I have a new attitude about this 2009 season. I will no longer worry about depth, injuries or inexperience. If you are on the field regardless if you were a 5* or a no star, I expect these fellas to "ball til they fall". That goes twice for these coaches. No Excuses, Play like a Champion!!
OK, since I just got online and I completely missed the Prattville discussion on the previous thread:
I never attended school in Prattville - but I was born there.
And any of you who did attend elementary school there between 1945 and the present, it's very likely you encountered one of my close kin. Also true if you ran afoul of the law between 1945 and 1970.
Good morning Hotties and happy birthday to Cincy. I spent many days playing in the woods around where you used to live. Good times.
J-Z - I awoke again WAY too early this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. Once again, I blame UAT for this and pretty much anything else I feel like.
OK, I'm confused. I went back and read the Game Notes. It states that Auburn leads the series 10-0-1. When it states the score of the last meeting, it has ULM. Has Auburn ever played La. Tech.?
The last meeting was in 2004 ... it was 52-7. It was the sandwich game between Tennessee and Arkansas. The defense broke La Tech star Ryan Motes' leg on the first play, and it was all downhill for La. Tech after that.
ElTurbo was in the 8th grade ... his school has a "shadowing" program where you go to work with someone and shadow them for the day.
ElTurbo shadowed then AU Director of Media Relations Meredith Jenkins, who was quite gracious.
i'm ready for AU to maul its first group of dawgs this year. it is going to be a long week at work, but knowing i'll be at the game saturday may be enough to get me through.
Happy 50th Cincy...the good news...the early 50's are like the late 40's.
It's game week. No more player decisions. Beat LaTech. We will be at the in-laws for a reunion in Mississippi. More good news: they get ESPNU.
The SPUAT HATE level has ticked up a couple of notches. Another Bammer has moved into the neighborhood. He is a Californian, likes CFB and "picked" Bama as his team. He just moved East for the first time and is already waving Bammer flags and being arrogant to his neighbors. He has never even been to the state of Alabama. Not your prototypical Bammer..except for the arrogance...why?
The Bammerham News rates the LaTech game as the 5th toughest on our schedule. So playing LaTech at home is a tougher game than at ARK or TN? Seems unlikely to me.
I do remember watching a game in the Pat Dye era when LaTech took a 14-13 4th Q lead, only to see us kick a field goal on the last play to beat them. Also remember an overtime game with them during Tubs tenure.
Most difficult or not, its for sure the most important one right now.
It should be a nice day for football come Saturday. Everything I see also suggests that it will be in the low 80's and sunny on Saturday on the Plains. Can't wait to get down there.
I was there in 2001 hoping for a nice peaceful day in the park instead I felt like I had been beat to a pulp. I remember feeling like we were so out of sync and flat. It was an ugly win but we finally pulled it out of our rear!
We may not be a finely tuned machine Saturday but I KNOW we won't be flat. Here's looking forward to a great day on the Plains!
i have a couple that retired from CA and moved next door to me in TN. they found out how big into AU i was and they went out and bought a USC flag (from a store in TN) just to put outside to get me riled up.
?????
must be a west coast thing. and they really even aren't big into USC. they're just being punks.
I wish y'all could have all been at my surprise party. It was an Auburn party, all orange & blue decorations, cake, balloons, etc. Everyone wore Auburn stuff except one bammer. She couldn't bring herself to wear orange and blue, so she wore turquoise and peach. At least she tried and didn't wear red.
Thanks for the video and hard work, Jay. I can't imagine playing in a college football game. I would probably just walk out on the field, pee myself, say thank you very much, and run to the locker room. Heck, I am terribly nervous just setting in my living room waiting for the season to begin.
Y'all hating on Cali this morning. We all aren't that bad. Although I have been here so long I guess I don't count. But a facebook quiz said I was native Californian still so it must be true. ;-)
2001 we started out fast and got a big lead then Tub sit on the lead in the 2nd half and when we did pass the ball, it seemed every time Cobb was throwing it to them.
LaTech had a good QB in Luke McCown, who is still in the NFL today.
Sean.....have to admit I'll take a sip of Diet Cheerwine every now and then....kinda like a fake cherry coke.
Coke Zero is my favorite product on the soft drink market today...the closest to'the real thing' with no real sugar. They will NEVER top the nickel cokes in the little green bottles with the real syrup in them. Too good for words! And the bonus of the city name on the bottom!!!!!
War Eagle and good morning to everyone! Thanks for the substance and sustenance in the off season Jay G. I am ready for Saturday, this will be a long week.
Love Peach Nehi, and had a friend that would make trips back to her home in NC just to pick up Cheerwine. Well and visit her family, too, but the main purpose was cheerwine
substance abuse

My roots run deep in DaVille.

