Hey everyone. Welcome to Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, where your Auburn Tigers are playing the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
- FINAL
Auburn 74, Tulsa 55. Next game: Tuesday night @ 6 p.m. vs. Baylor/Va. Tech.
- FOURTH TO @ 3:56, 2nd
Auburn leads, 59-49. It's getting tight. Tulsa hit a few threes, an easy lay-up and Auburn isn't accomplishing anything on offense. This is what happens.
- THIRD TO @ 7:06, 2nd
Auburn leads, 56-40. Same basic deal. I'll say this -- the officiating here is off. They're calling touch fouls one minute, allowing muggings to go unpunished moments later. It's hurting/helping both teams equally. Still, it's unseemly.
- SECOND TO @ 11:28, 2nd
Auburn leads, 51-33. Still no Barber. Still no major issues for Auburn -- mainly because Tulsa is a small team as well. Auburn is playing on another level defensively tonight. So many deflections. They'll finish with 12-15 steals.
- FIRST TO @ 15:32, 2nd
Auburn leads, 45-29. The Tigers have been awesome in transition. Barber has four fouls already. There's your storylines.
- INTERESTING HALFTIME NUMBERS
**Barber played three minutes
**Tulsa shot 30%, Auburn 32%
**Jordan has 2 points and 5 rebounds
- HALFTIME
Auburn 33, Tulsa 22.
- FOURTH TO @ 3:54, 1st
Auburn leads, 26-16. Both teams were sloppy during that last stretch. Auburn is falling in love with the three-point shot now ... and has missed three in a row. I haven't seen the Tigers look this active on defense in a while. They're getting hands on a lot of passes and disrupting flow.
- THIRD TO @ 7:50, 1st
Auburn leads, 21-14. The Tigers seem locked in to me. They're playing with a lot of purpose, particularly on defense. Knox is contributing with Barber on the bench. Auburn is trying to push the tempo, which surprises me a little bit. I guess they like their depth better than Tulsa's.
- SECOND TO @ 11:11, 1st
Auburn leads, 13-10. With Jordan out with foul trouble, Tulsa seems lost on offense. It's clear what the Tigers are trying to do with him out -- they're working inside and trying to draw fouls near the basket. If Jordan's reserves get in foul trouble, what then?
- FIRST TO @14:24, 1st
Tulsa leads, 8-5. Very physical game. Barber has two fouls already. Knox, his backup, has one. I've heard that Johnnie Lett is available if need be. Tulsa's big guy, Jordan, has one foul.
- YOUR AUBURN STARTERS
PG -- Speed Reed, Not Shoot Reed
SG -- Tez Robertson, amorously tied to Sherell Hobbs
SF -- Tay Waller, shot maker
"PF" -- Rasheem Barrett, wearing long sleeves
C -- Korvotney Barber, player
- Auburn in orange, Tulsa in royal blue.
gibberish or substance, it's a fine line
ReplyDeleteThe drinks are on ice, the popcorn's popping, looking forward to a great game
ReplyDeletenoooooo ..don't wear ernge at home!!!
ReplyDeletego tigers
ReplyDeletegame time.
ReplyDeleteHere we go Auburn!
ReplyDeleteHere we go!
And Vot draws his first foul, 18:40.
ReplyDeleteRasheem!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSheem is 1-for-1 from three.
ReplyDeleteThis 7-footer isn't as beefy as I expected.
ReplyDeleteVot draws his second foul, 17:01.
ReplyDeletenot 3 minutes in and Rod is in a rage over the officiating. shocker!
ReplyDeleteThe 7-footer, Jordan, draws his first foul, 16:45.
ReplyDeleteREC radio (a.k.a WNSP 105.5) is actually broadcasting the game in Mobile!???
ReplyDeleteI guess as long as there is no important USA baseball game to preempt...
Understatement alert!
ReplyDeleteTwo fouls on Vot is a not a good thing.
Louisville only up by 2 at the half on Morehead St. History may be in the making.
ReplyDeleteVot's got 2 fouls already??
ReplyDeleteNot good, not good at all.
5-5, 16:40
ReplyDeleteBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteKnox draws his first foul, 16:10.
ReplyDeleteLots of booing.
boo. hiss.
ReplyDeleteOK, Jay G ... those of us stuck on Rod Radio need some help regarding officiating.
ReplyDeleteRefs suck already.
ReplyDeleteSitting two seats behind Jay G, and it doesn't look like he brought my t-shirt.
Iffy shot selection by both teams.
ReplyDeleteI've got it in front of my computer, Peter!
ReplyDeleteI stand corrected.
ReplyDeleteActive, angry crowd tonight.
ReplyDeleteYou can hear the booing on the radio and the annoucers are bedise themselfs on some of these calls
ReplyDeleteFor those interested, audio link to game here.
