- Auburn practiced for approximately two hours in the rain this evening. The team was in full pads.
- Gene Chizik seemed unusually satisfied with the effort he saw on the field tonight.
- Chizik still seems pretty high on S Daren Bates, even entertaining the idea of starting the freshman at free safety on Saturday.
- Kodi Burns sounded confident that he's the Wildcat quarterback.
- TB Mario Fannin said he's the No. 1 guy on punt return and is in a mix with Onterio McCalebb, Harry Adams and Terrell Zachery on the kickoff-return team.
- OL Andrew McCain said he'll be spending more time than usual this week watching "cut-ups" of Louisiana Tech's defensive front. Auburn's video guys provide DVDs for players to view at home. McCain thinks many players will cherish those DVDs this week.
- Walt McFadden said Chizik has been showing highlights of Auburn's 2004 season lately ... in an effort to show younger players how things are supposed to work on the Plains.

Practice notes, 8/30
Hey everyone. Let's boogie.
NO DROPS!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm back
ReplyDeletenothing better than football in the rain!
ReplyDeleteI hope no one slid and got their head caught under a fence.
The THT crew taking it to all hours of the evening..
ReplyDeleteI saw the Bham newspapers today and it had the projected starting line-ups for AU and bama. Thay had Bates as the starter along with Ethridge.
ReplyDeleteCorey Barlow was underrated. As was Eltin Billingsley. That is all.
ReplyDeleteThis happens when you follow Carlos Cheatom.
Hey DL!!! Neither I nor 2.0 were logged in when we got to HABOTN and saw a new thread. Her login in is shorter than mine :-(
ReplyDeleteJetstein's Theory of Relativity ...
ReplyDeleteUAT's a bunch of Cousin Humpers.
2004 is a good selection for DVD watching.
ReplyDeleteFootball in the rain... nothing better!
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope the players are cherishing those vids and paying close attention to them.
I want to see speed, speed and more speed on KOreturns... so put Adams, and McCalebb back there.
THT- excuses, excuses.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike....
ReplyDeleteGood night all
War Eagle.
That's a lot of highlights.
ReplyDeleteWatching 2004 was pure joy. I would love to experience that level of joy again.
ReplyDeleteD. We had speed back thare last year in PPL. He tore his knee up first play of he season.
ReplyDeleteFrom the previous thread as I was expounding on hopes as a new thread was being built.
ReplyDeleteOkay so I did some reading on La Tech's site (okay so I'm anxious and nervous), evidently they were a decent run and a very poor passing team in their conference last year, and it should be more of the same this year. I'm hoping the D Line and LB depth can handle their run, because they will probably be doing that alot, from what it sounds like.
Don't remember Miss Luzanne. I did have stone cold fox for a 5th grade Teacher. She gave us about 10 mimeographed worksheets every day. Let's just say that particular smell had embarassing effects on me for several years afterwards.
ReplyDeleteso, when you get old and your performance drops off, you think you'll try mimeograph ink before you ask your doctor about cialis?
ReplyDeleteBy the way - was there a consensus of opinion from the group about $aban's extensions? I always thought his hair was real
ReplyDeleteJZ. Was that Mrs. Ceebles. Don't know if the spelling is correct. A blond bombshell. I had her in the 5th grade too. The first teacher I fell in luv with....LOL
ReplyDeleteJust use Popsicles, PF...
ReplyDeletej-z - I can imagine you often having to say, "no thanks, I'll take a zero" when a teacher asked you to work out a problem on the board.
ReplyDeleteScottie..thanks for the gamenotes link. Noticed that the 2009 depth chart isn't posted yet.
ReplyDeletePrattville Elementary teachers: Mrs. King(later principal). Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Parker.
Alright, how many of us regular folks here lived in P'ville at one time or another? By my count and in no particular order; NORM, j-z, sco-cho, IV, Hoopie, Sponge.
ReplyDeleteSponge, this was in Tennessee. I didn't move to Prattville until 6th grade. My 7th grade English teacher was Mrs. Leatherwood. 'Nuff said.
