Hey everyone. Hope you're wearing green.
Here is the best YouTube video of all time ... in honor of the Chrichton Leprechaun. If you haven't seen this before, prepare to cry from laughter.
Also, I love the TV lead: "Curiousity leads to large crowds in Mobile's Chrichton community ..."

ReplyDeletejay g,
ReplyDeleteit seems a mighty giant has fallen with the seattle post intelligencer going to online only as of today. how long until other giants fall?
is there anything behind the gadsden/alabama recruiting stuff that people have brought up, or just internet rumor?
by the way my shift key at work apparently isn't working.
I too want the gold. Where the gold at?
ReplyDeletethat video never gets old JG.
ReplyDelete"it must be a crackhead....got hold of the wrong stuff."
classic.
Happy St. Patty's Day to you too, Jay G. and to all the Hotties.
ReplyDeleteThe print industry is in serious trouble. I think the days of free reporting (ie newspaper sites and associated blogs) will end one of these days.
ReplyDeleteSouthpark will apparently have a reference to the Chrighton Leprechaun video tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteTo me it looked like a Leprechaun to me.
Pure gold.
Mon, i love how you changed your pic to show you're wearing green today. i just noticed.
ReplyDeleteand where is everybody at today? taking the day off sipping on green brew? must be nice.
i'm out looking for leprechauns...be back later.
ReplyDeleteJay G, my theory is that internet is not killing the newspapers, people are just becoming less and less informed. They are using internet as the reason they say they are not buying newspapers, but I don't think they are getting news anywhere.
ReplyDeleteOk I know Ive been out of the loop of any other sports besides AU lately, but Bryce Brown committed to UT???!??
ReplyDeleteHow did that happen?? Eddie Gran is a beast!! LOL
Jay G., what relation are you to JG Wentworth? Maybe he could help the Advertiser out.
ReplyDelete"It's my money and I need it now!"
I hate it when threads about leprechauns in Mobile get hijacked.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Bryce Brown and David Oku, that's what I say.
ReplyDeleteOver/under on a full-scale NCAA investigation into Lane Kifin's recruiting practices?
Happy St Patties day to all. That video is a classic I am sure it is a crack head dun got sum bad stuff. Could be St Nick in his green suit.
ReplyDeleteHey Michael, turn that frown upside down. Why do birds suddenly appear Every time you are near? Just like me, they long to be
ReplyDeleteClose to you.
Happy St.Patricks Day Hotties!!Just woke up...I know..I know...
ReplyDeleteJG, in response, I think they should be penalized for taking their shirts off as a group and flexing in front of teenage boys. Too bad Chris Hansen wasn't there for this "recruting" visit.
ReplyDeleteAnd now I am happy! Thanks, Denny.
ReplyDeleteThanks for noticing, Scottie B. You're the best.
ReplyDeleteDenny - Lots of research dollars by people investing the money to find out say you're wrong. People get their news. They just want it fast and on the fly.
I think the fact that the NYTimes has a huge contingent at the South By Southwest festival/conference in Austin, TX is pretty telling.
The SXSW: "In its 22 years, SXSW has grown from a tiny music festival in the Texas capital into a massive, unavoidable media beast that reflects, discusses and showcases trends in culture and media but also often creates them." National Post, 3/13/08
1 season Jay...NFL guys recruiting?...c'mon...
ReplyDeleteNeale and Isaac had a lot of fun with that leprechaun episode. I sure do miss them at WNSP
ReplyDeleteJay G. HA HA I wonder if bama may see an opportunity for revenge. Goodness knows it appears Kiffin is doing his best to serve himself up on a silver platter.
ReplyDeleteut also doesn't have doug dickey as athletic director and he was always good at keeping the ncaa and any trouble away from ut.
ReplyDeleteThey get bits and pieces of news. Unfortunately, they have to seek it out. How many times when you read a magazine or newspaper do you find out something that you didn't really look for, all the time. Again, I say people are less informed by using the internet to get news. They don't 'blunder' into knowledge like they used to. They find out limited information and go. Also, as with lots of surveys, in terms of that type of stuff, I think it is overstated by people exactly how much news they get.