ReplyDeleteJordan "draws" his second foul, 13:49. Awful call.
ReplyDeleteHow many people would you say are there?
ReplyDelete5,000
ReplyDeleteThat's way more than I expected.
ReplyDeleteTulsa's backup center, Mitchell, now has two fouls.
ReplyDeleteYou sensing a theme here?
I really wish the new arena would be ready next year.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if you offer them a bonus to hurry up ...
ReplyDeleteI guess these refs are bitter that they suck and their conferences didn't grade them into the big dance.
ReplyDeleteThen after they finish, put a 90% tax on the bonus. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteOr maybe they're just bitter that they're conference USA refs.
ReplyDeleteCan Auburn win a 40 minute free throw shooting contest?
ReplyDeleteTwo handed jam....yes!
ReplyDeleteAnother Tulsa forwards has drawn his second foul.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know what conference the refs are from?
ReplyDeleteJay it sounds like a good crowd is it?
ReplyDeleteC-USA Andrew I guess?
ReplyDeleteI completely forgot about your parents being Tulsa fans, Jay G. Do they care anything about Tulsa basketball?
ReplyDeleteAuburn up 13-10, 11:11
ReplyDeleteMy parents are far more into football.
ReplyDeleteYeah..they commented earlier about them being from C-USA. I guess I'd try to make a name for myself to if I called games in that garbage league.
ReplyDeleteJordan and Barber still on the bench ...
ReplyDelete7:25 p.m.
ReplyDeleteFriday, March 20, 2009
Rod Bramblett acknowledges a call against Auburn was correct.
I thought it needed to be noted.
Lett is in the game. First action since ... early February, I think.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the SAME thing Jet. Well said.
ReplyDeleteLett on the floor
ReplyDeleteI fully believe that Bill Raftery has turrets syndrome. He just randomly yells and makes weird sounds while trying to broadcast a game.
ReplyDeleteJet,
ReplyDeleteAre you sure Bramblet did that? I'm not sure I believe you.
RK ...
ReplyDeleteI love me some Raft.
Onions!
Auburn opens up MAN TO MAN!
Frankie Sullivan ... WITH THE KISS!
Neither team hitting very well.
ReplyDeleteNobody can ruin a good basketball game than Raftery. I couldn't agree more.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of "Turret's Syndrome."
ReplyDeleteRK ...
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like him, but perhaps a signed affidavit from Joe Ciampi would seal it for us.
The USC song girls make WAKA's choice of game make a whole lot of sense!!!
ReplyDeleteThe random tone changes in his voice drive me nuts.
ReplyDeletemy bad...back to the NIT..
ReplyDeleteI love Raft. I think Bilas is great. I think Vitale should be put down, so to speak.
ReplyDelete9/12 Free throws?
ReplyDeleteLooks like free throw shooting will be a big factor in this game.
I always feel like when Raftery is calling a game that the volume levels on my TV are messed up.
ReplyDelete"The Official Hot Dogs of Auburn Athletics."
ReplyDeleteJust seems rather silly to me.
Someone there was grumbling during the Dayton/WVU game. Was that Raftery?
ReplyDeleteTheir backup center now has three fouls. They still won't play Jordan. Tulsa is going smal.
ReplyDeleteSpeed!
ReplyDeleteSpeed 2!
ReplyDeleteJordan back in, 5:52.
ReplyDeleteRaftery is in Dayton, OH, so it wasn't him since the Dayton game was in Minneapolis.
ReplyDeleteSpeed Reed just missed on a three by at least two feet.
ReplyDeleteFwiw, I think Enberg and Bilas are the best announcer pair for the first rounds..
ReplyDeleteKnox picks up his second foul.
ReplyDeleteHopefully we won't let Tulsa back in like we did UT Martin...
ReplyDeleteAuburn up, 26-16. 3:54 to go.
ReplyDeleteSully 3
ReplyDeleteKnox picked up his third foul.
ReplyDeleteLett now in.
Sullivan's stock just keeps rising
ReplyDeleteSullivan is playing well, no doubt.
ReplyDeleteSpeed Reed just bricked a pair of FTs. Is there a streakier player in America?
ReplyDeleteHe's equally capable of 20 points or 2.
ReplyDeleteReed is capable of hitting a slicing reverse layup with a hand in his face and another defender pulling him down as well as shooting an airball that lands in the 1st row.
ReplyDeleteFla 74 Miami 60 Final Fla moves on in the NIT
ReplyDeletefla. beat miami. arizona "upsetting" utah.
ReplyDeleteauburn up--makes for a good day.
what's the entertainment for halftime? flaming puppets on a stick?
Go Tigers! Did I hear a crowd #?
