Coleman seeks sit-down with Chizik

Hey everyone. DE Antonio Coleman tonight said he's a little dismayed about something and wants to speak with The Head Coach about it.

Here's what he said:
  • "I’m a fifth-year senior and I came back to have fun and to help this team win. I just have to go sit down and talk with Coach Chizik about how I feel about what’s going on."

  • "There’s a lot of things going through my head. When it boils down to it, I still have to go out there and make plays whatever the predicament is. I think I’m going to sit down with Coach Chizik and talk to him about this defense. I know we have a couple of injuries and stuff like that. Just how I feel about how this defense is playing and just a couple of things that I may see we need to work on."

  • On if he prefers to rush or drop in coverage: ``It’s 50-50. I think I made a lot of great plays yesterday dropping back in coverage. I also love getting after the quarterback. It’s a 50-50 deal and anything to help this team win."

  • On if this is really just a ruse to get more time at linebacker: ``It doesn’t matter to me. Just tell me where to play on the football field and I’ll play. I’ll play a little linebacker. Like I told Coach Malzahn, put me at offensive guard and I’ll pull around and knock somebody out for you."

  • UNRELATED BUT FUNNY: ``If you want to look at grades, go over to Haley Center and get your grades. I don’t too much pay attention to that anymore. I don’t know what’s the deal with that. It's about ballin'."

  3. Just added a hilarious quote at the bottom of the blog entry.

    ReplyDelete
  4. JGT,

What is your take on this?

    ReplyDelete
  5. That quote will get good play

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm really not sure what he was trying to say, but I'm going to report the heck out of it tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  7. AC deserved to be on the 2004 team

    ReplyDelete
  8. I don't know why, but it doesn't sound good to me.

    ReplyDelete
  9. So, I'm a senior, and by the time anyone has anything to say about my grades, I'll have used up my eligibility and it won't matter a bit... unless we get to play in January.

    ReplyDelete
  10. scottatl,

You going to Christmas Jam this year?

    ReplyDelete
  11. And if we don't fix the defense, I won't get to play in January.

    ReplyDelete
  12. This has potential to be very interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Someone tell AC to tell Chiz that apparently if you throw the ball just a little bit over Neiko Thorpe it means big yardage.

Also, tell him that pursuit angels need some work.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Are he and Ziemba getting along?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Seems to be a lot of discontent from players right now with Coleman and Freeman. Typical, every team has 'em problems? Or personality conflicts with a new staff? Either way, I hope Chiz keeps most of it "in house" and gets these kids on board or out of town.

And I don't like his quote about grades one bit.
    Jay, has he graduated already?

    ReplyDelete
  16. RK

No Xmas jam this year...wife is pregnant.....my kid would have the lungs of a 30 year old when he/she is born due to the smoke in that arena

    ReplyDelete
  17. You make a good point...that place is too smokey.

I'm waiting to find out who all is going to be there. It's rumored that Neil Young might be there.

However, I just saw the Allman Brothers twice over the weekend, so I might have my Warren Haynes fill for the year.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Looks like AC doesn't care about the "student" part of "student-athlete".

    ReplyDelete
  19. I caught kings of Leon on Friday night over here....great tunes, even better scenery

    ReplyDelete
  20. I've never really gotten into Kings of Leon, but I can imagine the scenery is nice.

    ReplyDelete
  21. God I hope that this team isn't about to implode. It sounds as though AC is displeased with how Coach Roof is running the defense. Last year it was offensive problems. Could we be about to see a replay of 2008 on the defensive side of the ball?

    ReplyDelete
  22. JGT,

You cant leave us hanging....tell us this...is there inner turmoil again this year?????

    ReplyDelete
  23. It's probably never a good thing when a player goes over his position coach and coordinator to talk to the HC.

    ReplyDelete
  24. It's even worse when he goes to the media to tell everyone that he's about to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Its never a good thing when a player goes through the media to announce that he needs to have a meeting with the HC

    ReplyDelete
  26. I guess I read it totally differently. Just that he is concerned that the defense, of which he is a part, isn't playing as well as he thinks they can and he wants to talk to the coach about it. It just seemed to me he wanted to help make things better.

But, I usually see the bright side of things. I don't like turmoil.

    ReplyDelete

Dang RK..your 8:59pm comments are very snide for a player on a team that you supposedly support.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Do our pursuit angels have halos?

