What does that have to do with Auburn?
Well, that's probably a wrap on the Tigers' NCAA hopes. Both Joe Lunardi (ESPN) and Jerry Palm (CollegeRPI.com) left Jeff Lebo's boys off their proposed brackets ... and that was before MSU earned the unexpected bid.
Barring some completely unforeseen development, Auburn will make the National Invitation Tournament as a top-three seed.
BASEBALL UPDATE:

Tennessee def. Auburn, 7-1 (game two)
**Tigers hit four homers in Game One. Now up to 39 this season.
**Tigers saw their 11-game winning streak broken.

pop pop goes the bubble.
ReplyDeleteBoom goes the ---wait that's football sorry
ReplyDeleteMay happen though-never know
ReplyDeleteUAB, Georgetown, Notre Dame and Florida (again) top my list of teams I'd like Auburn to beat down in front of a rowdy 6,000 fans in the NIT.
ReplyDeleteMIKE SLIVE NEEDS TO PULL SOME STRINGS AND SEND THESE LITTLE SAN DIEGO ST. SCHOOLS PACKING.
ReplyDeleteI would love to beat Georgetown.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the NIT will be ripe with schools that would be really fun to beat!
ReplyDeleteMSG, here we come.
ReplyDeleteAt least UAT is not even in the conversation! All that talent they have up there is just sitting there, wasting away, and deciding when they are going to declare for the draft and not get drafted like all the losers before them.
ReplyDeleteWar Eagle!
As much as I hate it, we did this to ourselves by losing to Mercer, Dayton and N. Iowa. If those losses were to Gonzaga, Kansas and Memphis we would be in. Tennessee figured that out.
ReplyDeletedouble headers are 7 innings, right?
ReplyDeleteHubs coming in to close the seventh.
ReplyDeleteJim, I think it also may have something to do with the fact that we have Auburn across the front of our jersey. No respect.
ReplyDeleteTennessee has runners on 1st and 3rd, no outs.
ReplyDeleteOne down.
ReplyDeleteNow on 2nd and 3rd.
ReplyDeleteYou're right Barkley. It doesn't help that we were on national TV once this year. UT was on at least 10 times.
ReplyDeleteOne run in on a sac fly. Two down.
ReplyDeleteAuburn wins, 8-5.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jay G!
ReplyDeleteany interesting stats from game one?
Four dongs ... now 39 this season.
ReplyDeleteBen Jones went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
ReplyDeleteBarkley, I don't think lack of respect was limited to just Auburn though. It was the entire SEC west. Lunardi said that we were in the weaker division of a below average conference. But the facts say that the west went 18-18 against the east in the regular season, had 3 of the 4 semifinalists and winner of the tourny.
ReplyDeleteBen Jones is having a good week.
ReplyDelete4 Ding Dongs is good...Despite the fact that I prefer good pitching to hitting, I'm loving the 2008 Florid Marlins being reincarnated as Auburn.
BEC Home games in the NIT tourny should bring 10's of rabid fans.
ReplyDeleteA crab sandwich on the harbor in San Diego does tend to ease the pain of not going to the Dance. Even if we had won Saturday and lost to State today, we would be on the outside looking in. 'Dems da breaks.
ReplyDeleteOverall record now?
ReplyDeleteBaseball now 13-4, 2-0 in SEC.
ReplyDeleteJet...ya gotta eat fish tacos while in San Diego. The best ones have fried fish on a flour tortilla with cabbage and a white "baja" sauce. Ask around for recommendations. The locals are proud of their fish tacos and will gladly provide eatery choices.
ReplyDeleteI've never met a fishy taco that I didn't like.
ReplyDeletePF....I got ya, but I ain't going there....I fear the banhammer
ReplyDeleteFish Taco always gets an immature laugh out of me...probably always will.
ReplyDeleteAuburn now is on Lunardi's "next four out" category.
ReplyDeleteNot looking good for the Lebos.
Call it sour persimmons if you will, but I think hosting a first-round NIT game against a 'name' school, hopefully in front of an enthusiastic semi-large home crowd, would be better off for the program than flying to Portland OR and getting beat by Purdue by double digits on the first day.
ReplyDeleteHoopie ... That's tomorrow's lunch plan.
ReplyDeleteWhat would our seed have been if we had gotten in 10-12ish?
ReplyDeletejhag, it probably have been 12
ReplyDeleteAuburn down 6-1 in Knoxville.
ReplyDeleteAlabama State goes to Dayton!
ReplyDeletePlay-in game against Morehead State.
Fightin' LewJacks gonna stomp Agnes Morehead State!
ReplyDeleteBeen lurking for months, finally decided to join in.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the College Basketball Invitational tourney? Do they pick after the NIT?
