All We have are the embers

Thanks to everyone for a wildly successful Campfire on Thursday night.

We had 377 participants during the 3+ hour party.

STANDOUTS WHO WENT THE DISTANCE:
Jet, jhag, MonD, dmiller

AS FOR THE BRACKET CHALLENGE: bmac, Sausagebroker, tigerfan44 lead after one day ... nailing 15 of 16. A group of challengers, led by me and jhag, are lurking at 14 of 16.

REMINDER: We'll be inducting new RoF members (and announcing several other promotions) at a ceremony to be held at 2 p.m. CDT. Please stop by and offer congratulations to our newest superstars.

  8. Why would Baton Rouge want Montgomery's superintendent? Has anyone seen the Gump's public schools?

Harrison, you and I are tied for 4th!!! Do I have to mention that so are a BUNCH of other people?

  15. A Great Friday Morning to all!!!!

Awesome campfire last night, lots of fun.

  16. Hey.....what's this "A group of challengers, led by me and jhag..."?

We didn't hold an election yet.

You've got UNC and jhag,...well it appears as a protest against AU not getting in, he abstained from selecting a winner.

  17. I suck at this bracket thing. Although I'm very happy that Cal St- Northridge, didn't totally destroy my bracket as I was thinking might happen through most of that game.

  18. Everyone must be sleeping late from all the tourney and campfire action last night.

  19. OK, I'm not going to win the bracket challenge - but I do win the ditz award this morning. I just read on Auburn's website - Auburn Arrives in New Jersey, Prepares for NCAA Tournament. I clicked on the article to see what their "new jerseys" looked like!

  20. morning. sorry i missed the campfire. plus i think my bracket is covered in red ink. been too busy to look. oh, well.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think I had tried to block out that we have to play in NEW JERSEY!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Campfire last night was extremely fun and while it was a tough hauling my tookus out of bed at 4:45 this morning it was worth it!

  23. I was just happy I was able to keep up with the campfire last night!! As for my bracket? I'm in 63rd place in d.Miller's group. Oh well, at least my final 4 group is still in the hunt!

  24. I never thought 13 out of 16 would have me tied for 17th. You guys are on fiyah. I thought Miss. St. would have a shot; I guess not.
I got a little upset crazy with MSU and VCU. I should've known to not take VCU. ESPN has been saying for the past week that they would surprise everybody...

  25. Good morning.

I don't think anyone's posted this, but the baseball game vs Arkansas has been moved up so as to not conflict with the NIT. Go out early, sit in the sun, and support the Tigers on the diamond.

I'm 100% making my way over this afternoon for the basketball game. Beat Tulsa.

  26. I want to give an early congrats to all the new future members of the ROF, especially Monica :)!

  27. Eddie playing the roll of thunder stealer here? Nice.

  28. Just took a look at the "NCAA Poll" for baseball and we aren't even mentioned. What's a team got to do to get some notice? I've got a great feeling about our new coach and how he's going to make our team a power.

  29. mrtommy- Keep winning.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Winning takes care of a lot of things doesn't it Eddie

    ReplyDelete
  31. I now have false hope of winning the free t-shirt after tying for 4th. I'm sure that correlates with my chances of winning. right???

    ReplyDelete
  32. It does mrtommy. I, like you, am optimistic about the new coach, but after the last couple of years, i'm skiddish on Auburn Baseball. We seem start out hot and then fade into a black hole.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sorry I missed out on the campfire, I was watching the games on TV and Eric Clapton jamming with the Allman Brothers Band on my computer.

I'm off to a 14-2 start so far with Miss State and Cal letting me down.

    ReplyDelete
  34. i still don't know how State won the SEC tourney.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well if he can do here the same thing he did at Col of Charleston we will be well on our way.

    ReplyDelete
  36. tommyd,

Losing 2 out of 3 to FSU and especially Elon is a lot of it. Plus we haven't played a difficult early season schedule. We'll know soon enough about this team.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Morning Hotties - I enjoyed my time in the Campfire with you last night. Sorry I had to leave early but a free dinner at Ruth's Chris was not to be missed. About to jump on the plane to head back home finally. War Eagle.

    ReplyDelete
  38. That would explain a lot of it RK. I just took a look at the schedule. Seems we don't like to play away from home too well either.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Harrison - State won the SEC tourney because the SEC isn't good at basketball this year.

I have been asleep at the wheel!! I have missed 2 campfires and realized that if I don't load the first page new, I might be missing a new thread.

    UGH!!

Michael - How bout that BC situation.

Question - I just saw some actual football news about practicing leading up to A Day. Any one have thoughts about those practices being closed to the public? I thought it would be beneficial.

    ReplyDelete
  42. State isn't very good and the SEC isn't any good. Shouldn't the league have imploded on itself? Like the ACC did in football?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous9:25 AM

    1 more thing.

MD over Memphis!! If MD loses than Memphis all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The league should have melted on itself like the Nazis at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Harrison.

    ReplyDelete
  45. then everybodys' face would look like brendan knox!

    ReplyDelete
  46. AU1 - the BC coaching situation is really complicated. It questions the very fabric of our belief system when it comes to applying ethics used in the rest of the workforce to the ethics used in athletic businesses. What do you think about it?

    ReplyDelete
  47. morning hotties - last official day of spring break for me
I hit 12 of 16 yesterday but all of my sweet 16 are still alive. I'm a dark horse

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think AU1 should use twitter and facebook to answer that question.

    ReplyDelete
  49. i think the correct term is african america horse hornet

    ReplyDelete
  50. you know you're old when you're watching the Today show instead of reruns of Seinfeld or Saved by the Bell

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anonymous9:35 AM

I just enjoy getting Michael all fired up about "the Situation."

    ReplyDelete
  52. michael, you're the reason I'm hornet, for I too am a Michael - but you already had such a following and I didn't want to confuse matters

    ReplyDelete
  53. A Twitter-like following??

    ReplyDelete
  54. Good thing, because there's only room enough for one michael around here! Well, there is also michael4AU who sometimes says things. But there ain't room for another!!!

Harrison, how do you feel about Twitter and facebook?

    ReplyDelete
  55. I would say but I am afraid Jay G. is watching. awww whatver. They are stupid. I will admit to having a my space page at one time. Then i realized i just talk to those people on the phone anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  56. OK I'll continue...and then people that were never my friend wanted to be my "friend", but i didn't want to be friends. So that is awkward and you have all these goofy jerks on you r friend list that makes me look like a goofy jerk

    ReplyDelete
  57. You should follow my twitter account: GibberishFeed. I send out a lot of enlightening stuff. It will rock your world, Harrison. I am your friend.

    ReplyDelete
  58. i am banning twitter out of principal. michael you are my best friend that i have never met, spoke to or will probably never meet. I imagine you look like Scarlet Johanssen but act like John Daly and are rich

    ReplyDelete
  59. he did that on purpose

    ReplyDelete
  60. Harrison, I act like Tommy Wiseau and smell like Al Roker and love like Melanie Griffith and look like Yul Brynner. So your impression of me was pretty close.