  32. I'm quoting what you said as being very accurate and true.

    ReplyDelete
  33. RK,

I also got to see Van Morrison in Vegas at the hard rock last month....pretty cool but his stage fright was obvious

    ReplyDelete
  34. Like saying "this" is right, "this" is true etc.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Reading more about Coleman's comments about grades - he said that when asked about not recording a tackle on Sat. He said he didn't look at stat sheets, Coach Rocker didn't look at stat sheets, "If you're interested in grades, go to Haley Center and get grades."

Seems to put it in a little different context.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Copied from last thread where I posted just as the new thread came up. But this post just adds to it. Jay is first to break the bad news from Coleman

    Jay
I know you are frustrated by the travel weekend, lack of family time, and all, and I also know you go out of your way to be unbiased, but do you have to frame the questions as AU being "gutted" and the defense. "sucking"? We all get it, AU lost and looked bad.

Seems a little less than necessary, as I presume that the questions weren't asked exactly lIke that.

I check HABOTN at least 7 times daily and normally enjoythe coverage alot, but stuff lke this gets old.

    ReplyDelete
  37. that context certainly changes my opinion

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes it does Cincy, but it still sounds as though AC is not a happy camper for some reason. It also sounds like the bull may be unhappy as well. This kind of discontent, if that is what it is, can spread like wildfire in a team.

    ReplyDelete
  39. In any event, when a player who will play in the NFL is in their last active season (fall semester) - that is the point in time where grades actually don't matter.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Can anyone confirm that Zeimba and AC share a locker?

    ReplyDelete
  41. But, if it is discontent about how you are playing personally and you see some things that can make it better, that is different from discontent over not getting enough playing time, etc.

I just got a different flavor from reading his comments on several different blogs. But, I didn't hear his comments, so it is hard to make judgments.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Again, good points Cincy. AC is one of our team leaders certainly a leader on the defense. My question has to be is what he is saying and doing displaying leadership? I certainly hope so but I wonder.

    ReplyDelete
  43. BTW, I don't think he is upset with his play as he stated that he thought that he had made some good plays yesterday in a game that the defense really stunk the place up. He also says that he has told the coaches that he will play anywhere, just put him in at linebacker, OG or wherever as he was willing to do what it takes to help the team. It sounds like a bigger issue to me.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't think this is a function of inner turmoil.

I think it's a function of A.C. being pissed that he has zero tackles in two SEC games.

He can't play well with that club on his hand and he doesn't know what to do about it. Hence the chat with Chizik.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't like this at all. Props to Jay for getting the story, but AC shouldn't have brought this up to the media. Going to the HC hints at dissatisfaction with the DC. It may be that going to the HC is appropriate, but telling the media about it isn't. Don't be shocked if AC doesn't play against Kentucky.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Jay,

I sure hope that your analysis is correct. That is what I would truly like to believe.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I see this has AC wanted to do whatever he can to help this defense.

    ReplyDelete
  48. WDEwg: You basically acknolwedge that I don't slant things negatively, then you say "stuff like this gets old."

So is this rare or is it common? You're saying both.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Who will be Kentucky's QB next week?

    ReplyDelete
  50. By the way, with Tennessee's performance against Georgia, apparently we don't have the worst defense in the SEC.

    ReplyDelete
  51. BTW Jay, I hope that you are now at home. You have earned that time this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  52. By the way, I don't think any of us are happy with the defense. AC is just acknowledging that he knows it too!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I have edited the "Gene Chizik Speaks" questions to soften the blow for WDEwg. I aim to please all HOTTIES.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I am not home, IV, but I plan to be there in less than an hour!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yes he knows it also as he said he is a 5th year senior and that he came back to enjoy this year as well as to try and help this team win. I believe he is saying I don't have much time for this to get fixed and feel like I made the right decision to come back, after all, I could be making the big bucks.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Have a safe trip home Jay and enjoy some time with your family if it is not to late in the day.

    ReplyDelete
  57. See ya, peeps.

    Take care.

    ReplyDelete

    Dissent already?

    Great.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Have a good one Jay.

"the defense (held) Arkansas to a single touchdown two years ago"

    Against who's offense?

    That's right.

The guy running ours. I wish the Titans' season wasn't already in the tank.

Losing and lining up for more losing sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Sensi, right there with ya. I hope I'm not subjected to double losses next weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  63. As I told Jay Cincy, I hope his analysis is correct. That is what I truly would like to believe. I guess after last year, it is easy to be gun shy. But I think that when you use the media to announce that you want to speak about the things that are on your mind with the head coach and talk to him about something that needs to be fixed, he is trying to tell the world that IHO something ain't right and he doesn't like it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Anonymous10:06 PM

At least we get to draft another RB at the top of the draft again, Sean.

    Or a linebacker.

