Auburn adds a significant commitment
Hey everyone. Our friend Jeffrey Lee from AuburnSports.com is reporting that LB LaDarius Owens, of Jess Lanier High fame, has verbally committed to the Tigers.
Rivals.com rates him as the nation's No. 7 LB prospect and the No. 3 overall prospect in the state. Owens, the nephew of former Auburn standout James Owens, has scholarship offers from most (all?) Southeastern Conference schools.
He's a high-impact recruit and someone who may provide immediate assistance next fall.

VOILA!! THE NEW PAGE SMELL!
LUV - I don't know where Harrison/Will/shesaid are. I'll see what I can do for the Stars whose location I know.
I just wanted you to turn the page.
THT,
I'm really glad we made it through the countdown and that Auburn football is finally here, but I miss waking up every morning to see who the player is for the day. Great job getting us to the season!
DVR is great!
sup AU1?
How goes it!! Eating some Biscuits and Gravy I just made.
Hi Cincy - Tyler's room near the X parking lot?
I gave the S parking lot passes for the rest of the season to an elderly couple from Huntsville we met on College Street on Saturday.
I can make biscuits, but I'll have to settle for McCutcheon's Apple Butter instead of gravy.
Yeah, it's not an everyday meal for sure.
Apple butter is fantastic and it is that time of year.
AU1 - McCutcheon's is near you. I'm sure you can find their apple butter in a local grocery store.
McCutcheon's
I have actually had it...and it is gooood!!
well, you've talked me into making some biscuits so I can have some, too!
So a new recruit..which is great.
I think things are starting to come together slowly....I at least like to see that the light at the end of the tunnel is not an oncoming train.
Good Morning Hot-n-tots! I watched the game again last night and it was almost as good as the first time. Does anyone notice that Tate usually fumbles a few times at the beginning of the season? I wonder what the punishment for Tate, Adams and Fannin will be?
I was wondering that very thing (the punishment) last night BigCat. WAR EAGLE and great morning to you!
Mornin' Cat....I would say either running or pushups and a lot of it.
Good Morning Hotties!!!
Click, click, click.....for the most part, especially for a first game, we had it together.
Thank you coaches for not disappointing us and having this team prepared. That is the thing that impressed me most. WE WERE PREPARED!
I believe in Auburn and love it!
Oh, and I hope all are enjoying a lazy Labor Day!
Don't we have some HABOTN "pledges" that could come mow my yard?
JET - thanks for that great tribute to Jim Fyffe for game day.
Now go mow the grass.
THT,
You are such a sweetheart. I know they will love having the parking passes. Do you ever meet a stranger?
Yes, Tyler is very near X. He is on West Glenn.
Big story up here about 2 weeks ago was Duke's goal of a bowl game. I think that's going to be a bit more difficult to achieve after losing their opener to I-AA Richmond. And how about Bill and Mary beating UVA!?!?
Jet - If you find them, let me know, I need cars washed.

that didn't sound quite right. MrsTHT is the "people" person or, as 2.0 says, my functional half. Without her, I probably wouldn't meet hardly anyone.
Mrs. THT is delightful, I must say.
finally finished watching the game for the 1st time. so nice to have monday off. :)
Ciao tutti
I agree that MrsTHT was delightful, Kristina. But, THT, I think you're smart to go to the wedding. She may be a tiny thing, but I think she could take you if you got on her bad side. :)
Kristina - that was sort of my thought when she walked into physics class back in January 1977. She had a UNC t-shirt on, so I made it a point to wear my UNC toboggan cap from that point on. She finally noticed!
Hi 2.0,
Several of us met your parents this weekend. You did good in the parents department!
2.0!!! How was class today!!!
yes Cincy- MrsTHT vs Andre the Giant in a cage match? I'd put my money on MrsTHT. She won't fight fair, she'll just fight to win.
for those who care, class was good.

