The team was honored before the game as SEC Champions. They got a trophy and everything.
- FINAL
Auburn 71, Ole Miss 65. The team's next game comes tomorrow (5:30 p.m. CST) against either Tennessee or Florida. - @ :19, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 70-65. Bonner just stepped to the line and hit a pair of important free throws. Ole Miss has seized command of this game, but the surge is coming a bit too late. - FOURTH TO @ 3:42, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 64-54. The Tigers' starters are still in. It's been an unusual day for Auburn. Smalley is 2-of-9 from the perimeter. Hobbs is 1-of-9 overall. Bonner and Boddie have taken on larger-than-normal scoring responsibilities and that hasn't been a problem. Against a better opponent, though, this could have been a terminal situation. - THIRD TO @ 11:37, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 53-40. Nell Fortner now appears ready to rest her starters. Boddie is out. The Tigers are just messing around now. Seems like the margin is larger than 13, but Ole Miss has taken advantage of some recent sloppiness. - BONNER IN THE BOOKS
With a mid-range jumper moments ago, Bonner now is Auburn's all-time leading scorer. As of this moment, she has 2,070 points. - FIRST TO @ 17:00, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 42-29. The Tigers are on a 7-0 run to open the second half. Auburn is pushing the tempo, as they probably should have been doing all along, and their opponent can't keep up. - HALFTIME NUMBERS

- HALFTIME
Auburn 35, Ole Miss 29. - FOURTH TO @ 3:59, 1st half
Auburn leads, 27-25. It's been a funky strech here lately. DeWanna Bonner appears reborn as a mid-range jump shooter. That's not her game. On the other end, UM's big center, Shawn Goff, is going off. She's currently 6-for-8 with 17 points. I've told you this before -- Auburn's big weakness is that it cannot guard powerful centers. This has been proven time and again. - THIRD TO @ 7:48, 1st half
Auburn leads, 23-15. The Tigers want Smalley to be the sharpshooter, but it's just not happening. She's now 2-for-6 from the perimeter. She airballed the last shot. The two before that were way off. - SECOND TO @ 11:51, 1st half
Auburn leads, 16-8. The Tigers still are pushing the tempo. I've been impressed with how aggressive Ole Miss has been with their offensive rebounding. They're getting a lot of second shots. They'll start falling at some point. - FIRST TO @ 15:37, 1st half
Auburn leads, 10-4. The Tigers have a massive advantage here in terms of transition. Boddie is so thoughtful and quick with the ball in transition. UM's Kayla Melson, a Sidney Lanier High grad, can stay with Boddie. It doesn't appear that her teammates can handle their assignments in transition. Look for Auburn to crank this one to 11. (Spinal Tap reference) - OLE MISS TO @ 17:32, 1st half
Auburn leads, 10-2. The Tigers have scored on four consecutive possessions. They've been very easy baskets, too. - YOUR AUBURN STARTERS
PG -- Whitney Boddie
SG -- Alli Smalley
SF -- Sherell Hobbs
PF -- DeWanna Bonner
C -- Trevesha Jackson

Pitching worse. Brown sucks.
Hitting more homers than ever before. 9 games in , Auburn has 20 homers, (25 including what they've his so far tonight). Before that, the best start in that stat column was 19 through 14 games. Sweetness!
I found info on Hunter Morris in the press notes. Sore back. Shouldn't be a long term thing, but has definitely been affecting him so far.
dig dug, Hart will not have any blemishs on his record from this. Somehow it seems the blame is all on Bowden.
What have I missed today? I have been out of pocket since about 3 this afternoon.... somebody catch me up.
Didn't it involve multiple sports? How is it all Bowden's fault?
D. Miller AU Women played so-so but put Ole Miss away to advance. Baseball team is crushing the ball, some believe due to very bad pitching from Brown
It seems the focus was at Bowden, they made it a point to say ALL records of the fb team would have to reflect the wins being removed, even the university's own records.
PC you may be right but he must have a teflon coating to escape totally clean from something this bad.
Auburn beats Brown 11-2
Grant Dayton went 7 innings, striking out 6 batters, while only walking 1. Good performance by him today.
Sophomores Brian Fletcher (2 homers) and Trent Mummey (1 HR) each went 2-4 with 2 runs each (Fletcher had a 4 rbi day).
Red hot junior Joe Sanders(1HR) also went 2-4 with an rbi and a run.
Freshman Casey McElroy accounted for the other home run while going 2-3 at the plate, with 2 RBIs 2 runs.
As bad as the pitching is (sans Burnside, and maybe Dayton), this team has potential to generate some runs. If they can improve the pitching this year, and add another arm next year, they might be able to challenge for the west next year. At worst, they'll be fun to watch with all of the long balls being knocked out.
NCAA picks and chooses who they go after, Hart might know somebody that knows somebody.
Looks like the women will play Tennessee tomorrow night. Hope we can beat them like we did in Auburn.
thanks for the updates PF!
Hunter Morris has a back strain that has been causing trouble for a week now ...
Thanks for the baseball information, Peter!
Congrats Auburn basball team. I agree about the NCAA they have always been selective on who they go after. They hot and heavy on Bama now and that is where he is, may not make him a target but who knows.
Pardon my typing in too big of a hurry
I don't know what to expect from Bama's latest go round with NCAA. From my understanding, it is a minoe infraction, the only variable is the recent history of probation @ UA. That is what possibly land them in hot water.
minoe = minor
I wouldn't hold my breath on expecting the NCAA to do anything substantial to any football program. That's just me.
I miss THT.
Mon, I agree if only because of Saban. He's the golden boy right now, and I don't know if the infractions committee will want to go after the cash cow at this point.
Who was the last football program to be seriously sanctioned?
This comment has been removed by the author.
define serious. I only ask because some people would say that any loss of scholarships is serious.
Under that definition, Florida International University, I think was the last. They are on probation in every sport right now and lost 3 football scholarships.
Didn't New Mexico St. get hit hard recently?
From Rivals:
Here's a list of the 17 Division I-A football programs that were hit with scholarship sanctions. The typical limit is 85.
Akron: Limit of 80 next year
Buffalo: 83
Central Michigan: 83
FAU: 82
FIU: 82
Hawaii: 84
Idaho: 77
Kansas: 83
New Mexico State: 82
North Texas: 80
San Diego State: 79
San Jose State: 67
Temple: 81
Toledo: 79
UAB: 76
UNLV: 84
Washington State: 77
Holy cow... what did San Jose St do to have their schollies reduced by 18??
I was wondering the same thing. That's like half of an Ole Miss signing class.
almost
I guess all the really high profile schools are 100% clean.
Looks that way ;-)...
Has there been a worse punishment since Auburn's last stint on probation? I know a couple in basketball, but don't remember any postseason restrictions in football since then.
new thread up, btw.
as michael would say, old thread down.