ReplyDeleteHalftime entertainment at a game should always be the Zooperstars
ReplyDeleteWhat? "Auburn falling in love with the 3"? I'd never guess that would happen.
ReplyDeleteRandom piece of trivia. The annoying Coke Zero commercials where they are trying to sue Coke Zero, those guys are actual Coke employees, not actors.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see we're beating Tulsa.
Following in of course
ReplyDeletePeter Frakenschmidt stopped by to say hello. Nice to see you!
ReplyDeleteThere is a dude here in section 10 wearing a HABOTN shirt. No idea who that is.
ReplyDeletedamn utes. you try to show them some love for their performance in the sugar bowl and they are about to further screw up my bracket. there is still hope...
ReplyDeleteI we can hang on it should be a great game Tuesday in Auburn, regardless of who we play.
ReplyDeleteI'm texting updates to my AU student brother-in-law in Panama City Beach. Does that make me part of the media?
ReplyDeleteI anticipate AU to be the only team not on TV for the rest of the tournament.
ReplyDeleteBarber picks up No. 3 ... on offense.
ReplyDeleteJay, you gong to the Garden if Auburn goes?
ReplyDeleteYes Arizona. Yes.
ReplyDeleteAbout the bus: I stole it from a blind chick.
ReplyDeleteGarden: Not sure.
Auburn now up 43-27.
ReplyDelete45-27.
ReplyDeleteBarber picks up No. 4.
ReplyDeleteI know I am in the minority, but I like Rod . .
ReplyDeleteRod is going to slap CJC if he doesn't stop agreeing with the refs.
ReplyDeleteThe mediator flexes his "delete with no record" muscle.
ReplyDeleteGood to know Cincy
ReplyDeleteThat was some serious stuffination by Tez right there.
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily like the way he calls the game, I just like how excited he gets :)
ReplyDeleteBarber on the bench will hurt Auburn
ReplyDeleteJGT updates are a good 2 min ahead of radio broadcast.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Barber on the bench is going to hurt that much. Tulsa is not big ... aside from Jordan.
ReplyDeleteBeing down 16 at this point means the perimeter is going to be Tulsa's battleground.
what's the crowd like?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a link to video?
ReplyDeleteAuburn ISP Network can be heard online at mms://WM1.alaweb.com/WAAO
(You'll have to cut and paste this to your browser)
ehyou ... am I spoiling things?
ReplyDeleteI can delay if need be.
Jay G, you just lost 3 games my friend =(
ReplyDelete5,000 fans ... pretty rowdy.
ReplyDeleteJhag, I blame you.
ReplyDeleteNot at all JGT, you carry on.
ReplyDeleteAnd just like that I moved to 2nd..BOOM
ReplyDelete47-29, Tulsa calls for a TO.
ReplyDeleteI take perverse pleasure in knowing play before my fellow radio listeners.
ReplyDeleteKeep it rolling Auburn!
ReplyDeleteSite is behaving very strangely for me tonight.
ReplyDeleteanybody see the body slam of the oklahoma player by the morgan state player?
ReplyDeletew00t w00t Xavier!
ReplyDelete51-33.
ReplyDeletesweet!
ReplyDeleteSullivan with a lovely reverse lay-in.
ReplyDeleteDid I hear someone in the crowd scream, "That's why you're in the NIT!" ????
ReplyDeleteouzo is a great name, not a great drink (imo)
ReplyDeleteThat is a loud crowd at only 5000. You can really hear them.
ReplyDeleteehyou, I wasn't having any problems until you mentioned that you were. Now it's taking forever to refresh...thanks a lot ;-)
ReplyDeletemy love for utah has officially dissolved
ReplyDeletethe universe is balanced again
I actually picked Dayton to win but also Utah
ReplyDeletethanks for the crowd update....I should have been there but now I am going to be there Tues nite!!
ReplyDeleteRented Fight Club to watch after game, never seen it.
ReplyDeleteIf you reload the page sometimes that will help the delay.
ReplyDeleteaz is better than their record. they may have 3 nba ready players.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a Blogger problem.
ReplyDeleteI was having some slow pageloads earlier. I'm back to speed now.
In a fit of genius, I picked West Virginia to go to Final Four!!!!
ReplyDeleteTulsa is completely lost right now. It has no idea what to do.
ReplyDeleteBizzare JGT, announcers just said exact same thing.
ReplyDeleteI find the seeding for the NIT rather silly
ReplyDeleteI could have saved you from that fit of genius, ehyou. You can count on WVU to choke in the tourney.
ReplyDeleteNever pick West Virginia. Just ask Mon.
ReplyDeleteI really miss Jim Fyffe.
ReplyDeleteThis No. 53 fella for Tulsa, Ray Reese, looks like Kid Quick ... from those of you who used to play Punch Out.
ReplyDeletei've got lsu in my final 4. idiot or genius?
