Hall of Fame adjustments

Hey everyone. As many of you learned in last night's Campfire, we will be holding our semi-annual Ring of Fire inductions this afternooon.

The festivities begin around 2 p.m. CDT. We may or may not hold a Campfire.

The Ring of Fire is the highest honor one can achieve here. Inclusion requires unusual dedication, serially useful insights, humor, information and profound gibberish when necessary. Or other behaviors I deem worthy.

Before we make those announcements, though, we need to make some adjustments to our Feeling The Heat and Notable Newcomers categories. Before our soon-to-be stars were in the RoF, they were cutting their teeth as gritty up-and-comers.

FROM "NOTABLE NEWCOMERS" TO "FEELING THE HEAT"
Dear Leader -- Quick on the draw, our favorite Korean
Kathy -- Calming presence
The Front Rims -- Campfire stalwarts
D.Miller -- Campfire stalwart, bracket magnate
j-z -- Subtle yet significant
patdyeswildturkey -- Still here

DEBUTS ON "FEELING THE HEAT"
(These are HOTTIES whose recognition was delayed. Sorry.)
mrtommyd -- Consistency
LuvAU1968 -- Early-morning HOTTIE, been around here a while
Harrison -- Afternoon marionette

DEBUTS ON "NOTABLE NEWCOMERS"
ehyoutiger
digger4au
Will
Hornet -- back for another tour

  2. Dear Leader can't win the one post where he gets praise for being quick. Irony.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Anonymous10:08 AM

    Ha that is funny!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Ah, but there was mention of gibberish in your post, so me winning is ironic and fulfilling all that the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Wow, it's kind of surprising to see the size of the list of people who regularly post here. I knew it was a lot, but I don't think I realized it was that many.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Anonymous10:10 AM

Your still celebrating St. Patty's aren't you Michael?

    ReplyDelete
  7. I didn't know what to do with Z4Z.

Until we determine his story, I'll leave him/her off the lists. Come correct!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I thought Z4Z was an alias for someone that Mon knew ... or something like that

    ReplyDelete
  9. Is Auburn going to be at least on some kind of regional channel tonight? I know they aren't on ESPN.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I also believe Z4Z is an alias.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yea!! Imade it to the first rung of the ladder. J have enjoyed this blog. Still mot fast enough for the ring of fire but I try.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Cotton, I don't think this bad boy is going to be televised. I'm surprised myself.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Cotton, I think someone mentioned yesterday that they are showing everyone BUT Auburn on regional viewing.

    ReplyDelete
  14. And JGT - I am honored to be mentioned.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Z4z is quite the mystery

    ReplyDelete
  16. What is this with ESPN and Auburn. Are they still pissed about Tubs calling them out? This is getting ridiculous. If Auburn makes it to the final 4 will ESPN decide to show reruns of Ohios State football games?

    ReplyDelete
  17. WOW! This has to go down as one of my prouder days. I'd like to thank my 2 pointer fingers for doing all the leg work. Jay G. Tate for his blog and hard work and love of all things technology.
Most of all I'd like to thank myself for being snarky, sometime hateful and most of all super-cool

    ReplyDelete
  18. Tubs called out ESPN?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Don't forget humble.

    ReplyDelete
  20. what's with all of the hyphens in the Lebo article? I found it distracting...

Good article, though, Jay G. I was wondering if you would be writing it and looked forward to reading the story. Kudos.

    ReplyDelete
  21. thanks Mon. I knew I left something off. It happens in all the excitement

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well I'm glad to still be on feeling the heat list, since I haven't been regular in my postings.

    ReplyDelete
  23. What is the dress for the ceremony?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anonymous10:37 AM

You can tell definitely today is the first day of spring with all the excitement!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Anonymous10:38 AM

Jet - Don't ask DL that question.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Surely, he would wear a bow tie for the gala event.

    I've picked out my duds.

    ReplyDelete
  27. TOGAAA!!! TOGAAAA!!! TOGAAA!!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've changed my picture in defense of the "high-five". "Five" bashing has gone on here much too long.

    ReplyDelete
  29. i got a sweet tuxedo t-shirt and fake thong pants, like we discussed yesterday. Dress socks pulled up nice and high with sandals

    ReplyDelete
  30. Nice Cotton! I also love that show. The sportscenter one this week was funny

    ReplyDelete
  31. Harrison ...

