Auburn def. Tulsa, 74-55

Hey everyone. Welcome to Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, where your Auburn Tigers are playing the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

  • FINAL
    Auburn 74, Tulsa 55. Next game: Tuesday night @ 6 p.m. vs. Baylor/Va. Tech.

  • FOURTH TO @ 3:56, 2nd
Auburn leads, 59-49. It's getting tight. Tulsa hit a few threes, an easy lay-up and Auburn isn't accomplishing anything on offense. This is what happens.

  • THIRD TO @ 7:06, 2nd
Auburn leads, 56-40. Same basic deal. I'll say this -- the officiating here is off. They're calling touch fouls one minute, allowing muggings to go unpunished moments later. It's hurting/helping both teams equally. Still, it's unseemly.

  • SECOND TO @ 11:28, 2nd
Auburn leads, 51-33. Still no Barber. Still no major issues for Auburn -- mainly because Tulsa is a small team as well. Auburn is playing on another level defensively tonight. So many deflections. They'll finish with 12-15 steals.

  • FIRST TO @ 15:32, 2nd
Auburn leads, 45-29. The Tigers have been awesome in transition. Barber has four fouls already. There's your storylines.

  • INTERESTING HALFTIME NUMBERS
    **Barber played three minutes
    **Tulsa shot 30%, Auburn 32%
**Jordan has 2 points and 5 rebounds

  • HALFTIME
    Auburn 33, Tulsa 22.

  • FOURTH TO @ 3:54, 1st
Auburn leads, 26-16. Both teams were sloppy during that last stretch. Auburn is falling in love with the three-point shot now ... and has missed three in a row. I haven't seen the Tigers look this active on defense in a while. They're getting hands on a lot of passes and disrupting flow.

  • THIRD TO @ 7:50, 1st
Auburn leads, 21-14. The Tigers seem locked in to me. They're playing with a lot of purpose, particularly on defense. Knox is contributing with Barber on the bench. Auburn is trying to push the tempo, which surprises me a little bit. I guess they like their depth better than Tulsa's.

  • SECOND TO @ 11:11, 1st
Auburn leads, 13-10. With Jordan out with foul trouble, Tulsa seems lost on offense. It's clear what the Tigers are trying to do with him out -- they're working inside and trying to draw fouls near the basket. If Jordan's reserves get in foul trouble, what then?

  • FIRST TO @14:24, 1st
Tulsa leads, 8-5. Very physical game. Barber has two fouls already. Knox, his backup, has one. I've heard that Johnnie Lett is available if need be. Tulsa's big guy, Jordan, has one foul.

  • YOUR AUBURN STARTERS
PG -- Speed Reed, Not Shoot Reed
SG -- Tez Robertson, amorously tied to Sherell Hobbs
SF -- Tay Waller, shot maker
"PF" -- Rasheem Barrett, wearing long sleeves
    C -- Korvotney Barber, player

  • Auburn in orange, Tulsa in royal blue.

Thanks, jay, I'll be following but I have to leave the computer sometime to actually clean the house or work in the yard or one of those awful things you have to do on Sat!!

The officials are move frustrating to me in Football than in bball. There seems to be more game changing mistakes on the grass than on the court to me.

The only thing I don't understand is how the midwest region is playing in Miami Fl, that doesn't make much sense to me.

It sux that we haven't got to see the guys on tv during this tourney. You would think a #1 seed would warrant a little love. Nothing against the college wrestling on espn tonite, but cmon!

Hopefully the women like the early tip offs better than the football team liked the early kickoffs.

Thats not the high thigh thats the boys.

Just in from the game. Officiating was awful on both sides. For the firt 7-8 minutes, one ref blew every foul. Me and my friends rode one ref until we at least got him to blow his whistle to start an inbound play withright at 8 minutes left in the 1st. they were the worst I have seen in a while.

10:11 PM
Blogger wtc said...

Besides the refs, it was astrange game. We tried to milk the clock too early and let the cut it to 10.We looked gassed though. Hopefully I can make it tuesday. Gotta work sometime and the 6:oo start may not let get there in time.

Good thing we don't have that Douglas kid for FL St. We don't need him. he is not good.

I had Wake in my final Four, WVU in my Elite 8, and Ilinois in my sweet 16... I'm done.

11:13 PM
Blogger Wakeriderof87 said...

wtc, yeah he has done nothing for FSU in this game.

11:14 PM
Blogger cincytiger said...

I should have gone with my emotions - I originally picked against FSU because of Douglas. Then I changed thinking I shouldn't pick against a team just because I don't like a player.

11:16 PM
Blogger cincytiger said...

Dang it! Wis wins

11:17 PM
Blogger Wakeriderof87 said...

Well I royally screwed the southwest bracket, the good news is from here on out I can pull for who I want to win, my bracket doesn't matter anymore.

a moment of Auburn baseball, time with my brother witnessing an Auburn basketball victory, meeting Jay G and getting a HABOTN tshirt (finally, I know I'm late), and capping it off by watching some tourney action at Momma G's. Good times on the Plains. How I miss it! Back to Sunny Florida tomorrow.

WTC, that was me talking to Jay G when you came by at halftime.

Who was the bald dude about 8 rows up in Section 10 with the HABOTN shirt on?

1:40 AM
Blogger wtc said...

Wake, I was just kidding about the Douglas kid. He is a pretty good
player.
Peter, sorry i could not talk. Glad you could make the game.
We looked tired with about 7 minutes to go. At least we get some down time before the next one.
I think spring practice starts on Tuesday doesn't it?

I was the guy in sec. 10 with the HABOTN shirt. Great game by the Tigers, lousy game by the officials. I was impressed to see them play well with Vot not getting to play much. I didn't realize how quick Franki Sullivan is. Plan to be there Tues. I'll try to stop by.
