Reaction from Tuscaloosa

That's a wrap from Coleman Coliseum, where your Auburn Tigers beat the home-standing Alabama Crimson Tide, 77-73.

COACH JEFF LEBO
On the drama: ``We had a lot riding on this game. The tradition there, in terms of SEC winning seasons, isn't there. Coming from behind, for (the players), that was the most exciting way to do it. I've never seen them so happy after a game."

On the win: "I liked our toughness. We showed some toughness. We've shown some grit. Against an Alabama team that has been playing very very well. We had to overcome a lot. They made some big shots. We kept making play after play after play."

On possible reasons for first-half problems: "It's been an emotional 40 days. Sometimes that takes a little bit out of you when you have so much riding on each game."

COACH PHILIP PEARSON
On the final Auburn possession ... when Alabama let the clock run: ``They had been making their foul shots. They had some pretty good FT shooters on the floor. I thought we could get a stop and catch them in a little bit of a scramble situation. It didn't work out, obviously."

I HATE houndstooth!!!
8:13 PM

Reasons why I hate houndstooth:
1. The man has been dead for 26 years and they've had how many coaches since he retired???
2. A lot of the people that wear it weren't even born or even a gleam in their parents' eyes when the man died!!!

Coaching really hurt the Tide last night. Why didn't they keep giving it to Green on the block? If they had continued that, I think the outcome would have been different. Thankfully though, we're 2nd in the west with a first round bye in the tourney.

So if we beat LSU and win a game in the tourney, will ESPN include us in the "bubble" discussion?

I stand corrected, today's quote of the day comes from CNN anchorwoman Zain Verjee reporting on a story about Northwest Airlines now serving peanuts on flights.

"Georgia is the top penis producing state in the country."

The caption at the bottom of the screen read, "Nuts on Northwest flights."

There is some talk that we have a new commit for the 2009 class. It seems that our latest Juco visitor, WR Jay Wisner has accepted AU's invitation to walk-on.

6-foot-2, 195lbs, 4.45 40-yard dash and has a 40-inch vertical leap. In 2008 he had 40 catches for 786 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 19.6 yards per reception.

I havent seen any official word other than a Scout's report that has since been removed. If this is true and his stats are accurate, he could make an immediate impact.

It takes hustle, courage and guile to win close games on the road. Ultimately, here's where we won it.

1. Rasheem's blow-by Gee with two minutes and change to go to put us up by 4, and countering Torrance's 3-point play.

2. Tez turning into the FT machine.

3. Vot's 18th rebound and tip-in.

4. Pearson's curious decision to let Auburn play the clock down from 45 seconds to l1.

5. Frankie's "Onions!" moment to put it away.

Thank you very much, O'Hoopie. The Irish blessing is particularly appreciated in my Irish Catholic family.

Jet - I feel very sure you were always the apple of Mr. and Mrs. Jet Sr's eye.

"Onions" is a term used by TV basketball announcer Bill Raftery -- my personal fave -- to describe a particularly courageous or critical play made in the game.

It is a not so sly anatomical reference.

Kids are funny that way. It is amazing how things travel around from kid to kid. The greatest mystery is "Wall Ball". Played at every baseball park in the US with no written rules and played the same way from here to there.

I recall running into two variations of wall ball: one included just being out of the game if you didn't get to the wall in time, but some people played where you had to put both hands on the wall and get pegged if you were knocked out.

Scottie, that's from Napoleon Dynamite. RE: Wall Ball, Michael, I've played both versions. I prefer the get pegged version, everyone is always jumpy.

Tony "Uncle Rico" Franklin on Chris Todd:

Did you know he used to chuck a pigskin a quarter mile?

How much you wanna make a bet Chris Todd can throw a football over them mountains?... Yeah... If Coach woulda put him in fourth quarter, we would've beat Alabama. No doubt. No doubt in my mind.

Hey peeps.

I'm getting things in order for my big trip to Little Rock, which begins tomorrow morning. I'll be traveling with my friends from the O-A News. It's a beat hack caravan.

I'll be back around 3 for some fresh stuff.

Seanzie, do have any idea why 12-packs are so much right now? When I went to Wal-mart on Friday, Pepsi products were $4.39 and Coca-cola products were $4.50. I stopped at Walgreen's on my way home today and their Pepsi products were 3/$11 (not really a sale, imo) and Coca-cola proucts were $4.89!

Seanzie, I didn't get an invitation. This party must be for FB friends.

Luv, the bottler that services the B'ham is not one I have a connection with, so I have no idea why they're that high. The thing with promotions are, they're constantly changing at each store, you just have to know where the sale is. I could tell you if you were in the Gump or elsewhere.

2:07 PM

I wasn't invited either, I'm just showing up.

I could smell a party that I hadn't been invited to. It's a skill I developed as a teen-ager. As GaTiger shared with you guys, I was excluded from most events that would be considered fun.

The events I was invited to, it was to make sport of me.

Club La Vela is not only the largest nightclub in the USA, it is also one of the trendiest and most respected nightclubs in the world.

I've never even heard of it. Well, then again, I've never been to PCB either.

However, I do love the idea of muscle bound bounces minus the La Vela. :-D