Congrats on your award. True snark is always noticed.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Since Tub worked for ESPN during recruiting, I seriously doubt they are upset with him.

Every teams fans think ESPN and the national media are against them.

I don't think there are any NIT games on TV tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Peter: We're doing some new stuff to accommodate iPhone users. Maybe that's why you're seeing dashes?

(I don't see any dashes on my browser or iPhone.)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well, hate to see that I'm getting dropped. In my defense I drop by every day, just haven't had anything to say, and I entered the bracket contest. Anyway, I will be attending tonight's festivities at BEMC. War Eagle!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I got and gave (at the same time!) a high five just this morining. It was awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 10-4 Jay G....thought it was strange.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Peter- It feels empowering, doesn't it? A good figh five every now and then is great. It's when people over-do it and try to give fives on things that aren't five worthy- they are tarnishing the five and making it less meaningful.

Harrison- Yes, from what I saw of the most recent episode it was funny. I missed part of it because I forgot the new episodes were starting again this week. They hadn't had one since mid february. It was depressing.

    ReplyDelete
  38. thanks jet. I'd like to think you might have helped in some way.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Just to throw this out there: there might have been a rumor going round that I am Z4Z judging from a comment or two at the campfire. I will go on the record and say I am not Z4Z. You guys may be talking about him as someone else's alias, but like Bob Dylan once said, "Why'd you bring him in here for, he ain't that guy."

    ReplyDelete
  40. Dan, sorry about the drop.

    I'll restore your status.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Why did Scrubs blow so many of their episodes in one hour blocks earlier this year? I didn't like having to deal with a hiatus on a show that is only on for half the year anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Fair enough, Michael.

    You're off the hook.

I'm not surprised to hear you watch Scrubs.

    ReplyDelete
  43. that was weird michael. I am glad it's back on though. That is one of the very few shows that makes me laugh.

what's the deal withj aliases, alia, alias', whatever. What's wrong with just being yourself

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thanks for the recognition, JGT! But, mostly thanks for providing a blog I can get addicted to. My wife is on the brink of an intervention due to my addiction.
    Don't worry, I won't let it work.

As for Z4Z... He's a regular on the ITAT boards... And he's just as annoying there as he is in Campfire. I'd just assume leave him off any list, save the banhammer one. And that is based solely on the level of his annoying behaviour.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think my dad is gonna call in school and tell them I can go home...he's an avid bball fan, thank god

    ReplyDelete
  46. yes, Jay G. I never thought i'd be a part of a nerdy internets blog, given my ummm dislike of nerdy internet stuff.
This is truly different, I enjoy it, the people make me giggle a little. and it passes time at work

    ReplyDelete
  47. oh, and there is good football insight and updates which i guess is the whole point.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Anonymous10:59 AM

My wife call you all my blogger friends. "Are you spending time with your blogger friends?"

    ReplyDelete
  49. What difference would it make, jhag? All you'd do is post on here if you were at school.
Go home and watch basketball.... At least then you get to enjoy your surroundings.

    ReplyDelete
  50. nobody ever learnt nuttin in skewl

    ReplyDelete
  51. And for me, its the one place I can really find out whats going on with Auburn sports. Not just football. And I don't have to read all the garbage that some ignorant crimson people feel they have to write. Atleast on this blog there are intelligent Bama folks. Talk about a contradiction in terms.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Syracuse up next at 11:15. I've got them winning the National Championship, upsetting UNC in the elite 8. I hope they at least win the first 2 rounds, or I'll feel very stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Maybe you should go to school Cotton.

    ReplyDelete
  54. jhag ditchin school!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm in school right now. I guess it isn't helping.

I just didn't see North Carolina making it all the way. They're streaky. Syracuse is clutch. It could happen.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anonymous11:11 AM

I found out my 6th grade son in his class watched the MD game. I guess his teacher went to MD.

    ReplyDelete
  57. If Lawson can't go UNC has no shot in my opinion. It's not a bad pick actually

    ReplyDelete
  58. It seems like UNC has been bluffing about Lawson being day-to-day. He's been nearly ready for, what, 2 months? Maybe not that long, but it's gone on for a while now.