ReplyDeleteGaines too.
ReplyDeleteFOOTBALL
ReplyDeleteI lived in north fungumprey for a couple of years, recently... that almost counts as P'ville...
ReplyDeleteu guys are going to make me get out my old annuals. I can't really remember most of my teachers. just a few that made an impact. Mr. Register for math anyone?
ReplyDeleteI like the way you think, jhag.
ReplyDeleteThat list is not a ringing endorsement for Prattville.
ReplyDeleteThe pungent perfume of Union Camp/IP wafts over the HABOTN.
ReplyDeleteI had him for Geometry.
ReplyDeleteDmiller, no, it doesn't.
Watch it Mon. Lest we bring Brewwwwton into the discussion. ;<)
ReplyDeletelol@ Monica!
ReplyDeleteI am walking, breathing proof that Brewton is second only to the Garden of Eden.
ReplyDeletesnap
Norm, I had a summer job at the mill, digging ditches with the dregs of society. You know how hard it was to show up at 5:30 in the morning with a serious hangover, then have that smell hit you. Made you want to call Earls name real bad.
ReplyDeleteProvided your idea of paradise is marrying your 2nd cousin.
ReplyDeleteSponge, when were you in Prattville?
ReplyDeleteMon. Did you know that Iron Butterfly's song, "In a Gadda da vida" was originally "In the Garden of Eden", but they were so tore up when rehearsing that it came out wrong. Interesting tidbit.
ReplyDeleteAn attempt at an insult from a prattville boy who gets turned on by mimeograph ink, protests the wearing of pants and is addicted to nyquil doesn't quite land.
ReplyDeleteJZ. Moved there in 2nd grade. Graduated in 79
ReplyDeleteMon - while I don't agree with you on this, I will compliment you on your nice recall on things j-z.
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting, indeed, Mr. Worthy.
ReplyDeleteAnyone feelin a chatroll anyone? Im not peer pressuring im just curious
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Prattville. Is that good? Or bad?
ReplyDeleteI did drive by on I-65 in 1978 when headed from Auburn to Nashville for the Vandy game (49-7 AU win).
Also spent 4 weeks at Maxwell AFB in the BUH-LAZING hot summer of 1980. That's about as close to Prattville as I've been.
Prattville? Is that where people say they are from if they don't won't to admit to the gump?
ReplyDeleteLOL Digger
ReplyDeleteI'd rather say I'm from Mitylene. Of course, I know nothing about Mitylene. I just like saying the name.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Norm.
ReplyDeleteWell I've never been to spain...But I kinda like the music. Say the ladies are insane there. but they sure know how to use it. don't abuse it, never gonna lose it......
ReplyDeleteThat was really written about Prattville.... :)
Hotties, its game week no more doing it for practice. We get it on this Saturday, time to get your Chizik Face on! Time for the "Chizik Effect" to take shape.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear Rod Bramlett say "War Eagle everyone welcome the the Gene Chizik era"...
i can't wait to hear:
ReplyDelete"Official Jordan-Hare Stadium time is 5:00. We are now one hour away from kick-off."
I got my first speeding ticket in Prattville, but I never lived there. I was late for a tennis tournament.
ReplyDeleteHow many hotties are going to the game. I'll be there, ready to rock.
ReplyDeleteESPNU? I don't think I get that on my Comcast package. I may have to call them up and threaten them with a stink bomb.
ReplyDeletei'll be in section 12, row 11,seat 1.
ReplyDeleteMrsTHT and I will be there. THTjr may be there or not, depending on babysitting arrangements for Molly dog.
ReplyDeletedigger, Comcast in knoxville has ESPNU but it's like channel 500 or 700. very odd. it's between the porn and the music channels. dunno why they put it there. try that.
ReplyDeleteI shall be there.
ReplyDeleteI'll be in my usual seat on the 23 yard line.
ReplyDeleteyou sure you can find the campfire this time, jhag?