    Or maybe Eric Berry.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anonymous10:06 PM

Maybe the Titans can get Jason Campbell. He'll be looking for a job and would seemingly work well with what they try to do on offense.

    ReplyDelete
  66. If we draft another DB in the first top ten picks again I will go ballistic, even if it is Eric Berry.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think J-Cam would be a great addition, but only if the Titans jettison Heimerdinger. He is unwilling to work his offense to a player and expects the player to execute the system. IMO that's Busch League.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anonymous10:11 PM

Fish won't dump Mike H. He fought to bring him back. He likes that system. At this point, JC would work in that because he can't carry an offense alone and in this offense, he wouldn't have to.

    ReplyDelete
  69. WOW. One loss and the sky is falling. I'm not drinking the coosa-aid, but this is a good team with defense that needs someone to step up. Maybe this is what AC is doing. Maybe not. Dissention on this team would be hard for me to believe. Zero tackles probably makes him think he needs to step up.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anonymous10:13 PM

Vince Young gets another chance. Let's see what he does with it.

    ReplyDelete
  71. This is lose-lose for Vince. If he looks bad, the haters are validated. If he looks good, then it's just because there's nothing to lose and the Colts are playing soft.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anonymous10:16 PM

True, but they need to see if he can do anything. The game is lost, the season is basically lost, so why not see if the kid has anything left to offer.

    ReplyDelete
  73. No I agree with that, if they want to give him a chance, they need to give him a real chance and not just mop up duty.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Anonymous10:17 PM

For the record, I think "gutted" and "sucking" are very accurate descriptions of how Saturday went.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anonymous10:18 PM

Sean, I agree. He needs to start the next few games and see what happens.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Yeah Hoopie, you are right I only "supposedly" support Auburn.

You've discovered what I've been hiding all these years.

Petrino picked on Neiko all game long, we all saw it.

    ReplyDelete
  77. WERK, you're such a Bammer. Admit it, you only "supposedly" support Auburn.

    *Sarcasm*

    ReplyDelete
  78. By the way, the misuse of the "wildcat" term in the NFL is supremely annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Anonymous10:20 PM

If some people (not you Sean, I get the sarcasm) are calling RK a Bammer, I must be a card-carrying member of the REC.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Anonymous10:20 PM

    Sigh

I am so tired of the "mildcat" offense.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I'll be back in a few days. Maybe things will change.

    ReplyDelete
  82. So Sensi, does the REC had a no-laminate rule like the social security office or...?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Sensi,

Two years ago Gus wasn't at Arkansas...it was 3 years ago when they marched in to Jordan Hare and spanked us when we were # 2 that Gus was at Arkansas.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anonymous10:22 PM

I'll have to ask Paul Jr. at the next meeting.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Anonymous10:23 PM

RK, thanks for the correction. I had that wrong. My bad.

Saturday was still a "gutting" and "sucked."

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'm still in shock how our offense couldn't move the ball in the 1st half against Arkansas D...

There has to be a reason for that, but I'm completely lost as to what that could be.

I know the over throw on the easy TD pass to T-Zach and the two penalties that put is at 1st and 15 to start drives were big, but nothing we shouldn't be able to over come.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Our thin D will look as good as our offense lets it look.

If our offense executes yesterday then our D looks a lot better, however going 3 and out almost all the 1st half exposed our D.

    ReplyDelete
  88. WERK, on the replay,I saw they were getting upfield and harassing the QB early and often. We weren't able to get in a rhythm and I don't think the early start time helped. Combined with a couple of missed blocks, overthrown passes and dropped balls...you don't do much.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Anonymous10:26 PM

Well, now that Peyton has achieved 300 yards on the Titans, I'm calling it a night.

    Later.

    ReplyDelete
  90. RK is correct. Thorpe got worked. I like Neiko, but he's young and less experienced. McFadden or Thorpe, where would you throw?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Neiko was in decent position most of the time, he just has to be able to use his hands better. There were a couple of times he got burned where he could have easily defended the pass. He will get better as he gets more experience.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Goodnight all.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Neiko seemed to have good coverage, but once he turns to the ball he's lost.

Petrino/Mallett picked up on that early and kept going to that side.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Blogger Sensi said...

"the defense (held) Arkansas to a single touchdown two years ago"

    That's right.

    The guy running ours.

    Uhh, that would be wrong.

The guy running our offense was at Tulsa two years ago. The guy running Arkansas's offense two years ago is now running Ole Miss's offense.

The guy running our offense was running Arky's THREE years ago. Remember that game?