    ReplyDelete
  59. If he is healthy or near healthy, I don't think anyone can beat UNC if they decide they want to win. Louisville has the best shot

    ReplyDelete
  60. Is this the Make-A-Wish team playing Syracuse?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Barack said it was the special olympics team

    ReplyDelete
  62. They look like they've got four guards under 5-8 and a 6-2 center.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Yes Tubs did call ESPN out back awhile. I don't really believe they are still pissed but they sure don't give Auburn nuch TV time. Football nor Basketball. But I am lucky we have a local radio station that carries the auburn network.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  65. digger- at one point Auburn had been on espn (football) more than any other team in the nation. May not be anymore, though.

    ReplyDelete
  66. wow, I knew I was gettin old but didn't realize I was an old blogger!

    ReplyDelete
  67. J. You made note of this the other day and it seems like all spring practices will be closed to the public. I guess some bet writers will be allowed to view them but the average fan will not see anything until A day game.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Sorry for the previous removal....this new catchy avatar should help me complete my life's ambition of making the notable newcomers list.

    ReplyDelete
  69. love watching the game at work on cbssports.com!

Does anyone remember when they set up a tv in the gym during world series week? Now it's available everywhere

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  74. did i just twitter? oh god, i hope not.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Agreed War Eagle Girl...The boss button came in handy a few years back.

    ReplyDelete
  76. what is a boss button? Is that to hide what you are doing? I just keep the window open since I listen to talk radio all day at work anyway

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm flattered to be known as the "calming presence." My family will get a big kick out of that! Thanks Jay G for this blog. Great group of folks with lots of wonderful info.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Kathy - I think that perfectly characterizes your HABOTN presence. Hope you got some rest last night and that your mom is doing better.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I think I am a calming presence. Wouldn't you agree, mond?

    ReplyDelete
  80. cotton - a picture of Todd from scrubs would be ideal for the high five
weg - boss button is for those who fear unemployment
Luke - the list is long but distinguished
    Jay - thanks for noticing

    ReplyDelete
  81. harrison - is he gonna catch heat for that? my wife is a special ed teacher and she was offended (kind of....she moved on quickly)

    ReplyDelete
  82. kathy - sometimes when I'm overly zealous about some domestic issue, I log on and read your posts as a calming influence

    ReplyDelete
  83. WEG- Boss Button = Excel Spreadhsheat clone on cbssports media player. It's in your top right hand corner. Hit for fun.

    ReplyDelete
  84. EZ - When you twitter you'll know it.

    ReplyDelete
  85. hornet- Obama is nearly untouchable, so nothing will come of it. I just wonder if G W Bush would have said it what would have happened

    ReplyDelete
  86. No sleep last night Mon, but she is sawing some logs right now! Its a good time for me to catch up on all the HABOTN news.

    ReplyDelete
  87. If GW said it -- he would have been impaled and impeached

Vols should win this game -- especially if it finishes in the 80s which its on pace to do

    ReplyDelete
  88. president on a stick?

  93. You think you have it bad, AU1??? Just be glad you're not poor lil ole, Hag!

    ReplyDelete
  94. poor ol' Harrison worked 8a-7p yesterday and also today. i also can not watch it at work. Do i get the pity award?

    ReplyDelete
  95. harry, here's your pity

    ReplyDelete
  96. I haven't been in the office since last Friday ... where's my pity?

    ReplyDelete
  97. somehow videos/sound is blocked. some webistes blocked also, but not HABOTN!!

I don't understand computers and internets too good, so i really can't explain

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anonymous12:26 PM

It is interesting, I can blog, can't campfire or watch videos. Can't get on Facebook, YouTube, Chatroll, Myspace....how do they expect me to function!

And your right Mon, at least I am not in school.

    ReplyDelete
  99. "Harry" oooo that's just too, too perfect. :-)

Poor Jet! Forced to lounge around his house watching basketball and eating some kind of corn and copia. Gawd luv your heart.

    ReplyDelete
  100. yeah, i came back to work but don't know why since it seems all of the gump is out of town!

    ReplyDelete
  101. No sleep yet Mon, but I get to go home tonight. My brother volunteered to stay, so I can get a good night's sleep.

Is the TN game on anywhere?