ReplyDeleteDenny are you on the Board of Directors at Gannett?
ReplyDeleteWhere da gold at!!!??????
ReplyDeleteA true Mobile classic!
I sent it to friends across the country to remind them where they came from.
T-shirts featuring the artist's rendering of the leprechaun are available somewhere. My bro-in-law has one.
Personally, I think Hello Kiffin and the boys should have to notify the neighborhood when they are around.
ReplyDeleteThat train looks like it's bound for probation station.

ReplyDeleteI would say I easily stumble on as much random news I wasn't looking for on the internet as I ever did in the newspaper. I think the thing that is missing online will be the longer editorial pieces and the investigative wing of print journalism. All people want now are blurbs on the internet.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, yes, I still get the newspaper. Supporting journalism, baby!
Not on Gannett, just believe that the masses, the great unwashed, the proletariats, are becoming less and less informed.
ReplyDeleteEverybody say, "YEYAH!"
ReplyDeleteyeyah
ReplyDeleteThis could be the greatest thread in HABOTN history. I wanna know where da gold at.
ReplyDeleteYeyah!!
ReplyDeleteNever know what the subject of the hotties will be. I still read the newspaper every day. Do watch news channels and use the computer also.
ReplyDeleteYEYAH!
ReplyDeleteBut what I want to know...
ReplyDeleteIs it a lovely day on the Coosa???
Green Crack is a helluva drug
ReplyDeleteBoy O' Boy I hope the days of print news doesn't die. I for one can't stand to read the news(paper) online. I prefer the feel of the paper in my hand. Its a daily ritual to eat my lunch while sarting with sports and then working my way through it. Hard to eat a sandwich with one hand on the mouse and the other on the keyboard.... Have had a 7-day subscription to my local fish wrap (AJC) for more years than I care to remember.....
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patty's Day All.
LT
newspaper=rotary phone
ReplyDeleteMon it is a gorgeous day on the banks of the coosa river. Bright sunshine and going up to 70 degrees. I will be back after lunch. Go to make a call on my rotory phone.
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect, Dig.
ReplyDeletedigger, I hope the person you call doesn't have a bunch of zeroes in their #. Too many zeros on a rotary phone can result in dialing finger injury.
ReplyDeleteI heard Borat infiltrated (sp?) the National Guard in Anniston. Have any of you seen when he dresses up as a Euro. gay guy and goes to the UAT football game. HI-freakin-LARIOUS.
For St. Pat Sullivan's Day, I am wearing an orange and white checked Ralph Lauren button down and my navy Auburn tie. That's the St. Pat's Day way to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteFor nearly a century, Jet family members have had a love affair with the printed word. It is a sad, sad time. But it is time for hospice care. Losing a home delivered newspaper, mind you, is no big deal to some, but to a few of us, it is a reminder that one near and dear is soon to leave us, too. Sorry for the buzzkill.
ReplyDeleteYeah, thanks, Jet.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but we'll all be dead from global warming soon, and until then we will be really distracted by the collapse of the American economy. This should all lessen the blow of losing newspapers.
ReplyDeleteMichael = Algore
ReplyDeleteJay G.
ReplyDeleteThat's Just Wrong Dude!!!!
I think I just made everyone go kill themselves. Sorry. But I guess it doesn't matter, we'll all be dead soon anyway.
ReplyDeleteSo True Michael..... It is a scientific acumen that 100% of the people who drink milk die....
ReplyDeleteLT
Hey Will my one typing finger is abour wore out. dang it's a lot different than when my number was BR549. algorey is back in his prime now.
ReplyDeletewhew! I'm in the clear. I don't drink milk
ReplyDeleteand also a 100% of the people who drink water also die. What is a body to do.DRINK beer
ReplyDeleteLooks like New Jersey is going to be out for me. It's too expensive. Hopefully I can go to OKC if Auburn wins both games at Rutgers.
