Chris Todd named starter
Gene Chizik just said it.
I'll add information.
*Chizik on Burns: "Kodi felt like he could help this team somewhere on offense. We can use him in the Wildcat. We can put him over there at wide receiver. He's very athletic and we're going to give him every opportunity to help this team."
*Chizik on Todd: "Resilient guy. He's been through a lot. He's studied the game. He's studied the offense. He's got the experience. He's been in the league. He's an older guy. There is no substitute for experience."
*The battle for backup appears to be between Neil Caudle and Tyrik Rollison. Chizik said he's seen "flashes" from Rollison that makes coaches want to rep him more and more.
*Bo Jackson was at practice today ... as you can see above. That hasn't happened in a long, long time.
*Chizik said Freeman's injury is just a bruise.
*Chris Todd on coming into this season: "I really didn't know. I didn't know about my future. I didn't know what I was going to do with my arm. I'm really happy with how this turned out, but I can't say I knew what to expect."
*Burns stood up at a players-only meeting and asked the team to rally behind Todd. "He said he had my back. It took a lot for him to go up there and say that," Todd said.
*Burns said he IS NOT going to transfer. "I'm mature enough to handle this."
*Burns' opening comment: "The coaches chose to go in another direction. I worked really hard. I tried to prove myself. Obviously, things didn't work out. They went with Chris. That's a good thing. I'm 100 percent behind him. Chris Todd is the quarterback and I have no problem with that. There was no mess. It was a great year and a great competition.
I'm a guy who loves competition. Sometimes things don't work out the way you want them to. I'm going to be out there helping this team any way I can.
It was a little bit disappointing at first. Not a little bit. A lot. You've got to move on. I'm mature enough to handle this.
I spoke to the team about it. We're not going to be a divided team. We're all going to come together. The Auburn Nation needs to get behind Chris as well."

bring it toddd
This is the end.... my only friend the end...
yes todd, three d
So Kodi had some inspirational words for the team?
#12 jerseys on sale!!!!!!!
Todd II: The Toddening. Coming soon to a stadium near you.
hang in there James.
the sun will come out....tomorrow. ;)
Jay, who is #2? I just don't see Todd's arm surviving the year.
Well didn't this turn out to be a fun Thursday night?
Now I see why we were picked last in the West! Todd came to Auburn with the injury, and he is still our starter. That's the best we have?
Kathy: No answer on No. 2.
It's Rollison vs. Caudle.
At least I'm not going into this season with false hopes! Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
Damn. Damn damn. This makes me want to pierce my nose with barb wire.
Gus will be earning that salary this year! Don't you know these coaches were surprised to see the shape of our team.
I tend to believe Freeman has a broken thumb. If it's in fact a bruise, that's the biggest bruise cast in American medical history.
good news about Freeman's injury.
Them naming him this early makes it seem like they are pretty confident in him
well howdy Phreddie. tell us how you really feel.
I don't understand the negativity around Todd. He looked very good early last season.
Why waste a year on Todd? At least Caudle would have two years to get decent. If you're gonna consider starting an average senior, you might as well consider starting a freshmen who could get experience for upcoming years...
This really doesn't make much sense, if Todd doesn't do spectacular Malzahn might as well change his last name to Franklin.
Phred ...
What did you want? Rollison? To start the first game? Nah, man.
WTC ...
Was it hot? It was hotter'n Hoopie at a Speculation Convention.
I think that with a healthy Todd and improved WR corp, this offense just became dangerous. We are definately going to need a prolific offense. I think this D will give up more points than we're use to because of lack of depth. Roof is going to need to be creative.
Your Resident Bloggist predicted Todd six months ago.
There were others with me. I won't name names.
In Gus I trust.
That's what I keep telling myself. He must have seen a different QB than the one we all watched last year. Best of luck to Todd, I hope he does well.
Todd can manage the game with good decisions. just let Ben & FAH take over the running game. make a few throws when necessary. what's wrong with that? i felt a little sad at first b/c i really like Kodi. if Malzahn can take a true frosh at Arky and win 8 straight games until Nutt took over & screwed it up i'm sure he can take Todd and make it happen.
