Burns didn't look unhappy out there.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Burns definitely wasn't sulking out there.

I have an unconfirmed report that Burns, once told that he wasn't in the mix at QB, asked to get a chance at wideout.

AFTER he was told no dice at QB ...

    ReplyDelete

What if it is all a ploy to screw with the media?

    Just sayin'

    ReplyDelete
  7. Maybe a "surprise attack" is starting to form.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I am the Walrus.

    Goo-goo-ga-joob.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Tough day for the young man. Reality can be cruel.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Anonymous8:28 PM

But that unconfirmed report would throw that idea out the window.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Jay I really appreciate that last part of the clip when we get to see the completed pass. I always wondered if the QBs were throwing to moving targets or stationary ones.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I wished they had just announced the QB decision after a practice or before and let the coaches answer questions. I hope the media won't be all over Burns, but it seem inevitable. It is the story.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Naah, I'm still the same guy. I stand by everything he, err, I said.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I am the eggman.

Mr. Rollison, while I understand that it is with no pressure, looks very smooth out there.

JGT does he always look that smooth and comfortable?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Burns is comfortable and confident most of the time, no doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  17. So.. question...

If CT is not THE QB...

Why is he still on the field? Why would CGC and CGM put thier future at risk? I do not see CGC or CGM wasting time getting a senior up to speed to be the back up?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Steve...
There's nothing saying they didn't have extensive talks about this with Burns.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Borges, Franklin, and then Malzahn in the spring made it clear Kodi wasn't the guy. Ray Charles could have seen this one coming.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anonymous8:32 PM

JGT - How about Tyrik? He looks smooth.

    ReplyDelete
  21. ehyou, I know they had talks with Burns. It is the talking with the media I am concerned with. Hopefully Kodi will not be available for comment.

    ReplyDelete
  22. former CTF got some vindication today

Michael Vick signed with the Eagles.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Anonymous8:34 PM

    How about this scenario???

Kodi is our starter. He is working at WR so that he and Fannin, Blake, Aycock, Stallworth, etc can swap positions and run the wildcat without having to change personel. Hey, stranger things have happened. That way we could swap offensive formations from the no huddle and keep the defense from being able to bring in run stoppers between plays. If Kodi learns a few routes, he can become a legitimate threat at WR in the Wildcat.

  25. AuburnUnderCover is reporting that Todd has "apparently" been told that he is the man.

    ReplyDelete
  26. To the person who has been looking for Wisner: There he is in the video.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Experience is worth a lot at QB, which is why Todd is the man and our best option at QB. I will be very surprised if they don't announce a depth chart soon like the following.

    1) Todd
    2) Caudle
    3) Rollison

Rollison will likely move up later.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Burns is a grown dude. He is a football player. I don't see it as a big deal.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wade, I am shocked. Undercover is reporting Todd being the man? Someone should have warned us about Todzilla a long time ago.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The kid wanted to play QB @ Auburn, he lived through last year, he's finally been told it ain't happening and that's not a big deal?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Burns is a kid, just like the rest of the kids on this team. He isn't a grown dude.

    ReplyDelete
  32. the Jerk, I'm just passing along the info.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Anonymous8:39 PM

    2 yr deal for Vick.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Bottom line is Todd Gets it...

I still think they should red shirt TY if Caudle is a strong enough backup.

I think AU messed burns up by playing him too soon...

I want 4 years of a good QB..

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous8:40 PM

I agree, Burns needs aa few days before facing the mob... I mean media.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous8:40 PM

jaywall - Your idea makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  37. ehyou, I have a video for you.

Folks, here is your video theme for the evening. Please turn up your volume as much as you can and just soak it all up.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous8:40 PM

Yet another reason to hate Philly.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Can you imagine have a QB who actually kept the D honest?

    ReplyDelete
  40. That would be hard to imagine Monica!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous8:41 PM

NoVa - Agreed. You watching the Skins vs. Ravens?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Kodi Burns has spoken with reporters more than anyone else on the roster. He'd have no problem talking about this with us ...

    ReplyDelete
  43. I agree about trying to start Kodi too soon. Seems like a waste, but at this point I just want the season to start so we know for sure what this team is about.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous8:44 PM

    Kristina in the Hizzle!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Anonymous8:45 PM

Kodi must love his major at Auburn or something...way to be a team player though.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Please take it easy on him Jay. These are kids.

As for any of you hotties that may be in your late teens and early twenties that consider yourself grown, talk to me in about 15 years if you feel the same way then.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Coach says play LB, you play LB. Coach says play TE, that's what you do. Why's QB any different?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Sometimes change is liberating and invigorating. I don't know what kind of WR Kodi will be, but I hope he becomes a productive one ... not because we need him to be one at AU, but because he deserves a break.

And if he decides that it's not for him, then I hope he finds a place to play QB and does well

    ReplyDelete
  49. ehyou if you believe that I can't explain it to you. Maybe someone else can.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Steve, I would have to second the statement about 15 years from now. At 18 I knew two things - Jack and S*** and Jack had just left town (as the old saying goes).

