Welcome to Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, Ark., for the SEC Tournament semifinal game between your Auburn Tigers and the Tennessee Lady Vols.
- FINAL
Auburn 78, Tennessee 58.
- THIRD TO @ 7:19, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 60-45. Auburn is in complete control now. I've never seen anything like it. We're up to 12 offensive fouls now. I can't believe the calls. Over and over and over. It's making a mess of a really intriguing basketball game.
- SECOND TO @ 10:26, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 51-41. The Tigers look like a different team. They're rebounding with more fervor and it seems that Tennessee is slowing down a bit. The Lady Vols are not keeping pace in transition.
- FIRST TO @ 15:32, 2nd half
Auburn leads, 39-33. The Tigers have outscored Tennessee 13-2 so far this half. That's more than half what Auburn accomplished during the first 20 minutes of the game. If Smalley and Hobbs get on track -- each player has hit a bucket this half -- Auburn will be tough to stop.

- HALFTIME
Tennessee leads, 31-26.
- THIRD TO @ 3:13, 1st
Tennessee leads, 27-22. Both teams are playing excellent defense. Tennessee has benefited from some good luck here lately. A blocked shot landed in Alex Fuller's hand for a freebie just a moment ago. Auburn hasn't accomplished anything meaningful on offense in several minutes. The Lady Vols are highly aggressive with their man defense right now.
- SECOND TO @ 9:57, 1st
Auburn leads, 16-15. Auburn is out in transition now. Nell Fortner subbed out Boddie for ReRe Hobbs, which was a curious call. Maybe that's a defensive change? This is a fun game to watch. These teams are really going at it.
- FIRST TO @ 15:54, 1st
Tennessee leads, 8-7. The Lady Vols' outstanding freshman center, Kelley Cain, is out with a knee injury. Auburn hasn't yet had many opportunities to get out in transition. When those opportunities arise, you know the Tigers will be sprinting. This is UT's third game in three days.
- YOUR AUBURN STARTERS
PG -- Whitney Boddie of north Alabama (Florence)
SG -- Alli Smalley of north Alabama (Arab)
SF -- Sherell Hobbs of north Alabama (Huntsville)
PF -- DeWanna Bonner of central Alabama (Fairfield)
C -- Trevesha Jackson of eastern Alabama (Auburn)
GO TIGERS!!!
ReplyDeleteOne?...Let's go ladies..
ReplyDeleteWay to go guys..what an AUsome win.
ReplyDeleteJay GT- I'm really excited I get to watch your blog tonight LIVE!!! Thanks! Instead of the game, my regional sports network is showing some Best D*(% Sports SHow rerun. REdiculous
ReplyDeleteC'mon Ladies... Let's keep it going on the Day of the Tiger!
ReplyDeleteDr, where are you?
ReplyDeleteI'm likin' the Orange suit that Nell is sportin' today!
ReplyDeleteTime to tip!
home, sweat home. Was told there was 3" of snow earlier this week and 13 degrees one morning. My first day home it's 80.
ReplyDeletein North Carolina, to answer your question.
ReplyDeletecrowd>?
ReplyDeleteTennessee C Kelley Cain, Auburn's most feared opponent today, is down with a knee injury.
ReplyDeleteShe's been fighting through this injury for a while. Looks like she's taken things to a new level here.
Crowd is probably 5,000 ... mostly pro-Tennessee.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the girl from UT is ok...
ReplyDeleteWonder how many people left the basketball game and went to the second baseball game? heard them announcing free admission to the second game on tv.
ReplyDeleteAU needs a 3 to get something started...
ReplyDeleteDr, I feel your pain. When we first moved to Cincinnati in 1996 we got all prepared to watch the opening game of Auburn and I think Miss State. We had on all of our AU gear, had a tailgate set up in the kitchen - the works. Time for the game and they blacked out the game and ran a rerun of the strongest man contest from 1973! I almost stroked out - I still feel sorry for the poor cable girl.
ReplyDeleteBrown - 4
ReplyDeleteAU - 5
heading to top of the 6th
Mummy and Patterson each have a HR so far in the game.
dang sun sports and fsn florida! NHL and NBA. Having to listen to the women's game, which switches me away from listening to the baseball game, so I'm having to use gametracker for that.
ReplyDeleteAuburn leads by 1, 10:00 to go in the first half.
ReplyDeleteAU 16 Tn 15
ReplyDeleteSmalley has been off for the past few games...
ReplyDeleteAuburn leads by 1, 7:51 to go in the first half.
ReplyDeletewe can do this1 c'mon ladies!