ReplyDeleteGame week is right
ReplyDeleteI missed the Prattville thread also. We lived there from 1994-1996, in Deer Creek.

ReplyDeleteHappy 50th Cincy! I went there last August and it does only get better.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Hotties and happy birthday to Cincy. I spent many days playing in the woods around where you used to live. Good times.
ReplyDeleteJ-Z - I awoke again WAY too early this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. Once again, I blame UAT for this and pretty much anything else I feel like.

OK, I'm confused. I went back and read the Game Notes. It states that Auburn leads the series 10-0-1. When it states the score of the last meeting, it has ULM. Has Auburn ever played La. Tech.?
ReplyDeleteLuv- Auburn has played La Tech several times over the last few years. I'm not sure when the last meeting was, but it couldn't have been that long ago.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Cincy!
ReplyDeleteBeat LaTech, Tigers!
Happy Birthday Cincy!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to "The Dirt Club"!
The last meeting was in 2004 ... it was 52-7. It was the sandwich game between Tennessee and Arkansas. The defense broke La Tech star Ryan Motes' leg on the first play, and it was all downhill for La. Tech after that.

ReplyDeleteI love making Luv laugh!
So, that was typo. Seems a tad unprofessional to not double check for typos - esp. one of that magnitude.
ReplyDeletei'm ready for AU to maul its first group of dawgs this year. it is going to be a long week at work, but knowing i'll be at the game saturday may be enough to get me through.
ReplyDeletehappy b-day Cincy. and many more to come.
ReplyDeleteweagles! i can't help but luv my man Kodi. i hope JHS is a pretty special place to witness a la tech butt whoopin' saturday nite.
btw, about what time is the sun setting down in alabama right now? just curious when the sun will duck behind the west deck. thanks.
luv doing some early morning hating on the SID's office.
ReplyDeleteNorm, how the heck do you know that?
Scottie, according to weather.com, sunset is at 7:01 p.m. on Saturday.
ReplyDeletePF - how do I know what?
ReplyDeleteWhat up people?! I sure hope this weather vacates by Saturday.
ReplyDeletewhat weather? weather.com has it as 83 and partly cloudy in auburn on saturday?

ReplyDeleteGood morning, Hotties!!! It is a beautiful day. Thanks for all the birthday wishes.
ReplyDeleteI am drinking coffee out of my new mug that says, "YES.... I am a woman. I know the game. I watch ESPN"
And I am feeling the heat on HABOTN!
Life is good.
Talkin bout this Rainy Monday, didn't that Carpenters chic right a song about something like that?
ReplyDeleteCincy, my mom has a mug and a t-shirt with those exact words. You'd be hard pressed to find a more rowdy fan than her at LP Field on Sundays.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling it's going to be warmer than that. Local station says 86 here in Bham and it's always warmer down on the Plains.
ReplyDeleteHappy 50th Cincy...the good news...the early 50's are like the late 40's.

nevermind, Norm...Jet's new identity threw me off...
ReplyDeleteJet, how do you know that?
It should be a nice day for football come Saturday. Everything I see also suggests that it will be in the low 80's and sunny on Saturday on the Plains. Can't wait to get down there.
ReplyDeleteAh...La Tech!

War Eagle!
You would think that a dude from Cali would hang up the USC banners and then at least have reason to be obnoxious. He really is a typical Bammer.
ReplyDeletehad my first Bammer issue on facebook yesterday...hate. bammer.
ReplyDeletei have a couple that retired from CA and moved next door to me in TN. they found out how big into AU i was and they went out and bought a USC flag (from a store in TN) just to put outside to get me riled up.
ReplyDelete?????
must be a west coast thing. and they really even aren't big into USC. they're just being punks.

