The Tigers trailed by as much as 20 during the first half.
Rutgers didn't go easy in the second, answering every Auburn challenge.
This represents the final college game for DeWanna Bonner (school's all-time leading scorer), Whitney Boddie (all-time leading assister), Sherell Hobbs and Trevesha Jackson. Auburn ends the season 30-4.
The game is being televised by ESPN2. If you roll with satellite, it's on Channel 145 (Dish Network) or Channel 721 (DirecTV).

Booo!
ReplyDeleteBoooo!
ReplyDeleteyah
ReplyDelete..and Boo! ESPN!
ReplyDeleteboo-yah!...another great line from NBA Jam.
ReplyDeleteWhat's going on in this game?
ReplyDeletewe just can't get a run going...I am getting worried now
ReplyDeleteR could employ the skyhook blindfolded from 3 land tonight and it would go in it seems
ReplyDeleteI really thought we'd be in the final four...
ReplyDeleteI've got this game on Dish Network Channel 145.
ReplyDeleteVanderbilt showed that Auburn can be outcoached. You can't tell me Vandy has more talent.
ReplyDeletetoo bad we had to play an away game against a lower seed

ReplyDeleteI wondered where everyone went. I didn't want to vent alone!
ReplyDeletedirectv 721
ReplyDeleteJay G, I've noticed you're a lot fancier since you got rid of cable.
ReplyDeleteWhere are the fouls?!!!!
ReplyDeletethat appeared to be a kicked ball out of bounds
ReplyDeleteChantel Hilliard with her daily Charge Taken. Happens every game.
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy that cable doesn't live in my house anymore.
ReplyDeleteAnd a foul.
ReplyDeleteThey want it more than we do...KeKe can't even make her own put back
ReplyDeleteAuburn is getting werked. Goodness.
ReplyDeleteIt's really not right that a high seed like Auburn has to play on Rutgers' home court.
This loss keeps us as far away from UCONN as possible, I like it
ReplyDelete20 point lead again.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm off to the gym. I've got some steam to burn off.
they could kick carrier in the face and the zebras wouldn't call a foul
ReplyDeletetotally different on the other end.
ha,JHag
ReplyDeleteThese refs are BS BS BS
ReplyDeleteSo, another crappy meaningless "NCAA 2nd Round" banner. I don't like it one bit.
ReplyDeletechip, that's a really disturbing avatar.
ReplyDeleteWe got screwed with the home court thing but the real problem is we can't score...
ReplyDeleteAuburn is playing against not only Rutgers but the refs and the crowd. This is such BS. I still don't understand how Rutgers got home court advantage.
ReplyDeleteit's prettier than AU's game right now
ReplyDeleteTimes running out to make up 20 points...they answer every time
ReplyDeleteWhere is that moron who questioned your judgment regarding coaches now?
ReplyDeleteNOOOOFOULSS!!!I can't believe it!
ReplyDeleteThe great teams can win anywhere, anytime. As good as this team may be, this and the Vandy game say something is lacking with their greatness.
ReplyDeleteDid you see how many fouls were just committed under that basket and not one of those refs blew their whistle? Crazy.
ReplyDeletewhy didn't the selection committee just leave AU out of the field why they were at it?
ReplyDeleteThrowing up bricks all night
ReplyDeleteOff to the gym. Later guys and gals.
ReplyDeleteBye, Kathy.
ReplyDeletetime for me to get a new avitar beware
ReplyDeleteI'm worried, jhag.
ReplyDeletefor a team shooting 28%, 22 points is impossible to overcome. Book this game as a W for the girls from Jersey.
ReplyDeleteGood season,Tigers.
uh, 22? freakin' crap!
ReplyDeleteYeah, we were toast by half time. Veyr cold shooting. No adjustments. That last possession we jsut stood there for 30 seconds while Boddie dribbled.
ReplyDelete23 now.
ReplyDeleteI can't even comment on the refs anymore they are so ridiculous
ReplyDeleteThe refs may be bad, but you can't blame a 23 point deficit and 28% shooting on anyone by the girls on the floor.
ReplyDeletehaving home court advantage helps any team with zebras
ReplyDeleteLooks like Rutgers wanted it more. I agree with an ealrier post, a good, well coached team can play anyone, anywhere, anytime. That is not us. Ilike Fortner, butthis game needs to end quickly.
ReplyDeleteI hate to see layups by the other team when we have three people back to defend. Other teams have done that all year on AU.
ReplyDeleteI guess it was a good run while it lasted...first time I can remember being interested in women's bball in a while
ReplyDeleteMaybe our team is just used to the poor lighting at Beard Eaves. Too bright for them.