ReplyDeleteAlli can't really get open against the really good defensive teams. She had some great looks against Ole Miss and just missed them.
ReplyDeleteShe just missed an open three.
So Ty Kelly had a rough outing today. 4 earned runs in 4 innings (that's 8.01 ERA), zero strike outs, and a walk.
ReplyDeleteMummey with an RBI single in the 6th puts AU up 6-4 heading to top of the 7th.
ReplyDeleteWTH was that that Bonner just threw up?
ReplyDeleteMan Jay...these gals are intense tonite...
ReplyDeleteMan..AU is getting whipped on the boards. Gotta change that.
ReplyDeleteCan we get Carrier in a set of pads?
ReplyDeletescore?
ReplyDeleteBonner and an air ball?
ReplyDeleteTenn is just out working AU. C'mon girls..lets step it up!!!
ReplyDeleteIf I hear Rocky Top one more time I might have to mute the TV
ReplyDeleteThis is a very intense game, no doubt. Auburn's offense is a mess right now. Both teams are playing excellent defense, but UT has been a little better to this point.
ReplyDeleteAmen Matt
ReplyDeleteWowza. You could hear Bonna sayin "AND THE FOUL!" on that one. Love her.
ReplyDeleteMan I love Bonner's intensity!!!!
ReplyDeleteAMEN BONNER!!!
ReplyDelete27-226 TN up, AU going to foul line, 2:14 left
ReplyDeletecheck that, meant 27-26, Bonner missed free throw
ReplyDeleteREBOUND?
ReplyDeleteAm I the only person who hear that Kentucky's AD said he considered Pat Summit for HC, but knew he couldn't sell a woman as HC. Did I dream that?
ReplyDeleteheard
ReplyDeletewhat's happening? I got sent on a dinner run and am missing both games. dangit
ReplyDeleteEight offensive fouls called during that half of basketball, which is a TON.
ReplyDeleteThe calls were terrible against both teams. Just awful stuff.
men's HC?
ReplyDeleteI thought so to Jay. Turble, turble, turble.
ReplyDeleteoh yes, sorry, as men's HC
ReplyDeleteAdded an interesting quote from Lebo on the men's thread.
ReplyDeleteAuburn's offense is in lockdown. They're not getting any open shots. The thing is -- can Tennessee keep playing with this level of intensity?
ReplyDeleteUT is asking a lot of its reserves and they're coming through to this point. Alicia Manning and Alyssia Brewer have added 15 points and 10 rebounds.
They haven't been front-line players this season.
Auburn was 9-for-25 in the first half. That's not nearly enough takes or makes.
ReplyDeleteCain ready to go.
ReplyDeleteKelley Cain is back on the court. She may play.
ReplyDeleteinteresting, Mon...never heard that. I imagine he's right, though.
ReplyDeleteHeatin' up!
ReplyDeleteAuburn opens the second half with emphasis ... outscoring Tennessee 13-2 during the first 4+ minutes.
ReplyDeleteWe're now up to nine offensive fouls called. I wouldn't expect to see that many in 10 games.
ReplyDeleteGO TIGERS! I was waiting for that 2nd half run.
ReplyDeleteBaseball Tigers sweet the DH today!
ReplyDeleteThe Day of the Tiger! C'mon Ladies!
Jay sounds like they are picking up where they left off the other day with the offensive fouls.
ReplyDeleteBoddie plays with so much intensity. Auburn has a good team overall, but their fortunes rise and fall with how she is playing.
ReplyDeleteFoul on Bonner?
ReplyDeleteThis is a whuppin'.
ReplyDeleteAuburn opens the second half on a 19-2 run.
ReplyDeleteMake up to break up, that's all we do.
ReplyDeleteWe're baaaaack
ReplyDeleteThese refs are totally taking the teams out of the game
Very impressive ladies.
ReplyDeleteAre the refs watching the defensive game at all?
ReplyDeleteAuburn now up 10 with 10:26 remaining in the game.
ReplyDeleteI think we're up to 12 offensive fouls.
ReplyDeleteOk Ladies keep the foot on the throttle!
ReplyDeleteGuys I hate to go back to this, but remember when Aubie took out that little girl during half time this season? Funniest thing I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteCould UT be running out of gas?
ReplyDeleteSoftball won their first (of a doubleheader) today, as well. 9-8 in 13 innings. Good, competitive way to open up SEC play. I'm assuming the second game is under way still. Can't see anything about it.
ReplyDeleteWDCWE, I'm still waiting for that yo show up on YouTube. I could hear that thump from where I was sitting!
