Jay I really appreciate that last part of the clip when we get to see the completed pass. I always wondered if the QBs were throwing to moving targets or stationary ones.
I wished they had just announced the QB decision after a practice or before and let the coaches answer questions. I hope the media won't be all over Burns, but it seem inevitable. It is the story.
Why is he still on the field? Why would CGC and CGM put thier future at risk? I do not see CGC or CGM wasting time getting a senior up to speed to be the back up?
Kodi is our starter. He is working at WR so that he and Fannin, Blake, Aycock, Stallworth, etc can swap positions and run the wildcat without having to change personel. Hey, stranger things have happened. That way we could swap offensive formations from the no huddle and keep the defense from being able to bring in run stoppers between plays. If Kodi learns a few routes, he can become a legitimate threat at WR in the Wildcat.
Experience is worth a lot at QB, which is why Todd is the man and our best option at QB. I will be very surprised if they don't announce a depth chart soon like the following.
I agree about trying to start Kodi too soon. Seems like a waste, but at this point I just want the season to start so we know for sure what this team is about.
As for any of you hotties that may be in your late teens and early twenties that consider yourself grown, talk to me in about 15 years if you feel the same way then.
Sometimes change is liberating and invigorating. I don't know what kind of WR Kodi will be, but I hope he becomes a productive one ... not because we need him to be one at AU, but because he deserves a break.
And if he decides that it's not for him, then I hope he finds a place to play QB and does well
Steve, I would have to second the statement about 15 years from now. At 18 I knew two things - Jack and S*** and Jack had just left town (as the old saying goes).
If Kodi does make the move to WR, he has to be one of the most unselfish guys to come through AU in a long time. Making that move shows he puts the team ahead of himself and is willing to do what's best for the guys out there, as well as himself. If he makes the move to WR, everyone of us in the stands needs to be on our feet giving him a standing o the first time he runs out onto that field. We could learn a lot from this guy. He has been through alot, including being booed by his own fans at one point, yet he's still willing to put the team first. he has got my respect.
Kodi deserves his scholarship. He was our only viable option last season once Todd's arm went bye bye and he kept us in a lot of games when we could have easily been blown out.
I'm obviously in the minority here with my CT hating. Having said that... if CT starts every game this year, I see no more than five wins. I just don't see the upside with CT.
I trust Malzhan and his decision on QB. He has seen them more than we have. I am sure he will teach Todd not to hold on to the ball forever. I have big problem with sacks.
Just curious but what kind of relationship did Kodi have with Malzahn in his high school days? I hope for the best for the young man but was mildly curious if he was flat out getting the news from a trusted source as opposed to being strung along like last year.
Yeah Steve, this offense will run a lot of plays unlike last year so I pray that his shoulder holds up. I do think that he is a mature player/leader but as always with AU there always seems to be that big IF.
I guess I'm a little taken aback at the temperature of some regarding the announcement.
I'm concerned about Chris Todd's arm, but I'm concerned about Neil Caudle's injuries, inexperience and interceptions. I was concerned that Kodi Burns will never get the hang of the game.
See the field, kids. The two weeks was to see 2 things: a) can Todd throw the ball well enough to be competitive? b) Can Tyrik play at this level now?
Apparently the answer to "a" is yes. I believe the answer to "b" is yes as well, but that remains to be seen.
I'm guessing Kodi is in an orange jersey because he got the news right before practice.
I've always thought highly of him as a person, based on how he's carried himself in interviews. Nothing but respect from me no matter what he ends up doing.
1. Vets play only 2 series because they had the starter pegged. 2. Rollison and Moseley play more so coaches can determine if Rollison can handle the leadership role for a sustained amount of time.
I don't understand the surprise over Kodi. It was pretty clear as early as late last season. The reason last season really went into the toilet was not having a backup for Todd and us having to simplify the offense to such a degree we were extremely predictable. The handwriting has been on the wall for a long time. It as if some of you missed all that went on the second half of last season.
The tough part of knowing the starter this year was Neil Caudle. I hadn't seen enough of him to really know if he could be the guy. Why I thought Todd would beat out Caudle is purely because of Borges' and Franklin's opinion of Caudle.
As for Tyrik, my guess is that if Todd hadn't healed, Tyrik would have been a serious threat, but it is still likely that Caudle would have ended up being the man this year.
Monica ... every bit of info that has passed my way says Tyrik can play, and will play.
The who comes off the bench first is the interesting question ... I think the answer is "depends," and that doesn't mean Gus has wet his pants. If you think the situation lets you play Tyrik, let 'er rip. If not, then Caudle.
WTC ... you are dead on regarding the scrimmage, IMO.