    ReplyDelete
  95. And surprise surprise... the team of harmonious happy unity-ness isn't all perfect... and we happen to find out after a loss. That's why all the "this team is so together" quotes crack me up when said during winning streaks. Of course you are all happy, you're winning!

    ReplyDelete
  96. Goodnight IV, I'm off to bed as well.

Check everyone tomorrow. I'll try to supposedly support my butt off then as well.

    I'll do better.

    ReplyDelete
  97. For the record, I look at AC's comments as indicative of a guy who's been a part of some solid defenses over the years. He's upset that we have regressed this year and don't appear to be getting better from week to week.

``It doesn’t matter to me. Just tell me where to play on the football field and I’ll play. I’ll play a little linebacker. Like I told Coach Malzahn, put me at offensive guard and I’ll pull around and knock somebody out for you."

That doesn't sound like a guy who's interested in stirring up dissent so he can get some more playing time. That sounds like a 5th-year Senior trying to be more of a leader to me.

And I totally understood what he meant by 'grades' in that quote. In the context he said it, it seems pretty obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anonymous10:40 PM

Sensi....Cynicism is not nearly as cute as you seem to think it is.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Disagree, Michael. I think this team IS united. They're deeply disappointed in how poorly they performed yesterday, that's all.

Now, if JGT had quoted Chris Todd or Ben Tate saying that AU lost because the defense can't stop a baby's fart, and that the special teams ought to ride to the games in a short bus, then I'd be worried.

But he didn't, so I'm not. Much, anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Yeah, I don't read a whole lot into AC's comments. UT was a team in shambles a week ago (togetherness wise) and yesterday they beat UGA 45-19 without letting the Dawgs get inside the their 20 once.

Sensing a lot of negativity in here tonight. What's the deal? There are 9 undefeated teams left in college football and because we're not one of them anymore, everyone is seeing everything through a muddied lense.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Correct, E-Bro.

AC had a bad taste in his mouth from last year, and he's using his status as the leader of the defense to try to prevent it from happening this year.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Almost forgot my main reason for coming on here: to humbly suggest to JGT that the following comment from yesterday's final score post be considered for headline quote status:

    ehyou said...

Drinking heavily since 10 AM does have it's consequences, but pessimism is not one of them.

    6:35 PM

    Magic. Pure magic.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Freep, I think they are united also. I also think last year's team was more united than some might believe also... until it was obvious the offense was in the crapper.

Very much a chicken or the egg argument. Are you united because you are winning or are you winning because you are united? I for one believe winning has more to do with game planning, talent, practice habits, and the ability to execute. Certainly togetherness can affect that to some degree, but maybe not to the degree that some think. Call me cynical, but I still think that "togetherness" and "unity" is more affected by the outcome of games than the outcome of games is by togetherness or unity.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I feel badly for Ted Roof. We aren't getting a pass rush, but we aren't deep enough to blitz much. We're poor at tackling, but he has to limit tackling practice to prevent injuries. (Can you even imagine trying to finish this season without Josh Bynes?) He's dealing with some players who ignore their assignments. His best player is asking for a skip two level meeting. He's gotta hate hearing that alarm clock in the morning.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I think last year the coaches weren't united, and that is far worse than squabbling amongst teammates.

Same with AU in '98, or Bama in '00. In both cases there were coaching staffs who didn't get along, but managed to succeed the previous year - mainly because of quality leadership on the team (Craig, Takeo and Ricky Neal for AU, Shaun Alexander and Chris Samuels for Bama).

When you've got 100 or so 17-22 year old guys spending most of their time together (and competing against one another) you're going to have conflicts. I don't think this team is any different in that regard, but I do think they may have more of an 'us vs them' mentality that will help them pull together.

    But I'm just guessing.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Players don't have talks with coaches, coaches have talks with players. Just a thought.

    ReplyDelete
  107. *sigh*.

So all it needed was a loss to make this WERK come in and start dissing an Auburn athlete. Its not the first time. Maybe someone will make him run off from here like he's been run-oft from other forums.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Interesting point, Michael. I believe that winning makes everything easier, including being united. I'm concerned about the number of players on our team that seem to have non-physical issues impacting their ability to contribute. PPL, BI, and EF to name three. What's up with that?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Kentucky lost their QB at South Carolina. We need to man up and stop the run this week and make the sub throw. And I think we will.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Aero, I'm all for knocking down the negativity from everyone in here today, but RK is a 2008 Ring of Fire Hottie, so show a little respect.

If you want to start a crusade against HABOTN negativity in general, then I'm with you brother. Not like that, though.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Yeah, I don't think Hartline was particularly good, but his backup didn't do diddly poo against South Carolina. That said, I know they're Kentucky, but the WR Cobb (who may play some QB now) and RB Locke can ball. If don't fix our tackling issues, they'll make some plays on us.

