The First Official HABOTN Poll
**Due to a family commitment, I will not be available for Thursday Night Live tomorrow. To make up for that egregious breach, I will participate in an event of your choosing Thursday afternoon.
Whatever we do, festivities will begin at 2 p.m. CDT.
Aubrey Phillips has withdrawn from school and is headed home due to medical reason. - I doubt this kid will ever play from what i've heard. Sad situation, but I don't think he can risk it. Hopefully i'm wrong.
PPL- Will work with the offense and will probably play WR this week.
Chizik- According to rivals, Chizik said they had a physical week of practice and rolled the dice by doing so and it paid off. - I like it.
ehyou - I had an AU cowboy hat like that in 8th or 9th grade. The only better AU lids were the orange and blue pimp hats my brother and I had in the 70's.
Everytime I see a cowboy hat I think of one of my friend's bachelor parties in New Orleans.
We lost a member of our party that night on Bourbon Street. Walking back to the room much much later we found him passed out on a bench with a cowboy hat on and a feather boa.
y'all may have already reported this, haven't had time to read every single post (but did read most of them), but D&B is reporting Eltoro expected to play against KY.
Byrum supposedlysprained his ankle by stepping in a hole, this week. he has been wearing a protective boot just as a precaution. he will play Saturday. he is OK, just do not want to injure it further
Jay, Just reporting from a text message I received from them. They are usually pretty careful about putting anything out there unless they are pretty confident. But, take it with a grain of salt.
D& B is Dunaway & Brown radio show in B'ham. Dunaway also does CBS news (sports)
He is a bammer and he admits it, but I think he reports pretty fairly. He isn't afraid to call bama down on something or to give props to AU when they deserve it. And Brown is a good Auburn man.
I think I have a pic of you in the ginormous orange hat from 9th grade. I'd be happy to post it if you'd like. You may or may not have been wearing a Bubba Bean sticker at the time.
George Washington crossed the Delaware and suffered with his men at a bitter Valley Forge. Andrew Jackson fought the bloody British at New Orleans. Brother fought brother at Manassas, Antietam and Gettyburg. Men died in trenches in Europe, and on the beaches of Normandy and on islands in the Pacific. They bled in Korea and Vietnam. And men and women served in the Persian Gulf, and serve again today in Iraq and Afghanistan.
All for the right to vote. HOTTIES, it's your civic duty.
During the Arky long kick return I commented that we were in our lanes and seemed schemed/coached correctly. According to Andy Bitter, Boulware says that we had 7walkons on the field. Here's a paste.
On Arkansas' long kick return last week, Boulware said the team had seven walk-ons on the field. "The thing that stood out to us the most was that we didn’t have anybody make a play," he said. "We forced them to change directions three or four times, but nobody wanted to go get him. Everybody was kind of passive. We didn’t make a play. We have to make a play. We have to teach our guys to make a play."
Looked like we had 3 guys around him at the 20 or so ... he gave a little wiggle, and they all fell down as if he had busted out the sleepy gas on them.
I think it's a little early in PPL's career to call him 'overrated'. Officially, he's still only halfway through his Freshman year.
Bitter's blog entry illustrates it perfectly - our special teams problems are almost 100% due to depth. Maybe we should try the TAMU "12th Man" thing that Jackie Sherrill used and get a bunch of intramural guys who's only job is to knock down kick returners.
HABOTN members must have more of a life than I. Tom is out of town so I have to stay up until I am really sleepy so I don't lie in bed and hear every little noise. I thought I would have some company here.
For thise that care, I heard something interesting that I thought I would share. It involves recuiting so skip this if you do not care:
Supposedly this staff has already gotten assurances from the guys they want for 2010 and this class is now full. They are working on keeping them in the fold and have been working for 2011. this staff feels great about the class they have assembled and while they feel they will not be surprised in February, many around the country will be. (Yes I do know these are 18 year old kids and can change their minds. This staff just thinks they will not)
Okay, I can probably guess most of those (Jackson is Jkev, Ft. Lauderdale is Jhag...), but we have hotties in Kansas? That's like being on a random lake in Alaska when suddenly, a plane with an Auburn flag lands beside you...
wtc, What do you think of the DL recruits for 2010? All of the talk about the LB position has somewhat taken away from the point that the DL is not as strong it has been in the past.
My issue with the alternate chat format is this: How is it any different than posting in the threads? Jay, why not just say you will be in threadland answering questions at 2:00 this afternoon? Because if it is like the UK chat, the live chat is basically like the comments section but without the cross chatter between Hotties.
Participating in Chatroll is just completely impossible for me during the workday so I voted for the other. Aside from that, I wasn't able to keep up at all yesterday and haven't caught up on posts. What's the latest?