ReplyDeleteSo it goes.
Upside: I won't miss the first day of spring football next Tuesday!
My football radar just went crazy. Did someone mention football?
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait 'till Tuesday JGT.
ReplyDeleteI bet motel rooms cost a fortune up there. The NCAA is doing as expected on this bracket set up. Place Auburn in as tough of a postiion as possible to see if they can rise to the top. Of course there is no bias anywhere things just seem to work out that way.
ReplyDeleteIt's a tough bracket. Yes.
ReplyDeleteDear Kodi,
ReplyDeleteDo you suck for real or was it just temporary? I honestly don't know. If you have the choice, playing good is better than playing not good.
Yours truly,
ehyoutiger
great video, how stupid can they be
ReplyDeleteYou'd almost think it wasn't real.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they are all way smarter than us and it was an elaborate hoax to get on tv.

Off subject but...
ReplyDeleteCents green is the order of the day, I would like to recommend some reading to the hotties that can benefit everyone. You just might learn where da gold at too.
Go buy the paperback The Wall Street Journal: Guide to the End of Wall Street As We Know It by Dave Kansas.
It is current through early 2009 and explains what the heck happened simply enough for schmucks like me to understand it. It is about as much fun reading as performing eye surgery on yourself, but it explains why us taxpayers should even bailout the bums at AIG. I wish we could just let all those who make bad bets go bust, but the consequences would, and still may be, far worse than if we didn't.
Scumbags like Madoff should be publicly hung in front of the stock exchange like Mussolini to remind anyone else who wants to willingly defraud honest investors and taxpayers where they and their ill gained assets will end up. Drastic times call for drastic measures.
as a born and bred Mobilian -- I am so proud of that video. I went to school in Crichton, that's right...UMS-Wright Preparatory School is officially in Crichton. And that's where the golds at
ReplyDeleteBack to football.
ReplyDeleteI just want a QB and OC who has mastered the art of the forward pass.
just a quick check in -- hope all the hotties are doing great. It's spring break and I'm painting the nursery for little D who will be here in 3 months WDE
ReplyDeleteFor my money, there is no better group in rock history than Wilson Philips.
ReplyDeleteThe Bangles can play and sing really wide circles around Wilson Philips
ReplyDeleteLink to join Brackets

C'mon folks... just a couple of days left to get in.
I'd take gwen stefani over any of those chicks
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the new Daniel Moore print? It will be called "The Blowout", according to an article on Al.com. Of course, it is from last years AU game. I hope I live to see the day he draws one entitled "NCAA Returns To T-Town." Daniel Moore and all things Bama are scum of the Earth.
ReplyDeleteLetz go Hornets!!!!
ReplyDeleteMight I say that the noted Master of March, Denny Crum, has been conjuring up his magic this month. It's like Junior Bridgeman is running loose again.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it's an insult to wear orange on St.Patty's day. From what I understand, green and orange are enemies in Ireland.
ReplyDeleteI got something Daniel Moore can blowout rite ova heah!
ReplyDeleteSorry if I'm not kid friendly but Bama hate is Bama hate.
What's he gonna paint?
ReplyDeleteMcElroy throwing a meaningless hail mary touchdown in the 4th?
Hornet knows where the gold's at. i say we grab him and torture him till he spills the beans. any takers?
ReplyDeleteHow the painting by Jet Picasso dedicated to UAT?. It's called "The Finger."
ReplyDeleteFYI...I bought that guy's magical flute on Ebay. 30 minutes ago. What?
ReplyDeleteIf Mr. Malzahn can hang 50 on them before he leaves to be a HC, put his face on the side of the stadium with the caption, "SHUT UP!"
ReplyDeleteMalzahn is here to stay :)
ReplyDeleteWell, so much for the impression of Alabama as a backward state with a bunch of hicks in it. We now have video confirmation.