Depressed-I think he is if we get about 3-4 games into he season. My gut feel is he gets playing time on every game a home at some time. I do not think it will be a 'pull Todd if he screws up thing'. I think Todd id the man until he proves he is not the man. I just hope the fans do not trash him if he throws am INT or something. Now, if he starts to float the ball out there. I think Guss yanks him quickly.
Look down the road a bit to see what the coaches are doing. I know it is way early but AU already has 3 top QB's very interested for the next recruiting class (not the one that signs this Feb)It just leads you to think Tyrik is going to play early so you do not have this problem going forward.
First?
ReplyDeleteYou never forget your first time!
ReplyDeleteAlso first.
ReplyDeleteSame poster, forgot I was logged on to blogger under a different identity elswhere.
Want me to delete your earlier posts?
ReplyDeleteBurns didn't look unhappy out there.
ReplyDeleteBurns definitely wasn't sulking out there.
ReplyDeleteI have an unconfirmed report that Burns, once told that he wasn't in the mix at QB, asked to get a chance at wideout.
AFTER he was told no dice at QB ...
What if it is all a ploy to screw with the media?
ReplyDeleteJust sayin'
Maybe a "surprise attack" is starting to form.
ReplyDeleteI am the Walrus.
ReplyDeleteGoo-goo-ga-joob.
Tough day for the young man. Reality can be cruel.
ReplyDeleteBut that unconfirmed report would throw that idea out the window.
ReplyDeleteJay I really appreciate that last part of the clip when we get to see the completed pass. I always wondered if the QBs were throwing to moving targets or stationary ones.
ReplyDeleteI wished they had just announced the QB decision after a practice or before and let the coaches answer questions. I hope the media won't be all over Burns, but it seem inevitable. It is the story.
ReplyDeleteLOL Freep..
ReplyDeleteNaah, I'm still the same guy. I stand by everything he, err, I said.
ReplyDeleteI am the eggman.
ReplyDeleteMr. Rollison, while I understand that it is with no pressure, looks very smooth out there.
ReplyDeleteJGT does he always look that smooth and comfortable?
Burns is comfortable and confident most of the time, no doubt.
ReplyDeleteSo.. question...
ReplyDeleteIf CT is not THE QB...
Why is he still on the field? Why would CGC and CGM put thier future at risk? I do not see CGC or CGM wasting time getting a senior up to speed to be the back up?
Steve...
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing saying they didn't have extensive talks about this with Burns.
Borges, Franklin, and then Malzahn in the spring made it clear Kodi wasn't the guy. Ray Charles could have seen this one coming.
ReplyDeleteJGT - How about Tyrik? He looks smooth.
ReplyDeleteehyou, I know they had talks with Burns. It is the talking with the media I am concerned with. Hopefully Kodi will not be available for comment.
ReplyDeleteformer CTF got some vindication today
ReplyDeleteMichael Vick signed with the Eagles.
ReplyDeleteHow about this scenario???
ReplyDeleteKodi is our starter.
AuburnUnderCover is reporting that Todd has "apparently" been told that he is the man.
ReplyDeleteTo the person who has been looking for Wisner: There he is in the video.
ReplyDeleteExperience is worth a lot at QB, which is why Todd is the man and our best option at QB. I will be very surprised if they don't announce a depth chart soon like the following.
ReplyDelete1) Todd
2) Caudle
3) Rollison
Rollison will likely move up later.
Burns is a grown dude. He is a football player. I don't see it as a big deal.
ReplyDeleteWade, I am shocked. Undercover is reporting Todd being the man? Someone should have warned us about Todzilla a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteThe kid wanted to play QB @ Auburn, he lived through last year, he's finally been told it ain't happening and that's not a big deal?
ReplyDeleteBurns is a kid, just like the rest of the kids on this team. He isn't a grown dude.
ReplyDeleteUgh.
ReplyDeletethe Jerk, I'm just passing along the info.
ReplyDelete2 yr deal for Vick.
ReplyDeleteBottom line is Todd Gets it...
ReplyDeleteI still think they should red shirt TY if Caudle is a strong enough backup.
I think AU messed burns up by playing him too soon...
I want 4 years of a good QB..
I agree, Burns needs aa few days before facing the mob... I mean media.
ReplyDeletejaywall - Your idea makes sense.
ReplyDeleteehyou, I have a video for you.
ReplyDeleteFolks, here is your video theme for the evening. Please turn up your volume as much as you can and just soak it all up.
Yet another reason to hate Philly.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine have a QB who actually kept the D honest?
ReplyDeleteThat would be hard to imagine Monica!
ReplyDeleteNoVa - Agreed. You watching the Skins vs. Ravens?
ReplyDeleteKodi Burns has spoken with reporters more than anyone else on the roster. He'd have no problem talking about this with us ...