ReplyDeletei followed the "go with the first thought you have" strategy with my bracket since i only care about AU bb.
ReplyDeletei remember hesitating on ut v az...stupid stupid stupid!
LOL Nova - funny boy
ReplyDeletewwooohooo...I am up to #2 in the Habotn bracket!! I'll enjoy it while it lasts! Since I have Clemson in my sweet 16.
ReplyDelete... for those of you ...
ReplyDeleteehyou,
ReplyDeletei didn't pick them to go to final four, but to win first two rounds - should know Huggins would let me down! Go Xavier!
i used to knock kid quick stupid
ReplyDeleteScott I say not to wise...they couldnt beat Miss State or Auburn and their gonna have to beat UnC, Gonzaga, Syracuse or Oklahoma...but it could happen, who knows?
ReplyDeleteMaybe genius.
Monica,
ReplyDeleteHow do they like Huggins in WVA? We loved to hate him when he was at Cincy.
54-38, 8:00 to go
ReplyDeletejhag, i'm thinking impulsive idiot, myself. 10 bucks, though.
ReplyDeleteput the hammer down tigers!!!
ReplyDeleteNice and-one for Speed Reed.
ReplyDeleteCincy - congrats on the recognition earlier today.
ReplyDeleteI'm tied with 30 others in the Goldmine bracket....anybody else participate?
ReplyDeleteI've already gushed enough over Monica.
ReplyDeletethanks, ehyou, this is so fun
ReplyDeleteMan this is going to be low scoring game.
ReplyDeleteWhile I think Charles is an alright guy, I am on strike against AL.COM.
ReplyDeletecincy, what is chili like there? i hear there are wierd ingrdients in cincy chili.
ReplyDeleteCincy - They love Huggins. He was born in Morganhole, went to and played for WVU..so he's a 100% homer and they think he's great.
ReplyDeleteWhose next for Auburn?
ReplyDeletemorganhole?
ReplyDeleteehyou - there's no such thing as too much. Now that I know I was your first, you'll have a special notch in my laptop.
ReplyDeleteAuburn next: Baylor or Va Tech.
ReplyDeleteYes, Morganhole.
ReplyDeleteSo who/when do we play in the 3rd round (knock on wood)?
ReplyDeleteScott,
ReplyDeleteCincinnati chili is something everyone should try - once. I don't really care for it. It has chocolate and cinnamon in it. You can get it 3 way, 4 way, 5 way depending on if you get beans, cheese, onions, etc. They serve it over spaghetti. I'm glad to be back in the south where they eat real chili :)
Evidently Willie Martinez firmly entrenched @ UGA. That's good news for opposing offenses.
ReplyDeletebaylor women are good. don't know about their men's bball team.
ReplyDeleteI like Ciampi as color man. He does know the game.
ReplyDeleteYay for getting back to the Plains tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteBocce ball on Samford lawn!
Auburn up 59-47 with 5:00 to go.
ReplyDeleteMonica,
ReplyDeleteGlad they like him. I must say the Crosstown Shootout between Univ of Cincinnati and Xavier was great fun when he was there. I think it has lost some of its luster with Huggins gone.
Auburn's next game would be Tuesday, I believe.
ReplyDelete59-49
ReplyDeletecincy: that's what i thought. i'd try it, although i don't get the spaghetti--that's what god made crackers for.
ReplyDeleteGetting too close
ReplyDeleteis tubs feeding lebo strategy on how to hold a lead?
ReplyDeletechip chip said...
ReplyDeletemy love for utah has officially dissolved
Yeah! They have messed up my bracket! :(
Officiating is bad in college basketball everywhere, no just in this game.
ReplyDeleteIt seems more and more that refs are getting caught up in the crowd or who has momentum in the game and calls go in one direction depending on the games momentum.
Defensive breakdown...not what we need to hear.
ReplyDeletethey have nice mountains though
ReplyDeleteWillie Martinez will be Mark Richt's downfall. Mark my word. Georgia fans can't stand him and if Florida continues to win big and Georgia doesn't the next couple of year and Richt continues to not make changes to his staff, then Richt's days will be numbered. The chatter is already starting as silly as that sounds.
ReplyDeleteBarrett makes it an 11-point lead ... then an OR ... and a Waller three.
ReplyDelete14 points.
65-49.
ReplyDeleteAnother Utah victim here. I had them in the sweet sixteen.
ReplyDeleteofficiating is the reason i'm not big on bball.
ReplyDeletea guy standing still with his hands in the air can get a foul called on him when the shooter plows into him at 90 mph.
my other fav is when the defender fouls the rebounder's elbow with his face and requires stitches.
This appears to be in hand. I'm gonna go start Fight Club. Later Hotties!!!
ReplyDelete
