- "I'm going last today. That's where we're picked every year."
- "I don't see us slipping on the defensive side of the ball even though we lost some defensive players."
- "I don't think there's a better corner in the nation returning than Trevard Lindley."
- "The SEC continues to be the toughest division in the toughest league in the country." (That's a stretch in my mind.)
- All-SEC quarterback vote: "How could I not vote for Tim Tebow? We couldn't stop him the last two seasons. I'm not the guy. Good luck in your search."
- On Tim Tebow: "He's about as good a leader as you could expect at the quarterback position. He has the skills. How can that not translate into a guy who plays in the NFL? Some people like to pick holes in everyone."
- On recruiting in South Carolina: "We'll go anywhere we can to find good football players. Hopefully, our exposure for the past three years has increased our visibility and accessibility. We'd like to build on that relationship."
- On UK showing patience with him: "There's no question the patience level, in society and college football, is at a low. There's not much patience in society today. Every situation is different. The good news is we have improved the talent level that the untrained eye could see that we had improved. Look how dramatically it did turn in 2006. Somebody had the intelligence and guts to weather the storm. Now we need to climb the ladder. We need to win the SEC championship."
- Brooks is being asked about specific players. I'm not going to get into that. I seriously doubt you care.
- On his early-season schedule (UK opens SEC play with Florida and Alabama): We were dealt a tough hand. At least we have them at home. Some of our better games the past couple years have been in Commonwealth Stadium. At that stage of the season, hopefully, we'll be a healthy football team."
- On Twitter: "I'm an old-school guy who has kinda taken a liking to it. My kids can track where I am. It's worse than having a cellphone on you."
THAT'S A WRAP. Next up is ... another team tomorrow morning.
I think Twitter is supremely overrated.
ReplyDeleteYou?
Not a fan.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait til some fan Tweets play call ideas to a coach during a game.
ReplyDeleteI went to Dan's twitter page, and I sat there thinking...why do I need to know all this?
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, it is overrated. Just like Ole Miss.
ReplyDeleteI'd Tweet more if I saw a reason to do so.
ReplyDeleteYou could tell us about breakfast, which traffic light you're at...the status of your DVR...I mean all those things are priorities for the HABOTN, right?
ReplyDeleteWhat's the difference between a tweet and a facebook status update?
ReplyDeleteThere are dozens of hacks around me Tweeting over and over and over.
ReplyDeleteI just don't see how that's useful to people on the receiving end. Even if you're an MSU fan, do you need to know every single thing Mullen discussed?
It's essentially the same thing FSJ. For some reason, people are just addicted to Twitter. Jay, thank you for not tweeting useless info.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the fact that the HABOTN doesn't blow up my phone with constant non-event updates.
ReplyDeleteThe guys I follow from Spill are bad about that.
Here we go.
ReplyDeleteI almost had to purge one facebook friend recently for spamming my news feed with crap...
ReplyDeleteThankfully I figured out how to hide her stuff.
FSJ, I do a lot of Facebook hiding.
ReplyDeleteDid Brooks say "I'mmmmmm Baaaaaackkkkk!" again?
ReplyDeleteSEC East the toughest division?
ReplyDeletePfffttt.
The most top heavy maybe.
I'm telling u...it was Spurrier.
ReplyDeleteFSJ - I agree
ReplyDelete(Just tidying up, Sensi.)
ReplyDeleteFrom the last page, Thanks Mon. Is there a masked man in the SEC that didn't vote for Tebow? Must be Spurrier.
ReplyDeleteSounds just like something Spurrier would do to pick a fight with Meyer.
ReplyDeleteHe's already the one that started the Meyer to Notre Dame stuff up again on Finebaum.
Dan Mullen's Tweet:
ReplyDelete3:03> I'm heading to the bathroom.
3:04> When I tinkle I imagine myself as cupid, and I'm tinkling arrows of love. It makes tinkling more fun.
3:07> done tinkling.. now shaking it.. once, twice.
3:08> Washing hands.
I was typing not reading didn't see yours FSJ
ReplyDeleteI think it could be Kiffin since he has constantly taken shots at Florida.
ReplyDeleteRich Brooks is one resilient dude. Last year at Media Days, he was the odds on favorite to be hiring UHaul.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how long he'll hang around before handing the reigns to Joker Phillips?
Does every coach have to answer 1-2 questions about Tebow? If I were up there, I think I'd decline and want to talk about my team.
ReplyDeleteI'm overserved on Tebow.
Aero so that's what tweeyer is for. Dang I am missing out ....not
ReplyDeleteHell I can't even spell it
ReplyDeleteI suggest that SEC should be renamed Tebow conference.. and we all know that a day is incomplete without Tebow.
ReplyDeleteSo the event JGT is covering should be called Tebow media Tebow. Or lets just call it Tebow Tebow Tebow.