ReplyDeleteThey'll be down next season, but Fortner has used this success to gain some premium signees/recruits.
ReplyDeleteThey'll be back.
Pete, are you actually watching...they are getting fouls on us everytime we go down the court and not on our end...it is crazy
ReplyDeleteAnd why is the game on pay per view? I thought the Tourney would be free. My mistake.
ReplyDeleteI'm not paying to watch this, I promise.
ReplyDeleteTurning off now...thanks JayG for blogging the season!
ReplyDeleteI did see a lot of no calls on our end of the court, but you gotta step up. Fortner should a T a light a fire under them when she sees that happen. Still 20+% shooting will not beat many high school teams.
ReplyDeleteDon't need to watch. I've seen enough basketball to know that refs can't influence the numbers that Auburn has this game. Refs can swing a game, but they can't cause bad decisions, influence shooting 30 percentage points, and give the other team as many layups as I've seen come across stat tracker. Refs can be as bad as you want, but fact is, Auburn is not the best team on the floor tonight.
ReplyDeleteJust listening from the other room as I do some paperwork. Can't stand to watch a mismatch. Almost like a UFC match where one guy just mauls the other.
ReplyDeletei hate seeing the seniors go out like this. the deck was really stacked against them in this draw. no you can't blame the refs for poor shooting, but it does not help when R knows they can foul with impunity when AU attempts a shot. the lead really forced AU to take a lot of questionable shots too.
ReplyDeletegreat job anyway ladies. you are helping AU get back on the wbb map.
At least in UFC, that usually doesn't got past the first round. No TKO here. Dang.
ReplyDeleteCna Nell tap out?
ReplyDeleteThat would be interesting. Tap out. Pull the players off the floor, and go home. Has that ever happened?
ReplyDeleteOn the brighter side Kentucky is going to win AGAIN, and Billy Gllispie is gonna remain the coach =) !!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow. What a beat down.
ReplyDeleteNever saw this coming.
maybe nell will tangle with a ref after the game and we'll get a little UFC action!
ReplyDeleteif that happens, someone please record it!
ReplyDeletei hope nell will give all the credit in the world to R for playing AU out of the gym tonight, and then lay into the system and folks that had a major conference champ playing on a lower seed's home floor.
ReplyDelete28 points. I didn't think UCONN would beat Auburn by 28. Geez. Sucks for these girls to end such a good season this way.
ReplyDeleteA pipe fitter huh, Jay G? That was hilarious. A little less Duke bashing and the show would have been perfect.
ReplyDeleteI started watching the game and it got so bad so quick I didn't even want to come on here and discuss it. That was pitiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat an ugly, ugly game. I hate they had to go out like that.
ReplyDeleteFOOTBALL TIME.
ReplyDeleteSo..I came across a pic of James Willis in Crimson, Gray, & White today..
ReplyDeleteDoesn't look natural.
But I'll take it.
not nice, FSJ.
ReplyDeleteSUCKALICIOUS MON....
ReplyDeletetough loss!! ouch!!
ReplyDeleteBrian!! You nailed it. That was most definitely suckalicious.
ReplyDeleteBrian, tell the truth. Have you used my word in your non HABOTN life? Huh? Huh? :-)
Monica!
ReplyDeleteThoughts on the closed doors practices from Chizik....?
ReplyDeleteI love it
The only colors willis would look natural in are the black and white stripes doled out in the penal league.
ReplyDeleteMon-I've used the word tetons in my non HABOTN life :)
ReplyDeleteHag - Do you use Powers Chew?
ReplyDeleteWhile I didn't create the word teton's, you may be eligible for style points for that one.
ReplyDeletePlease share with the class the sentence in which you used the word tetons.
if jay is correct that AU wbb will be down next year (and i think he is), that means an average season and 7th or lower seed should result in some AU home games at The Dump. welcome to auburn, al WNCAA!
ReplyDeleteand someone send that UAT LB/ASSt. HC a darth vader costume for xmas...
Benedict Arnold costume perhaps Chip?
ReplyDeleteOn the positive side, TurboProp stuck the biscuit in the basket tonight.
ReplyDeleteRedman
ReplyDeleteFor James Willis' costume, he can be the east end of a west bound mule.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.kennypowers.com/
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the Grand Tetons, I kept getting Facebook invitations to some event called "National Motorboat Day."
ReplyDeleteMrs. Jet suggested I "send regret."
that would work too, but most uat players wouldn't know who arnold was... vader has the name recognition factor.
