Supposedly Brown's passing is the best part about him. That is what worried me. I like Todzilla, but I didn't think we could win the game if it came down to the battle of the QBs.

War Frickin Eagle!!! What a heck of a game. This game will build confidence in this team. Even if we had lost, we played a heck of a game.

479 for them.

I know we need to do it to try to keep the D honest...but Todd never ever, never ever...and again I say never ever needs to run the ball.

Todd is banged up, he was riding the bike on the sidelines while the D was on the field.

Tell IV, they're playing Tiger Rag for him right now.

Guys, we had every reason to check out down 14-0.

And we didn't.

Hard to believe we were down 14-0 5 mins into the game.

Out of bounds at the 81 yard line.

We've started slow in every game. This time 14-0. We can't keep doing that.

Blogger WarEagleRK said...

D.Miller,

Despite the problems, the D won this game. 24 points off of turnovers.

They played a lot better starting in the 2nd quarter while the offense struggled to get any consistency.

11:23 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Actually, in the previos two games we started strong, but had bad second quarters. This game we did okay in the second, but had a rough first quarter.

11:23 PM
Blogger BigEZ said...

I guess the "THUD" practices might be over.

11:23 PM
Blogger Jet said...

No fussing here ... we climbed off the deck and won a big football game.

I'll let Chiz, Roof and Gus handle that tomorrow.

11:25 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

So, Sensi could have been right with his WV 35, AU 31 pick. Without the turnovers, that is about what it was looking like.

I was off too, picking AU 42, WV 24.

11:25 PM
Blogger Miller said...

I know the turnovers won the game for us... those were as much gifts as they were takeaways.... I'm talking about assignment D and fundamentals... This is the worst tackling AU defense I have seen in years.

11:25 PM
Blogger Wakeriderof87 said...

I dunno if we'll get in, there aren't many teams in top 25 that lost this week. I think we should but its not a guarantee

It doesn't matter either way, we will be in next week assuming we beat Ball St.

11:26 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

RK, you are right about that. We have been behind at one point in every game this season. Many teams would fold after being down 14-0. These kids believe in each other. I love what I am seeing from this team.

11:27 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

WV worried me. Ball State will not.

11:28 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Tackling is tomorrow morning's problem.

Tonight is for rejoicing that the couches have been saved, and that the West Virginians have been repelled and sent back to their shanties.

11:28 PM
Blogger Aeronaut said...

Auburn is the first SEC team that has beaten WVU in a very, very long time.

It's great to be an Auburn tiger.

11:29 PM
Blogger BigEZ said...

That's the main thing. Dare I say it? Last year we would have been done in the first quarter. There, I said it.

11:29 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

We had some terrible tackling in the first quarter that gave them a lot of momentum.

11:30 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

We have to work on the tackle issue the next 2 weeks, because UT has a good D and RB's that are hard to bring down.

11:30 PM
Blogger Norm said...

Not pretty at all. But, they played with heart start to finish. I loved it. Regardless of what they did to my heartburn.

Six turnovers (5 picks) changed the game. Or so you'll read in the Advertiser tomorrow.

I think we will be favored over both Tennessee and Arkansas now. That is far from what I thought at the start of the season. I was hoping we would win one of those.

I missed some of the second quarter. But I can't believe I missed this?

3rd and 8 at WVU 40 : Jarrett Brown sacked by Barrett Trotter for a loss of 12 yards to the WVirg 28.

11:35 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Jay, any word on injuries?

11:36 PM
Blogger BigEZ said...

I've seen plenty of other teams win ballgames the same way and it didn't bother them, also watched LSU win a NC with two losses, both SEC so for whatever that's worth.

11:36 PM
Blogger Jet said...

We all thought it would be a shootout of some sort ... and it was ... I don't like giving up 500 ... but the defense forces six turnovers, and we win by 11.

I'm not complaining until tomorrow.

11:36 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Who the heck is Jason King and why haven't I heard of him before. Usually I don't go huh when they mention a player's name.

11:37 PM

I think the OL struggled more than the D did tonight.

It feels odd to complain about an ugly game when we put 41 points on the board.

Jet's got it right. Tackling issues can be tomorrow morning's problem. Auburn clawed their way back when they could've cashed it in. War Damn Eagle.

11:43 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I am very proud of the way the team performed. That WV offense is better than many thought it would be after losing Pat White.

11:44 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I was disappointed that they got us into a passing mode early. FAH was getting swallowed up and I kept waiting for them to give Tate the ball.

11:45 PM

I feel that the d had more problems thatn the O...tackling.

I'll go ahead and take credit for the closest prediction...which was 38-35...last team to score wins.

11:46 PM

Steve..our oline got blown back early....couldn't run.

11:47 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

Hey, I was within 7 points of the score.

11:47 PM
Blogger WarEagleRK said...

The d's tackling was horrible...but they did make the plays that won the game for us.

I thought the OL really struggled...we couldn't open any holes and Todd was getting hit on every play.

11:48 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

We were trying to run outside. Tate up the gut was there. They were blitzing their linebackers, usually two on every play.

11:48 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

West Virginia has 79 plays and we had 74. You don't usually see those type of numbers.

WVU kept lining their DE's far outside of our tackles and that cut any runs outside out.

We beat them on the O and D lines at the end of the 1st and 2nd halfs. They beat us at the beginning. Other than conditioning or in half adjustments helping us to overcome, I don't what else to make of it.

Could you tell if we adjusted our blocking or wore them down as the half progresed?

11:54 PM

We adjusted, but our backs didn't do a good job picking up the blitz a some key plays.
