David Oku seeing orange

Hey everyone. Figured I should go ahead and create a thread for this since it's been discussed several times in comments.

Volquest.com, the Tennessee flavor of Rivals.com, reports that TB David Oku of the midwest* has signed a binding LOI with Tennessee. Auburn had been working to sign the speedy tailback since late December.

His finalists were UT, Auburn, Ole Miss and Syracuse.

ps: When in Little Rock and aiming for low-key shenanigans, I highly suggest President Clinton Ave. Seriously. It's fun.

*Oku played at Carl Albert High in suburban Oklahoma City last fall, but now attends a high school in Lincoln, Neb.

  1. Oku is the loneliest number.

  2. Whatever, Auburn is more than one player or one coach. It always has and always will be for me.

  3. Big deal, we already have some good backs coming in, plus I don't think anyone knows where this kids head is at, he may never even step on the field. No real loss here.

    Good morning, Hotties! It's F R I D A Y!!!!!!!!!

    Simple Jack, I agree 100%!

I was a little worried that the Lady Vols were going to disappoint 'cause they looked terrible during the first half. But, they were on fiyah in the second half.

Poor T.O. got cut again (sorry if this has already been discussed on another thread). I'm sorry, but I think it's hysterical. What's even funnier is that none of these other teams want him either:

    The New York Giants.
    The Washington Redskins.
    The Baltimore Ravens.
    The San Francisco 49ers.
    The Minnesota Vikings.
    The Atlanta Falcons.
    The Cleveland Browns.
    The San Diego Chargers.
    The Philadelphia Eagles.
    The New York Jets.
    The Tennessee Titans.
    The St. Louis Rams.
    The New Orleans Saints.
    The Houston Texans.
    The Jacksonville Jaguars.

  7. It's Oku with me that he decided to go to Tennessee ... seems like a nut case. Will fit in there perfectly.

  8. A wonderful Friday morning to you all.

Good riddance Oku. You and Brown are a couple of prima donnas that we can certainly succeed without.

  9. Luv - I sure am glad that my Falcons made your list.

  24. Mon, i had to call my credit union about my account earlier and the lady helping me was a breast cancer survivor. she had been through a lot but felt very blessed she was able to overcome it. :)

  25. Yes, Harrison. You're late to the party.

I didn't realize this thread had been started until I got to work this morning. And I can't post the link from my BB. Check the previous blog entry from last night and you will find the link and info there.

We are currently at 40 entries, and I have set a goal of 100. So we are well on our way. I know we can get there.

  30. Thank you, Mon!

I'm looking for sponsors to provide prizes, but so far I can't find anyone willing to step up.
I have tried to secure child naming rights from one of the Hotties who is expecting. But have been unable to obtain that thus far. I am still trying.

  34. I wonder if we could get a free HABOTN t-shirt donated?
Or, better yet, have one printed that says 1ST ANNUAL HABOTN Bracket Challenge Champ.

  35. D.MILLER, if the winner wears a LARGE i can take care of that. no problem.

  37. I find it interesting that Eddie Gran could not get Oku at AU and is now at UT and got him and has Brown looking at the Vols. He couldn't get a significant sniff of either at AU. Gran and Darth Willis were the only two Tubs assistants I thought were worth a flip the last few years anyway besides Muschamp. The best thing that could happen for the SEC is for Brown to sign with UT and have ultra-drama about who got promised the first play of the 2009 season. Those two and Kiffen would tear that thing apart from the inside out if they do not have a QB like last year.

I would have taken Oku if we got him, but with a few dumptrucks full of salt too...

  38. Let me join Luv and Monica in asking you to support our own J-Z's effort in the fight against cancer.

I lost my mother to lung cancer in 1997, and my father died in 2007 of a blood disease caused by his earlier fight against bladder cancer.

Mama had suffered for 15 years with a severe case of rheumatoid arthritis. She was ill prepared physically for the fight against cancer. She died 7 months after her diagnosis.

Dad beat cancer, and for 12 years was cancer free, but the chemotherapy he underwent led to another leukemia-like illness. The second illness didn't bother him the first year, but it started to show in the second year. The last six months were a rapid decline until his death.

I dare say everyone who passes through HABOTN County has been has had a loved one affected by it. It's a fight worthing fighting and winning.

It's also a reminder that we all have people we love, and they won't be with us forever, nor we with them. Cherish the time you do have, and never, ever take it for granted.

    ReplyDelete
  39. this loss actually makes me feel better.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm in for the fight against cancer. It has done it's work in my family as well. What do I need to do?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oku to Tennessee is perfect.

He'll be on the sideline standing next to Eddie because he doesn't know the playbook well enough, or isn't blocking effectively.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Support Cancer every way you can. As has been mentioned above all of us have probably been touched by this nightmare. My baby sister died of lung cancer in 1998 she was only 58. Young for us old folks. As far as Oku is concerned we did not need that prima donna at Auburn we play football not dancing with the stars.

  43. Morning Hotties - I've lost both parents, one grandparent, an aunt, an uncle, and my brother in law to cancer. I have a very good friend who is a breast cancer survivor. Mrs. Gatiger's primary client for several years has been a regional cancer foundation which helps provide a number of services for victims undergoing treatment. So, yeah, I'm no fan either.

  53. Completely unrelated to anything, but since not much else seems to be going on here at the moment, gatiger would like to report that participating in conference calls while sitting on your home sofa is much nicer than participating while sitting in your chair at the actual office.

  54. HOTTIES WAY WAY > THANK EVERYONE ELSE

Thanks for the support via your story, Jet.

Thanks to everyone who has donated. If you can't donate I totally understand that, but do SOMETHING - help raise money via the Relay for Life, the Komen 3 Day Walk, encourage your loved ones to get their exams - whatever it is, you CAN do something. Just please take the time to do it.

  56. So i went to the watchmen last night. 3hrs long, pee before ya go in and don't take the kids thinkin it's a comic book movie, VERY adult themes, as you would know if you read it. Great fight scenes and LOTS of arm/leg breaking.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hittin up watchmen tonight. great read...looks like a cool movie.

  58. War Eagle hawties! I've never been off work and counting the seconds until the tip of a women's b-ball game before!! This is uncharted territory or me!!

  59. I really hope nothin happens to bama in this "bookgate" thing. It'd be awful to have so many people that are such beacons of light to me upset and unconsolable in these uncertain times.

  60. I'm with you Andrew (except I'm at work)....I've never had my entire day's thoughts revolving around the women's SEC tourny before. Better than thinking about "major violations" I guess.....

    ReplyDelete
  65. No. you were correct the first time. Women is already plural so the possessive plural is women's.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Agreed hornet! Thinking about session 3 of the tournament is way better than thinking of MAJOR violations my school has admitted to committing and knowing my school has a new ticket with the NCAA. I bet they're on campus right now digging..and digging...and digging...Woo-hoo!!!

I wanted to thank each of you who have supported my efforts with Relay for Life so far this year. The response from the HOTTIES has been both amazing and humbling. Big thanks to Mon for posting the link and donating, Jet for donating and being Jet, Scottie B for donating, and honestly, I'm not sure who Hotties for a Cure is, but he donated $100 right out of the gate. You guys take this Auburn family thing to heart.

I will post the link again for anyone interested in reading about my family's trials with cancer.
