Brandon Jacobs: Officially gone

That's a wrap on Brandon Jacobs' college plans.

According to Baseball America:
Tenth-round pick Brandon Jacobs has agreed to terms on a $750,000 bonus with the Red Sox. He’s expected to sign with Boston once he passes a physical today. His deal is the largest bonus after the eighth round this year, and $600,000 more than MLB’s max recommendation for bonuses after the fifth round.

Good for him. Cash money is good money in my book.

  2. That's Onterrio McCalebb fast!

  3. I haven't gotten a first post in quite awhile. I was pretty close on this one though.

  4. does mine not count due to lack of substance?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Not a lot of substantial substance there, Nugget.

    ReplyDelete
  6. i forgot about that rule. got overzealous.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Nugget, you get a 1/2 for unsubstantial firsties.

    ReplyDelete
  8. so selfish. just think would he could have done for the team and the fans.

    ReplyDelete
  9. But the question mark makes you think.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I saw on teh last thread rk said we didn't play any home night games in '04... wasn't the Georgia game a night game?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Sources are saying to expect me to issue a ruling sometime soon on AUNuggets substance (or lack thereof).

    ReplyDelete
  12. In Eurasia, those who post first with substance are hung by their toes for 7 days. It is a different culture, though. You guys should visit us some time.

  13. no, michael, that game wa at 130 or 230....i remember it very very well. i had a beat with a teach of mine that Auburn would dominate. He had to do push ups in front of the class for that bet....i went to military school.

  14. If you're out and about between 12 and 5 AM tonight, the Perseid meteor shower is supposed to put on a show.

    ReplyDelete
  15. That sounds like reward, Michael. The pressure on the feet should be able to cure any ailments in the major organ groups, and hanging upside down like that will relieve pressure on the back.

  16. nothing good happens after Midnight. Roger Goodell said so.

    ReplyDelete
  17. You are right there, PF. However, by not letting them switch positions any during the 7 days, potty breaks become extra interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  18. UGA in 2004 was a CBS 2:30 game.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think I remember the Georgia game as a night game because night had fallen by the end of it since it was late in the year. I am pretty sure it was dark by the time Reggie Brown was murdered.

    ReplyDelete
  20. that was Junior that made that hit, correct?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Michael, it was dark because the lights went out when Reggie Brown was hit.

Carnell's pass to Mix was definitely in the daylight.

It was a vivid weekend for me. I was supposed to go to the game, but my wife's grandmother died the day before, so I stayed home with her and let my son ride with family members. He sat by himself in Section 56, and enjoyed every minute of it. I watched it on the tube.

  22. Peace out Hotties! Go out and hate a bammer for me today! If you can't bring yourself to hate them, then just stomp the pee out of them. Why should you do that, you ask? Because J-Z said so!

    ReplyDelete
  23. My investigative skillz show multiple shadows during the late game highlights (including Reggie Brown's death), proving that the lights were indeed on, and night had at least initiated its fall.

See I'm not crazy, it was dark during some of the game!

Now I will use these same photographic analysis techniques to disprove the moon landing.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The 04 UGA game was CBS 2:30. definitely dark b the end of the game. We all win!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Harrison ...

Don't tell me you're one of those weenies that believes "everybody plays ... we don't keep score ... and everybody wins."

    That would ... crush me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I was at the game.. we sat very quietly. Oh how things changed with the blackout game.

Now I'd keep cheering for a dawgie or a bammer getting knocked out.

I'm quitting this job. It's making me very violent.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I didn't feel bad for Reggie Brown that day, because I was 75% sure he was a puppet anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I want to see Jet crushed. Harrison, tell him you are a weenie!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I squeal a little when i see a bee. does that make me a weenie??

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't know. Are you allergic? Is the bee acting aggressively? Real men have to squeal sometimes. There is a time and a place for it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Pansies ... both of you.

    I will not be crushed!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Nt allergic, it just sucks real bad to get stung. so i squeal in hopes to scare it off. you know like a viking or something would

    ReplyDelete
  33. Michael ...

    Just wonderin' ...

    Are you Michael Jan Terri?

    Or Michael Ned Beatty?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jet, you said if Harrison was a weenie you would be crushed! You lied! That makes me want to cry. :(

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think Michael Ned Beatty will be the first alternative name that I have rejected here at HABOTN. Mark it down.

I don't squeal like a pig. More like a 7 year old girl.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Wait. I'm not a weenie. I tohught we said it was cool to squeal at a bee. I'm pretty manly other than that.
I don't like for everybody to win, I like to win

    ReplyDelete
  37. Harrison, there is something I need to tell you. I was trying to get you to admit to doing things only a weenie would do by telling you it was OK for you to do them. It was wrong, and I am sorry. I just wanted Jet to be crushed. I didn't know how many other lives would be affected by my actions. I should just go hang out at my dogfighting pen in my backyard where I can't hurt any other human's feelings.

    ReplyDelete
  38. it's ok. you would have won, and we established that there always has to be a winner

    ReplyDelete
  39. You know, if someone just happened into our little blog, they might think we are all a little crazy, especially during puppet hour. I am sometimes a little crazy, so I guess that would be an accurate assessment.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yeah, for real, I did win. Take that all you hatin suckas!

    MJT OUT!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Did anyone besides Kathy get their tickets today? I did not.