ReplyDeleteTwo big wins in one day with the round ball.
ReplyDeleteDEWANNA BONNER!!! FOR THREEEEEE!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou gotta be kidding me!
ReplyDeleteThat was one of the longest three's I have ever seen made in a women's game.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet shot! Gawd a love Bonner!
ReplyDeleteHow many offensive fouls? Seriously? That just sounds crazy. Ziemba crazy.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever in my career seen a game turn around so violently. Auburn was awful in the first half.
ReplyDeleteThis is the best second half I've ever seen from them.
Nell said something special in the locker room, that's for sure...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great display of basketball.
ReplyDelete34-11 run
ReplyDeletePat Summit wears DeWanna Bonner pajamas.
ReplyDeleteMatt--haha.
ReplyDeletematt....sounds sexy. prison guard sexy.
ReplyDeleteThis is just unreal.
ReplyDeleteIt's Tennessee we're talking about.
Pretty sure Pat reads the HABOTN and got a little flustered at some of my comments yesterday. Her mind is elsewhere and her team can sense it.
ReplyDeleteThat, or Auburn is HAUNGRAY!
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting right in front of a big Tennessee section. It's pretty doggone quiet right now.
ReplyDeleteThey just showd Auburns resume on espn, Jay Bilas says auburn has got to be IN
ReplyDeleteJay..are you kidding me? What a half.
ReplyDeleteare the radio guys broadcasting from right in front of the AU band? sounds like it.
ReplyDeleteheubert davis, i think that's his name, the guy on college gameday just said Auburn is in the NCAA tourney. we don't have to worry anymore.
ReplyDeletebilas said it too jhag?? hell yeah!
ReplyDeleteThe Hamburglar said we're in too. So yes it's a lock.
ReplyDeleteI like this team. They are fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteOh my, Pat Summit is PISSED. She just laid into #5.
ReplyDelete75-55 AU up by 20, 2:30 left
ReplyDeletebob knight says auburn is the big winner today...improved their seed.
ReplyDeleteI wonder when the last time a Pat Summit Tennessee team has lost by 20.
ReplyDeleteauburn is getting all kind of love on gameday.
ReplyDeletewhat a difference one game makes...last week, the only mention they were getting is that they wouldn't be in the discussion.
ReplyDeleteOrange Crushed!
ReplyDeleteTennessee doesn't lose like this in the SEC Tournament. Ever.
ReplyDeleteWoo-Hoo...Jay G gets to stay in Little Rock another day!
ReplyDeleteTiger Rags needs to make some "Killer B's" t-shirts.
ReplyDeleteBob Knight just said Auburn proved the most today, ESPN is on Auburns nuts right now
ReplyDeleteAbout damn time.
ReplyDeleteWDE, Auburn has dominated sports today. If the second game of the DH goes through with softball, we are golden. Perfect Day.
ReplyDeleteWow, I don't think I have ever seen the UT ladies spanked that way. Very impressive.
ReplyDeleteBoddie is a future coach.
ReplyDeleteNice job ladies.
ReplyDeleteHow about that?
ReplyDeleteMen win, Women win, Baseball DH - it's an Auburn kind of day.
ReplyDeleteCoach Fortner (she deserves that and not "Nell"). She's freakin awesome.
ReplyDeleteSo, does this make Auburn officially a basketball school?
ReplyDeleteVery impressive win for the ladies.
ReplyDeletelol Steve
ReplyDeleteHey, winning Mens and Womens basketball, and a new arena coming. Screw football. I am now a basketball fan....at least until August.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, bring on UConn!
ReplyDeleteAuburn Lady tigers 80
ReplyDeleteTenn. 58
I'm still gonna call her Nell.
ReplyDeleteToday has been the Day of the Tiger!!!
ReplyDeleteBeat LSU? Check
Beat Brown? Check and Check
Beat UT? Check
HATE UAT?? CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK!!!
'cause she's sexy
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on that one Peter
ReplyDeleteSo, should I pull for LSU against Vandy?
ReplyDeleteIf you like corndogs.
ReplyDeleteI told ya, Miller! LOL
ReplyDeletehag - what does it mean to be on someone's nuts?
This is unreal! Great job ladies...let's officially consider AU a basketball school.
ReplyDeleteI'm flying to Little Rock tonight.
ReplyDeleteI'll call her Nell. I know her.
ReplyDeleteLane Kiffin is an idiot and the Tennessee women have been dethroned.
ReplyDeleteGood work Nell and the Ladies!
Good work by the men earlier today as well!
great work JG. the ladies looked tough in the second half. totally different team. :)
ReplyDeleteweagles!