Thanks Scottie for that info. I thought Gus played a true freshman at Arkansas. I hope he is grooming Tyrick. I just can't help remembering all those boo birds last year when Todd came into the game. That had to have gotten to him.
*Burns stood up at a players-only meeting and asked the team to rally behind Todd. "He said he had my back. It took a lot for him to go up there and say that," Todd said.
Hotties- Chill on Todd's arm. Dr. Andrews patched him up. It's going to be fine. Tomorrow, he will throw a ball through a car wash and it will come out the other side dry. Watch (GULP)
When Kodi runs out on the field for his first play, I will be standing up cheering the loudest for him. He is a class act.
And those that said Franklin was biased towards Todd were full of crap. He chose the best QB he had at the time. That doesn't make him biased.
So now what do you think the season looks like? More or less wins?
I am guessing 8 or 9 wins at this point.
Storm, can you have MORE than 14 wins?
;)
Picking myself off of the floor after reading Steve's comment that Todd looked VERY GOOD early last year.
please stop the auto play....anyways I called it. Well we all did really.
I am moved and proud that KB did that. I really hope that something good happens for him.
Just told my husband, who is a fan of the evil team, who the Auburn starting QB is, and he grinned and shook his head. Don't think too many defenses will be scared on him! Been there, done that.
"of"
I posted this late on the other thread:
Look down the road a bit to see what the coaches are doing. I know it is way early but AU already has 3 top QB's very interested for the next recruiting class (not the one that signs this Feb)It just leads you to think Tyrik is going to play early so you do not have this problem going forward.
Jim, some people cannot evaluate QBs and end up in the floor.
Jim after all everything looks good when you the ice chest is empty... that was the case more than not last year
Jay, I predicted it when i heard Tate's comments. That sealed the deal for me.
Borges, Franklin, and Malzahn have made it clear that neither Caudle or Kodi have got what it takes. I still can't believe some fans can't understand that.
Watch what a QB does on the field. Don't judge him only based upon stats or the win loss record. Looks at that the decision he makes.
This makes me feel a lot better to be honest
Burns WILL NOT transfer.
I don't care who is QB all I care about is winning and not feeling like we lost when we won ( LAST YEAR TENN GAME) Lets all gt behind the guys like we were last summer. Hopefully with better results
Using 2009 as a vindication for 2008 events is misguided. Everyone involved was flawed, and deserved a share of the blame. Of course, the man at the top was ultimately held accountable. As he should have been as the man at the top.
wow, that last quote brought me to tears. Thats like win one for the gipper or when Mick died in Rocky II or when Old Yeller was shot. That took alot of courage for Kodi to stand up and say that. We dont need the team split. He is a bigger man than most. I am about to get up and put on some Lee Greenwood and salute the flag. War Eagle...:)
Well I do believe this is a good choice. I do think that Caudle would have been a good choice too. Oh and Kathy my wife is also a member of the dark side and she asked who her team QB was I told her and she said who?
Wow Jay, that isn't a 360, but it must be a 359.
Or is that a 179 or 180? Someone get me a protractor.
maybe he is the best guy, no help from ctf on this one, hope it works out for him and us.
This is a very good choice. Now the big thing is ensuring we have a number 2 QB. That is what killed us last season.
I need a protractor so I can stab myself in the eye.
Repeatedly.
Franklin is a wierdo and lets leave him out of this
I think several are selling Todd short here. If the shoulder is good, he will be fine. if not, we move to plan B. Think about this: The others were not good enough to separate themselves from a guy that had shoulder surgery earlier this year.
You have Borges that thought Kodi and Caudle were not the answer. You had Franklin (that many threw under the bus) that thought neither were the answer. And now you have Gus that is saying the say thing. How many more do you want?
Jay any idea when you can get Burns on tape?
wtc, I went back and read your posts on the last page. Your comments make sense, and I was talking about Todd struggling in his ability to make throws down the field, not throwing interceptions. Knowing how Malzahn likes to throw the deep ball, I've gotta believe he thinks Todd is able to make those throws.
I am both nervous and excited to see this offense on opening night.
Is number two a Mini TOdzilla?
Oh no, they said he could not throw, oh no, Todzilla!!! Eeeh!!! Eeeh!!! Eeeh!!!