    ReplyDelete
  51. Preach on brother Jet. Kodi is a good Auburn man and I hope for the best for him.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Why is KB still wearing the orange jersey?

    ReplyDelete
  53. I knew it all when I was eighteen. It wasn't until I was in my mid 30s that I realized how dumb I truly was.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ehyou ...

TE is like driving a truck.

QB is like being President. The QB is the face of the team. The presumed leader.

    That's why it's different.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I asked that too, Snow. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anonymous8:49 PM

If Kodi does make the move to WR, he has to be one of the most unselfish guys to come through AU in a long time. Making that move shows he puts the team ahead of himself and is willing to do what's best for the guys out there, as well as himself. If he makes the move to WR, everyone of us in the stands needs to be on our feet giving him a standing o the first time he runs out onto that field. We could learn a lot from this guy. He has been through alot, including being booed by his own fans at one point, yet he's still willing to put the team first. he has got my respect.

    ReplyDelete
  57. And Jay, let Kodi know that all the hotties are hoping for the best for him. His contributions to Auburn are appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  58. snow...

It's because Auburn is going to orange jerseys this year....He's testing them out.

    ReplyDelete
  59. maybe it just means he wants to keep his scholly @ Auburn?

    ReplyDelete
  60. Anonymous8:50 PM

    This is all a ploy.

    Kodi is the starter.

They are searching for his backup.

This is all to throw off the media and get Auburn some attention.

Or maybe I've just been reading too many conspiracy theories lately.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Kodi deserves his scholarship. He was our only viable option last season once Todd's arm went bye bye and he kept us in a lot of games when we could have easily been blown out.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Maybe they didn't want to tell him about the position change by having a blue jersey in his locker.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Do not start that orange jersey crap again.

    ReplyDelete
  64. A ploy would be nice...

    ReplyDelete
  65. Maybe QB's only have orange practice jerseys, so that's all Burns had.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Kristina ...

Now that's what I'm talkin' 'bout.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anonymous8:53 PM

Is this officially now knows as
    "Kodigate?"

    ReplyDelete
  68. I still like Brent's reference to black helicopters.

    ReplyDelete
  69. You keep the ploy. I'll have a margarita.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I will be stunned if Kodi stays if he gets no shot at being the QB.

Then again I attended last years Vandy game and the 2007 Miss State game, so I used to be stunned lately.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Believe it or not, Franklin knew how to evaluate QBs.

    Fear Todzilla!!!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anonymous8:55 PM

    knows = known

    ReplyDelete
  73. I have no problem with Todd but he didn't throw much this summer. His shoulder better hold up, that's all I'm sayin.

    ReplyDelete
  74. BigEz, Todd's arm holding up is my biggest concern. Franklin's offense just didn't emphasize the long ball. Malzahn's does.

    Fear Todzilla!!!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anonymous8:57 PM

I would love to be an ice vendor in Auburn after this news. Todd uses a lot of it.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'd rather be the truck driver than the president - lots more fun.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Just give Todd the nerf treatment that Cox got in the fall that one year, it'll all work out fine.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Anonymous8:58 PM

AU1, I'm sort of watching the game. It's mostly the new guys now so it's not really very interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  79. If CT is named the starter, who will be the first to interview Franklin? Josh Moon or Fbomb?

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm obviously in the minority here with my CT hating. Having said that... if CT starts every game this year, I see no more than five wins. I just don't see the upside with CT.

Hopefully he will prove me wrong.

Now I must go inhale and imbibe...

    ReplyDelete
  81. Ehyou...no you wouldn't lol

    ReplyDelete
  82. I trust Malzhan and his decision on QB. He has seen them more than we have. I am sure he will teach Todd not to hold on to the ball forever. I have big problem with sacks.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Anonymous9:03 PM

Actually, I see Todd being asked to manage a game and not lose it. Throwing short over the middle but once in a while sending one down field.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous9:05 PM

Kodi won't transfer. This is where he belongs. Neil will be the starter...

    ReplyDelete
  85. Just curious but what kind of relationship did Kodi have with Malzahn in his high school days? I hope for the best for the young man but was mildly curious if he was flat out getting the news from a trusted source as opposed to being strung along like last year.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Anonymous9:06 PM

Like Warren G said, "ain't no love in this game 'cos it's all about the dough."

    ReplyDelete
  87. Yeah Steve, this offense will run a lot of plays unlike last year so I pray that his shoulder holds up. I do think that he is a mature player/leader but as always with AU there always seems to be that big IF.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hey, hey, hey MonDiesel...

    ReplyDelete
  89. Do you guys think Kodi gets a shot a running the wildcat or is he to slow.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I guess I'm a little taken aback at the temperature of some regarding the announcement.

I'm concerned about Chris Todd's arm, but I'm concerned about Neil Caudle's injuries, inexperience and interceptions. I was concerned that Kodi Burns will never get the hang of the game.