I won't be here either, but I voted because I wanted to see my little pin on the map. Guess the LA people dropped off because ti only shows the last 50 votes. You must have a bunch of people voting.
CIncy, since the weather is suppose to be so nice, we are coming down early to enjoy gameday. I'll try to find you. I finally realized where Kristina is, but she won't be there this weekend.

ReplyDeleteRock the vote peeps.

ReplyDeleteNews of Note:
ReplyDeleteAubrey Phillips has withdrawn from school and is headed home due to medical reason.
I forgot to mention that the above was on rivals, sorry.
ReplyDeletePPL at WR. We don't need no stikin WR. We need linebackers!!
ReplyDeleteWe were talking about Aubrey Phillips yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he was right at any point during his time at Auburn.
PPL: The Most Overrated Auburn Player I've Never Seen.
Eddie failed to mention that PPL is also going to play linebacker. Remember, AU likes its LB's small and fast.
ReplyDeleteI agree about PPL at WR, i really just wanted him at Punt Returner and wouldn't mind seeing him at Kick Returner.
ReplyDeleteIs Blake and Benton still playing for the Tigers??? So much for hyping the freshman WR's. Maybe they will come thru soon.
ReplyDeleteI have two tics for sale to the game Sat. Email me if you are interested. Will sell for face value. Thanks.
ReplyDeletePPL = Jerald Watson.
ReplyDeleteSensi- You not going????
ReplyDeleteI am going. These are extra.
ReplyDeletePPL= Julio Jones
ReplyDeleteOver-rated at this point maybe. That don't mean he can't still be awesome.
ReplyDeletePPL wishes.
ReplyDeleteehyou- PPL can be as awesome as the hat in your avatar with the right coaching!
ReplyDeleteIs PPL even 100% yet? Considering the knee injury, I hope the best is yet to come with that guy.
ReplyDeleteehyou - I had an AU cowboy hat like that in 8th or 9th grade. The only better AU lids were the orange and blue pimp hats my brother and I had in the 70's.
ReplyDeleteOf course, that's not counting Scottie B's HABOTN caps.
ReplyDeleteEverytime I see a cowboy hat I think of one of my friend's bachelor parties in New Orleans.
ReplyDeleteWe lost a member of our party that night on Bourbon Street. Walking back to the room much much later we found him passed out on a bench with a cowboy hat on and a feather boa.
Have no idea where he got either.
FSJ- I can only imagine the hard time your friend endured.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's right. Turd Ferguson. It's a funny name.
ReplyDeleteThere is far far more talk about PPL than there was about Jerald Watson.
ReplyDeleteTeach him to tackle and use PPL as a blitzing LB, he should be able to get to the QB. 170 pound LB would be the talk of the college football world.
That's a big hat, it's funny.
ReplyDeleteI found one of my buddies in New Orleans after daybreak the next morning "preaching" to a couple of winos. He was not previously a theologian.
ReplyDeleteThe Bull & PPL replaced Burns & Fannin as the most hyped duo from last year.
ReplyDeleteAgreed RK. Very true at this point.
ReplyDeletey'all may have already reported this, haven't had time to read every single post (but did read most of them), but D&B is reporting Eltoro expected to play against KY.
ReplyDeleteEltero playing will be nice for depth. Hopefully he will get his act together.
ReplyDeleteDEATH TO THE THREAD!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like D&B, you know that, but I don't think they have inside information.
ReplyDeleteWho is D&B?
ReplyDeleteByrum supposedlysprained his ankle by stepping in a hole, this week. he has been wearing a protective boot just as a precaution. he will play Saturday. he is OK, just do not want to injure it further
ReplyDeleteJay,
ReplyDeleteJust reporting from a text message I received from them. They are usually pretty careful about putting anything out there unless they are pretty confident. But, take it with a grain of salt.
D& B is Dunaway & Brown radio show in B'ham. Dunaway also does CBS news (sports)
They were also reporting Aubrey Phillips withdrawal.
ReplyDeleteDave & Busters. Video games and alcoholic beverages - a great combination.
ReplyDeleteehyou,
ReplyDeleteyou killed it
Dunaway is a good guy..
ReplyDeleteA bammer but a good guy...
He is a bammer and he admits it, but I think he reports pretty fairly. He isn't afraid to call bama down on something or to give props to AU when they deserve it. And Brown is a good Auburn man.
ReplyDeleteChoco Scottie,
ReplyDeleteI think I have a pic of you in the ginormous orange hat from 9th grade. I'd be happy to post it if you'd like. You may or may not have been wearing a Bubba Bean sticker at the time.