    ReplyDelete
  102. AU1 I was being a facetious because Hag was complaining about how restrictive high school is - Hag - who spends all of class texting and posting on habotn - well that is when his dad isn't checking him out to watch bball. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  103. "a bit facetious" that should have said

    ReplyDelete
  104. kathy, we are definitely the sandwich generation....going both ways to look after everyone...it gets harder to go without sleep the older you get

    ReplyDelete
  105. easy to watch at cbssports.com

    ReplyDelete
  106. I think the last time I got a good night sleep multiple days in a row was during summer break of 2001. Since then, probably averaging an 8 hour night of sleep maybe once a month.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Anonymous12:34 PM

Mon - It is comical the "stress" they feel these days in school.

I am just hoping to continue to go to an office everyday, which is changing because they are closing mine in July. I get to work from home.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Anonymous12:34 PM

Michael - Depends if I drink..I may get a lot of sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  109. heading out for a lunch break....check back for the festivities later....war eagle hotties!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Thanks WEG. We are definitely the sandwich generation. In between my hospital stay, my husband and I had to drive down to Orange Beach on Tuesday to rescue my daughter who was Spring Breaking with 11 other sorority sisters. My mom was doing great when she left. She was worried about her grandma and wanted to come home. I did stay down there long enough to get me some boiled shrimp at Doc's Seafood Shack. We got home at 1:05 a.m. The things we do for our kids!

Found the TN game on my local CBS channel.

    ReplyDelete
  111. OK, now there's a link to a dance remix of Congresswoman Corrine Brown's salute to the Florida Gators on everydayshouldbesaturday.com.

    It's too funny.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Kathy ...

I love going to Doc's. Nothing like a dive at the beach.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Jet, the shrimp was terrific. It was St Patrick's Day and there were a bunch of Snow Birds there partying hardy! Almost worth the 13 hour round trip!

    ReplyDelete
  114. Anonymous12:54 PM

WOW! I feel truly honored. I skipped the first rung and headed right up to "Feeling the Heat." Like D. Miller and Harrison, I would like to thank Jay G. Tate for all his hard work on this blog. I would also like thank it's many members who always keep it worth coming back to (sorry Monica, didn't know how else to word it).

    ReplyDelete

  130. It's kind of crazy that ESPN's live scoreboard links directly to the CBS video feed. I love it when networks work together (unlike when NBC doesn't let anyone use their olympic highlights)

Navin R. Johnson: Nothing? Are you kidding? Page 73 - Johnson, Navin R.! I'm somebody now! Millions of people look at this book everyday! This is the kind of spontaneous publicity - your name in print - that makes people. I'm in print! Things are going to start happening to me now.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Just read all of the posts. Random Thoughts
    1) Scrubs= Awesometaneous
    2) Two great games with Okie State just winning and Marquette about to win... hopefully.
    3) I don't feel the least bit sorry for Jhag, when I went to high school in the stone ages (early to mid 2000's) I didn't get to read blogs in class (not sure I knew what a blog was), and I never got checked out to watch bball. (Although did get checked out from time to time to go ride dirtbikes and mountain bikes).

    ReplyDelete
  140. HA HA DL

Was running the country keeping you from posting during the Campfire? I missed you posts.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Sorry your homesick Mon, I miss Alabama a good bit, and I only lived there a few years.

Oh and forgot to mention, I feel ultra special for being on the Notable Newcomers list.

  148. nice shot by utah state at the end, but it didn't make sense to me. He had 3 choices: A- run like crazy and make a shot ASAP to leave time on clock, B- Shoot 3 and try to draw contact, and C- take up all the time and don't draw contact, thus making it impossible to tie. He chose the dumb one.

    ReplyDelete
  152. The Marquette and OSU wins were enough to put me into the top 10, one point out of the lead, had I gone with my gut and picked WKU I'd have a share of the lead. Then again had I gone with my gut and picked Northern Iowa I would be farther out of the lead.

    My tummy has mixed results.

  153. Why do announcers say shooters have "unlimited range?" I'm going to guess that I could find a spot on the floor where they would make less than half their shots.

  154. Sup Hotties,
Top of the afternoon to you....

Does it make me a bad worker if i have been sittin' in my office since 12:30pm watching the NCCA bball games on TV.....

I would think it's SOP for a Friday.... thoughts anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  155. Mobilz!!!

That's not only allowed, it expected.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I had to kick off my heels, Jet and I think my hair may have fallen a little. Thankfully, I have my emergency hair pins.

Mobilz! I think you should be commended for even showing up to the office today.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Thanks Jet,