I just got a twitter from Jay G Tate that said Burns will not transfer. Is this guy a credible source?
Kodi burns just dove on the grenade for the team..
Oh no you say we have to go go go TOdilla hey heey heeeyy
In Chris Todd we trust? mmm
Kodi is definitely a mature young man. I hope Dr. Andrews is a miracle healer and Todd's arm holds out long enough for Tyrick to learn the offense. At least our first 4 games are at home.
Whether Todd is 100% healthy or not, we need a solid #2. This is the SEC, not intramurals. I am hoping there is enough time to get Tyrik ready as the number 2. From what I have seen from our OCs, Caudle is just good enough to be dangerous.
KB and NC may not have what it takes but neither does CT.
Having what it takes does not mean holding on to the ball for more than 5 seconds in the pocket. It does not mean throwing 10 yd "bombs" to your tight end. It does not mean under throwing your down field receivers. It does not mean stepping on your centers ankle multiple times. It does not mean fumbling the snap multiple times. It does not mean staring down your intended receiver...
Now if the coaches are just going to have CT turn around and hand the ball off 30 plus times a game - he might be able to do that, IF he can fix the QB/Center exchange problem he had last year.
what if they break out the godzilla song on offense and the roof is on fire song on defense
Chris Todds arms was designed by the schools engineering program so it should be fine, it also serves as a rocket launcher, grappling hook and a pencil sharpner
Todd is a good QB, maybe very good. We shall see. He looked very good to me last season.
depressed-If he can't make the throws, I think Gus would never name him as the starter. Too much on the line. This team has to win this year to get the train back on track. They do not have to win a lot, but they have to win and they can't look sluggish, weak, ineffective in the games they win or lose. So if he could not make the throws, I think he doesn't play.
Looks an outbreak of goofy flu on here tonight.
I love pre-season, everyone is good until the season starts.
Dear Auburn,
Please let the current staff be able to recruit good QB prospects.
Thank you.
"The Auburn Nation needs to get behind Chris as well."
Code for - look we know he sucks but this is the best option because after we go 1-11, they'll fire this clown for a head coach and go get a real one.
OK, that's settled. Now, bring on some football!
Todd showed he knew when to throw the ball away, operated the offense well, and made good decisions. Yea, the offense had issues early last season but it had absolutely nothing to do with Todd, contrary to what the couch potatoes think. The guy is good and nearly beat out Graham Harrell. If his arm holds up, he could be a very good QB. I don't expect greatness. I expect goodness and hope for very goodness.
lets pray for a good offensive line and a good running game and that way all she can do is manage the game and not lose it.
Hudson Hawk, if you are going to talk about Auburn players like that, please become an LSU or Bama fan. You would fit in much better.
james-I will disagree there. I think Todd has what it takes. He didn't last year due to an injury.
He had it repaired and if healthy he is way ahead of the other two. He is not a Heisman guy but all we have to do is have a leader that everyone can rally around.
Randy Campbell for AU and Gary Hollingsworth for UAT come to mind.
LOL HH
Steve - I know where you live and I'm about to send someone to take your computer away.
see he is growing on all of us...until sept 5th, i am optimistic i am behind him. he is our best hope i agree.
WTC - thank you for reposting. I don't want to lose track of any of your opinions.
wtc, Randy Campbell is a great example. I would have picked Jay Barker for Bama. Neither were great QBs, but both were very good because of their decision making ability.
Sorry to offend, but I just see this as a bad move by a not ready for prime time coach.
And for the record, SteveFC, I'm not dogging Todd. He blew his arm at Texas Tech.
This is laughable. We are a joke.
Oh well, there's always hope for recruiting. Shouldn't be too hard.
plenty of spots available on the let's hope 2010 is better train
Hudson, I am not sure why you are so down on Malzahn. He is one of the best OCs out there. Get with the program.
I hope HH was kidding. This team will do better than several outsider think as long as injuries do not take us out. If Au wins 8-9 games, Chizik will get a lot of praise. If they lose too many, I think he gets a pass for a couple of years.
Barker, Campbell, and Hollingsworth could all throw the ball further than 10 yds down the field and not have it look like a lame duck. They didn't have to do it often, but when they had to they did.
Last year CT couldn't do it when he had to - therein lies the difference.
