First post: Thursday of Week Eight

Hey everyone. Are you still waiting for Paul Finebaum to drop his big scoop on the air? You know the one: It's supposed to damage Auburn and elicit panic attacks from fans as far away as Guam. It's that explosive. It may have to do with Eric Smith. Or maybe it doesn't. Maybe Tuberville snitching to the NCAA?

Don't hold your breath.

People don't reveal scoops until they have them nailed down. For real. So when someone says they have a scoop but will not discuss it, call Sidd Finch, Paul Bunyan or the elusive Yeti for more information.

Radio, in almost all cases, is entertainment. Remember that.

Here's the Auburn situation at this moment:

Question was: What number did Brad Lester wear during the 2007 season?

  4. I hope this thread is going to be a little more positive about the AU Tigers chances to win this weekend :)

If your wifey is aiight with you dining with such a smokin' hot gal, then we'll make it happen, cap'n.

  11. What time is the chat?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jay G ...

I want the dinner at Ye Olde with Layla. Please, please, pretty please.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm gonna have to be rectangular for the 2:00 chat and maybe TNL. Sad, but so it goes.

Cincy, to answer your question from the previous thread, I am indeed heading back to God's Country, aka, the South, aka Tennessee, aka the Noog. I'll be at the Navy Nightmare next week. Holla!

  14. Earthquakes, phantom whistles, missing 21 field goals in a gmae, dumb men in hats with ridiculous play calls.

Weird things happen in Baton Rouge.

    How's that for positive, Cincy?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think Auburn has the chance to win at LSU, they will have to play considerably better. We've seen them play very well at times this year. They will have to play very well for all 60 minutes to beat them.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sean: Who is that Lego figure?

Scottie: I need your wifey's consent form ASAP.

    ReplyDelete
  17. If our offense can have some sustained drives of the 3-5 minute variety or several big plays, I think our defense can hold against LSU. However if the defense has to play 20-25 minutes of the first half, we will be done. MHO.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Jay, the lego figure is just a dude I made. I'm about to re-design.

    I need a new knee.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sensi,
Do you have any Anaprox (a wonderful drug!)? If not, you can take like 3 Aleve. That ought to help with the inflammation, better than Ibuprofen. You can't remember anything you did to injure it? It is beside your knee, not behind it in your calf, right?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Maybe you have knee cancer, Sensi. I would suggest exploratory surgery.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous9:49 AM

Above knee cap on the inside.

Can't think of how I did it. I stood up and it started hurting two days ago. I made an appointment for the doctor tomorrow morning.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous9:52 AM

The pain radiates from the spot above my knee to just below the kneecap and wrapping around to the backside of my knee all on the inside. The outside of my knee doesn't hurt at all. It's very sensitive to touch also if that helps.

    Thanks, Cincy.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Attack Sensi while he's weak.

Someone put him in the figure 4 leglock.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I like the redesign.

    A working-class gangster.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Who's going to the game?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Working class gansta = Michael Bolton from Office Space.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I celebrate his entire collection.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sensi,
Sounds like an MCL injury. Can you remember anytime that you hit the outside of your knee, kind of forcing it in toward your other leg? Could be you had a partial tear and then just the way you stood up could have aggravated it further. Large doses of Naproxen Sodium (Anaprox or Aleve) will help. Keep it elevated like you did last night. Put ice on for 15 minutes every hour. But allow it to warm up the other 45 minutes of the hour. You don't want frostbite in addition!

Disclaimer - I am not a doctor, but I did play a nurse on TV for many years. :)

  30. But, I've never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express

    ReplyDelete
  31. So who is going to the ole miss game?? Looks like i will be there, i'm down with a tailgate and will bring some fresh fish and some softshell crab and stuff like that. If there's an official Hottie meeting locale shoot me a message and let me know.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymous10:18 AM

    Cincy,

Thanks. Eddie told me the same thing (he's injured his before) and a friend at Troy who used to work in sports medicine did as well. I'm going to the doc to make sure I'm in the clear for other issues and will apply ice when I can. Hard to do that at work.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm going, but with the early start, doubt I'll make it in time for any tailgating.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous10:20 AM

I'm not looking at surgery, am I?

I hate going under the knife.

    ReplyDelete
  35. i'm gonna drive up friday night and get all hooked up. Finding it harder to find time to post on the HABOTN, been a very busy summer and off season so far.