    ReplyDelete
  112. If we don't fix our tackling issues, Furman will make plays on us. However, the offense will make many more plays on the mighty Paladins.

    ReplyDelete
  113. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  114. The 2008 ROF isn't any validation, it's just a point to you that he's been here for a while, so I'm guessing he ain't going anywhere anytime soon.

Besides, there's plenty of other deputy downers in here today other than just one guy. I'm all for less negativity on here, but it's not like we're dealing with terd miners from al.com in here.

    ReplyDelete
  115. About the UK QB situation:

Rich Brooks said that he will play Randall Cobb as Wildcat QB. That can give Auburn defense a lot of fits.

They also have Will Fidler (Jr) and Morgan Newton (Fr). If Fidler proves ineffective they might put in Ryan Mossakowski.

However I think Fidler wouldn't have a disastrous game against the paper thin Auburn defense.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Aero,

What's your deal? Neiko got picked on, I'm just stating the facts. Others have stated that as well.

A couple of weeks ago you got on me for saying Lee Ziemba was prone to false starts, which he was for all of last year and the first three games this year. However in the process I was also saying he's a heck of an OT, but you just jumped one me for the part you didn't like.

What other boards have I been "ran off" from?

I used to post on al.com utill it got so out of hand with Alabama people that it wasn't worth it.

I used to post on Auburn Undercover for the 1st 3 months it was active until it became a pay site then I left and came here.

    That is all.

But please I ask you to name any forums that I have been "run off" from.

It's a message forum, we are allowed to post opinions. I didn't degrade Neiko as a person, I did discuss that he was a target of Petrino's offense.

    ReplyDelete
  117. E-Bro,

    Thanks for the support.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Randall Cobb is a heck of an athlete who if UK runs the wildcat a lot this week can give us a headache.

I know very little about their other two QB's.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I'll be an optimist. I'm certain we'll win two more games this year, maybe even 3.

I was only able to watch from mid first qtr to mid 2nd qtr on Saturday. That was not pretty. I did get to watch all of the UF vs LSU game. Those guys looked so much more talented and faster than either AU or Arky.

    ReplyDelete
  120. THT,

I think two games that before the season looked like they would be losses can be wins as LSU and UGA are two teams I think we can beat.

Right now, only Alabama looks like a team that we can't beat. Unfortunately I don't see anyone beating them.

I think we can go 5-1 or 4-2 the rest of the way even with our thin D as long as the offense is on the same page.

Sorry for apparently killing the thread earlier this morning everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  121. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Aero,

It is still a message forum where we can post opinions and comments on the game, right?

Sorry that you take offense when individual players are discussed in anything but a glowing light.

If Jay G. thinks anything I have said is out of line for his blog, then that's fine. I don't feel I have posted anything out of line, nor do I feel that I've posted anything that deserves being run off just because you don't like my opinion.

I post my thoughts and opinions on here because this is a fun place to come discuss Auburn or really anything else.

  123. Well Aero deleted his post so it looks like I responded to nobody.

    Nice try, Hoopie.

You love drawing people in corners you paint as well. At least I am consistent.

Freep, learn to read. I already admitted that was a "my bad" on where Malzhan was/wasn't in 2007. I didn't delete the previous comment because other points of conversation in here would have been out there without it remaining.

Don't like it - I suggest both of you take it up with Jay G.

    See you next week.

  125. Can't we all just get along???

all of this tension is getting to me... I think I will go launch some rockets...

    ReplyDelete
  126. JGT..

I read the interview with Coleman.. in my take he was not talking about school grades but rather the Grades they get in the game.

His point was who cares about how you grade out "in a game" if you do not win and are not making things happen...

    ReplyDelete
  127. I agree DL. It's just a message forum, it's supposed to be fun.

    ReplyDelete
  128. WERK.
You have a habit of dissing Auburn players with snide remarks. I find that distasteful. I can't stop you from posting opinions (however stupid they are) and neither can you stop me from expressing my dislike.

Nobody can bat down a pass when the QB and WR have all day to get open and position it perfectly. That is the response to your snide comments about Thorpe.

I'm not going to get into another argument with you.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Anonymous7:16 AM

Kudos to Ben Tate who did play well especially in the second half.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Wow, i've intentionally chose to read little on Habotn or anything regarding Auburn since the game and to go through all the comments is just surprising. Let's hope the team is holding up better than the Habotn family these days.