ReplyDeleteWho is our coke man? Sorry, can't remember.
ReplyDelete6 foot 212 pound kid played in the Little League world series??? Sounds like another Danny Almonte, to me. Way to go, USA, though.
ReplyDeletecincy if you have any leftover cake i'll be by saturday morning.
ReplyDelete;)
Coke man, meaning the guy in the employ of Coca-Cola? That's me. Coke man as in a dealer...well I have no idea what you're talking about then.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Coke Zero is the best thing to happen to soft drinks in the last 20 years...
ReplyDeletehuh, and i thought it was Cheerwine PF. silly me.
ReplyDeleteI think the whole ZERO line is great addition. There's few of them that I dont' like better than 'diet' versions of other drinks.
ReplyDeletemissinit,
ReplyDeleteI remember that 2001 game very well. It was the week following the upset of # 1 Florida.
If I remember correctly we lead 31-13 at the half and then we shut down the offense and ended up having to win in OT.
It's official - this has been the longest offseason EVER.
ReplyDeleteScottie, I know a guy that LOVES Cheerwine...I don't know how you guys drink that swill.
ReplyDeleteHappy Joe Frazier day everyone!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a long one when your team sucked the year before and you don't have much ammunition for the rival fans.
ReplyDeleteCheerwine - 1917. Not last 20 years...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the video and hard work, Jay. I can't imagine playing in a college football game. I would probably just walk out on the field, pee myself, say thank you very much, and run to the locker room. Heck, I am terribly nervous just setting in my living room waiting for the season to begin.
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of Cheerwine, so I had to Google it.
ReplyDeleteI think it's rubbish, Luv. Some peeps love it. To each their own.
ReplyDeleteCincy, did you have a question or comment Re: Coke?
Heck RK, now you got me wondering......it might have even been the 14-13 game I remember...when you get older time eludes you.
ReplyDeleteWhichever...I'm sure the feeling was the same. I do not want to feel that way again!
I want to:
Kick 'em in the butt Big Blue!
Y'all hating on Cali this morning. We all aren't that bad. Although I have been here so long I guess I don't count. But a facebook quiz said I was native Californian still so it must be true. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove your mug, Cincy!
"Salsa Boy" College Gameday commercial would be hillariously funny if it didn't feature that evil man.
ReplyDelete2001 we started out fast and got a big lead then Tub sit on the lead in the 2nd half and when we did pass the ball, it seemed every time Cobb was throwing it to them.
ReplyDeleteLaTech had a good QB in Luke McCown, who is still in the NFL today.
How do I know what, Snacks?
ReplyDeletegot a big lead then Tub sit on the lead in the 2nd half
ReplyDeletetypical Tuberville...
Yup Tuberville going into the Tubershell...
ReplyDeleteIn his defense we did win most of those games, they just raised the blood pressure more than they should have.
I see a typo there, but all I did was copy and paste. I guess I should have edited!
ReplyDeleteSean.....have to admit I'll take a sip of Diet Cheerwine every now and then....kinda like a fake cherry coke.

War Eagle and good morning to everyone! Thanks for the substance and sustenance in the off season Jay G. I am ready for Saturday, this will be a long week.
ReplyDeletesorry PF. Cheerwine is so bad it has only been around for 90 years or so. ha. so not i the past 20 years.
ReplyDeletethere's a little sandwich place near my work that has it and i just got hooked on it a couple months back. that and Peach Nehi. yummy.
anyone have opinions on Practicegate?
ReplyDeleteIf any of it is true...Rich Rod will need to be moved into the Witness Protection Program.
ReplyDeleteIt is just too bad he turned down the Mullets and didn't take his illegalities there.
ReplyDeleteisn't Luke McCown a backup to that loser from Marshall with the baseball windup?
ReplyDeletePeach Nehi....yuck!
ReplyDeleteCrap...I just saw the salsaboy commercial and now have to admit to thinking something with Nick Saban was interntionally funny.
ReplyDelete*intentionally
ReplyDeleteGooooooooood Morning HABOTN!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Cincy!
Boom it Lewis! and happy t-rob and all those other #5's.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO FOOTBALL!!!

ReplyDeleteyup. it's coming.
ReplyDeletesponsored by momslikeme.com ???
ReplyDeleteKristina, you don't have to.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen or heard of this commercial.
you've heard of it. it's been mentioned twice today :-)
ReplyDeleteJay G's teasing up by disabling autoplay and not immediately posting a new thread.
Love Peach Nehi, and had a friend that would make trips back to her home in NC just to pick up Cheerwine. Well and visit her family, too, but the main purpose was cheerwine
ReplyDeleteMr JGTate is very sneaky
ReplyDeleteOk, PF, until today. :-)
ReplyDeletePF is not waiting on everybody in the new thread......
ReplyDelete