I think the Tebow question keeps coming up because they want to know who didn't vote for him, otherwise it wouldn't be coming up nearly as much.
ReplyDeleteOdds on Kentucky ever making the SEC CG?
ReplyDelete1 out of 1000
ReplyDeleteIn basketball?
ReplyDeleteIf Miss State can make it...Kentucky can make it.
ReplyDeleteIs it basketball season already in Kentucky?
ReplyDeleteGood point, Sean.
ReplyDeleteFootball, FSJ?
I just don't see Florida, Tennessee, & Georgia being bad enough....at the same time to allow UK to make it.
ReplyDeleteThat seems like it would have to be close to a 4 way tie and somehow UK came out on top or had one more win.
ReplyDeleteI know Sensi..
ReplyDeletei was joking.
No way UK makes it unless Meyer decides he wants to be near distilleries.
Aeronaut: Great "Tweet" from Mullen.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if anyone in the UK program follows The Pillsbury Throwboy's career in the NFL?
ReplyDeleteLast I read he was backing up Peyton Manning at Indy.
I, for one, would like to know if they've decided on a QB at UK.
ReplyDeleteDo you mean "The Hefty Lefty" or "J-Load"?
ReplyDeleteSensi: It's Hartline.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jay G.
ReplyDeleteNice hanging with you all once again.
'Til tomorrow...
Dan Mullen is headed over to Sportsouth in case anyone was wondering.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Kentucky can pull a Vandy and go 6-0 and shock Saban and Meyers into Twitterland
ReplyDeleteTweet: Steve gets up from short nap.
ReplyDeleteTweet: Steve tweeted about short nap.
ReplyDeleteSo here's the deal.
ReplyDeleteI think we should hold a campfire tonight. If you're busy, that's fine.
Maybe 9ish CDT?
I have much less use for twitter than I do for FB. And I have no use for FB.
ReplyDeleteI think I forgot how to campfire
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more that Twitter is overrated.
ReplyDeleteLet's campfire!
ReplyDeleteAddendum: Twitter is overrated unless you're in the throws of revolution.
ReplyDeleteThe Birmingham New = one paper who may actually survive.
ReplyDeleteI have the marshmellows
ReplyDeletedid Lache tell LSU Scout he was visiting AU anytime soon? did Lache tell LSU Scout when he would decide?
ReplyDeleteCheap minds want to know. I don't need a detailed transcript of that expensive information, but perhaps just a teeny tiny bit more than yes/no.
Campfire...YES!
ReplyDeleteGood questions THT!
ReplyDeleteor is it marshmallow
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try and make the campfire if we indeed have one. I've been waaayy too negligent on the HABOTN lately.
ReplyDeletethe only tweets worth a crap are from the HABOTN. darn tootin'!
ReplyDeletetoday is the wife and scottie b's anniversary. headed out to supper in a bit. if all goes well i'll see you hotties tomorrow. if the night crashes & burns i'm down for a campfire. in that case i may bring a case of Yuengling with me.
ReplyDeleteCongrats and enjoy Scottie!!
ReplyDeleteand no, i'm not joking.
ReplyDeleteHartline should be a solid (as can be) QB for UK. i'm rooting for the CATS to have a good season....until AU rocks them anwyays.
thanks AU1.
ReplyDeleteman, i'm lonely. this sucks.
ReplyDeleteok JGT, here's a question, i heard Brock Huard on Knoxville radio earlier (he currently guest stars on ESPN's College Football show that is airs daily now). apparently he is a part of the new ESPN agreement. he said he will be in town for the AU-LA Tech game. any idea/clue what time that will be yet?
Huard isn't bad on ESPN. i dvr it daily. he played at Washington and is a Pac-10 guy but seemed really excited to be in the SEC market.
Nickname update. I have a new one.
ReplyDeleteKodi "Crash and" Burns
bout time you showed up, shesaid!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anny, Scottie
I play like infinity more to visit Auburn Undercover than I do visiting HABOTN. Just went to Undercover for Media Days Coverage. Jay 4, Undercover 0.
ReplyDeleteCorrection, Jay 5, Undercover 0. Also, someone asked about the time of our first game. It is 6 ADT, that is Auburn Daylight Time.
ReplyDeleteSteve - for the record I'm out of the FarmTown business. I totally don't get it and it doesn't trip my trigger at all.
ReplyDeleteOn the U right?
ReplyDeleteI said self? What trips Mon's trigger?
ReplyDeleteYou do, AU1. ;-)
ReplyDelete1. Twitter = 2003 Auburn Tigers
ReplyDelete2. Campfire? Oh, yeah!
3. FarmTown, Mafia Wars, Metropolis = Don't crank my tractor
That put a smile on the face.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't get those either.
It's time for some Chilton Co. peaches. I gave bosslady some today and it made her dance.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy.....ok I will be back l8r for the heat!