Just watched the Auburn Review (with Tommy Tuberville according to the TV guide). It was a great post game. The interview that Q had with Coach Rocker was very interesting. His two favorite things as an Auburn player was Tiger Walk and playing Alabama. The clip they had with CGC at Tiger Walk really got to me. That man was excited. They had some really good player clips too.The players gave the game ball to Chizik. It's a good watch if you get a chance.
Auburn -14.5 over Miss St.
I would be glad to mow for you Jet but evidently I didn't make the cut. Oh well, I go out for rush again next year.
Anyway, the grass would be tall as trees before I could get there cause I'm way over here in east Jawja
What time is the has-been bowl today?
Good morning Hotties
Have you ever just been reading and reading then post something on an old thread. I did it AGAIN
Repeat
Just got to say it one more time
I ADMIRE KODI BURNS.
Not only did he stand up and say what he said. But after watching the re-run it is obvious he worked his tail off to contribute to this team. He did both with his play and great enthusiasm. What a great guy and player.
THT,
In Duke's defense Richmond is the defending national champs at their level.
Ditto Digger. Kodi is my player of the year! He is a true Auburn man.
DO they still play football bowl
7:00 CDT
We are all excided and should be with all of the positives, but as Chizik said we have a lot of areas that must be improved.
If we can keep injuries down and continue to improve, as I am sure we will with this staff, we have a chance to be a really good team. I say we because I play Left Out on the defensive line.
cincy has email
ACC was 4-6 against non-conf foes, including losses to Bill & Mary and Richmond. They should just stick to basketball.
Back at ya, THT
Saw this stat comparison from 1st game 2008 & 2009. Apparently some so-called sportscasters are saying that "AU put up VERY similar numbers in the opener last year versus La-Monroe, so not to read much into this game." There's no comparison to these two games:
2008 vs. LA Monroe:
19 first downs
406 total yards
85 passing yards
321 rushing yards
2 offensive touchdowns (1 was a punt return, 1 was a defensive TD)
2009 vs. LA Tech:
27 first downs
556 total yards
255 passing yards
301 rushing yards
4 offensive touchdowns
Kathy,
I have heard several people say the two games were similar. I certainly didn't have the same feeling leaving those two games.
I mentioned this on a previous thread because Sensi was fired up about lack of respect Nationally.
I was watching ESPNU the other morning and they were discussing the 3 new SEC coaches and their victories and which one meant the most.
Auburn and Chizik was decided as the most important because of the fact that La Tech was not a cakewalk of a game. They are a good team and Auburn was prepared. Chizik's victory, meant the most.
no comparison at all. La-Monroe much weaker than La Tech. Our offense much more balanced and productive. Not even close!
Kathy - To me, those numbers are not similar. But hey, I am on my couch blogging not a sports head.
I think if AU avoids the injury bug, they are going to surprise A LOT of people, one game at a time. This is a well-coached team, and there is NO comparison to the two first games of season 2008 and 2009. I was very excited leaving the game last week and can not wait to get back to Auburn on Saturday. WDE!!!
Kathy - Shhhhhh!! We want to fly under the radar. UGA was to be the surprise team and they have fizzled.
Oh and Chris Low did have something positive about his players of the week.
FRESHMAN
Onterio McCalebb, RB, Auburn: Rushed for 148 yards on 22 carries with one touchdown in the Tigers’ 37-13 win over Louisiana Tech. The 148 yards are the most ever by an Auburn freshman in a season opening game. The previous best was 123 yards by Bo Jackson in 1982.
THT, I eat my extra tickets before I let a fan from the opposing team buy them! I had 2 extra for this game which just meant my sister and I had more room to enjoy the game. My kids know if we invite anyone to the game, they are an Auburn fan for the day. I very seldom sell any of my extra tickets, but when I do, I know they are Auburn fans. I wouldn't do that to the folks around me, or to Auburn!
The only comparison I made to last year was early in the game we seemed to stall once we got to the redzone. That seemed like deja-vu for a second.
However after the La Monroe game last year I felt like it was going to be a long season because we didn't do anything impressive at all.
I felt completely different after the game over the weekend. Anyone who watched both games can see the difference.
O Mc was Tiger of the Week on the Auburn Preview.
O Mc was Tiger of the Week on the Auburn "Review."

Most of those TV folks were probably in Atlanta and didn't SEE AU play. They just looked at the stats, which we know is incompetent sportscasting! We are fortunate to have JGT give us the straight talk.