I am going to pull out my DVDs of last season and watch the games in which CT played just to make sure I am not completely missing something here...
I'm not surprised by this... but, I don't think it is really the best case scenario for AU.
IF Todd lasts the whole season, then we're just going to go through this very same thing next season.... and IF Caudle were to win it next season, we'd go through another QB race the next season.
And to say Todd looked very good last season, is preposterous. He was immobile, and had the arm of a wet noodle stuck to a chicken wing.
I do think that IF his arm is better (significantly stronger) that Todd is a better option than Burns. I guess I was just hoping Caudle could step up and get the job. I will be skeptical until I see results on the field to tell me otherwise.
Hudson, I won't argue whether I can judge QBs better than you, but I will say that you seem to think you can judge better that Malzahn, Franklin, or Borges. You should really put your application in at the athletic department and see where it gets you.
Todd looked very good last season and was never immobile. He isn't as fast as Caudle or Burns, but he was far from immobile.
I am not a Chizik homer. I was stunned when he was hired. I think he has learned from his mistakes at ISU. I think he is ready for prime time. Let's not forget, the ugliness behind the scenes made this a hard place to recruit the BIG name coaches that would make a splash.
That will change in the coming years.
good grief
Todd's not going to have to be Colt McCoy or Sam Bradford. like i said before, just give the ball to Tate & McCalebb and not make mistakes. put us into the right plays. this is going to work. chillax!
Back off Steve. It's called an opinion.
I have one.
So do you.
We don't have to all agree all the time.
This ain't Oz buddy. (The fairy tale or the prison.)
And for the Kodi faithful, even he says get behind Todd. I find it ironic that there are so many Auburn fans that are clueless when it comes to evaluating a QB.
OK, those who don't want Todd, then who? Make the affirmative case, not the negative one.
Rollison? He's gonna play. Bank on it. But let's not fool ourselves into thinking he's ready to start from day one.
Caudle? A grand total of 8 passes in three years -- none against D-1 opposition. He's completed five of them -- four to our guys, one to theirs. He hasn't played a full season of football since 2003. I was in my 30s in 2003.
Kodi? Obviously that wasn't going to happen.
we can agree to disagree on that, Steve
And notice you don't get the childish post from me saying this guy sucks or that guy sucks. These are all good athletes and good coaches. Some fans need to grow up and learn that these folks know a bit more about football than any of us.
I second what Monica said.
"I was the guy last year, but things change. Things happen for a reason...I'm not going to let the circumstances dictate the content of my character." -- Kodi Burns
Kodi just proved he's a better person than you and me.
And I am extremely proud of Kodi Burns and how he handled this. He isn't lying when he says he is mature. It takes a man to handle something like this with such maturity. Hats off to Kodi.
James-I appreciate your passion. However, it is not fair to compare an unhealthy Todd to any of those. Now if he can't make those throws now, we have a problem. I trust Gus would not pick him to start if he could not throw it down field because his offense calls for the ball to be thrown down field.
Just my opinion.
I honestly don't know who the best answer for THIS year should be. But, you have to realize that this potentially sets us up for having to break in a new QB each of the next 3 years. There is no possible way to build by not having some consistency at that position.
Brother Jet...
I say give it to TR and let him go through the growing pains and gain the experience.
This is not going to be a great season, probably not even a good one. Auburn will take some lumps.
To me it makes more sense to take those lumps with someone who is going to be around in the next few years, someone that can benefit from the learning experience, than to take them with a guy who probably isn't going to last an entire season this year.
But like Hawk said - it's just an opinion and we all have one.
Amen, Eddie's Brother, preach on. Join brother Jet. The unity the team is showing here is great. It is a shame some fans can't join in that unity.
I would have trusted Malzahn's decision had he chosen someone else, so the negative people need to learn to trust their coaches. We will get proof soon enough.
i suspect this might be a late night for JG at HABOTN headquarters.
D Miller, hopefully that will not be a problem if we do a good job of developing a backup. Auburn has made the mistake of playing the starter too much for too long. Lets see the number 2 guy get in for one or two series a game.
this is a lot to take in on Ronnie Brown day too. whew.