Fact is Auburn lost. Big deal. It was going to happen this season and it did. This team is lacking in quality players compared to others and like Chizik says, they really have to play perfect ball to overcome these obstacles that the previous staff, YES TUBERVILLE, left. I still love the direction this team is going. Winning 8 games is achievable and you would have to agree that 8 wins before the season would have made a majority of people happy here.

For those that thought this was a 93 or 04 season, I can understand wanting to feel that way, but there was never enough players to make it happen.

I said it earlier and i'll say it again, IT'S GREAT TO BE AN AUBURN TIGER!!!!!!!! I wouldn't have it any other way.

  131. Morning Hotties - I'd like to offer this quote from "Motorist", People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids?...It’s just not right. It’s not right. It’s not, it’s not going to change anything. We’ll, we’ll get our justice....Please, we can get along here. We all can get along. I mean, we’re all stuck here for a while. Let’s try to work it out. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to work it out.

Other than that, KEEP HATE ALIVE!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Good morning, Hotties! It's great to be an Auburn Tiger and I for one am still looking at an 11-1 regular season. If someone had told me at the end of last season we would be 5-1 to start this season, i would have been ecstatic. I'm not ready to jump off the bus yet. Let's start getting ready for Kentucky!

And DL, if I read the headlines correctly, you did fire off a couple of missiles :)

    ReplyDelete
  133. Coach Chizik told me that he was married and not interested in Pursuit Angels.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Aero,

You can think my opinions are stupid, I really don't care. Again it's a public message forum, I never asked you to stop posting if you dislike my opinions. I think it sucks that you like to call me out over whatever reasons you have to call me out, because I have a lot of respect for what you do.

However if you don't want to get in a debate/argument/whatever with me, don't post things about me or directly to me. Just ignore me and move on.

I'll ask others on here, do I have "a habit of dissing Auburn players"?

I have posted that Ziemba had an issue with false starts and that Thorpe struggled on Saturday and Petrino exposed that. Those are both opinions that I feel are backed up with evidence. Are we not to discuss those things on the HABOTN? Should we not discuss individual players at all? Are there rules that I'm missing?

I also post when I feel people have played well and have stepped up. I have posted those things on Ziemba and Thorpe as well. Aero doesn't notice those.

If it's just Aero that's offended, then I can't help it, however if others are bothered by my posts, then that's a different story.

I try to post my honest thoughts, I figure it's allowed as Jay G has never pulled me aside and told me that I've been out of line.

It's a message forum, remember. It's supposed to be fun. You are supposed to be able to discuss things.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Aero,

Wow, calling me out for typos now? Geez.

You put "off" as "oft" earlier, big deal. People make typos. I didn't think it was a big deal, but since we are apparently dropping down to 4th grade ripping here...

    ReplyDelete
  136. HABOTN- This is a place for rational discussion, whether topics are positive or negative. That's what I love about coming here. I think it is safe to say with the exception of FSJ, everyone on here wants Auburn to win every single game in dominating fashion. Will that happen, nope. It should be fine to point out things that happened on the field, good or bad and discuss. If it involves a player, so be it. If you get offended by this type of talk, then what's the point of trying to have a rational conversation about it. There have been time where I thought one thing and then somebody counters me and I see what they were saying and agree with them. That is why we all need to get along and respect each others opinion. I don't believe anyone on here has the intent to hurt Auburn or demean an individual player. We are never going to all agree and be on the same page about what we think is happening, but let's continue to be able to express our opinions without getting bashed for having them. If you disagree with them, counter them, don't just call someone stupid.

Sorry for the rant and as far as RK goes, I don't think he bashes players.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Nice call Sensi

Auburn has problems but can work around them and win a bunch of games this year.

Same can't be said for my Titans. That ship is in trouble.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Can we all just take a deep breath and start over? The reason I have enjoyed this blog is that the personal attacks have always been kept to a minimum. Can we stick to discussing the points in each others' posts and not attack each others' character?

And as a mom, I am going to say - I don't want to hear "Well, he said so and so, and I am just responding." Play nice so that it's fun for everyone.

OK, taking my mom hat off. Let's talk some fun stuff. There is still plenty of that around! :)

Seriously, ya'll, should the Titans give Vince Young a couple more starts to see what he can do?

    ReplyDelete
  144. WERK. I've mostly respected your opinions (and that's what we are, identities to opinions.)

I didn't like your verbiage. I didn't like it when you said Ziemba 'has a habit of drawing penalties', or that he's ill-disciplined, and I didn't like the remarks here.

You can continue using that verbiage, and I'll continue to comment on it. Status quo.

What others think about you, or me does not dictate my opinion. Neither do these comments make you some kind of an evil bammie in my eyes.