ReplyDeleteI agree about trying to start Kodi too soon. Seems like a waste, but at this point I just want the season to start so we know for sure what this team is about.
ReplyDeleteKristina in the Hizzle!
ReplyDeleteKodi must love his major at Auburn or something...way to be a team player though.
ReplyDeletePlease take it easy on him Jay. These are kids.
ReplyDeleteAs for any of you hotties that may be in your late teens and early twenties that consider yourself grown, talk to me in about 15 years if you feel the same way then.
Coach says play LB, you play LB. Coach says play TE, that's what you do. Why's QB any different?
ReplyDeleteSometimes change is liberating and invigorating. I don't know what kind of WR Kodi will be, but I hope he becomes a productive one ... not because we need him to be one at AU, but because he deserves a break.
ReplyDeleteAnd if he decides that it's not for him, then I hope he finds a place to play QB and does well
ehyou if you believe that I can't explain it to you. Maybe someone else can.
ReplyDeleteSteve, I would have to second the statement about 15 years from now. At 18 I knew two things - Jack and S*** and Jack had just left town (as the old saying goes).
ReplyDeletePreach on brother Jet. Kodi is a good Auburn man and I hope for the best for him.
ReplyDeleteWhy is KB still wearing the orange jersey?
ReplyDeleteI knew it all when I was eighteen. It wasn't until I was in my mid 30s that I realized how dumb I truly was.
ReplyDeleteEhyou ...
ReplyDeleteTE is like driving a truck.
QB is like being President. The QB is the face of the team. The presumed leader.
That's why it's different.
I asked that too, Snow. LOL
ReplyDeleteIf Kodi does make the move to WR, he has to be one of the most unselfish guys to come through AU in a long time. Making that move shows he puts the team ahead of himself and is willing to do what's best for the guys out there, as well as himself. He has been through alot, including being booed by his own fans at one point, yet he's still willing to put the team first. he has got my respect.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jay, let Kodi know that all the hotties are hoping for the best for him. His contributions to Auburn are appreciated.
ReplyDeletesnow...
ReplyDeleteIt's because Auburn is going to orange jerseys this year....He's testing them out.
maybe it just means he wants to keep his scholly @ Auburn?
ReplyDeleteThis is all a ploy.
ReplyDeleteKodi is the starter.
They are searching for his backup.
This is all to throw off the media and get Auburn some attention.
Or maybe I've just been reading too many conspiracy theories lately.
Kodi deserves his scholarship. He was our only viable option last season once Todd's arm went bye bye and he kept us in a lot of games when we could have easily been blown out.
ReplyDeleteMaybe they didn't want to tell him about the position change by having a blue jersey in his locker.
ReplyDeleteDo not start that orange jersey crap again.
ReplyDeleteA ploy would be nice...
ReplyDeleteMaybe QB's only have orange practice jerseys, so that's all Burns had.
ReplyDeleteKristina ...
ReplyDeleteNow that's what I'm talkin' 'bout.
Is this officially now knows as
ReplyDelete"Kodigate?"
I still like Brent's reference to black helicopters.
ReplyDeleteYou keep the ploy. I'll have a margarita.
ReplyDeleteI will be stunned if Kodi stays if he gets no shot at being the QB.
ReplyDeleteThen again I attended last years Vandy game and the 2007 Miss State game, so I used to be stunned lately.
Believe it or not, Franklin knew how to evaluate QBs.
ReplyDeleteFear Todzilla!!!
knows = known
ReplyDeleteI have no problem with Todd but he didn't throw much this summer. His shoulder better hold up, that's all I'm sayin.
ReplyDeleteBigEz, Todd's arm holding up is my biggest concern. Franklin's offense just didn't emphasize the long ball. Malzahn's does.
ReplyDeleteFear Todzilla!!!
Hey hey EZ
ReplyDeleteI would love to be an ice vendor in Auburn after this news. Todd uses a lot of it.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather be the truck driver than the president - lots more fun.
ReplyDeleteJust give Todd the nerf treatment that Cox got in the fall that one year, it'll all work out fine.
ReplyDeleteAU1, I'm sort of watching the game. It's mostly the new guys now so it's not really very interesting.
ReplyDeleteIf CT is named the starter, who will be the first to interview Franklin? Josh Moon or Fbomb?
ReplyDeleteI'm obviously in the minority here with my CT hating. Having said that... if CT starts every game this year, I see no more than five wins. I just don't see the upside with CT.
ReplyDeleteHopefully he will prove me wrong.
Now I must go inhale and imbibe...
LOL BigCat
ReplyDeleteEhyou...no you wouldn't lol
ReplyDeleteI trust Malzhan and his decision on QB. He has seen them more than we have. I am sure he will teach Todd not to hold on to the ball forever. I have big problem with sacks.