War Damn Kodi. He has proven his worth in gold. If even has an average career at WR, he will be endeared by the Auburn faithful for years. I might go and buy an 18 jersey now.
Nice should out to Dr. King from Kodi.
Kodi's response to this situation personifies what Auburn is about - there is no doubt to that.
should = shout
WDCWE, I am with you. Kodi is a great example to Auburn fans and players. He is a man and deserves a lot of respect. I do hope to see him get some playing time. He is a great athlete and can contribute to this team.
Dmiller-I think next year we will not be breaking in a new QB. And we have the QB of our future, as it stands now as the #2 guy, in my opinion. He WILL play. why waste one year on him if he doesn't play?
Tyrik gets plenty of playing time this year so AU does not have this problem next year.
Auburn is a family and should behave that way. Kodi is showing us that. A family doesn't say their brother sucks or their father sucks. That isn't family. That is destructive behavior. I have no patience with people that basically abandon their duty to family.
JGT, why did you (and others), feel so confident it would be CT six months ago????
"Call it fate, call it luck, call it karma. I believe everything happens for a reason."
-Dr. Pete Venkman, Ghostbuster
Bo was at practice today. It's been a long time since we've seen in on that field. Great to have him around the team.
I can't take any more of this craziness. Y'all have a good night.
James ...
I've said for weeks I think Rollison plays, but he needs a learner's permit, not the driver's license.
But throwing him in there from the git-go would place the first four games in jeopardy, which would be utter foolishness.
So the question comes down to who's the best to drive the car until Tyrik is ready? WTC is seeing the ball best here.
Okay Hudson, here's the deal. When you come into somebody's house (and this is our house) you don't start out picking fights right off the bat. Just a good rule of thumb. But, you are your own man as we all can see.
Todd is the guy. Let's move on.
Kodi is a heroic young man. I hope a winning touchdown catch is in his future.
NEVER, EVER, EVER thought Caudle was the guy. The dude just is not a warrior for whatever reason. You have to be one, and apparently Todd is.
Todzilla has been my theme for a while. Playing time for the backup will be the next theme. Don't count any QB out. I look forward to this season because I am getting a very good feeling about this team. It seems to be coming together much sooner than anything I saw from Tuberville after 2004. This team has the same attitude as that 2004 team had after the 2003 season. It is very unlikely they repeat the success of 2004, but I expect this team to surprise someone.
That is why I am not saying 9 wins rather than 7. Naming a starter this early will likely buy us a couple of more wins. Franklin would have done much better if he had done the same thing. Unity is everything.
I agree wtc. I think #2 will definitely get plenty of playing time in preparation for next year. Things will be different this year. Has to be. I'm really excited with this staff that Chizik has put together. Todd's shoulder is his uncertainty. We don't know how it will hold up, but the next 2 weeks should tell some of that tale.
Jet-thanks for the props.
This staff has the big picture in mind. Very much like the staff up the road. You can not turn this ship around in one year, but you can certainly run further into the ground in one year.
AU gets the QB situation worked out this year, look like they are moving in the right direction, recruits come in (it has been awhile since we discussed recruiting) and we are ready to churn out some big wins and I do believe some championships.
Not gonna wade in too heavily....don't wanna get snot and blood on me.
Jet and WTC absolutely make the most sense.
As far as NC and KB go....Borges, Franklin and Malzahn have seen them and not chosen those 2. Are all of those coaches idiots just and the angry fans right?
To the folks whining and complaining that we aren't going to have a great season...have you been in Carbon Freeze the entirety of 2010? This isn't news.
I wish Kodi the best and hope the coaches can find a way to get him in the game. We may be surprised at what his athleticism can do when unshackled.
Phred, I must admit that I had hoped Caudle would step up, but from what I have read I guess i knew it just wasn't going to happen. Caudle as the starter would have been the feel good story, but you don't go by feel good. Todd has looked better than any other QB we have has. Apparently even Kodi recognizes it.
FWIW-Several of my contacts in AU told me last year that Caudle was VERY happy as the backup. Iam not doggin' him, but they all seem to think he did not mind not getting playing time.
We seem to have some receivers stepping up this year, and a coach to coach them!
I could watch Trooper Taylor coach all day long.
War Eagle!!! everyone. Have a good night. I must get back to work.