BEAT VANDERBILT/LSU!!!!!!!
its super affectionate, mon...a bit vulgar, if you really think it out, but attention is definitely being paid.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we can get Erin Andrews to come to a basketball game now.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, BAMA SUCKS! }
ReplyDeleteI HATE YOU BAMA! MAY THE NCAA CORKSCREW YOU INTO ANOTHER BUNCH OF EXCUSES!
A Hoopaloosza kinda day!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, where is Hoopie?
LOL Y'all can call her whatever you like. Y'all are funny.
ReplyDeleteGnome your passionate hate warms my toes.
ReplyDeleteThis ESPN Basketball Gameday is so dumb, just play the game already! Get off the court!
ReplyDeleteBob Knight is a jack@$$, but he's good on TV.
ReplyDeleteI like the gameday crew...
ReplyDeleteWWWOOOHHoOOO!! Tigers win! It's been a great day! I really enjoyed the guys today but I don'think the crowd was as big as it could have been. Lots of available seats for those that didn't go! Now on to the championship tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the ladies. I went to the mens game this afternoon, and I am drinking the orange and blue kool-aid. Best atmosphere I have seen at an AU home game in years. Barber was a beast on the boards. I hate to see him leave. Are there really 64 teams out there better than AU? I am now thinking probably not.
ReplyDeleteWow so many hotties at the game today! Way to represent, HOTTIES!!!
ReplyDeleteWe did walk over to the baseball game...again sparse crowd...and then we went by softball...it was still going with small crowd.
ReplyDeleteThere's not 64 teams better than us... but the question is: will we be one of the top 34 if we don't win our tournament?
ReplyDeleteWOO HOO Way to freakin' go LADY TIGERS!!!!! Great win for the men as well!
ReplyDeleteWAR DAMN EAGLE!!!!
WEG, full or not, it looked and sounded good on TV. gotta feel good for the players to play in that environment. also, shows the NCAA SC that Auburn cares and believes their team should be there.
ReplyDeleteAll of this love for the Tigers aside, may I say ...
ReplyDeleteI HATE UAT.
Oh yeah, the crowd was definitely loud and there were actually a good bit of students there
ReplyDeleteglad it looked good on TV but I think some were scared away thinking it was sold out
Did anyone see me hold up the Rick Astley behind the TV guys during halftime?
ReplyDeleteThat's more like it, Jet.
ReplyDeleteNever let the Bammer-directed HATE subside!
Auburn:
Land of great women's bball
Sloppy but winning men's bball
Mediocre football
and HATE FOR BAMMER ALWAYS!!!
I thought they had given a bunch of the tickets away ... and a lot of these folks probably didn't show.
ReplyDeleteI bet they gave away a couple hundred tickets to us that registered....I waited in line 30 min to get mine
ReplyDeleteOne more note on the mens game- Coach Chizik was announced toward the end of the game, and he and JJ were shown on the pitiful big-screen. He received a rousing ovation and waved to the crowd. Just to clarify, I think the cheers were for Chizik not for JJ.
ReplyDeleteI hate the Viles too!
ReplyDeleteTo quote Burt Reynolds in W.W. and the Dixie Dancekings:
"I don't give a *bleep* about no Vols!"
My HATE for Bammer burns like the
hair of my avatar!
It was really great that he came to the ladies last game and the guys last game. It was also nice they sent a pep band to be with the women
ReplyDeleteMatt, can you elaborate on the Rick Astley thing? Did you hold up a picture of him?
ReplyDeleteI suspect Matt kidnapped RA, and held him up on a stick. That's what any good hottie would do.
ReplyDeleteAlso the sound system in BEMC is also as bad as JH and the baseball stadium wasn't much better....don't we have some sound engineers at AU?!
ReplyDeleteWho dresses Bob Huggins?
ReplyDeleteHe looks like he's wearing the Gambino Family Collection from John Gotti's Big House of Suits.
I'm Off to change my clocks...been a long day! War Eagle Everyone!
ReplyDeleteWhat I did was print out a picture of him (two actually--one I flipped and put on the reverse side so I could spin him around and make him dance) and taped it all together and had it on a stick. It was on there for a good minute or two. I thought about writing down a shoutout to HABOTN, but didn't have a big marker.
ReplyDeleteMonica said...
ReplyDeleteCoach Fortner (she deserves that and not "Nell"). She's freakin awesome.
Monica, I agree 100% and TPTB need to give her a big ass raise and keep her happy so she is there for a long, LONG time.
well, I got the Astley on a stick part right...knew matt was a good hottie.
