  6. is it just me, or do the players seem confident? it is beginning to seem that they were too preoccupied at times trying to please the previous coaching staff rather than doing what needed to be done on the field. they were worried that if they screwed up once they would get yanked. remember, kenny irons couldn't block worth a crap...he was only the best RB on the team.

OM seems like a mini cadillac (think XLR-V).

  8. Rutgers and Iowa have got to come off...

Cincinatti and Missouri deserve spots. I think FSU stays up there, too, but I don't know who else drops off to fit them, so maybe they don't get back until next week.

  9. Adam Herring looks like and speaks like a high school coach... just me..

    Good morning, Hotties! It's Tuesday!

  11. Leader,

Herring is the son of a coach, so he probably just picked it up at home.

  12. It has been a long time since I have seen Auburn players so happy just to be playing. This team has great chemistry going on. I don't have expectation of a west title, but I do believe think this team is going to upset someone.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Seems like everyone is in great spirits over the win!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Good morning Hot Ones!! Dont you just love short work weeks before a game??

    ReplyDelete
  15. Don't you love how yesterday felt like a Sunday, and Chik-Fil-A was... open?!?!

  16. Good morning to the Hotties! My in-law peeps are gone, so I can play on the computer again.

I still think that the success of our season will be determined by the first 4 games - we have to win all 4 to have a really good year. If we win all 4, we'll go to TN with a national ranking, a boatload of confidence, and a great chance to win the game. Lose just one of those and we are fighting to become bowl eligible.

Jay, assuming AU continues to win, at what point would you rank us on your ballot? By the way, great reports and video.

  17. Matt,

I took advantage of the free chicken at Chik-Fil-A yesterday.

  19. Good morning Hotties,

I will be doing weekend work from two offices and today's work from two offices today. I think it's UA-T's fault, so I'm hating them extra good today. Y'all have a marvelous Tuesday.

Mr. Tate, I regret that I will be rectangular.

    ReplyDelete
  20. A girl working at the Chik-Fil-A in Chattanooga for the wear your favorite team thing they were doing had a Chris Todd jersey on. I didn't even know they made Todd jerseys.

    ReplyDelete
  21. MOrning hotties! I start back to Bible study today - long day of training. So, Jay, I also will be rectangular. Look forward to catching up on all this afternoon. Have an AUsome day!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Train well, Cincy.

Pray for me brethren. I must enter the Gates of Hell. I leave the Gump at 4 this afternoon, forced to drive through the 90 mile trailer park to Hades.

    ReplyDelete
  23. "Don't you love how yesterday felt like a Sunday, and Chik-Fil-A was... open?!?!" funny stuff, Matt

  25. Wow, life is so good right now. My thoughts about the upcoming football season: stay healthy!! Like Steve I don't think we're in contention for a west title (from what I understand the unmentionables looked very strong as their game went on) but the whole team's attitude is right on, and they seemed very focused, and yeah happy to be playing football. That and great coaching makes for a fun season.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Monica, Re: Chick-Fil-A: I couldn't have said it better myself AND they were giving out free Chikin. Not to mention stores didn't close at six and I was able to sleep in as late as I wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  27. re AU players: They're very confident and relaxed. I haven't seen that from them in a while.

re AP Top 25: I agree that Rutgers needs to come off the ballot. I will add Cincinnati to replace Rutgers. Your other arguments were not sufficiently persuasive.

FSU wasn't on my ballot before and won't be now. Notre Dame wasn't on my ballot before and they're lucky to be at 25 right now.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Confident and relaxed is a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Here's my official ballot:

  30. If you're interested (and this may come into play if Auburn opens 3-0 or 4-0), here is where all AP votes are recorded:

    AP Top 25 Voter Information

    ReplyDelete
  31. the FSU/Miami game last nite was fantastic. i was hoping the Noles would pull it out, though.

    ReplyDelete
  32. that's cool JG. i've never seen a voter list like that.

what's the rule on voting in each state, doesn't it rotate every year or several years?

    ReplyDelete
  33. I was happy for Miami.

I've always liked Miami and their situation at quarterback looked like it would really suck. Then this "J. Harris" cat went off last night and the Hurricanes look good again.

    ReplyDelete
  34. In Alabama, we rotate the two ballots.

    I last voted in 2005.

    ReplyDelete
  35. i was REALLY surprised on Jacory's play last nite. i wasn't impressed early. it looked like he kept jumping when he threw or throwing off his back foot. he was a stud in the 2nd half, though.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ohio State # 7?

What did you have them ranked before they almost got shot down by Navy?

    ReplyDelete
  37. SIAP...you can go back and watch all of the SEC games from this past weekend right here for free....

    SEC Games

    ReplyDelete
  38. I didn't realize until 1 a.m. that the Fortson playing for FSU was the Fortson who committed to Auburn once upon a time. How about that?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Harris made a really really nice throw to get them down to the 2 yard line to set up the winning TD last night.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I had Ohio State at 7 in the preseason.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't think you penalize Ohio State, also considering OU lost and dropped out of the top ten, you also don't move Ohio State up. We find out who's the real deal this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  42. For all interested, Carnell "Cadillac" Williams has regained the starting job for Tampa Bay.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Navy is a good team and they are tough to defend, but it seems Ohio State is the master of just getting by.

