Setting the table

SATURDAY MORNING
Post No. 1,115

Hey everyone. Thanks so much to all the HOTTIES for outstanding individual performances last night. I wasn't able to do much with the blog due to other professional obligations, but you all blogged the heck out of that basketball game.

Scottie B. turned in an ace-like performance at the ballpark as well.

I am "off" today, though, so I'll be available to blog today's SEC semifinal. In fact, we could live-chat it if we choose because the SEC's regulations don't apply to me now. I'm not at the arena and, therefore, not beholden to their rules.

Your Auburn Tigers play the Volunteers from University of Tennessee beginning around 2:15 p.m. CDT.

Be there or be rectangular.

  2. Nice work, Hornet!

Again: Glad to have you back.

    ReplyDelete
  3. and props to you Jay G for taking call ins last night -- we preppies are appreciative

  4. Reading the major sports media outlets, I think Auburn has a good chance at making the tourney if they can win the SEC, cure cancer and defeat al-qaeda.

    ReplyDelete
  5. au has to be getting some serious consideration for the tourney at this point. the early, out of conference, losses to teams i didn't know existed hurt, but they were a long time ago.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Auburn showed again that they are playing the best ball in the SEC right now.

  7. WAR EAGLE!! Morning Hotties..

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hey Jay. New to blog, but have followed it for awhile and have been a fan since your former contributions to WNSP. I am gonna try to be on during the game.

  9. Jay G...

I see a lot of new names... at least to me...

Your fame is expanding by leaps and bounds.... just the other day at the UN my ambassador overheard a HOTTIES conversation..

Seriously... well done... and bring on Tenn....

  10. I really loved Auburn's victory yesterday. This team just seems to continue to improve ever since the lynching of Lebo was cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  11. looks like the west regional will be in the phoenix area. may try to get over there for a game or two.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jay, I don't want to take away from the basketball talk, but when things slow down again, could you possibly do some more of the Pro Day capsules? I have really enjoyed them. Also enjoyed the S Marks diary. Great stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Dear Jeff Lebo,
I am sorry for everything I said about you in January. XOXO

    -Will

    ReplyDelete
  14. Lebo is actually making a public appearance to 'sell' his team on ESPN Gameday this morning.
Did Tuscaloosa freeze over last night?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Any explanation why the SEC semis are blacked out for me here in Auburn???

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lebo is on my TV right now selling our case. I'm sold, I think we should be in the tourney.

    ReplyDelete
  17. look on ch 12 or 9 Matt if you have Charter.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am missing football. I need football. Basketball is okay, but I need the manly sport.

I do think the Lebo story is a good example of a coach building a program. It is also an example of fans being overly critical of the head guy.

Men's basketball at Auburn had a lot of tough breaks since Lebo came to Auburn, but I think he has proven he has the ability. I like that he coached for Dean Smith. I am not going to kiss him on the mouth anytime soon, but I like how we stuck with him and are seeing the rewards.

  19. It's raycom..espn2 blacked out for me too..

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sweeeeet Will I owe you. You just saved my whole day!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Scottie B,
Great job with the baseball coverage last night! Thank you very much!
Are you going to anymore games this weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Matt, I think a regional broadcast(Raycom) has rights over ESPN2. I feel your pain, it sucks to watch this pitiful production when the rest of the country can watch in HD on ESPN2.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks Jay. I'll spare everyone the "first time caller/love the show" protocol.

Just curious but what was the reasoning behind you going to the women's tourney and not the mens? Not trying to sound sexist or anything but I was looking forward to some photos and thoughts on the men's games.

    sidenote:

Did Alabama "free the hops" this week?

    ReplyDelete
  24. True, but at the same time, I feel like the Raycom crew knows more about the teams/players than ESPN since they've been doing weekly coverage all season. It isn't a great production, but I gotta love the Endless Fries commercials!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Matt, no idea who is doing the ESPN game, but Brando is almost unbearable for me personally.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 3 years without a league loss is a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I don't really care for the Raycom announcers, it's a lot of fun to make fun of them. It's kind of like a family reunion: I may not always enjoy their presence, but I find their quirks very amusing.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Dang gummit. I can't find the game on anywhere here in SC on Time Warner. Dang it!!! I can seen Big 10 and Pac 10 games. This must have to do with Bernie Madoff or something. It is evil, I tell you, evil.

    ReplyDelete
  29. jhag, thought you were taking the SATs today?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ah, wait a minute. If the game is at 2:30 AST I think I got it. My appologies to Bernie Madoff and the RayCommunists.

    ReplyDelete
  31. These TXT of War Questions are always terrible.

Wow they just said that State has some "pretty good wins" in the SEC against USC, UF, and UK. Whaaa?!?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Steve, I would think you could watch it on ESPN 2. The Miss St-LSU game should be on there now.

    ReplyDelete
  33. this is lebo's 1st year with anything approaching depth. i don't know how it'll end, but it's been a great run.

    ReplyDelete
  34. D mills i was at the school from 7:40 to 1:30 it sucked...so this game isnt on espn or espn 2 today like advertised on TV?

    ReplyDelete
  35. i have damn lacrosse on tv what the heck man?