Monica, I was even wearing my hat backwards this afternoon while I was doing some yard work!
CTT is definitely a huge improvement over Knox, and that is an understatement.
maybe Kodi's CT support speech could be our version of the 2008 Tebow speech. that could be the turning point where everybody gets on the same page. that, or i could just be full of it. who knows.
you've just gotta believe/hope that Kodi has his shining moment in AU lore one day, whether it be at the Wildcat position or at WR.
hahaha Kathy I love it. I think I may have to do like Scottie and duplicate CTT's entire ensemble.
Kathy, i encourage everyone to wear backwards hats, sunglasses, longsleeve tees & shorts together. oh, and facial hair.
Monnie, you beat me to it.
Getting late for this old man. Time to turn it in.
You guys keep the faith. AU will be just fine.
How long do you think it will take for about 3/4 of the stadium to wear their hat's backwards?
i may have to give Kodi a bear hug at fan day sunday.
i don't think i'm ready to commit to the facial hair
We'll have to have a CTT day for the fans to do that Phred!
Phred ... when the stadium's 3/4's full.
How excited do you think they players were to have Bo Jackson, Heisman Trophy Winner, out on the field with them today? I know I was excited to see that photo of him on Jay's front page.
Excuse my typos. It's getting late!
Wes: I didn't think Kodi Burns had the goods to be a good quarterback at Auburn. He's not a gifted passer.
He has a strong arm, but he just never was able to control his passes enough to make him a real threat.
I'm goin' with about halfway through the first game. Later, it will become an ESPN craze. They will talk about it all the time. If we happen to make a game day, somebody will declare us the winner by putting an AU ball cap on backwards.
Jet, you don't think the 1st game will be a sell out?
I never posted my opinion, but wanted Kodi to be the starter...if he fixed the problems. If not Kodi, then I hoped NCaudle would develop beyond Todd and be the starter. None of that happened.
Todd will be better than last season b/c his arm is stronger. We will now have an average SEC senior QB with a very good OC.
Earlier, I predicted a 6-6 regular season with possibilities to win as many as 8. I still feel the same.
Kathy, it isn't yet.
I actually meant (facetiously) the first 60,000 fans will have their hats turned backwards.
Now that we have a starting QB, tickets will be in high demand!
I have a video brewing.
If you don't want to wait up to see it, I totally understand. It'll be here in the morning.
Hoopie ... our expectations are similar.
Video ETA: 11:30 p.m.
It's been a long day ... I wonder what ElTurbo's doing.
Good night, kids.
scottie b, give Kodi a hug for me too. I am very proud of him. His parents must be really good folks and should be very proud for raising such a fine young man.
So what are the realistic possibilities of Kodi transferring?
Kathy - See how you like this pic of Bo.
http://auburntigers.cstv.com/#00
Matt, Kodi has already state that he is NOT transferring.
I'm surprised that Kodi is electing to stay -- I always got the impression that he wanted to play quarterback only -- but he said tonight that he's staying.
JGT: Thanks for the response. So it was Todd by default (i.e. it wasn't going to be Kodi). What about Caudle, did you see something or not see something that ruled him out?
I think Rollison is No. 2.
Chizik had a lot to say about Rollison, almost nothing to say about Caudle.
Very cool Monica. I always wondered why Bo wasn't more involved. He would be a great recruiting tool. I guess he's in Auburn more since his daughter is there.
Thanks Kathy. I'm super impressed how Kodi has handled this development. Wouldn't it be ironic to see a Todd to Kodi TD connection this Fall?
I suspect (ie I don't have on-the-record attribution) that Caudle is still prone to interceptions. And Malzahn, like his predecessor, doesn't dig interceptions.
I'm not too fond of interceptions either!
so much for recruiting ratings. burns and caudle (both very highly touted) have a full year and can't beat out a guy who is sitting on the bench healing from shoulder surgery.
Matt, we could all take a lesson from Kodi. I'm on the Todd bandwagon, but more importantly, I'm on the Auburn bandwagon. I believe in this coaching staff. I think they will also develop a #2 QB.
Scottie (and any others going to fan day)...give Kodi a fist bump from me and tell him how proud we are to have him as a member of the Auburn Family.