ReplyDeleteFrom an earlier thread when he missed the 1st post by one...
ReplyDeletejhag said...
DAMN YOU
jhag, that made me LOL
Matt ...
ReplyDeleteI saw you ... way to represent for the HOTTIES.
JGT & Hotties (but mostly JGT I think) - I must confess that I have never been a fan of basketball. Ever. That has changed thanks to this addiction which is HABOTN. I've even coached a girls Upward team and didn't particularly enjoy it. I've followed basketball more over the last few months than I ever have. War Eagle and thanks Jay for the work you do and allowing us this venue.
ReplyDeleteHey hotties, checking in from the plains...the men's game was fantastic and my buddies and I were treated to quite the second half of the ladies' game at dinner. What a fantastic day for Auburn basketball.
ReplyDeleteVitale is a BUFFOON!
ReplyDeleteJust got back from the game and a lovely afternoon on the plains-- what a day for AU hoops! WDE to both men and women teams! Set your clocks forward and rest up for a championship Sunday for our ladies!
ReplyDeleteJust got in from Auburn as well! Got back just in time to watch the second half of the lady tigers game. The two 2nd half performances I saw today were mind bottling...ha..or boggling even!
ReplyDeleteWAR DAMN EAGLE!!
Congrats all Tigers..it truly has been a special day for AU athletics.
ReplyDeleteWe had a good view of the LSU bench and a good portion of their small group of fans that were there and the corndogs were as classless and silly as ever! Made the schilaking even sweeter!
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a chance to catch any ESPN, but the comments about the love we're getting warms my little heart! Maybe they'll still be on our nuts at half of UL/WVU.
WDE again!
That was the second-worst loss of Pat Summitt's 34-year career. We're talking about 1,197 games.
ReplyDeleteWOW. Amazing stat. Enough to make me think she's not hot anymore. Her day has passed, in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteOnly negative note I have for today- parking has went from bad to nightmarish. Is there any planning involved for thousands of people coming to events with little or no parking avaliable? Okay, sorry to gripe, back to the positives.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to even wrap your mind around what a huge feat that is. Even in her worst years, her teams didn't get licked like that.
ReplyDeletewhat a day! the question is, will it take the au men winning the sec tourn. to get into the ncaa tourn. that would be a tall, but not impossible, order.
ReplyDeleteoh, your Fourth ranked Auburn Equestrian team won today against No.1 ranked Baylor. Something in the water in Auburn.
ReplyDeleteDAng!!! I'm so PROUD of all you Hotties for heading to the game!
ReplyDeleteI've said it before and I'll say it again with Gatiger. Jay G. thanks for uppin' my Auburn love and getting me hooked on bball HABOTN style!
I think we win on Friday and it's a t-total lock. We're getting a lot of play on the interwebs right now! I've got 5 pages full of Auburn minimized while I type this!
ReplyDeleteBoth games of the Double Header against Ole Miss went to the Auburn Softball team (9-8 in 13 innings, and 4-3 in regulation of game 2)
ReplyDeleteDarn good day for Junior Day, huh?
ReplyDeleteDid the baseball team take game 2 against Brown? We thought about stopping in on the way out of BEMC but after all that excitement the baseball tigers v. bears would have been a big buzz killington!
ReplyDeleteAll that winning's got to be contagious.
ReplyDeleteyes,
ReplyDeleteAuburn won both games in baseball
both in softball
men's basketball
women's basketball
and knocked off the top team in the country in Equestrian.
sorry for repeating all of that. it just looked like a more impressive day with it all listed together.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Go equestrian! I'm glad baseball won the 2nd game. They were down when we walked by. I thought maybe the Under Armour's favorite neon orange jerseys they were wearing may have jinxed them.
ReplyDeleteAND Women's Tennis upset LSU yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI am a little unclear on the rules for Junior Days. Can AU provide the recruits with tickets to basketball games and other events, or is that a no-no with the NCAA? These Junior Days have quite obviously been turned into recruiting events, so does anyone know what guidelines apply to them? Thanks.
ReplyDeletePF, wow! What a day for Auburn athletics!!! :-D
ReplyDeletesurely they were just touring BEMC and a basketball game happened to interrupt their tour. No tickets required for tours.
ReplyDeletePF, that is a Sabanesque take on recruiting. I like your thinking.
ReplyDeleteI DID NOT SUGGEST $100 HANDSHAKES...if you ever compare me to that little man again, I will re-dig up the bear and give you the STDs that were given to him by a certain hating hottie.
ReplyDelete
