Here is some reaction from the principles involved with today's big game.
NELL FORTNER, The Auburn Head Coach
On the seniors: "The most emotional thing for me today was that last timeout under the 4:00 mark at the end of the game. I was just sitting there looking at all them. It was very emotional. That's where it became very overwhelming to me of exactly what was going on. We're going to win this game and these seniors are going to go out having done that. They accomplished what we set out to accomplish … in one area. Now it's on to the next."
TOM COLLEN, The Arkansas Head Coach
On the Tigers: “I just think we ran into a buzz saw. They’re the SEC Champs. They deserve to be. They’re the best team in our conference right now and you’ve got to give them all the credit in the world.”
DEWANNA BONNER, The Auburn All-Conference Guard/Forward
On if Auburn is deserving of a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament: "I think it would be nice. If you win the SEC Tournament you don’t have to worry about being in somebody else’s hands. You can handle it yourself. But I don’t think it’s a must. I think we’re right there with Maryland, maybe."
WHITNEY BODDIE, The Auburn Point Guard
On how Auburn's win enhances the team's post-season worthiness: "It puts us in a good position because we're the No. 1 seed outright. It's going to be competitive no matter who we play, but we're not really worried about the competition. We're just trying to take care of business. We have bigger things to come. This is good for right now, today we're going to celebrate and do it big, but after that, it's over. We've got bigger things ahead of us."

ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the Lady Tigers!!!
ReplyDeleteWell said, michael.
ReplyDeleteGood Job ladies...
ReplyDeletenot that they read this.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure some of them do.
ReplyDeleteLadies follow me wherever I go, including HABOTN.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Lady Tigers!
ReplyDeleteNeither rain, hail, sleet, snow, FSJ, nor puppets can stop the AU wimmenz!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the live-bloggin' JGT... well done sir.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the Lady Tigers! Great Season! Keep it up!
Go get an SEC tournament trophy and then move on get the big one.
ReplyDeleteWar Eagle ladies!
War Eagle!! Way to go Ladies!
ReplyDeleteWell the snow has finally stopped here and the sun is shining on The Plains. Posted some pics of campus and JHS if anyone is interested...
I posted pictures of me wrestling and killing a grizzly bear on facebook.
ReplyDeleteWar Eagle!! was Fortner a Jacobs hire?
ReplyDeleteI'd say Fortner was a Hal Baird hire.
ReplyDeletei think i understand mikchealstd.
ReplyDeleteLebo was a Jacobs hire? right?
ReplyDeletedid you just say I have an std?
ReplyDeleteIf I need to make things clearer, I killed the grizzly bear in the Yukon Territory, and then I posted a picture of the bear on facebook. The fight did not actually take place on facebook.
Oh Yeah, well I killed Facebook and posted it on a cork board known to be looked at by bears.
ReplyDeletesorry..but who is Hal Baird?
ReplyDeleteKnowing bears, they probably barely noticed your post, Frankenbummer. They pay most attention to the info pertaining to honey.
ReplyDeleteYippee!
ReplyDeleteSo is this two SEC championships for Auburn sports this year? womens bball and mens swimming?
std? i thought i was beginning to pick up on your language, sneor mikailivich. obviously, i lack the rosetta stone.
ReplyDeletesneor=senor
ReplyDeleteI can't post stuff to the blog right now for reasons I can't explain. I'll try again when I get home.
ReplyDeleteSincere congratulations to the Lady Tigers!
ReplyDeleteI remember when they were good....it's good to be there again.
War Friggin' Eagle!!!!
"Reasons I can't explain" sounds a lot like matters of national security.
ReplyDeleteI recommend consulting Jet, an obvious political juggernaut, before proceeding.
rippeee...!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to the lady tigers. Now, what the heck is this I hear about snow in Alabama?
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record, Hal Baird is the former baseball coach the rocked.
ReplyDeleteTheory: HABOTNites are a species that slows down when cold, i.e. reptiles, etc. Evidence today's blog activity.
ReplyDeleteWent to Cracker Barrel ... had pancakes and sausages ... and I feel good.
ReplyDeleteLebo was also a Hal hire as well.
ReplyDeleteBig Love = Big Crazy tonight
ReplyDeleteI saw Ginny Goodwin in that faux stewardess get-up and it was exciting.
ReplyDeleteOvershare, but as long as you brought it up, so to speak, did you see her in the babydoll bikni?
ReplyDeleteLebo was hired by Baird.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Nell and while I don't want to deflect the praise that she has earned, the men are playing very well right now. I am very pleased with the state of the game of basketball right now on the Plains.
I have got to hand it to Nell, she has found where the best basketball players are grown in Alabama, that is, anywhere beginning in Pelham and going North with the players getting better the further north you go. The game is just head and shoulders better up there.