ReplyDeletein other observations...thank goodness for THE HABOTN. I don't think espn's chris low would report on AU if JH burned to the ground with the football team inside. it's been all bama, uga, uf and ut with the usc police blotter for good measure. i'm in the "espn hates AU" camp if you have not noticed.
HAHAHAHAHA
ReplyDeletePoor Mrs. Jet. How does she put up with YOU?
Closed door practices- I hate them. Don't blame coaches for restricting access, but I like to get practice notes from reporters.
ReplyDeletehad to listen at work...embaressed and disgusted. Defense wins championships, always has and always will (period)
ReplyDeleteeven Tubervillesque if you ask me. i know, no one asked me....Jay got it definitely outcoached and that is sad
ReplyDeleteI heard on the radio the other day that in San Francisco they have a "Bacon Day" of some sorts. I think we should have Conecuh day somewhere.
ReplyDeleteJet..
ReplyDeleteI'm all about National Motorboat Day...
Mrs. FSJ....not so much.
if practice notes meant anything james swinton would have made the all sec team last year.
ReplyDeletejay, get a telephoto lens and hang out on top of haley ctr., get a remote control helicopter and duct tape a camera to it. i need my meaningless AU practice notes anyway!!!!
I think I'm going to Tuscaloosa for spring break =/
ReplyDeleteHag you're just trying to get Jet all riled up!!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you think, EZ.
Well i'm flying to Tallahassee to stay with my brother for a week, and his best friend goes to Bama and were gonna road trip for one of there big fraternity parties... oh well ill pillage the town
ReplyDeletechip chip, the coaches were the ones talking about Swinton if I remember correctly. I don't remember Jay G or other reporters bragging on him. To each his own, I just like to hear information from independent sources.
ReplyDeletethanks Mon. you mean the conecuh?
ReplyDeleteDepressed - I saw "awwww" every time I see your new avatar. Such a sweet puppy!
ReplyDeleteYes,, EZ.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Monica. That is our golden we got from a rescue about four years ago. Mrs Depressed says he is the true love of my life.
ReplyDeletethey have conecuh in those parts?
ReplyDeleteill mail you some.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we have them, but I grew up in the same area as Conecuh Sausage.
ReplyDeletePlease mail me some tomorrow!!!
that is a cute puppy Depressed! :)
ReplyDeleteJhag ...
ReplyDeleteLet me put this simply. If your @$$ goes to Sodom for spring break, you better leave town with Denny Chimes in ruins, or end up in jail, because there is no other acceptable alternative.
Think the team let the location of the game beat them before they ever took the court tonight?
ReplyDeleteSmoothie, thank you very much. First Golden we have owned, he has been a delight. I see from your avatar you are a dog-lover also.
ReplyDeleteWell, even with that last one to Rutgers, the Lady Tigers worked hard and did quite well this season. Hats off to 'em.
ReplyDeletei love my babies. we have two terrier mixes: Sully and Beasley.
ReplyDeletei had two golden retrievers when i was a kid. they were the only other dogs i ever had until now. great dogs.
Scottie B ...
ReplyDeleteIn 1973, we got a Hungarian sheep dog puppy (I was 9) and his name was Beasley -- for the same reason.
Beas was the man. We had to put him down in 1987. My parents and I argued over who would take him to the vet. Mama ended up doing it, and she said Beas was a champ the whole way. The three of us cried for hours.
A great dog.
cooked or uncooked? You may not beileve this, but I actually wrap bacon around the conecuh and grill it that way.
ReplyDeleteSo what should my TV sign say for tomorrow night's game?
ReplyDeleteI think if you put bacon on a sock, I might eat it. The only way to make meat better is more meat!
ReplyDeleteHey Matt, your sign should say...How 'bout we don't lose by 28!
ReplyDeleteI just made one that said NCAA <3 Rutger$
ReplyDeletegood stuff Jet. i can't imagine life without them.
ReplyDeleteNot 2 shabby. I hate it for the girls, but that was piss poor IMO.
ReplyDeleteJet, man, that story made my eyes water up. A good dog will always break your heart, but you love him anyway.
ReplyDeletenite fellas. hopefully the guys can have a better showing tomorrow nite. war damn eagle!
ReplyDeletethytstga
ReplyDeleteJay, because of your dedication and constant flow of information I have kept up with and actually enjoyed AU basketball for once in my life. Thanks!
ReplyDeletedangit Smoothie B... now I have to come up with another name for the puppy we're planning to get... I was all set on Beasley... now, I gotta find a new name.