Wow, chatroll is losing. Is this the end of an era!!??!!
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked too michael..
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the campfires.
Maybe so.
ReplyDeleteThe upside of Cover It Live is Jay G. can limit how fast it moves which has been a complaint against Chatroll.
Glad to hear that about Byrum. Thanks wtc.
ReplyDeleteAnybody watching Boise St/Tulsa?
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Zookeeper, where ever you are!!!
ReplyDeleteKristina...hope you've had an AUsome day
Happy Birthday Kristina!
ReplyDeleteI am. Good game.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a surprisingly good game.
ReplyDeleteI think Chris Peterson is a top notch coach.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Washington crossed the Delaware and suffered with his men at a bitter Valley Forge. Andrew Jackson fought the bloody British at New Orleans. Brother fought brother at Manassas, Antietam and Gettyburg. Men died in trenches in Europe, and on the beaches of Normandy and on islands in the Pacific. They bled in Korea and Vietnam. ReplyDeleteAll for the right to vote. HOTTIES, it's your civic duty.
My lapel sticker reads: HABOTN Voter. It has a cartoonish check going through the Campfire Logo.
ReplyDeleteBro Jet,
ReplyDeleteYou sounded a little like Saban in that speech
Cincy ...
ReplyDeleteThere aren't any problems between you and me, so let's not start any.
I don't think PPL is overrated we are probably the only people that ever thought he would be a beast
ReplyDeleteThe voter map on Blog Polls is pretty cool. Now I know where all of you live.
ReplyDeleteYou can expect your gift basket any day now.
During the Arky long kick return I commented that we were in our lanes and seemed schemed/coached correctly. According to Andy Bitter, Boulware says that we had 7walkons on the field. Here's a paste.
ReplyDeleteOn Arkansas' long kick return last week, Boulware said the team had seven walk-ons on the field. Hoop ...
ReplyDeleteLooked like we had 3 guys around him at the 20 or so ... he gave a little wiggle, and they all fell down as if he had busted out the sleepy gas on them.
Please note that Morgan Hull had two tackles on Saturday -- two more than Antonio Coleman.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a little early in PPL's career to call him 'overrated'. Officially, he's still only halfway through his Freshman year.
ReplyDeleteBitter's blog entry illustrates it perfectly - our special teams problems are almost 100% due to depth. Maybe we should try the TAMU "12th Man" thing that Jackie Sherrill used and get a bunch of intramural guys who's only job is to knock down kick returners.
Fearless...
ReplyDeleteI agree. Do the Hanson brothers from Slap Shot have eligibility remaining? They'd be ideal.
That kick return was frustrating to watch because we had him and momentum, then he got by and took the momentum with him.
ReplyDeleteTulsa cut it to within 7.
ReplyDeleteEhyou ...
ReplyDeleteI love the Hansons.
"Puttin' on the foil, Coach."
Looks like we'll be doing a Q-and-A, huh?
ReplyDeleteEvening
ReplyDeleteLet's play "Caption this pic.."
ReplyDeleteOuch
Sir, I have to confiscate this liquor, it is not allowed in the stadium.
ReplyDeleteFSJ ...
ReplyDelete"It's twue! It's twue!"
A sideline interference call with 2 minutes left in the game. Wow.
ReplyDeleteFollowing an interception, Summers attempts to make a play on the ball.
ReplyDeleteThat was a terrible call.
ReplyDeleteSure would be nice for Boise to go down here
ReplyDeletenot looking good though
ReplyDeleteughh
ReplyDeleteAw, c'mon, Jet, let's start something :) I bet I could take you
ReplyDeleteThat would have been a touchdown
ReplyDeleteIf we're talkin' cornhole ... yeah, definitely.
ReplyDeleteBoise = average at best
ReplyDeleteSaturday, 11:00 am, my tailgate spot... be there or be square
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be football weather on Saturday!!! And NO rain :)
ReplyDeletelooking forward to a sunny day... this rain is ridiculous
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that stinks is that Bama and Auburn are essentially playing at the same time.......again.
ReplyDeleteFSJ, its clear which one you will be watching. Go Tigers.
ReplyDeleteTrue..but I prefer to watch both.
ReplyDeleteAuburn is the only other SEC team that I watch the entire game if they are playing..
Nothing wrong with the two tv setup.
ReplyDeleteCincy ...
ReplyDeleteSadly, I will be in Hoover on Saturday.
Well, not sadly. Stewardess has a band competition ... so I will watch her, then drive back to the house quickly to watch the game.
Slow night on the HABOTN
ReplyDeleteChicken
ReplyDeleteJust kidding, you know I love ya!