We are all a family that fights .... I just fight more than others.

  145. Ok, so Eddie put it much better than I. (He types faster!) But, I agree with all he said. Thanks, Eddie!!

  146. mornin' hotties. wow, losing sucks. we all knew it was going to happen sooner or later but getting bent over Petrino's knee and spanked wasn't what i expected.

looking forward to getting back on track vs. Kentucky this weekend.

Nevermind. We are the 7 pm FSN game.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Aero,

I didn't ask others opinions to try to sway you, I wanted to make sure that I wasn't coming across to others like I apparently come off to you.

I can be a sarcastic @$$, it's just how I'm wired. Some like it, some don't. However I don't think anything I've posted is intended as how you seem to interpt it.

I'm a big boy, I can deal with whatever you feel to dish out.

  151. Anonymous7:51 AM

Check that, need to read better. We are the ESPNU game.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Sensi,

I think the Titans should try Vince Young. At this point, what could it hurt. They are already 0-5, so any spark could be a good one.

They are paying him a ton of money, it's time for him to produce.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Titans look absolutely horrid.

    ReplyDelete
  154. dang, I'm with Eddie...haven't read much since the game, but man oh man...you'd think we were on a 10 game losing streak by the feeling conveyed here.

    Here's my opinon:

We needed that loss to open the teams' eyes. I truely think every game up until Bama is extremely winnable for this team. Heck, I actually expect us to run the table to Georgia for sure. UK is a W. LSU has ZERO offense...I've said for a couple weeks now that I was a lot more worried about Arkansas than LSU. Ole Miss? Come on now, they're Ole Miss. Could be a tough game, but at home, at night, I don't see us losing that one. W for Homecoming and we're sitting at 9-1 going into the rivalry games. In my opinion, that's no stretch. UGA always fights, but I've got to think/hope this team is better than what I've been seeing from UGAy this year--just look at the UT game for each team! A W there would put us at 10-1, playing Bama for the rights to the Dome!

Come on guys, jump on the train again and let's do this!

    ReplyDelete
  155. Speaking of looking horrid, some NFL throwback uniforms should never be used.

Yes, I'm talking to you Denver.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I know no one on this list probably cares, but did anyone see the Bengals' game yesterday? 20 yard pass with 22 seconds remaining to give Bengals a 17-14 victory over the Ravens.

We've waited such a long time for a decent season!

    ReplyDelete
  157. Jay W not tate,

I agree. I posted earlier that I think we can go 5-1 or 4-2 the rest of the way if our offense does what it should. I think LSU and UGA are road games that we can win and if we take care of business at home we could be 10-1 or 9-2 heading into the Iron Bowl.

How huge would that game be then?

    ReplyDelete
  158. Cincy,

As a Steelers fan, any time anyone beats the Ravens I'm all for it.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Cincy, i actually watched the last 5 minutes of that game. it was a great ending.

    ReplyDelete
  160. I'd love to win both, but I'm not sure we do so I'll say we take only one of either the LSU or UGA games. I'm kind of inclined to say it'll be UGA. Maybe that's a bit of wishful thinking since I'm in that particular enemy's territory.

    ReplyDelete
  161. LSU has this weeekend off before we go to Baton Rouge on the 24th. i think that's a big advantage for them. it's gotta help them having 2 weeks to prepare for our offense.

on the same note, i think it's good we get to play another game to get some mistakes worked out before we go down there.

    ReplyDelete
  162. This team is as good as the offense is. If the offense has an off game, like it did against Arkansas, then it is really tough to win. We don't have enough depth for the defense to be out on the field for long stretches without giving up points.

At least this team showed some Moxy when it came out firing in the 3rd quarter instead of just laying low and compounding the beating as previous teams have done.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I agree, our best defense is when the offense is executing like it did in every game except the Arkansas game.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Looking at the SEC at the half way point are there any teams that can beat Florida or Alabama?

    ReplyDelete
  165. Florida and Alabama are the clear top 2 teams in the sec and should make it to Atlanta undefeated. Any of the other teams can beat each other on any given Saturday IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  166. it doesn't look like it RK. not right now anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  167. That's what I'm afraid of that it looks like we have two dominant teams and eight somewhat interchangable teams and two doormats.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Can we win 5 more games. YES! But I am not going to let y'all get me all confident that we're going to be 11-1 or 10-2, because if we end up 8-4 it will be a huge disappointment. I much prefer gravy over disappointment, so I'll keep my expectations at 7-5.