Wish I could have been there, but I had a top secret double ought secret mission that I had to perform today involving Azaleas and a recreation of the First Battle of the Somme.
3 episodes left? What will I watch then?
ReplyDeleteBret and Jemaine as Simon & Garfunkel = delicious
ReplyDeleteDepressed, I will be inconsolable at the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteSo, is jay implying that he is a Margene man or was that just a random observation?
ReplyDeleteMrs. Jet watched, while the brother husbands and I washed dishes and did the laundry.
ReplyDeleteI have to iron shirts, make tomorrow's lunches and sew a button before I go to bed, so I guess I shouldn't be HABOTNing.
But I will anyway. I'm occasionally rebellious.
Love the comments from the girls. They should be very proud.
ReplyDeleteAs for Big Love, Nikki is going nuts. Roman will be in charge of Juniper Creek at the end of the season. And Margie will likely get an interesting new job.
Monica, we had to wait, what, 18 months in-between seasons due to writers strike? They owe us more episodes than this. Did you think crazy Wanda was going to be the one to knock Bills' brother's wife off? I thought the pressure was finally going to set her off. And Nikki taking Marge's identity? I may have to watch the 2nd viewing to clarify some things.
ReplyDeleteSo, Jet, that would make you the Nikki of the brother husbands? Rebellious but hard-working and somewhat unstable?
ReplyDeleteUnstable? Yeah, that's me.
ReplyDeleteAnd could anyone tell me if Romans' sibling in the suit, is that a Mr or a Mrs?
ReplyDeleteDepressed, I'm going to watch again for sure. I'm SO loving Nikki hooking up with the cute DA. That's kinda hawt. I thought Wanda was setting up the 2nd wife to get knocked off and she may have sent her off for flowers as part of the plan? I'm not happy that the daughter is not going to ASU.
ReplyDeleteTake care, kiddies.
ReplyDelete4:40 is early.
Roman's sibling is a female.
ReplyDeleteMonica, the daughter is going to need counseling for life. Her family life is a circus, her best friend has stalker written all over her and she just lost a baby. She needs to go into witness protection.
ReplyDeleteI think they should write me in as the counselor! I could offer special perspective for the stalker friend.
ReplyDeleteThe daughter is a great actress.
Female? Thanks. And you are right about the actress portraying Sarah, she has been outstanding this season. You have stalker experience?
ReplyDeleteNo, not really, but I've been accused of being a stalker by other hotties. These accusations were based on my Facebook associations during the coaching search. :-)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Kyle Busch won today. Heck Yeah!
ReplyDeletegood morning Hotties, especially Luv, Jet, Mon and other early risers. Way to go AU bball!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDr. H ...
ReplyDeleteYou are up especially early.
Monica ...
If the shoe fits, ...
Good morning, Hotties! I can't believe it's Monday again already...
ReplyDeleteWay to go Lady Tigers!!! Congrats and War Damn Eagle!!! :-)
Morning Hotties - Snow in northern ATL was a disappointment from the perspective of playing in it with the cub. But, he saw it and thought that was fun. Then there's the whole 'he was born in Utah in a freakish snow event' so, yeah. So anyway, War Eagle to the Ladies.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember if anything in particular is going on today. Another Puppet Day perhaps? We're a couple of days ahead of BBQ day, so why not?
The snow sure was pretty while it lasted...which wasn't very long. As soon as it stopped snowing, the sun came out and the snow melted.
ReplyDeleteGood morning and WDE to both basketball teams, all of a sudden AU looks like a decent program in the men's side and the women look like they're on their way to a No. 1 seed.
ReplyDeleteIt's very nice to be in March and be talking about both Men's & Women's basketball teams with relevant games left to play. I wish this would be a change that was here to stay.
ReplyDeleteHave faith, Eduardo.
ReplyDeleteGenerally, we run in cycles of 3-5 years ... I think we're looking at a 3-5 year run of relevance in men's hoops.
How's that for optimism?
And to think most folks were wanting to run Lebo out of town about a month ago. Us fans, we're silly.
ReplyDeleteSounds like Auburn Basketball Bracketology 101 Mr. Senator from teh Great State of Alabama.
ReplyDeleteAnd, hopefully moreso for the Ladies!
ReplyDeleteOh, we're not going to the Big Dance this year ... the Little One.
ReplyDeleteBut we're getting closer. See, once I jumped off the Lebo bandwagon, we've been on a roll.
So I'm staying off ... fire his butt.
Jet, he does just enough to save his butt, doesn't he?
ReplyDeleteWell doubling your success in the conference isn't necessarily a bad thing. Next year will be the real test.
ReplyDeleteLebo wouldn't have been going anywhere, anyway, much less the way his team has performed this year.
ReplyDeletethere's supposed to be a 'with' in there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Hotties! Happy Read Across America Day/Dr. Suess' Birthday!!