Can Kodi become another Hines Ward? Ward ain't lightning fast, but can get it done.
Exactly wes. Those star ratings are just a "best guess."
Lively discussion peeps, I've been directing a support group of local alums locally, all of which were in meltdown mode, they were KB fans. And they all think Todd is rubbish.
Love the perspective Jet, Steve, you should move into meteorology. Right on with that CT warning.
I'm going with the whole "If he's got a blue jersey..." mentality. I would love to CT light it up his last go around, it will be a great story if he does.
Night folks!
Downfield vision requirements for a QB vary greatly from HS to the SEC. The coverages are just a little more complicated also.
Told yall KB wouldn't see the field unless it was in the slot.
TR looks good. At this point, I hope he is #2 and actually gets in the games.
CGC can't afford to sacrifice the season just to train TR. We need to show progress throughout the year in order to convince recruits to commit to AU.
So JGT, does this change your article for tomorrow? I know you were working on way regarding the QBs.
OK folks. I'm calling it a night. I've had too many typos in my last few comments. War Eagle! Kick off is just around the corner.
night...
My editing application quit on me. I have having to re-import footage from the camera.
Video ETA now 11:45 p.m.
My first story went in the trash.
So it goes.
FOOTBALL
huge cast for "bruised thumb"...hmmm Gamekeeper's thumb, perhaps?
it's day #22 here in the ET THT. what's going on? j/k.
i really need to go to bed.
in other Auburn news, Timmy Hudson had a solid rehab start tontie for AAA Gwinnett.
ok, i'm done. nite.
btw, it's Friday in my neck of the woods, which means...
T-minus 22 days til kickoff!!!
HAPPY BRENT FULLWOOD DAY!!!
I must admit, I feel a little uneasy honoring Mr. Fullwood. Despite his many accomplishments on the gridiron, his highly publicized decision to play hooky from class his senior season (at that time it was not a violation of NCAA rules) still bothers me. Mr. Fullwood, come back to Auburn and get that degree!
Brent Fullwood was fast, almost Bo fast. The native of Kissimmee, FL ranks 6th in career rushing yards at Auburn. He was a consensus All-American and All-SEC player his senior season, leading the country with an 8.3 yards per carry average. He placed 6th in Heisman balloting that year and was the 4th overall selection in the NFL draft by the Green Bay Packers. He made the 1989 NFL Pro Bowl Team as a FB. Honest!.
Honorable mention:
Mitzi Jackson, my personal favorite and a native of DeFuniak Springs, FL. A great runner whose AU career was limited by injuries. I think he was #22, but not absolutely certain....it's been a long time!
Tre Smith - 2002 Iron Bowl, nuf said.
Casinious Moore - Anniston RB lettered in 2000 and 2001.
Danny Arnold - DB from the '70s; his two INTs led the team in 1976.
Gabe Gross - was in the rotating quarterback position at Auburn in 1998, then decided to concentrate on baseball. It must have been the right choice, 'cause he's still in the Big Leagues.
that's right ScottieB, ask a question and then don't wait up for an answer. Some nerve.
had to give a HABOTN shout out from New Jersey where i have been training for the new job all week.
as long as todd has determined LBs from the other team are not his intended target, we'll be OK. just win baby!!!
he's come a long way from throwing imaginary passes to the starting QB position. WDE
actually THT, i'm still around.
ok, now i'm gone.
happy Fullwood day. 22 days....wow.
Sweet dreams, full of bama hate, ScottieB!
WAR EAGLE!!!
hey chip chip, great to hear from you. Enjoying Jersey?
Writer Tate - please accept my apology for bailing on you here. Pretty long day for me tomorrow so I better get a few hrs sleep. I hope you can sleep in tomorrow. Thanks for the awesomeness of your reports.
I know you all are asleep, as you should be, but video will be live just before midnight CDT.
Never underestimate my insomnia!!!
Debut scheduled for 12:01 a.m.
I feel kind of disappointed here... it kind of looked to me in the couple of videos I saw that Todd was still throwing ducks...
Micheal, it is a little known fact that our receivers were trained in duck hunting by a previous staff.
hello HOTTIES
Jay G we are always here.... we eat, sleep and run da street for HABOTN!