And yes, I PROUDLY wore my AU shirt on the bus tour Sunday. I was surprised how many people knew the AU was Auburn. I wasn't with what you'd call a sports crowd. They were from all over the country and other countries.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I wore my Auburn shirt after the game in Birmingham at the Allman Brothers/Widespread Panic concert surrounded by tons of Bama fans.

Contrary to unpopular belief, I don't change my colors after a loss.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I agree with the crowd on Bama and UF. I did see some hope for Florida in that matchup, as Bama's offense really struggled to put the ball in the end-zone against Ole Miss.

LSU's defense looked impressive against Florida, but I don't see how they can put points on the board against Alabama. You know Bama is going to stack the line and make Jefferson beat them with the passing game. Don't see that happening.

    ReplyDelete
  171. RK- I noticed the Ooltewah and Rhea County played on Saturday due to weather on Friday. +

    ReplyDelete
  172. LSU doesn't have the dominant d-line that it has had in the past, but it is very good at going side to side. I think teams that can run straight at LSU give them problems.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Scottie B- might I suggest you try "Scottie B -not ready for UK" this week and see if that works?

    ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  174. I will suggest something the Defense could work on this week and that would be tackling from the waistline down instead of going airborne or trying to tackle up high. Can't let the offensive player keep his legs when tackling.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Eduardo ...

At 8:05 CDT today, you summed it up perfectly.

Since Columbus, who sailed an ocean blue in 1492, is being honored today with a state holiday, I am going to honor Mrs. Jet's birth by picking up her favorite cake, cleaning the kitchen, purchasing a small gift, and cooking dinner.

    Later HOT ONES.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Eddie,

Unfortunately I also noticed the Rhea County/Ooltewah score. Congrats.

Apparently the weather here on Friday was awful. We got out of town just in time.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Eddie,

UK has some players that will give us problems if we don't tackle well. Randall "not Tex" Cobb being the main one.

    Jet,

    Happy birthday to Mrs. Jet!

    ReplyDelete
  178. Jet- Happy B'Day to Mrs. Jet.

RK- I heard Rhea County is down right now, is that the case? Oh, and Cobb scares me. He is darn good.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Eddie,

Rhea Co. lost 15 senior starters from a 10 win season last year.

Also, we moved up from 4A to 6A with the new realignment. I think we made the 6A cut by 20 students.

    ReplyDelete
  180. I'm late on this, but my message to Aero is:

    Simmer down, Beavis.

I don't think anyone here has been unusually negative. Auburn was worked at Arkansas and it's reasonable for Auburn fans to be upset. There are plenty of reasons to be upset.

    That's just my opinion, though.

    ReplyDelete
  181. Can AC's conversation with Chiz be a television event?

    ReplyDelete
  182. If promoted properly this could be a PPV event...or something broadcast by Eddie & Sensi on their show.

    ReplyDelete
  183. WERK, are you still supposedly support Auburn...your crimson is showing. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  184. I'm trying, but apparently after we lose a game I pounce.

    ReplyDelete
  185. I'll reiterate: I don't think AC is mad about team chemistry. I think he's mad that he's not making a bigger impact on things and wants to figure out how to make that happen.

He's been part of several excellent defenses. He has certain expectations, they're not being met and he's trying to get it handled.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Jay G, sounds like the relentless pursuit of perfection to me. I have no issues with that.

    ReplyDelete

Coleman needs to be moved around and utilized more. No matter where they put him it couldnt hurt this "D".

  188. I still wear my Titans gear in public, but it's getting tougher by the week.

As for Auburn, one loss does not a season ruin.

    ReplyDelete
  189. One defensive concern is that we tipped off the blitz a lot against Ark and they adjusted at the line.

Another thing was that Ark's OL tipped the run often lining up outside of Goggins and Coleman and hooking them inside so they couldn't get to the outside runs.

    ReplyDelete
  190. And then Adam Herring gets lost and can't make a play...I swear it's like a perfect storm out there.

    ReplyDelete
  191. We need to rename the coosa-aid; some of you have taken optimism to a level beyond mine. I can't see us going into the IB at 10-1. I said that a 10-2 season was not out of the question IF we won our first 4 games. We did, and that put the 10-2 scenario into play. But, even drinking the coosa-aid, we had to start out 7-0 to get to 10-2.

I think 9-3 is the upside now. Lose to KY, and 7-5 is more likely, with 6-6 not out of the question. We'd have to suffer more injuries to drop to 6-6, but that's not unreasonable to expect.

If we beat KY, I think we finish either 8-4 or 9-3. If that is coosa-aid, then I am still drinking it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  192. You just had to turn it before we went away, huh?

    ReplyDelete