ReplyDeleteBy the way... Taxes suck! My wife worked at a place last summer that paid her in cash, and gave her a 1099-MISC... and they put her wages in the "nonemployee compensation" box... so now we have to file as a self employed business owner... even though we don't own a bidness, nor was she self employed...... Screws us out of nearly $3k
ReplyDeleteany Tax pros wanna help me figure a way around that?
Morning Hotties - War Eagle anyway.
ReplyDeleteDepressed - we have a Golden Retriever as well, and she's the first Golden I've ever owned. She was 10 in November and is without a doubt the best dog I've ever had in my life and there've been quite a few. In the interest of complete disclosure, she was also without a doubt the worst puppy I've ever had. Those first couple of years were rough. We had a lot of similarities with the Marley and Me story. She's an inside dog, she's never been boarded, if the in-laws can't keep her or we can't take her, we stay home.
Anyway, dogs are the best pets ever. I don't know what our next one will be when that time comes, but we're strictly dog folks in our house.
Just heard on ESPN radio that it was the largest defeat by a #2 seed in tourney history.
ReplyDeleteOuch.
Got the papers from AKC in the mail yesterday. My puppy is officially named after a set of UGA football player brothers(the lady of the house's decision) and a famed Auburn coach: Bailey Jordan. A sweet reminder that football is near.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Hotties. What a hugely disappointing game for the Lady Tigers last night. I think they forgot this was a tournament and went home after beating Lehigh. They were never in that game.
ReplyDeleteMonica and Brian, suckalicious is too nice of a term to describe that debacle.
A Good Morning to all!!!
ReplyDeleteLosing sux.
Guys'll have to carry to torch now.
Jet Jetarsky said...
ReplyDeleteOn the positive side, TurboProp stuck the biscuit in the basket tonight.
What in the hell does that mean???
Yes, ehyou, hopefully the men will do better tonight. That game last night was too painful to watch. We didn't get home from the gym until almost 7:00 and had DVR'ed it. We stopped it and erased it a couple of minutes into the 2nd half.
ReplyDeleteShould be an exciting game tonight. Like Auburn, Baylor is smaller and quickish. Should provide some fast paced action.
ReplyDeleteLuv - some things are better left unknown.
ReplyDeleteKidding aside, if I had to guess, I'd say that his kid scored a goal.
ReplyDeleteehyou is correct. TurboProp scored for the home team in our game last night, and we're assured of not finishing in last place in the section!
ReplyDeleteI score for the home team as often as possible. I've never called it a biscuit, though.
ReplyDeleteRimshot.
ReplyDeleteJet, I thought your son played football...am I mistaken?
ReplyDeletefutbol
ReplyDeleteso he plays soccer?
ReplyDeleteIf you're getting excited about one goal, it's got to be soccer.
ReplyDeletetrue, ehyou, very true.
ReplyDeleteHe plays European football -- 5-4, 130 guys don't play "real" football -- unless they want to shred their ACLs on opening kickoffs and never be heard from again.
ReplyDeleteHe's really a drummer, that does soccer on the side. He has decided now not to try out for the AU band. He's decided he wants to be a psychotic fan instead of having the chance to throw a drum stick through Saban's skull during pregame.
Seven weeks to graduation. Trying to figure out where the time went.
I can't wait to hear some coach-speak after practice today.
ReplyDeleteinstead of having the chance to throw a drum stick through Saban's skull during pregame.
ReplyDeleteThat's disappointing, Jet.
I think he's looking at something more "global," Luv.
ReplyDeletemorning hotties! spring football today and AU basketball tonite. should be a good day.
ReplyDeleterough loss by the ladies last nite. hopefully it doesn't overshadow such a fantastic season.
Care to expound on "global," Jet?
ReplyDeleteJet, you may have to remind him again how close he will be able to get to Saban during pregame and before half. When your shouting crazy things at a coach in a group of 300 its hard to isolate really who said what. Plus getting to games and going to bowls for free is pretty sweet.
ReplyDeleteTime to Move??
ReplyDeleteMorning hotties, terrible way to end a great season, but let's remember it as it was and not how it ended.
ReplyDeleteLuv, I would have moved after the second car.
ReplyDeleteSeanzie, I haven't let last night taint what an excellent season the Lady Tigers had. Although, I think they are really going to miss Bonner and Boddie.
ReplyDeletethat is crazy Luv. wow.
ReplyDeleteThis team has done so much for the program AND the university.
ReplyDeleteSo Bonner's number is gonna be hangin up... what about Boddie?
24 and 44, in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteJet,
ReplyDeleteDid you tell your boy that we need him on the inside so we can get rid of "Livin on a Prayer?"
What j-z? and bring back "All I need is a miracle"?
ReplyDelete