    ReplyDelete
  36. My friend, my friend, he's got a knife.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sensi - I hyperextended my knee one time and sprained my mcl. It hurt pretty bad, but I was able to run on it again after about a month.

If you tore it, I think it means surgery, but the mcl surgery is not nearly as serious as the acl one.

  38. BinOBA,
I am planning a party at our new condo, directly across the street from Lowder on Magnolia. We will have breakfast before the game and then grill out or something after the game. We will tailgate on the lawn in front of the condo. Would love for you to come by - and anyone else who is around.

This is provided everything goes according to my plan and we close on Wed or Thurs next week. I wish everyone moved according to my schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous10:30 AM

If I completely tore it, my knee would fold inwards, right?

It's not doing that, so I think I'm in the clear there.

    I hope so at least.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sensi,
If you can't recall a specific time you injured it, it is probably just a sprain. Rest, ice and Anaprox should do the trick. Hopefully doc can tell you tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous10:34 AM

Good deal, Cincy. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. We should have an "Ask Doctor Cincy" time on the HABOTN. Except that Cincy isn't a doctor.

    ReplyDelete
  43. We can play, ask Nurse Cincy. That sounds sexier anyway :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous10:51 AM

Two thumbs to that idea! Woo hoo!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am mainly posting just to show off my new short-term avatar. However, I think Cincy needs a "Nurse Cincy" avatar now.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Mom's are nurses without pay

  48. Hello from Ooltewah. I'm on the home stretch now.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ask Nurse Cincy - yeah that'll do!!!

  50. Scott Choc,
Love the avatar. Can you make that into candy?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Cincy, I'm sure we could!

I just received a text update that CB Harry Adams was dismissed from the team.

Have any of you heard this?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Anonymous11:30 AM

D & b now confirm this though they are a radio show. I will wait for confirm by Jay G.

This is interesting. Allegedly, it was for a violation of team rules and is not a suspension, but a dismissal.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Goodbye Harry Adams, we hardly knew ya.

    ReplyDelete
  55. P. Marshall is confirming it as well, and it's a dismissal, not a suspension.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sensi,

The best therapy for an injury is to inject steroids directly into the injury.

Seriously, knee injuries suck. I had a partial tear on my patella tendon once. Never fun. Hopefully yours isn't too bad.

Still, juice, lots of juice injected directly into the knee.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Sensi, I recommend that you inject Kool-Aid.

    ReplyDelete
  58. hooray for increasing losses to defensive depth!

    Harry, what gives homes? geez.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Geez Scottie, he broke team rules. Is that not a good enough description.

    ReplyDelete
  60. How nervous was P Marsh when pushing the "submit" button on this dismissal story?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Isn't Harry the guy everyone claims is really really fast?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Anonymous11:52 AM

HA was in the FAH club.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Note to recruits:

Come to Auburn for playing time and most any jersey number you would like. Plenty of both available.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Anonymous11:56 AM

I read something the other day where Alabama now had three guys wearing #10.

    Talk about oversigning.

    ReplyDelete
  65. ESPN still goofs and gives Wes Byrum the stats for Kodi Burns after Burns runs a play.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anonymous12:00 PM

So, that's 25 players on defense now that'll dress?

    Great.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anonymous12:02 PM

Reputable Print Resource now confirms H Adams' dismissal as well.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Maybe the Harry Adams dismissal was the breaking news that Finebaum was going to expose.

Based on vicious rumors blowing, does anyone think this is drug related.

I have to believe he had a major screw up to get dismissed and not suspended.

Chisik is a class act; but, also one that would give a kid a second chance if he thought the situation warranted it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Harry Adams was Tommy Tuberville's mole. We'll hear all about it on Finebaum.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anonymous12:19 PM

    Can't wait

    ReplyDelete
  71. Anonymous12:33 PM

Too bad about Adams. Bad timing... Any kid with his speed has promise.

AU has had few dismissals until this past year. Is that just an ugly coincidence?... a clash of personalities with the new staff?, or stricter standards?

The guys that were dismissed this summer and Adams were at AU for 2 full years seemingly without any issues and now.....issues.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Anonymous12:36 PM

    "stricter standards"

Very fair assessment. From everything I've heard, that is true.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hoopie, there's generally some attrition with any new coaching staff. I think Chiz has done it the right way, whereas Kiffin up in Knoxville has run off players almost to spite them (QB B.J. Coleman comes to mind).
