All we have are the embers

Hey everyone. We held a fruitful, enthralling, one-hour campfire on Wednesday night.

We discussed Ben Tate, Tommy Trott's rating, Chris Todd, the Cornelia Marie, most exciting Auburn games and where Tommy Tuberville will coach in 2010.

We had a total of 153 total participants during the hour. That is not a great number, but I failed to publicize the event ahead of time.

CAMPFIRE BULLETIN:
We will be convening Thursday night at 9 p.m. CDT.

PROGRAMMING NOTE: We will resume live blogging at 8:30 a.m. Thursday with Rogers Redding, the SEC's coordinator of officials.

  4. JZ ...

I'm all for another Summit at the King, but WTC has to participate. Would love for any of our Female Hotties to join us.

I'll coordinate with WTC on a date that works for him, then post. We could take over the place.

  5. What is the King and where can I find him?

  6. Jet, all you need is 10 people to commandeer that joint.

  7. Jay G ...

Fact is, I could do it myself.

Sean ... "The King" is "The Hamburger King" -- the Gump's finest eatery specializing in bovine meat fried on a griddle.

Its creations are made with love by Pat, served by Gay and accompanied with tasty condiments and fresh vegetables, and tucked gingerly into an old fashioned hamburger bun the way the Almighty showed the Israelites in Deuteronomy. Look it up.

If you want ciabatta bread or a turkey burger, or avocado, then you might want to go somewhere else.

  14. T-minus 44 days til kickoff!!!

Now that we're getting into the "skill position" numbers, the choices are getting harder to make...but not today.

Honorable mention to Alvin "the Blur" Bresler, Secdrick McIntyre, Heath Evans and Chester Willis, amongst many others.

    Today's honoree: a dentist

As a sophomore, Lloyd Nix was moved from left HB to QB, where he promptly led the team to an undefeated national championship season in 1957. He also QB'd the undefeated 1958 team, and was 9-0 as a pitcher on the 1958 championship baseball team. Dr. Nix received the 1959 Cliff Hare Award as Auburn's outstanding senior athlete. In 1995 he received the Walter Gilbert Award, and in 2008 the Auburn University Lifetime Achievement Award.

    HAPPY LLOYD NIX DAY!!!

    WARRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!

  15. good morning hotties.

My 'Work' has forced me to switch to MS Windows on my job puter. I'm really frustrated. I can sign into my msn live account from my linux laptop. Same laptop, same firewall, ms windows, I can't. The irony of it is killing me.... and I could suffocate that SOB paperclip.

    I need a hug.

  17. Good morning all!!! I'm finally back to work in the ATL and have a chance to relax and get to more important business, HABOTN posting!

Football has unofficially arrived and i'm excited to have it back. Today's Media Day lineup should be entertaining, but I really wish Jay or somebody would go interview all the bammers and get their take. That would make for some good entertainment.

THT- Big Ups to all the research you put into coming up with player countdown. I very much enjoy it!

  18. Sensi and Eddie, just took a listen to your Gridiron Breakdown show. THANKS for putting that out there. Fun show fellas!

  19. With the beginning of SEC Media Days we now have substance. Sorry I missed the campfire will take 10 noodle lashes and try harder to make it tonight.

  20. Aero- feel the love, Aero. And Keep Hate Alive, for Norm's sake.

Thanks, Eddie. I'm just a happy little googler.

    ReplyDelete

Is it on ESPNU again today?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Good morning, Hotties!

Let's hear some good news today. Thanks for the countdown, THT, you've put a lot of work into it and made the days pass more quickly! I always try to guess the night before who you are going to choose.

Anyone have a good treatment for chiggers?!! They are itching me to death!

    ReplyDelete
  33. no you weren't! I found it now. Boy am I slow when I haven't had a DC!

    SEC Media Days

    ReplyDelete
  34. Luv - I prefer prophylaxis...stay indoors!

MrsTHT once had over 60 chigger bites after an afternoon tour at Okefenokee.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Coach Chizik is listed as 1st up tomorrow morning, follwed by Spurrier, Miles, and last and least, Kiffin.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hey THT,

Cincy, not Luv! At least MrsTHT got hers from doing something fun - mine came from yard work. That condo in Auburn is sounding better and better.

John Longshore is waiting with bated breath for Saban to come on the air.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous8:07 AM

    He sounds genuinely giddy.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks THT!!

Just thinkin out loud a little I thought prophylaxis was used for the pregnancy thing.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Longshore is already on his knees in anticipation.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think Longshore's media guide pages are already sticking together, especially around the Saban profile page.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ah....chiggers. Finally something I'm an expert on. There's a product called Chigg Away and one called Chig-a-Rid that work okay. Benadryl ointment helps a little, but a bath drawn as hot as you can stand it followed by a long soak is usually most effective.

Oh...and tequila, lots and lots of tequila.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous8:15 AM

Indeed, Eddie. Sabear is on the air. Barry probably went to get a lemonade refill.

    ReplyDelete
  44. oops, my apology cincy. I'll let you and Luv decide who was complimented and who was insulted by my faux pas. I've got a DC in hand now. Hopefully I'll be better. MrsTHT gets ticks from yard work, not chiggers.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I consider us both complimented. :)

  47. So that whole thing with putting nailpolish on chigger bites is bogus?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Do those of you in B'ham with Direct TV get ESPNU?

    ReplyDelete
  49. What up gang...it sounds like there's a flood warning for the state of Alabama...all this simultaneous drooling is just too much for the drainage.

    ReplyDelete
  50. tommy,

I haven't tried that. I've been using RhuliGel and it works for about 10 minutes. I haven't had chiggers since I was a kid. I had forgotten about the nail polish trick. thanks

Scottie B - I take it the evening went well?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anonymous8:23 AM

I am supposed to get ESPNU before the fall. So says the Comcast hacks.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Suggestion Cincy - don't use the bright red polish. People will point.

    ReplyDelete
  54. when I put in the channel for ESPNU on Directv it says unavailable. just wondering if I am going to have to pay extra for it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. i consiedr me frustrated with work interfering with HABOTN and Tour de France time trial.

    ReplyDelete
  56. take the day off, THT. You deserve it. Aren't we being told we don't have to work for the things we need - big brother will provide?

    ReplyDelete
  57. AU1, it was great. i fell asleep in the 8th inning of the Braves-Giants game on the couch. Braves win 4-2!

    ReplyDelete
  58. That's a huge win for the Braves. Lincecum is a hard guy to hit, let alone beat. It's amazing he still K'd 9. Jair was definitely at his best yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yesterday at media days was a snooze fest, but at least it got us talking about football.

-Also, the announcement yesterday about the first 3 games being at night. All day tailgating, nice.

-I think today and tommorow will be good days at the SEC blitz.

-The team should be gearing up, its so freaking close. I am excited. Booking hotel rooms today for the first three games.

-Jay,if you see Kevin Scarbinsky, ask to borrow his Black Panther colgne.