    ReplyDelete
  42. MJT IN!

cincy, my Uncle Stan always told me that whenever someone calls you crazy, they are just jealous. I really believe that.

Uncle Stan is in a mental institute now. Apparently a lot of people were really jealous of him, including the judge.

    MJT OUT!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Michael,
I think I would rate you as one of the people I would most like to meet in real life.

    ReplyDelete
  44. The 04 UGA vs. Auburn game was one of my favorites of the decade. We were ranked 3rd and UGA was 5th and we ended up holding UGA scorless till like 5 minutes left in the 4th. I have the game on DVD somewhere and am now inspired to give it a view.

David Pollack now does sports radio in Atlanta and is rather horrible at it if anyone was curious. He's supposed to be the NFL/CFB insider type but he more comes across as a smug, self-righteous know it all. While commenting on the preseason polls the other afternoon, he justified Auburn not deserving a shot for the title in the 04 season b/c of how great the USC vs. Texas game was that year. Sorry for the rant...afternoon sports radio here makes me want to pull my hair out. Did y'all know he was a roommate with David Greene? Ahh, the David's.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Forget Michael, i want to meet Uncle Stan

    ReplyDelete
  46. I listened to Frank Sanders on the Roundtable today. He did a pretty good job, definitely more interesting than the others on there.

Guess he is going to be on Roundtable on Tuesdays, Opening Drive on Fridays and not sure where the rest of the week.

Could be interesting getting his point of view on Auburn. Loved him as a player.

Note to david Pollack: USC beat Oklahoma in the pathetic MNC game that concluded the 2004 season. USC-Tejas was 2005.

    ReplyDelete
  52. If I had just started reviewing this blog, I would think you guys are kind of cliquish.

    ReplyDelete
  53. If I were to come to this page, see the first three posts, then scroll down to WTC's post, I'd say it was not only cliquish, but a clique of people that enjoy pictured of men in some sort of naked state.

    ReplyDelete
  54. USC didn't beat Oklahoma that year. How could they? Oklahoma never really participated in the game. USC just kind of stomped a mud whole in Oklahoma.

As for the UGA game and Reggie Brown's trip to la-la land, it was during the day. I was in the stands. I was one of the first to pronounce Reggie Brown dead.

    ReplyDelete
  55. PF, there is no clique. Fear the clique!!!

  56. Just in case you want to relive that hit.

  57. FYI-The Fedex guy left a note on my door. Need signature for tickets. I gueess I get them Wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Kodi Burns will be the starter. Yes, he will be eliminated from the competition based upon tonight's scrimmage and be relegated to the fourth string.

But in a shocking twist of fate, all three QBs ahead of him will be put out of action based upon mysterious off the field injuries, culminating with Chris Todd being injured the week before the Louisiana Tech game when accidentally hit by a Zamboni on the way to practice.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Jay-Do you think the Cooper kid form Daphne redshirts this year?

    ReplyDelete
  60. So... when do we hear how the scrimmage went?

    ReplyDelete
  61. If you mean which 2 QB's they're going with, I predict tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Wow, I just watched all the highlights of the 2004 AU-GA game. That was a great game! I'd love to see some like that this year.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I predict Caudle and Todd to be named top 2...

    ReplyDelete
  64. I get a little misty eyed every time I watch Ronnie Brown run over a linebacker. I have serious man love for the guy.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Im thinking a new thread is about to happen

    ReplyDelete
  66. It has been raining in Montgomery for about an hour and moving east. I hope that doesn't stall the scrimmage.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I agree with Omnica that we learn nothing about the QB race today. I am sure they will go over the film and we will know something prior to tomorrow's late practice. Tomorrow is another two-a-day isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  68. SFC, i feel the same way about Ronnie B. man crush fo shizzle.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Looks like Burns and Todd did two series each

    ReplyDelete
  70. i predict todd and rollison

    ReplyDelete

Tommorrow may approach a record post count for the HABOTN....QBs gettin' cut will spark a few discussions.

    Eddie's.....hoping that Tyriffik train keeps-a-rollin'.

Steve needs Toddzilla to shine and keep his prediction relevant.

    That'll get it started.

    ReplyDelete
  72. What is Hoopie's prediction?

    ReplyDelete
  73. wtc, I just checked out your avatar and let me tell you, for a guy, you are dang cute.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Todd is your starter...I really do think that. I know noone is feelig the braves thing just then

    ReplyDelete
  75. Bravos having a big 5th inning 4-1

    ReplyDelete
  76. sorry ATL, it was 1-1 last time i checked the Braves. the kids have me pretty distracted.

  78. I agree with Mon, I think it is Todd and Rollinson. I haven't jump on the Rollinson train yet, but I am in line at the ticket window.

SFC-I decided to give up weight lifting and concentrate on my inner beauty.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I see where Lebo has dismissed one player and another took a medical hardship and will never play.

Same story different year for the bball team.

  80. you must be missing your baby girl, WTC

    ReplyDelete
  81. Yes I am. I just walked back into her room to put somethings away and it felt much different in there. Eptiness may feel great after a few months, but today it sux.

Mon...since I haven't been to practices, in team meetings or in the huddles, all I know is what I've seen on the few vids and a lot of rumors....I have no idea.

    I'll offer this:

Kodi's fundamentals look a little better, will they hold up under duress.

Todd's arm doesn't look strong enough.

Caudle has finally been getting reps

Rumor has it the TR is catching on.

    So......Caudle and TR.