ReplyDeleteKristina, you had quite the adventure yesterday!
ReplyDeleteHe's been safe all along ... unless we had gone 5-11.
ReplyDeleteI just like seeing us play well.
2009 SEC CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletei don't care who you are, that's a nice lookin' sign ain't it? yup. :)
Yep, luv, it was pretty funny. I can't believe I didn't think to go on the field. :-(
ReplyDeletenice pic Kristina. one of my best family christmases was back in 2000 when it snowed in auburn. good times. nothing like having snowmen in front of samford hall on christmas day.
ReplyDeleteKristina, you could have had a snowball fight!
ReplyDeletetodays New Hampshire snow report (because I know you're all interested): 8 inches of snow already, an additional 6-8 expected throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteAnd i drove to work in a civic coupe that doesn't have anti-lock brakes.
So does anyone know anything about this Jay Wisner kid that had an official visit to Auburn this weekend? He's from Montana, so I'm sure that the snow was a familiar sight.
Morning HOTTIES!
ReplyDeleteI too was caught in Auburn yesterday morning after attending a conference and had to drive home in the snow.... it was a beautiful drive back home to Mobile.
Check out my new avatar picture (thats driving into Montgomery on 85 headed west near Eastern Bypass around 7:20am)
Have a HOTTIE Day!
That's my exit, MOBILZ!!!
ReplyDeleteThe kid from Montana was a walk-on candidate, right?
ReplyDeleteSounds like a Publishers Clearing House mailer to me. I could be wrong.
Jay G. Tate said...
ReplyDeleteSounds like a Publishers Clearing House mailer to me.
Jay, I can be a little slow. What did you mean by this?
I hope the Montanan is a long snapper ... or maybe a short snapper for FGs and EPs.
ReplyDeleteI learned two things while at Auburn involving snow. IF you live in sewell hall, do not open your door when someone knocks, because as soon as you open the door, about 15 snowballs come flying in and secondly, don't pick a snowball fight with a QB.
ReplyDeleteLooks like we are losing 3 senior men starters, which seems to be a lot to replace. Are there adequate players to step in and make us even better next season?
ReplyDeleteFrom the cheap seats, it seems that free throws could be greatly improved with coaching/repetition. I guess recruiting kids that grow up with an emphasis on fundamentals would help. How many athletic kids with good fundamentals are even available in the South?
Eddie...I would imagine snowball fights against a shortstop could be dangerous also.
ReplyDeleteHoopie ... I like our signing class. I think we're seeing more of Sullivan, and less of Tez anyway.
ReplyDeleteHargrove should be able to fill the Rasheem role. To me, Knox isn't near the Vot zone, but he's gotten better this year, and that has helped.
Two of the main FT offenders -- Vot and Tez -- are leaving. Maybe we'll do better.
Eddie, don't think that you'll be safe once the snow melts. When I lived there, fire extinguisher fights were very popular.
ReplyDeleteLuvAU1968: I guess he means that the kid has a one-in-million shot a getting a scholarship offer and if he does he'll be giddy and jump around yelling, just like with publisher's clearing house.
ReplyDeleteHey guys, I went to cavs/hawks game lst night and sat next to Kenny Irons and talked to him quite a bit. He was cool but i think we bothered him too much cause he moved down a couple seats after halftime
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense. Thanks, mrdude!
ReplyDeleteMichael (Captain Boxhead) was somehow involved in this. I know it. As sure as I know the sun will come up again tomorrow, I just know he's behind this.
ReplyDeleteDon't let this happen to you
gatiger, LOL. I watched Captain Boxhead this weekend just for a good laugh!
ReplyDeleteGaTiger is right!
ReplyDeleteRahrin!
ReplyDeleteOT: Does anyone around here keep up with the English Premier League?
ReplyDeleteI just got pff the phone with Kenny Irons a few mins ago. He said he went to the Hawks/ Cavs game last night. He had a good time, but some drunk pharmacist guy kept flirting with him and asking him if he liked puppets.
ReplyDeleteOf course, Kenny doesn't like puppets. After all, it was a puppet that started ahead of him in the Ga. Tech game in 2005.
ReplyDeleteJet, seems there was a lot of that happening at the RB position.
ReplyDeleteWow, gatiger. I think our awesome puppet jokes have been ripped off by The Onion. I'll sue!
ReplyDeleteHarrison - Saying that you are a "big fan" doesn't make it any less creepy when you ask him if he is hongry for some Hooters.
SeanZ- I do. I'm happy today after my Manchester United team defeated Tottenham on penalty kicks to win the Carling Cup. How about yourself?
ReplyDeleteHarrison you now get to wear the stalker crown. :-)
ReplyDeleteAh, Monica ...