ReplyDeletedigger - you might be surprised to find that you do have it. It's a VERY recent addition to the lineup (at least for me it is) in both standard and high-def.
ReplyDeleteWill do scottie Thanks
ReplyDeletehe just has to flash his membership card and he'll be in like Flynn, whatever that means
ReplyDeleteNorm you may be right I will have to go searching later tonight.
ReplyDeleteI spent the afternoon today in Prattville, breaking down a store.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to avoid any trips to the "Perforated Community" for the time being.
D. Don't make that boy whip out his RoF card on you again!
ReplyDeleteTHT - c'mon, a history buff such as yourself, you've heard the story behind that. Right? I mean, I don't recall the specifics, but I have the general idea.
ReplyDeleteIm reaching for it..
ReplyDeleteWill be at the game ... either in my Section 56 seats or in the Club Level as the guest of a friend.
ReplyDelete'Scuze me while I whip this out!
ReplyDeleteIsn't someone going to help that man?
ReplyDeletein like flint, not flynn
ReplyDeletelol @ Hag
I will help him out
ReplyDeleteWhich door did he come through?
In Like Flint is the name of a horrible James Coburn movie. In like Flynn refers to Errol Flynn's predilection for young girls.
ReplyDeleteI guess everyone went to the talkie thingie.
ReplyDeleteCatch you later
I guess everyone went to the talkie thingie.
ReplyDeleteCatch you later
2 different things Mon.

Not everyone can be helped.
ReplyDeleteso we're under 6 days 0 hour 0 minutes.
ReplyDeleteIs it time to post the Day 5 Kickoff Kountdown?
My dinner was fabulous, Jet. It had been entirely too long.
ReplyDeletewhere are the Hay fields?
ReplyDeleteWhatcha have?
ReplyDeleteBEASLEY!!!
ReplyDeleteSay thanks for the setup, THT!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the setup, sir.
ReplyDeleteRe: your post, THTjr and I were just watching the youtube video of the 1971 AU @ UT game. Schamlz was a real hero in that one.
my keyboard is dyslexic
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there were two. flint and flynn. I only knew of flint.
ReplyDeleteThe BBQ shrimp. Wrapped in bacon....hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteGarrett Anderson, your fired
ReplyDeleteBACON!
ReplyDeleteI'm so looking forward to Wanda Sykes HBO special in October - "I'MA Be Me"
ReplyDeleteMonica, were you watching True Blood? I just saw the commercial for that. Was that a bleep?
ReplyDeleteHBO doesn't bleep people! WTF
ReplyDeleteLOL I love her.

Now, I'm watching HUNG

ReplyDeleteI love the bit she does about turning 40 and getting the I don't give a F, disease.
ReplyDeleteRay Hung....Coach Ray Hung...
ReplyDeleteMonica do you watch Entourage?
ReplyDeleteI'm watching Ed "Look at my biceps, so you won't notice how I screwed the Chargers last year" Hoculi officiate the Bears-Broncos game.
ReplyDeleteso our spread is 13, Im hearin, I thought it would be less to be honest
ReplyDeleteYep, Hag. I secretly desire Arie.
ReplyDeleteKristina-for someone that is not find of Montogmery, you sure are here a lot.
ReplyDeleteI wil be a the game in my usual spot. I would tell you where it is, but look for the calves and lats and you will find me.
'not fond of Montgomery"
ReplyDeleteIs anyone really fond of the gump?
ReplyDeletecrickets
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think I live in Prattville, Dusty?
ReplyDeleteMy 21 yr old self and 3 under-agers were forced pour out every beer in our cooler in the Prattville McDonald's parking lot. No charges were pressed due to the presence of numerous Auburn car decorations and a cop with good taste in schools.
ReplyDeleteThere aren't many parking lots in town that I wasn't forced to pour beer out in. The lot behind Steve's disco is probably still drunk.
ReplyDeleteMy parents live there, well Pike Road, technically so I am there more than I would care to be.