I guess that does say something though.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Here's to Carnell having an injury free rest of his career.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Whet tiem will the polls be released?

    ReplyDelete
  46. RK, that throw Jacory made to get them to the 2 was fantastic. the dude barely got his foot down. spectacular play.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Lunchtime usually I think

    ReplyDelete
  48. Not a bad ballot, but a couple of question marks to me, Georgia at #18 over Georgia Tech? This team has Auburn 2008 written all over them. Also, Iowa continues to be the most overrated team with definitely the most over-rated and over-paid coach of all time, but I know that they can improve on that showing. My biggest question is Georgia in general, I think they are a .500 team at best. Voting publicly sucks, but i'm glad that the AP voters are known unlike the scared coaches.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I had UGA at 13 in the preseason poll.

I think a five-point drop is reasonable given they lost on the road (and played pretty well) against a very good, top-10 team.

    ReplyDelete
  50. AP says the new poll will drop "in the afternoon."

    ReplyDelete
  51. Who returns kickoff's for us?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Jay,
Do you vote for the teams based on how they played, or on how good(or not-so-good) you think they really are?

    ReplyDelete
  53. FAH returned one in the 2nd half i recall.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thanks. I agree with Eddie...and Jay G. I think they started out a tad overrated and will eventually drop out of the top 25.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Fannin is one of the kick-returners.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The polls usually shake out in the first 3-4 weeks. Remember how we were in the top ten at this time last year?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Fortson is turning out to be a pretty good WR. I hate we missed out on him. I'm hoping Shaun Kitchens (WR commit) will be just as good since their measurables are about the same.

Miami/FSU was much better than I thought. I was pulling for Miami. That QB has ice water in his veins. He showed absolutely no emotion even on the last play of the game.

I think we go 4-0. But I want our LBs and CBs to really hit people. I mean solid, straight up, stop you in your tracks and push you backwards type hitting. Especially when they are one on one.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Jay G- That makes sense if you had them at #13, I can buy that. No love for Georgia Tech who returned a lot more players than Georgia and beat Georgia on the road?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Since it will be one of the two most hyped games this week, what are opinions on USC/OSU? I think its a toss up.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I think USC wins. From the 800 times I saw it on ESPN, I know they have a true freshman QB. However, I think their D is good enough to overcome any freshman mistakes Barkley makes.

    I'll say USC 28 OSU 20.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I like USC also, they just have confidence, more so than OSU. Pete Carrol does a really good job of getting his team up for the big games, and I think this will be no exception. I like the USC winning by 10+.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'll play devil's advocate and take tOSU @ home. Tough game to win when an tOSU defense stacks the box and makes the frosh QB make tough throws.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Speaking of hype, what about the "Why in the hell did we hire this guy Bowl", Michigan vs Notre Dame?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Is it Friday yet?

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think the tide has turned for RichRod @ Mich.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Monring HOTTIES!!!! Nice to come on board after a WIN!!!I'm lovn it!

Thought for today: Remember if you can't be big and strong be FAH!!!

"I'm coming at ya!" i love that quote!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'd take USC in a blowout. tOSU didnt look very good against Navy and Lou Holtz made a great point. You schedule Navy and that option offense as an opener and devote alot of those preseason practices to it. That time gets wasted cause you wont see an offense like that again and you cant really build on what you learned. Advantage USC.. as if they needed any more advantages.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Mobliz how about the commentary for the 93 yarder

"Todd!!...has a man open!!...Zachery!!....does he have the speed??.........Good Enough, Touchdown Auburn!!!"

That's my quote of the game.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Well, humor for the day, I see that Beavis & Butthead have returned. Love it.

  70. Am I the only one NOT doing much work this morning??

As proud as I was of our team and the way they handled themselves, I was just a proud of our fans! La Tech fans were too! Check this out:

  71. BigCat ...

When I got home from the game, I cranked up the DVR to see the play.

I preferred Brock Huard's rather understated color commentary on the play when he saw the defenders take the bait.

    "Uh oh."

    ReplyDelete
  72. Thankfully, the baldness gene that befell Adam Herring's dad leaped over him.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Thanks Jay G Tate I have bookmarked that AP voting info. Love it

So many good qoutes this weekend.

    Great Video

    People play Cornhole?

  74. AUfan: I vote for teams based on how good I think they are.

    ReplyDelete
  75. FSJ- That's about right for the first week.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Auburn got 13 and 4 votes. moving on up says

    ReplyDelete
  77. JGT,

In the AP poll what determines the number of votes that come out of a state. Noticed some states had 1 voter, some 2, some 3, etc.????

  79. Somehow I expected LSU to drop with such a suctacular performance, even if they won.

    ReplyDelete
  80. The AP has West Virginia ahead of Tennessee, which is a bit surprising.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I am not sure how Ole Nutt ended up 6th. I think I would have pushed them out of the top 10. They didn't look like a polished team. Their score ended up looking good, but how they got there wasn't pretty.

  82. New thread up, but we can't leave this one until...