    ReplyDelete
  36. jhag, I thought ESPN 2 was showing it nationally except in the region. Where are you located?

    ReplyDelete
  37. jhag...it's on the raycom affiliate in the gump.

    ReplyDelete
  38. raycom games got switched from SunSports to CW today in Florida. I don't think you'll get it, JHaG. Probably still won't be on the deuce because some cable networks are carrying it around there.

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's Pi Day!

    I'm pumped!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Pi Day's overrated. Square root day (3/3/09) was this shiz.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm looking forward to 07/08/09
what a party that will be.....

    ReplyDelete
  42. I have the RayCommie game. I think I will choose it over lacrosse, whatever the heck that is, French motocross?

    ReplyDelete
  43. South Florida, I'm at a bar we got unc fsu game, miss state / lsu , osu/msu game so I'm sure AU will be on

    ReplyDelete
  44. My hatred of Charter reached a new level last night when the game went to a freakin' commercial with about 1:30 left and UF shooting FT's. All of the sudden I had Ol' Milty telling me "Come join us at Victoryland, you can be a winna too".

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hagg Do you love me???

    ReplyDelete
  46. French Motorcross. Nice.

I have repect for Lacrosse for a few reasons:

It's the oldest American sport ( originated from a Native American game)

Jim Brown was the best that ever played the game. If it was good enough for a football hero, it's good enough for me.

Brutally hitting an oppenent with a stick is pretty cool.

    ReplyDelete
  47. 3/3/09 was for squares.

    Pi day is circular.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Nova - How can you deny your Sheldonocity???

Hag - you can get the game here
AUBURN vs TN on Justin TV

    ReplyDelete
  49. Mon, I'm much better looking and not near as obnoxious.

    ReplyDelete
  50. jhag ... isn't your butt sore from the SATs?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Besides, Sheldon doesn't have a beard.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Jay G, I don't think it's legal to ask a minor that kind of question...

Speaking of minors. I got carded today buying a lottery ticket. I've been able to buy lottery for over a decade. WTF?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't think Sheldon is obnoxious! I think he's quirky. You celebrate Pi Day. Give it up.

    ReplyDelete
  54. War Eagle guys and gals!

Almost game time. I think whoever wins our game will beat the winner of the game on now like a red headed step child!

Here's to the last Raycom SEC game EVER!! Happy happy day!

    ReplyDelete
  55. PF, you obviously don't have any one to bake you a pie for Pi day.

That's what the makes the day for even us right-brainers.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I need a nap, but I'm a sucky nap taker. In a quandary.

    ReplyDelete
  57. If I hadn't celebrated you'd have been disappointed. Can't have that.

BTW, I HATE UT almost as much as I HATE Bama!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I would like LSU to finish this one out. I don't want State to steal a spot from us.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Just passed a pickup on the interstate somewhere north of Tampa that had " OU IS GATOR BAIT" written in fresh shoe polish on its rear window....way to stay relevant, gaytor fans... I took a pic. will try and upload it later.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Can our speed compensate for our lack of size against TN?

    ReplyDelete
  61. I was looking forward to beating the corndogs again tomrrow too!

Surely State would have to win the whole sha-bang to steal the 3rd SEC spot.

    ReplyDelete
  62. It did last time Mon.

I'm a little concerned that a couple of extra hours rest for UT might be the difference.

    ReplyDelete
  63. That rest thing could surely slow us down.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This LSU team has no heart whatsoever. When they got down 6-7 points they started hanging the shoulders and went in the tank.

    ReplyDelete
  65. MS put a whoopin down. Wow. LSU make it past the first round in the NCAAs? I say no.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Brando and Joe Dean Jr. are gone for-eva hopefully!!!! I'm smiling so big as they give their goodbyes!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. might make our path to sec champ a bit easier. can't believe lsu tanked so badly.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I love monica and my butt is awfully sore indeed

    ReplyDelete
  69. Brando is like a cockroach. I think he could survive to broadcast a nuclear bomb.

    ReplyDelete
  70. How cute was that kid in that players ear!!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Is Joe Dean the one on our left?

    ReplyDelete
  72. WAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR
    EAGLE, HEY!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm ready to go, but it looks like the broadcast won't start for a bit. I'll just wait.

    ReplyDelete
  74. They just said that MSU was the third team in the ranks of SEC teams that may go to the NCAA tourney "ahead of SCAR and UF"

    WTF?!?!?!?!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Will do you do a dance routine while you're singing Eye of the Tiger?

    ReplyDelete
  76. Tom Hammond scares me.

    ReplyDelete
  77. He looks like he's enjoyed one million too many cocktails in his time.

    ReplyDelete
  78. If I am this nervous before the game even begins, I can't imagine how I am going to be during the game!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Pace yourself, Cincy! We need you through the whole game.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I've seen him several times in person (only a few feet away mind you) and he really gives me the creeps. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but eek!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Oh, I'm here for the duration. And now that the baseball and softball games have been delayed due to weather, I don't have to try and keep up with them at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  82. a joyous pi day to nova. may all your theorems come true.

    ReplyDelete
  83. EWWWWWWWW that's a lot of ernge on the floor!!