ReplyDeleteActually, I see Todd being asked to manage a game and not lose it. Throwing short over the middle but once in a while sending one down field.
ReplyDeleteKodi won't transfer. This is where he belongs. Neil will be the starter...
ReplyDeleteJust curious but what kind of relationship did Kodi have with Malzahn in his high school days? I hope for the best for the young man but was mildly curious if he was flat out getting the news from a trusted source as opposed to being strung along like last year.
ReplyDeleteLike Warren G said, "ain't no love in this game 'cos it's all about the dough."
ReplyDeleteYeah Steve, this offense will run a lot of plays unlike last year so I pray that his shoulder holds up. I do think that he is a mature player/leader but as always with AU there always seems to be that big IF.
ReplyDeleteHey, hey, hey MonDiesel...
ReplyDeleteDo you guys think Kodi gets a shot a running the wildcat or is he to slow.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm a little taken aback at the temperature of some regarding the announcement.
ReplyDeleteI'm concerned about Chris Todd's arm, but I'm concerned about Neil Caudle's injuries, inexperience and interceptions. I was concerned that Kodi Burns will never get the hang of the game.

Apparently the answer to "a" is yes. I believe the answer to "b" is yes as well, but that remains to be seen.
wow. i didn't see this doing down with Kodi. i can't wait to hear him talk about this.
ReplyDeletei'm gone making my kids auburn jerseys for a couple hours and the whole place goes nuts. wow.
Its all a prep for TR. That's it.
ReplyDeleteJay if they announce the starter tonight will you have to trash the article you wrote for tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteWell, hats off to Kodi for not being a whiner and trying to help wherever he can.
ReplyDeleteHe may not have been the answer at QB, but at least he's a class dude.
I'm guessing Kodi is in an orange jersey because he got the news right before practice.
ReplyDeleteI've always thought highly of him as a person, based on how he's carried himself in interviews. Nothing but respect from me no matter what he ends up doing.
Jet-How did the move go today. A little warm wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteScottieB, you were actually making your kids AU jerseys. That is impressive.
ReplyDeleteChris Todd named starter.
ReplyDeleteJet - What leads you to answer YES to Tyrik?
ReplyDeleteTony Franklin press conference in 3...2...1...
ReplyDeleteStart praying for that arm to hold-up.
ReplyDeleteThis is a new and funny side of you I'm seeing, BigCat. LOL
ReplyDeleteLast night I commented:
ReplyDelete1. Vets play only 2 series because they had the starter pegged.
2. Rollison and Moseley play more so coaches can determine if Rollison can handle the leadership role for a sustained amount of time.
I still feel this is correct.
Who is #2?
ReplyDeleteJGT, you kiddin' us? nah, it's gotta be legit. only confirmed sources here.
ReplyDeleteWDE CT.
That's a wrap on QB race 2009. Thank you all for watching.
ReplyDeleteHave your pets spayed or neutered.

ReplyDeletewtc- do you think Rollison is first off the bench if Todd struggles or goes down with an injury?
ReplyDeleteWas Bo Jackson there?
ReplyDeleteThanks Mon!! I'm just layered like that :)

ReplyDelete"I'm obviously in the minority here with my CT hating. Having said that... if CT starts every game this year, I see no more than five wins."
ReplyDeleteJames,
If Todd's shoulder isn't healed, I can see where you are coming from. However if it is healed, he was a much better decision maker than Burns.
Todd played less and threw 5 TD's, Burns only threw 2 TD's vs 7 Int's.
What changed your mind in the last 30 minues from Caudle to Tyrik, Steve?
ReplyDeleteLook down the road a bit to see what the coaches are doing. I know it is way early but AU already has 3 top QB's very interested for the next recruiting class (not the one that signs this Feb)It just leads you to think Tyrik is going to play early so you do not have this problem going forward.
ReplyDeleteWho did Todd's shoulder surgery? Dr James Andrews, right? Then we should be good to go. He's the best at repairing stuff.
ReplyDeletePlus, Todd said in practice he threw it 55 yards on the run and hit a WR in stride.
However, Uncle Rico could also probably throw a ball over that mountain. so...
Anyway, I look forward to catching up on the comments in the morning, but for now I'm off to bed.
ReplyDeleteEveryone enjoy their Ronnie Brown night as it turns into a new Brent Fullwod day tomorrow.
Uncle Rico can also hit you in the face with a steak from 30 yards away.
ReplyDeleteTina. . eat your ham
ReplyDeleteYour mom goes to college.
ReplyDeleteWDEwg. LMAO on the Uncle Rico reference. Still one of the best scenes from that movie
ReplyDeletelooks like Kodi may be staying