ReplyDeleteTHT ... sorry just got back in.
ReplyDeleteThe Hay Fields are across from Ham Wilson arena ... corner of Lem Morrison and Donahue ... straight shot down Donahue to the stadium.

ReplyDeleteThis is pretty hillarious, SEC fans talking about Wade Christopher like he is Chuck Norris
Ich bin ein Gumpian!
ReplyDeleteThanks, AUFan365.
ReplyDeleteNo worry, I was out for a while, too. Listening to/watching Les Miserables youtube videos, original London cast version.
Chuck Norris wears Wade Christopher PJs.
ReplyDeleteColm Wilkinson....
ReplyDeleteBob Saget = greasy, creepy guy
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Chizik is sassified. And I always know when he's sassified, cause he starts callin my name. Clarence Carter, Clarence Carter, Clarence Carter...
ReplyDeleteGood night to you all. Keep hate strong.
ReplyDelete& Frances Ruffelle
ReplyDeleteNice THT.
ReplyDeleteGary Cole is definitely playing Jay G in the habotn movie...well HABOTN: The Later Years anyway.
AUFan - that's just about the exact spot where I "caught" a luna moth for my bug collection sr year
ReplyDeleteg'night all. I've got to get to bed early cause I suspect Molly dog will be waking me up a few times in the middle of the night. I think she's trying to find her mommy.
ReplyDeleteHABOTNless Prison for me tomorrow, so to be on the safe side...
HAPPY LEWIS COLBERT DAY!!!
ReplyDeleteT-minus 5 days til kickoff!!!
Lewis Colbert - Phenix City, AL; P 1982-85; 1st Team ALL-SEC and ALL-AMERICAN in 1985; led Auburn in punting all four years he was at Auburn, including a booming 45.8 yd avg in 1985. He has the 2nd longest punt in Auburn history, a 77 yarder vs SW Louisiana in 1985 (yes, he actually had to punt in that game!).
HONORABLE MENTIONS:
Karsten Bailey - Newnan, GA; WR 1995-98; 2nd all-time in career receptions with 150, trailing Courtney Taylor by 3; 3rd all-time in receiving yardage (trails Beasley & Goodson); 3rd all-time in TD receptions (Beasley & Obomanu).
Travaris Robinson - Miami, FL; DB 1999-2002; ALL-SEC in 2002 when he tied Carlos Rogers for team lead with 4 INTs
Joe Sullivan - Birmingham, AL; QB 1980-81; Pat's brother, Joe led Auburn in passing in '80 and '81 with a 2 year total of 1142 passing yards and 9 TD tosses. (pre)MrsTHT and I witnessed his first game as an AU quarterback. He led the Tigers to a 10-7 win over the TCU Horned Frogs in Fort Worth, TX on Saturday night, Sept 13, 1980.
Joe Frazier - Montgomery, AL; TB 1991-94; led Auburn in rushing as a freshman in 1991.
WARRRRRR EAGLE!!!
GO TIGERS!!!
Happy T-Rob day!!
ReplyDeleteI am not a Bengals fan, therefore we will never wear those stripped helmets. I can deal with a tweak in unies, but not those helmets not no way not no how. hmmmph
ReplyDeleteI will Boom It, Lewis! Boom It!
ReplyDeleteI will celebrate T-Rob Day!
I will recall Smokin' Joe, and Pat's Baby Brother.
I will not celebrate Karsten Bailey, except to know that "NO DROPS!" was meant for him.
SO PPL is wearing #6
ReplyDelete2nd all-time in career receptions ought to stand for something, no?
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, EZ
ReplyDeleteBob Saget = Joe Buck
ReplyDeleteI will email my reasons to you, THT.
ReplyDeleteLet's just say I have strong feelings. No reflection on your hard work and outstanding achievements in the countdown.
Sweet dreams full of AU Love and UA-T hate
ReplyDeleteWARRRRR EAGLE!!! See y'all tomorrow night sometime.