ReplyDeleteMAlleNAllet showed up at Arky 265 whaaaaaaaaaaat!
ReplyDeleteFarm Town is great. You get to make your own farm and make it bigger and bigger. You get plants and animals. It is purely non-violent and full of love.
ReplyDeleteI'm so on board for a campfire
ReplyDeleteCampfire?!...I'm in..:)..
ReplyDeleteFor those who missed it, an encore presentation of Episode 2 of Auburn Football Insider Podcast will air tonight at 8 p.m. CDT for your listening pleasure.
ReplyDeleteJust before the grand campfire.
Enjoy!
Onions=good
ReplyDeleteBell pepper=very, very disgusting
JGT=very good coverage
Campfire=too late
Terry Beasley!
ReplyDeleteNova = Sheldon
ReplyDeleteWhar's Da Farr?!! I know it's early but I'm on Mass time.
ReplyDeleteI would like to continue my protest of the media conspiracy of not having a Chris Todd profile. Equal rights for Todd I say, our starting QB!!!
ReplyDeleteSteve-BLAH!! KODI! KODI! KODI!
ReplyDeleteKodi going down. Caudle will be the number 2 guy. Rollison will be the starter next season.
ReplyDeleteActually, possibly by the end of this season.
ReplyDeleteSteve-are these opinions or inside info?
ReplyDeleteWho wants to talk about recruiting?
ReplyDeletewhere is chip-chip?
ReplyDeleteKODI! KODI!
ReplyDeleteMassive opinions.
ReplyDeleteSaid with all due respect SteveO
Wu Tan I will
ReplyDeleteAre we going to get any of these guys or will the joke be on us?
I think AU gets the following:
ReplyDeleteSeastrunk
Dyer
Reed
Dixon
Hurd
in a package deal. Also gets Godwin (WR) from GA.
AU-i think we get them. That is one of the reasons we will not get Grant.
ReplyDeleteThat would be huge. What about Owens?
ReplyDeleteWhere did Vogler go today?
ReplyDeleteAlso we get Owens at LB. Howard was recruited to play CB.
ReplyDeletevogler went to UAT.
ReplyDeleteThey said he would due to the fact that Ok had signed a kid recently.
ReplyDeleteI just didn't see it yet, until now. Does Grant go to UAT or UF?
There will be more attrition from up there soon. I think the loading of talent will slow greatly when recruits see others leaving due to no playing time. It will surely be used against them. I will say that is a good problem to have so I am not knocking it, but that is a price you pay
ReplyDeleteAgreed - The story of "you can start right away" is over.
ReplyDeleteWe could use it I guess now.
He goes to UAT. I was in AU today and heard several rumors, but all indicate he is going to UAT.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we become the new Linebacker U.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that Jahara White made some comment about the linebackers and included ones that did not commit yet.
Is it too much to ask for drive thru employees not to have heavy foreign accents?
ReplyDeleteNot knocking Grant but I am not sure why he makes that decision. It is really more a perception thing for Saban to get him out of AU's backyard. AU wants him. A chess match occurred when Howard goes to UAT camp and gets no offer but is told it is 99% there. He goes to Au and gets an offer and takes it. Grant is then played by saying aU thinks higher of Howard than Grant.
ReplyDelete(Just a rumor)
Good rumor though.
ReplyDeleteJet - No it is not. I become increasingly frustrated trying to order something and not understanding or having them understand. This coming from someone whose grandparents didn't speak much english.
Why is that a package deal, WTC? What does package deal mean exactly?
ReplyDeleteIf Grant knows where he's going why is he waiting until tomorrow?
Standing by for clear answers.
ReplyDeleteJet - Did your people come over on the Mayflower?
ReplyDeletePackage deal as in they have all talked and want to play together.
ReplyDeleteThey had already planned the presser and he made his decision after the Howard kid committed.
Thank you WTC for you clear answers.
ReplyDeleteWhy did SciFi become Syfy?
ReplyDeleteBut I do not follow recruiting very much. I have several friends in AU that are ate up with it and when I go over they like to bring me up to date.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome Mon.
ReplyDeleteAre we campfiring tonight?
Just finishing listening to the podcast from Eddie's show. Interesting show.
ReplyDeleteMon - Expand the viewership....they don't want to be the propeller head channel anymore.
ReplyDeleteYou and I? Sure think, handsome!
ReplyDeletething, too
ReplyDeleteYes, it is on.
ReplyDeleteHow does changing from Scifi to Syfy accomplish that? I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteThey did, Monica. And the spoke the same langauge the same way as their fellow passengers.
ReplyDeleteI am all for the young lady working, but if she can't communicate with the speaker system, no one benefits. It sets her up to fail. It frustrates the customer, and hurts the business.
I have absolutely no inside info and have just aquired the innate ability to talk with my sphincter.
ReplyDeleteTodzilla is coming. Fear Todzilla.
