Heisman predictions

I am voting in the AP Football Poll this fall. One of my fellow voters, Bob Asmussen of the Champaign (Ill.) News-Gazette, recently polled voters about their view of the Heisman Trophy "race."

A little more than half the voters responded. We were asked to pick five players. Each top pick received five points, the No. 2 pick received four points ... and so on.

I voted Tebow-Bradford-McCoy-Snead-Griffin.

Here are the results:

PLAYER, SCHOOL, VOTES (1st)

Tim Tebow, Florida 155 (23)

Sam Bradford, Oklahoma 131.5 (7)

Colt McCoy, Texas 130.5 (5)

Jevan Snead, Mississippi 36.5

Zac Robinson, Oklahoma State 16

Todd Reesing, Kansas 11

Dan LeFevour, Central Michigan 10

Max Hall, BYU 9

Colin Kaepernick, Nevada 5

Terrelle Pryor, Ohio State 4

Daryll Clark, Penn State 3

Robert Griffin, Baylor 3

Juice Williams, Illinois 3

Case Keenum, Houston 2

Kellen Moore, Boise State 2

Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame 1

Jeremiah Masoli, Oregon 1

Rusty Smith, Florida Atlantic 1

Matt Grothe, South Florida 1/2

  6. So JHarris with UAT is now connected in some dealings with the old man that Jones and Ingrams had and the UAT fans are blaming AU for it. They are saying the guy has a business partner with ties to AU and that he is setting them up to bring the program down.

How low do you have to go to get make that kind of conpsiracy work?

  7. WTC ...

It's got nothin' to do with football ... I mean, it's Auburn. Yeah, that's it.

    ReplyDelete
  8. wtc, so this Auburn "fan" is supposedly going around giving out fishing trips and laptop computers to Bama players in an attempt to corrupt the Evil Empire?

That seems to be quite a stretch doesn't it?

  9. Something is messed up, either on my puter or somewhere on the interwebgores. As if the 13 hour time difference was not brutal enough for me...

Eddie: your blog has a countdown to kickoff, and for me it says 1 day remaining (19 hours, 32 minutes).

Rivals says 1 day and 23 hours remaining.

Auburntigers.com football page says NaN days and NaN hours remaining.

    Someone send me a calender?

  10. How exactly did Grothe get 1/2 of a vote?

  11. Aero,
I can't figure out why your AU page says NaN. Mine says days, hours, minutes

  12. Aero, I checked the coutdown clock after you made a similiar reference the other day.

    It's working fine for me.

  17. Gators haven't returned KO for TD since 10 years ago vs LSwho. That probably goes in the FUI (file of useless information)

  18. Paul Rhoads's head coaching debut is not on TV tonight?!?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  19. also not on TV tonight is that annual backyard brawl between Dixie State Red Storm & Southern Utah Thunderbirds. Bummer.

  20. There is a Tiger Talk tonight, yes.

  21. I'm sure no one cares that I was lying about the DS @ SUU game being an "annual" backyard brawl. They haven't played since the early 60s. Something about one school wanting yank refs, the other wanting a different per diem rate.

I would like to see Colt McCoy win it. It think he deserved it last year. Eric Berry is incredible, if he played for ND he would be in the hunt.

The guy that has the best combination of gaudy stats and exposure will win. I think that it is supposed to be a most valuable player award. If that means value accrued to the NCAA, then whomever brings in the most $$$ should win. It's too earlty anyway.

  30. If I remember seeing correctly, the tiger eyes are gone from the south exterior of the stadium as well.

  31. Got the grass cut and Steak Out ordered before kickoff. I guess it's too late to vote. That's what I get for procrastinating.

    ReplyDelete
  32. oops, it's on FS South, not VS. I lost track of where I'd channel surfed.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Kathy - I don't think it's too late; no Thursday games in the Pick 'em.

  35. Ha DMiller....

that's what my name is all about. I chose it because I am missing it. 35 years later I still miss my days at Auburn. Crap...who am I kidding, I miss everything about being young.

  37. Sorry I missed the campfire. I'll probably miss tonight too. No intranets at the house. I think I'm going to correct that next week though. Does Direct TV offer any kind of internet service?

Evening all....I think I have discovered what it feels like to be a crack addict.

At work today, all of a sudden, without warning, my access to the HABOTN was denied.

I was stunned, mortified, even confused as to why. I am working from home tomorrow but am worried what the future brings.

  51. So Jay, do voters take into consideration prior seasons? The Heisman is a joke. Every year should be a clean slate. That's what is wrong with all football polls nowadays.