ReplyDeleteYou don't expect us to believe that you will surrender your hard-earned crown so easily, do you?
Will- did he ask about me? what did he say. do you think he likes me?
ReplyDeleteEddie, I am getting to be a pretty big fan, I was drafted by a guy I used to work with when I was in operations, English guy, straight off the boat. Sadly I was not recruited as a ManU fan.
ReplyDeleteMon- where have you been? you live in the coldest state in the world
ReplyDeleteWar Eagle Lady Tigers!!!
ReplyDeleteGot to ask if any of the Big Lovers noticed last night that Romans' sibling = the actress that played Napoleon Dynamite's grandmother?
SeanZ- My brother has been a fairly big fan for awhile and he got me really into it about 3-4 years ago. I love the sport now, especailly the English league. I find myself listening to Radio 606 all the time and trying to keep up with everything like it is the middle of Auburn Football season. This time of the year is great for it, especially with the Champions League getting very interesting and the fight for the championship and relagation battles. What team were you recruited for...please don't say Liverpool or Chelsea.
ReplyDeleteARSENAL!
ReplyDeleteGood win for the Carling Cup, but beating Totteham in PK, esp for ManU, does not impress me.
ReplyDeleteMichael - you owe me that time back into my life.
ReplyDeleteBaba O'Reilly ... I was too busy making me a dang kaysadilla to notice.
ReplyDeleteThe only European football team I am concerned with TurboProp's high school team, which is 0-3, and yet to score a goal. Unfortunately, TurboProp had a point blank shot Thursday night and he put it in the goalie's gut. I made him sleep outside. I'm tough like that.
Jet, you should have made him watch Bend it like Beckham until he understood.
ReplyDeleteI'll admit that the last few games have not been impressive, but I will take a cup championship victory anyway you can get it. I'm very nervous about the Inter matchup in a week. We did ourselves no favors by not scoring at Inter.
ReplyDeleteYup I feel ya there, Arsenal beat Roma at home but only by 1, so they need a tie to win, but with all their injuries it might be a tall order.
ReplyDeleteAlso they need to blow out this team they're playing on tomorrow, they need the points.
ReplyDeleteEnough of this soccer mess ...
ReplyDeleteWho will our two-deep in the OL? Who will be our two-deep in the secondary? Breakthrough player of 2009? Starting QB for opener?
Starting QB at midseason? Who will coach BC in 2010?
Anyone? Anyone?
OK, start talking about soccer again. Sorry. Didn't mean to be a blog killer.
ReplyDeleteSoccer, we don't need no stinking soccer.
ReplyDeleteAs for the secondary, we should be pretty solid depth wise. I am more conerned with the offensive line and linebackers (believe it or not).
West Brom is bad and Arsenal should be able to get their 3 points there, even with injuries.
ReplyDeleteGoldberg reports that Jimmy Perry is leaving Auburn to be head football coach at St. Paul's in Mobile.
ReplyDeleteWould somebody please explain to me how Wake Forest ends up in the WEST division during March Madness. What are they 150 miles from the Atlantic Ocean?
ReplyDeleteHarrison - I was out of town last week. Did you have fun at Snowshoe? Yep, it's cold. It's 22 right now, 12 wind chill and the sun is shining brightly!
ReplyDeleteMom ...
ReplyDeleteWhen a league has multiple invitees like the ACC, it is common place to spread them across all the brackets. Bottom line, somebody's gotta go West.
Jet, RE: your 11:05 post. This should help Lupe and Troop get in the door for some of the Mobile recruits.
ReplyDeleteMon- we had a great time. it was way nicer than i thought it was going to be. The wind chill was 17 below the night we got there
ReplyDeleteOh, and how do you think they'll spread out all of the SEC teams in the NCAA tourney? I hope AU gets in the same bracket as Arky. We have their # this yr.
ReplyDeletei just hope we don't get in the same bracket as Mercer. They own this state
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were pleasantly surprised and dang that really is cold!
ReplyDeleteHarrison...don't speak ill of my alma mater now...
ReplyDeletere: Jimmy Perry.... I have to think that is good news for AU recruiting efforts in the Mobile area. Congrats Jimmy and good luck down there!
I wasn't Miller, it was a compliment because Mercer beat Auburn and bama in bball this year. they are final four bound!
ReplyDeleteD Mill, trust me, Harrison was complimenting Mercer. We were both there to watch them whip AU. Painful, just painful.
ReplyDeleteHere's a scenario...
You have to pick one member of the men's team to take on Bonner and Smalley in 2 on 2 game to 10. Who do you pick and how much do you lose by?
Tay Waller and hope he goes on a roll. Still loses by 3.
ReplyDeletei'm taking brendan knox. we lose by 1 because of missed free throws
ReplyDeleteOld thread down.
ReplyDelete
