So what will we do today?

Hey everyone. It's another warm, overcast day in lower Alabama. I'm good with that. I wonder what it's like in Tampa?

LSU has just defeated Kentucky in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals. That rush of wind you hear are the UK fans exiting the St. Pete Times Forum for the last time this year. If you thought the stands were desolate before, just wait.

AUBURN HOOPS: The Tigers (21-10) play Florida tonight at approximately 8:30 CDT. Auburn is in dire need of at least a modest run here to enhance its resume. I don't think the team has yet to accomplish enough to earn an NCAA bid.

I'll be here as often as I can during the game. We'll start a new thread.

(FYI: The tournament is being broadcast on Dish Network in HD on channel 443.)

AUBURN BASEBALL: The Tigers (11-4) open SEC play this weekend at Tennessee. We're hoping that Scottie B., a Knoxville resident, will be on hand to provide the real story from the Volunteer State.

Auburn enters the series with the second-most home runs in the nation with 33. Two of the Tigers, sophomore outfielder Trent Mummey (aka "Mums") and junior infielder Joseph Sanders, rank among the nation’s top home run hitters. Mums has eight; Sanders has seven.

Tonight's game starts at 6 p.m.

the weather is really ugly right now. we're expecting light rain and first pitch temps in the 40's. i don't have access to the HABOTN on my phone but i'll try to recap what i see assuming there is a game tonite.

JayG. The game tonight might not start on time. Maybe it'll start late enough to live blog it.

scott from T, BRILLIANT! i can do Twitter! i guess you'd actually have to sign up to follow me or something. not sure how that works.

i just sent a test twitter. only got 3 followers. we'll see how that works out.

I think I just subscribed, Scottie.

SCottie, what is your Twitter ID?

Harrison, the anti-technology stuff is getting tiresome. We get it. You don't like facebook and twitter. Saying it 5,000 times doesn't make it more true.

Peeps who don't have Twitter, I can post Scottie's information here. No problem.

3:41 PM
Blogger Scott M. Brannan said...

Harrison, i only Twitter because i care.

actually, i've never really used it myself. i only had it set up to get JG's updates. i'm trying to take a crash course. i can log in from my phone and update no problem. just hoping it comes through.

Michael,

From last thread, did you see the interview. Why Jim Cramer goes on The Daily Show after all of the trash Jon Stewart's talked about him, I don't know. Stewart was as well prepared to destroy him as I've ever seen anyone be, ever. I watched the whole interview online yesterday. It was amazing, and really brought to light a lot of things about the financial media that I had no idea about. I will never watch CNBC again. EVER.

Jon Stewart should be world ruler. Seriously.

Jay -- does the Advertiser just pick up the AP story covering the Auburn game?? How does that work?

6:38 PM

That's what they did for the LSU game.

6:46 PM
Blogger Jay G. Tate said...

No trip for me. I was told that the Advertiser doesn't have enough coin to fund that trip.

I am the only full-time Auburn writer not at the tournament. Tim Gayle is the only full-time Alabama writer not at the tournament.

We'll run an AP story in the newspaper tomorrow.

I used to (at least partially) fund some trips myself, but those days are over. My furlough week already "displaced" a chunk of money from the Tate bank account.

That's lame...biggest Auburn basketball game in years, and they can't afford to send a reporter.

I wonder if they'll run the AP story when we're in the final 4.. =)

7:10 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

If Auburn becomed the ultimate Cinderella and makes the Final 4 and the MA doesn't send Jay G, Every Hottie must send $2 to a pay pal account we set up to send him. I think there's enough of us where we could keep the costs low. I'm very much against paying for the internet, but that would be different. It would be for Jay G!

For those of you (like me) who can't get the game on TV, it's available free on Yahoo Sports.

I'd love to really HATAGATA but I'll lucky to last through the first half. What genius schedules games in the middle of the night?

Have you hated Bama today?