See the field, kids. The two weeks was to see 2 things: a) can Todd throw the ball well enough to be competitive? b) Can Tyrik play at this level now?

Apparently the answer to "a" is yes. I believe the answer to "b" is yes as well, but that remains to be seen.

    ReplyDelete
  91. wow. i didn't see this doing down with Kodi. i can't wait to hear him talk about this.

i'm gone making my kids auburn jerseys for a couple hours and the whole place goes nuts. wow.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Anonymous9:12 PM

Its all a prep for TR. That's it.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Jay if they announce the starter tonight will you have to trash the article you wrote for tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  94. Anonymous9:13 PM

Well, hats off to Kodi for not being a whiner and trying to help wherever he can.

He may not have been the answer at QB, but at least he's a class dude.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I'm guessing Kodi is in an orange jersey because he got the news right before practice.

I've always thought highly of him as a person, based on how he's carried himself in interviews. Nothing but respect from me no matter what he ends up doing.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Jet-How did the move go today. A little warm wasn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  97. ScottieB, you were actually making your kids AU jerseys. That is impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Chris Todd named starter.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Jet - What leads you to answer YES to Tyrik?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Tony Franklin press conference in 3...2...1...

    ReplyDelete
  101. Start praying for that arm to hold-up.

    ReplyDelete
  102. This is a new and funny side of you I'm seeing, BigCat. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  103. Last night I commented:

    1. Vets play only 2 series because they had the starter pegged.
    2. Rollison and Moseley play more so coaches can determine if Rollison can handle the leadership role for a sustained amount of time.

I still feel this is correct.

    ReplyDelete
  104. JGT, you kiddin' us? nah, it's gotta be legit. only confirmed sources here.

    WDE CT.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Anonymous9:20 PM

That's a wrap on QB race 2009. Thank you all for watching.

Have your pets spayed or neutered.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I don't understand the surprise over Kodi. It was pretty clear as early as late last season. The reason last season really went into the toilet was not having a backup for Todd and us having to simplify the offense to such a degree we were extremely predictable. The handwriting has been on the wall for a long time. It as if some of you missed all that went on the second half of last season.

    ReplyDelete
  107. wtc- do you think Rollison is first off the bench if Todd struggles or goes down with an injury?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Was Bo Jackson there?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Thanks Mon!! I'm just layered like that :)

    ReplyDelete
  110. The tough part of knowing the starter this year was Neil Caudle. I hadn't seen enough of him to really know if he could be the guy. Why I thought Todd would beat out Caudle is purely because of Borges' and Franklin's opinion of Caudle.

As for Tyrik, my guess is that if Todd hadn't healed, Tyrik would have been a serious threat, but it is still likely that Caudle would have ended up being the man this year.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Monica ... every bit of info that has passed my way says Tyrik can play, and will play.

The who comes off the bench first is the interesting question ... I think the answer is "depends," and that doesn't mean Gus has wet his pants. If you think the situation lets you play Tyrik, let 'er rip. If not, then Caudle.

WTC ... you are dead on regarding the scrimmage, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Depressed-I think he is if we get about 3-4 games into he season. My gut feel is he gets playing time on every game a home at some time. I do not think it will be a 'pull Todd if he screws up thing'. I think Todd id the man until he proves he is not the man. I just hope the fans do not trash him if he throws am INT or something. Now, if he starts to float the ball out there. I think Guss yanks him quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  113. As for who is number 2, my guess is Tyrik.

    ReplyDelete
  114. "I'm obviously in the minority here with my CT hating. Having said that... if CT starts every game this year, I see no more than five wins."

    James,

If Todd's shoulder isn't healed, I can see where you are coming from. However if it is healed, he was a much better decision maker than Burns.

Todd played less and threw 5 TD's, Burns only threw 2 TD's vs 7 Int's.

    ReplyDelete
  115. What changed your mind in the last 30 minues from Caudle to Tyrik, Steve?

    ReplyDelete
  116. Look down the road a bit to see what the coaches are doing. I know it is way early but AU already has 3 top QB's very interested for the next recruiting class (not the one that signs this Feb)It just leads you to think Tyrik is going to play early so you do not have this problem going forward.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Who did Todd's shoulder surgery? Dr James Andrews, right? Then we should be good to go. He's the best at repairing stuff.

Plus, Todd said in practice he threw it 55 yards on the run and hit a WR in stride.

However, Uncle Rico could also probably throw a ball over that mountain. so...

    ReplyDelete
  118. Anyway, I look forward to catching up on the comments in the morning, but for now I'm off to bed.

Everyone enjoy their Ronnie Brown night as it turns into a new Brent Fullwod day tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Uncle Rico can also hit you in the face with a steak from 30 yards away.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Tina. . eat your ham

    ReplyDelete
  121. Your mom goes to college.

    ReplyDelete
  122. WDEwg. LMAO on the Uncle Rico reference. Still one of the best scenes from that movie

    ReplyDelete
  123. looks like Kodi may be staying

    ReplyDelete