HABOTN members must have more of a life than I. Tom is out of town so I have to stay up until I am really sleepy so I don't lie in bed and hear every little noise. I thought I would have some company here.
ReplyDeleteCincy, did you say this was your last tailgate before the condo?
ReplyDeleteKristina,
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Did you see my song earlier? Trust me, you would rather read it than hear me sing it :)
Yes, our plan is to tailgate at our regular spot on Saturday and then hopefully close on the condo before the Ole Miss game.
Aubrey Phillips is gone
ReplyDeletehttp://blog.al.com/auburnbeat/2009/10/aubrey_phillips_departs_but_lb.html
Oh shoot, Cincy, I missed it. I will have to go back and find it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLet's leave the campfires for the evening, eh?
ReplyDeletebgujxrthvr
ReplyDeleteThe morning substance seems to be lacking.
ReplyDeleteWas Aubrey Phillips really ever here?
ReplyDeleteApparently he was here and killed the thread.
ReplyDeleteWhat happened?
ReplyDeletebrent poole
ReplyDeleteFor thise that care, I heard something interesting that I thought I would share. It involves recuiting so skip this if you do not care:

That is all.
Time to get a roof liner repaired.
Interesting, wtc.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you hear/read that?
Hope it's true.
wtc,
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of that. However, not being a recruiting fan I always take the wait and see approach.
"Time to get a roof liner repaired."
ReplyDeleteDoes that have anything to do with our defensive coordinator?
Maybe once you get your roof liner repaired then our D under Ted Roof will improve as well.
Re: the voting map:
ReplyDeleteOkay, I can probably guess most of those (Jackson is Jkev, Ft. Lauderdale is Jhag...), but we have hotties in Kansas? That's like being on a random lake in Alaska when suddenly, a plane with an Auburn flag lands beside you...
I once drove the length of Kansas on the I-70. Missouri never looked so good.
ReplyDeleteI'll say that wtc and I have shared information privately a few times ... and he's been 100% correct each time.
ReplyDeleteSo ... WE'LL DO IT LIVE!
ReplyDelete2 p.m. CDT. Be there or be rectangular.
wtc,
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think of the DL recruits for 2010? All of the talk about the LB position has somewhat taken away from the point that the DL is not as strong it has been in the past.
What wonderful news to wake up to this morning! Auburn football in 2 days!!
ReplyDeleteSnacks,
ReplyDeleteI missed the voting map thing ...what is it and where is it?????
Sorry I'll miss the live event. Scheduled a haircut, not realizing something so important would be happening on a Thursday afternoon!
ReplyDeleteMy issue with the alternate chat format is this: How is it any different than posting in the threads? Jay, why not just say you will be in threadland answering questions at 2:00 this afternoon? Because if it is like the UK chat, the live chat is basically like the comments section but without the cross chatter between Hotties.
ReplyDeletemissinit ... if you click on the "view results" ... then click on the "0" after comments ... you'll see the map.
ReplyDeleteThat's not everyone because we had three voters from LA yesterday afternoon who apparently disappeared.
I'll answer that, Michael, if you eat a magenta crayon and bark like a St. Bernard.
ReplyDeleteYou know, good thing he didn't lay that challenge down for me, Magenta is my favorite crayon flavor and I'm a seasoned vet of the Beethoven movies.
ReplyDeleteI only voted the way I did because of access to the event at my office.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jay G,
ReplyDeleteI love it when I learn something new.
I voted but it didn't register me either....faulty map-o-meter!!!!
I vote again and see what happens...can you vote again????
Participating in Chatroll is just completely impossible for me during the workday so I voted for the other. Aside from that, I wasn't able to keep up at all yesterday and haven't caught up on posts. What's the latest?
ReplyDeleteI bet whoever voted from the Miami area is a real goober.
ReplyDeleteNorm, the US is invading Canada again.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a funny hat Turd.
ReplyDeleteI won't be available at 2 CT, so I did 1 Potato 2 Potato to make my selection.
ReplyDeleteI voted, but it doesn't show me on the map.
ReplyDeleteI won't be here either, but I voted because I wanted to see my little pin on the map. Guess the LA people dropped off because ti only shows the last 50 votes. You must have a bunch of people voting.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't show my vote either! I wanted a little pin on the map :(
ReplyDeletewtc has always supplied us with very accurate updates. Glad to hear that regarding recruitment and hope it fills all our needs.
ReplyDeleteCIncy, since the weather is suppose to be so nice, we are coming down early to enjoy gameday. I'll try to find you. I finally realized where Kristina is, but she won't be there this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI voted last night, but I must have been in the last group of 50
ReplyDelete......it does pay to read the fine print!!! Thanks for that little bit of info cincy, explains why I'm not there.