ReplyDeleteWash the flute and have a shaman exorcise it before putting it on your mouth.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have any ideas for a personalized AU-themed plate. Can only be 5 characters, and be creative, almost everything is taken.
ReplyDeleteI just killed the first indoor mosquito of the season on my computer screen...ugh!
ReplyDeleteMosquitos are a close number two to Bama on the list of things I hate. Bammer bites don't itch as much though.
Matt how about AU 6-1
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about:
ReplyDeleteAHHBE
BOKNW
2M3RS
?
Matt, it took me a few seconds to figure all of those out. An Auburn fan who is trying to figure it out will probably get it (or anyone pretty familiar with Auburn) but I don't think many will catch on in passing by. Just my 3.75 cents
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. It's really hard coming up with these things. Everything good is taken!!
ReplyDeleteday st. pats happy..
ReplyDeleteDL
and a classic...
ReplyDeletePadraic Flaherty came home drunk every evening toward ten. Now, the Missus was never too happy about it, either.
So one night she hides in the cemetery and figures to scare the beejeezus out of him.
As poor Pat wanders by, up from behind a tombstone she jumps in a red devil costume screaming, "Padraic Sean Flaherty, sure and ya' don't give up you're drinkin' and it's to Hell I'll take ye'".
Pat, undaunted, staggered back and demanded, "Who the hell ARE you?".
Too that the Missus replied, "I'm the divil ya' damned old fool". To which Flaherty remarked, "Damned glad to meet you sir, I'm married to yer sister."
Matt,
ReplyDeleteHow about 1AUBR It's available. I know we had a hard time coming up with ours. Good luck!
go gosh no matter how many times i see that video it makes me roll on the floor laughing...
ReplyDeleteAnyone see where we are in the 13th inning in baseball - tied up 6 each
ReplyDeleteHere's one good thing about living in WV. My license plate is WAREAGLE.
ReplyDeleteChrichton. Community. Those two words just look odd together.
ReplyDeleteMonica,
ReplyDeleteWe can't even get that many letters on a regular license plate here! Lucky you.
Auburn wins baseball game in bottom of 13th with score of 7-6. Had bases loaded with one out, batter hit by pitch, run scored. I love baseball!
ReplyDeleteSo, USA is about to get eliminated in the sport they created...damnit
ReplyDeleteCincy who did they beat?
ReplyDeletePuerto Rico-5 USA-3
ReplyDeletebottom of 9th..1 out
Youklis up bases loaded!
Walked in a run 5-4!!
ReplyDelete6-5 USA wins David Wright single drives in 2 runs
ReplyDeleteUSA! USA! USA! USA!
ReplyDeletedamn I really wish I had watched that game, I had every intention of doing so and completely forgot.
ReplyDeletejhag, that was charlesrton southern beaten by Auburn today. I fell asleep until just now, so I have nothing to add.
ReplyDeleteI just realized that I might be able to go to the basketball game, seeing as I'm in Atlanta. and will be done with what I'm doing by 5 eastern time...hmmmm.
hmmm.....
ReplyDeletewhat makes you go hmmm, Michael?
ReplyDeleteI can't find anyone that will agree to go to the game with me at 11:30 pm the night before. This is an outrage.
ReplyDeleteOne more time!
ReplyDeleteEverybooty say, "YEYAH!!!!"
Hope you all find da gold one day...
Till next year Crichton...
Gnite
hmmm
ReplyDeleteBrown and Oku both going to Tennessee was interesting. Coach Gran can really bring in the runningback talent.
ReplyDeleteGood morning and Happy Hump Day, Hotties. Only one more day for me - taking off Friday to play golf and then watch the Tourney.
ReplyDeleteEven though I have Friday off, I don't want to work tomorrow...
"Coach Gran can really bring in the runningback talent."
ReplyDeleteHopefully he left some here before he left. I'm not really sure he was doing a top notch job of that the last couple of years here.
I'm not sure it was Coach Gran who got those guys to Knoxville, I think maybe Coach Benjamins might have had some influence.
