  1. Very good video Jay. Thanks for the long hours.

Ted Roof, a man of few words.

Kodi seems happy enough. I am beginning to wonder if Malzahn is hoping he can correct some of Kodi's issues on the side after practice and have him as an option as a backup to Todd.

From what I have read, Eltoro is a guy that loves football, whether it is practice or games. He must really be hurting to not be out there. This injury is the worst we have seen so far, which is incredible at this point.

I do think Jay is right. We could expect big things from this team if it had depth. Bates progressing as quickly as he is is a very good sign. One of my hopes early was that a DB or two could switch to LB. While I think we are okay at DB, we don't have any extras because of the attrition.

  2. Is Coach Chizik wearing a gold chain? What's up with that? I thought that was off limits.

  3. Kudos on the Office Space reference Jay. I'd like to think the world is a better place because of it. Or am I jumping to...conclusions? Ok, I'll stop now.

I see he posted who we are honoring today on the last post.

Reggie Slack was way before my time here AL, but I do know Jason Campbell. He definitely embodied (and still does) the true Auburn spirit.

  8. R. Slack would get my vote. VERY under appreciated during his time at Auburn IMHO.

Why can't I get the words "5 & 19 is not what we need" out of my head?

  12. Sensi,

Wins heal all wounds. Maybe you'll have the words "9 & 3" or "8 & 4" in your head after this year.

  13. I have some anger issues this morning, checking my home email as I started work this morning, I find out someone has hacked my paypal account. They resolved it quickly, but nothing like being violated in your sleep.

    RK,

The only way 8 or 9 wins happens is if many, many bad things happen to other teams in front of Auburn.

We won with the previous administration and we still felt uneasy because every win got uglier for four years.

  15. Hey, my brother shared this link with me last night. It's a very good read about the firing of Fulmer and the hiring of Kiffen, a kind of behind the scenes look at it.

  16. Sensi,

I'm generally not an optimist, but I can see this team being a lot like the 2000 team that surprised people by winning 9 games. We have to stay healthy, but if we can do that I think we have the talent to compete.

I see Ole Miss as being greatly overrated and Arkansas' D as being something we can put points on the board against. I think those two games can be wins that we aren't really expecting.

  17. Auburn - La Tech Line is out and we are 13 point favorites right now. I find that interesting.

I completely agree, WERK. Staying healthy is the key this year.

  19. Eddie,

My favorite line in the whole article is:

    "Who would be so dumb?"

    Apparently Lane Kiffin.

I find it funny that Hamilton apparently talked to Turner Gill, but UT didn't catch any heat for not hiring him.

    ReplyDelete
  20. RK- I thought the same thing. It is crazy that he would have done that, but hell, that's kiffen.

If we stay healthy, we will win more games than we lose. If things go our way on the injury front, we will be a good team that is competitive in every game. Will we win 8 or 9 games, maybe, but it won't be easy. I do think this team can be more competitve than most think, but I also see things thru orange and blue glasses, so I always take that into consideration.

  21. This is how I look at the schedule:

    Expected Wins:
    La. Tech
    Miss. State
    Ball State
    Kentucky
    Furman

    Expected Losses:
    LSU

    In Play:
    WVU
    Arkansas
    Tennessee
    Ole Miss
    Georgia
    Alabama

  22. I'll agree with that Jet. That is the way I feel also.

So Freeman has a hamstring injury and Darren Bates could start at safety. We need Freeman to get healthy and quickly. That injury is the one that scares me the most.

  23. OK, Jay G.

    Who got the stare down?

Who gave it? Was it accompanied by the chiseled chin of Chiz? Was it shaded by the shades of Luper? Did the recipient hear banjo music while being stared down by Lolley? Or did Trooper laser down a hack? Or did the hack wonder if he/she was going to be reduced to a mess of chicken wings by Rocker?

    Inquiring minds.

  24. Jet, a writer asked Coach Roof about Goggan's play inside versus his play outside. that prompted the blank stare.

    "if we can stay healthy"?

We ain't healthy now! What on earth would make y'all think we could "stay" healthy? We can't even GET healthy.

Good morning Hotties!! From Oops world this morning.

An NCAA representative is in Knoxville investigating whether the amateur status of Tennessee freshman running back Bryce Brown has been violated, which could potentially make him ineligible.

  29. I marked three loses from the the "in play" column. Maybe Auburn is better than I thought and those teams are in more trouble than I though, but I don't see us as in the same league right now. I hope I'm wrong. I am already tormented over this coming season. That's not good.

  40. I've been re-watching the highlight video of the 2004 season. I've made it through the TN game. That was an awesome game - over 500 yds offense, 6 turnovers, held TN to 293 yds offense when their average was over 500 per game.

As I'm watching, all of a sudden Chizik comes on the screen talking about the defense. I knew he was our coach, but I guess I had forgotten it was this season. It was a surprise to see him.

Here's a little something to get you pumped up this morning:

  41. I had forgotten what a great day Courtney Taylor had in this game. He was fun to watch.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Courtney Taylor had a play early in the game that helped us keep the momentum going where he ripped a sure interception out of a UT defenders hand and ran it about 15 more yards down the field.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Why on earth did Saban get so upset about the media speculating about the line up of his football team? That's goofy.

    ReplyDelete
  44. RK, wasn't it our first play from scrimmage? Can't remember.

You know, Carnell had a similar play in the LSU game, taking the ball from Corey Webster.

Where do those games go when you don't get plays like that?

UAT last year getting Clemson's fumble on the first play?

    Momentum is an interesting thing.

  45. Because Saban is an @$$hat, mond

  46. Oh yeah. Thanks, Michael.
That's why YOU'RE the Thigh Master.

Cincy, thanks for the video! I'm sure I watched that game, but I have NO memory, so I don't remember it. What an AUsome highlight video!

  49. If Saban is an @$$hat, what kind of @$$hat is he?

    a. A John Deere @$$hat.
    b. A Git-R-Done @$$hat.
    c. A houndstooth @$$hat.
    d. Other _______________

  50. Is Thigh Master like Aerosmith's "Lord Of The Thighs"?

    ReplyDelete
  51. No problem, mond. The Thigh Master always has the answers.

That UT game was awesome. Me and two of my AU buddies had tickets in the UT section. People were heckling us prior to the game. That did not last long.

  52. Anonymous9:23 AM

From where did the term @$$hat come, anyway? I've never heard before.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I vote d.

I'm going with John Wayne Gacy @$$hat.

  55. Michael,

I was in the UT section for that game as well. It got pretty lonely in that stadium after the 1st half.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Epiphany!

I've figured it out! I've figured out who Saban reminds me of! It's taken me nearly 10 years to figure this out.

    Saban reminds me of ...

Brad Wesley, the twisted small-town thug of the 1989 cinematic masterpiece, "Road House."

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous9:34 AM

Mon....$aban goes off on the reporters at least once each season for either asking him about or speculating about his depth chart. He completely lambasted Ian Rappaport last August.

You know...it's kinda like mistakenly askin' the Thigh Master about his bidness.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I take offense to that statement. I am only a moderate creep. Saban is @$$hat ultimoto.

    ReplyDelete
  59. ahhhh I get it.

Saban is the shepherd and his players are his sheep!

    Thanks, Hoopie.