A Good Morning to all!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess the party's over.
What party, ehyou?
ReplyDeleteIt seems appropriate that Oku and Brown wound up at the same school.
ReplyDeleteMorning Hotties.
ReplyDeleteStill mulling over the possibilty of coming to Auburn for the Men's NIT game. Looks like I'd be making the trip alone. Is the game on TV?
PF, I couldn't find it anywhere, so I went to Auburn's website and it stated that it's not televised, but can be heard on the Auburn/ISP Sports Network and XM Satellite Radio Channel 199.
ReplyDeleteI thought Chris Low was a Tenn guy. He can't keep from falling over himself with his Bama adoration.
ReplyDeleteAuburn money wasted on new arena.
Auburn jealous of Bama.
ehyou, what a jerk. Who made him the expert? I'm certainly no expert, but I know that there are many reasons why Auburn needed a new basketball collesium. As for his other comment, I'd like to show him Jet's "The Finger."
ReplyDeleteNothing gets under my skin like a Bama fan telling me that I don't like Bama because I'm jealous. Not much gets me riled up, but them's fightin' words!
ReplyDeleteI didn't find what Chris Low wrote to be that bad.
ReplyDeleteHe's not the only one who has questioned the money spent on an arena for a sport that nobody with power has cared about over the years.
As far as the state being covered in crimson, that's not far from the truth. Over the years the state of Alabama has had more Alabama fans than Auburn fans.
I personally wish we would have done something to spruce up JH, just my opinion...not saying the new arena won't be a great addition
ReplyDeleteIf Nell continues to build high-caliber teams like this season's team and the men continue to play like they did the last part of this season, more and more people will start coming to games. Besides that, a new arena will attract recruits.
ReplyDeleteehyou, I agree. My Bama hatred has NOTHING to do with jealousy.
It was an attempt to be funny and play off the green with envy theme of St. Patrick's Day. He had a dig in on 11 other schools in the SEC too.
ReplyDeleteI actually like Chris Low, that's why I read his blog. The jealousy comment just touched a nerve.
ReplyDeleteThe arena was archaic a dozen years ago while I was there. There's never a good time to spend that much money, but it had to be done at some point.
Agreed, Luv
ReplyDeleteI agree that the arena was needed, however unless history stops repeating itself, when we are drawing 3,000 on a good night to watch an average or below basketball team it will look like a lot of money was wasted in a time where money is thin everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThe arena itself won't turn the program around, and despite the good record this year, I'm not sure Lebo is the man to do it either.
slow day on the HABOTN...
ReplyDeleteLuv......the thread killer! :)
ReplyDeleteit is a slow day. maybe the #1 NIT seed playing tonite will boost afternoon attendance.
Not me! It was WarEagleRK!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWill Jay G be live blogging the game?
ReplyDeleteThe coliseum was considered middle of the road when I was there in the late 70's. The turnout seems to have been better then although the team wasn't any more competitive than now. Bama and Tenn were usually sellouts. Weekend turnout will always be much better because of the distance fans have to come.
ReplyDeleteIs it falling apart or just out of style?
he mentioned yesterday he'd be getting his blog on tonite.
ReplyDeleteregardless on how crappy the Coliseum is, history has shown we can fill it up if we're winning. i was there for nearly every game in 98-99 & 99-00. most were sold out. good times.
ReplyDeleteI'll take the blame. I was just stating that Chris Low wasn't really ripping on us as bad as people were making it out to be and that the arena, while needed, won't fix our decades long trend of being good every 5 or so years then falling off the map.
ReplyDeleteheck, Tennessee couldn't put 7 or 8,000 in it's 24,000-seat arena till Bruce Pearl showed up here. just win baby. the arena will fill itself.
ReplyDeleteMaybe for the men's team. But, since the Nell has been there the women have been getting better and better. Nell is an excellent recruiter. I see big things in the future for the women's team.
ReplyDeleteOld thread down.
ReplyDelete
