Whew...can I come to the game in my blue pajamas?

    ReplyDelete
  3. but only in the AP poll.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Dang it, FSJ! Can you at least give it a minute between posts?

How about a blue Snuggy? Have you bought a houndstooth one yet?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Another morning game but that probably won't make any difference if they don't get there heads in the game.
Hope they get it straightened out.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Anonymous12:05 PM

    LOL Scott...no houndstooth Snuggy...

    ReplyDelete
  7. I never thought I'd say this, but King Dunlap played in an NFL game yesterday. The Eagles LT went down with an injury and King took the field.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I'm betting that a houndstooth Snuggy would make somebody a lot of money.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Anonymous12:06 PM

I also saw where Antoine Odom tore his achilles tendon yesterday. He was having a good season in the NFL...

    ReplyDelete
  10. Anonymous12:09 PM

Ok..I just found a small piece of wood in my salad from Taziki's....WTH?

    ReplyDelete
  11. If I had had Snuggys of any color at my son's baseball game last night, I could have sold them for probably double the regular price. It was cold out there!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Anonymous12:10 PM

It was pretty darn cold Saturday night in Tuscaloosa...You would have made a fortune there too...no matter the color.

    ReplyDelete
  13. OK let's blame it on the wind and cold.
Auburn is coming out smoking in Ba tone ruge!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well this start time certainly changes my opinion of our chances...

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sean, good or bad?

    ReplyDelete
  16. so, an 11:21 NAVY NIGHTMARE? hhmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Anonymous12:16 PM

When's the last time Auburn played well before noon?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Last time I can think of was the 32-0 win over Miss State a couple of years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  19. wasn't the UGA game last year an 11:30 kick?

    ReplyDelete
  20. we're 0-5 in the last 5 games played in daylight of any kind. I say it's time to nip that streak in the bud.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anonymous12:17 PM

I like the 11:20 start or whatever it is if we are playing a nobody and there are other good games that day...

But Ole Miss/AU should be on at a better time, IMO

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anonymous12:18 PM

    Think so Scottie.

    ReplyDelete
  23. i was there FSJ so i should know. it was still daylight when it ended.

  25. Well, if nothing else, the Kentucky game proved that the Arkansas game can't be blamed on 11:00 kick off. Bring on Johnny Reb at dawn.

We beat Southern Miss last year at 11:30.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Kickoff time doesn't matter...preparation, execution, talent, hard work and sometimes luck win football games no matter what time the kickoff.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Rini appears to have Feng in the looks department.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous12:23 PM

I've always been one that thought that a game before noon hurts the home team more than the away team. I know Alabama never seems to play well at that time either.

    ReplyDelete
  29. i thought that too FSJ. sure didn't bother Arkansas, though.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well at least those folks with children that live close to Auburn can get home in time for the trick-or-treating. I noticed no mention of ESPN2. Does the SEC Network have first choice before them?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'm delighted with the early kickoff, it means I can finally go to a game. And if we lose to LSU the tickets should be cheap.

Already looking for a silver lining.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Anonymous12:29 PM

Arkansas people are weird...Can't count them.. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Todd Observation:

Last year when Todd's shoulder was hurt, he was continuously flexing his shoulder when he was on the field. As an old QB & Pitcher, I knew that was a sign that his shoulder/arm was hurting or at least not comfortable. I have not seen him flex that shoulder on the field this year until Sat. nite against UK. That makes me begin to question his shoulder. Still has some zip on the ball but something may not feel right. I do think the wind had some play into the deep balls early in the game.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous12:36 PM

Sometimes weagle cold weather can affect your arm too...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anonymous12:40 PM

Jay's sidekick Josh Moon was on a roll this morning in his column.

    ReplyDelete
  36. That is true FSJ but it shouldn't be an issue once you have stretched and warmed up.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Since Jet's not here to give me grief about it...I would have rather seen Kodi run the offense last Saturday than Todd.

    ReplyDelete
  38. "For one reason that, we can make better together. "

Rini, are you coming on to Jay? You know he's married, right? You can't just come here with your seductive picture and sub-toddler English skills and try to be some home wrecker, you understand?!

On the other hand, FSJ, while married, would probably entertain your offers.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Anonymous1:12 PM

    lol michael....

    I can not be tempted.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Marcus Lattimore is gonna be there for this one, I really wanted him to see the night game environment

    ReplyDelete
  41. Slow day at HABOTN central...where are da Hotties @?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh, OK FSJ. It's just that you are a bammer hanging out at HABOTN, so it just seemed that you had a history of cheating on your program at least. Didn't know if that tendency was manifested elsewhere.

In other news, check out this article on facebook thieves:

    http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/10/19/social.networking.crimes/index.html

Check out the profile picture of the example of a thief in the article. Isn't it pretty obvious that he is shady? Why are people still making friends with him and being deceived?!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm here and there today.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I finally get to watch a 2009 AU game in HD!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Boxhead, it appears that your link has been stolen. "Page Not Found".

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hmph... works for me still. Make sure there are no spaces in the address when you copy and paste.

It was on the front page of cnn.com when I sent it, so it might still be there. I would post a hyperlink, but the reason I wear the Scarlett M is because of my refusal to do so. I have grown fond of the M.

    ReplyDelete
  47. SCoats, I hope that works out better for you than for me. AU is 1-2 this year when I watch on the high def. HD didn't make the losses look any better!

    ReplyDelete
  48. The picture will be crisp, even if Todd's passes aren't.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Jet is resting comfortably in an undisclosed Montgomery area hospital after collapsing at approximately 1 p.m.

Montgomery firemedics reported a call to the RSA Tower, where Jet's office is located.

Upon arrival, Jet was semi-conscious and mumbling "RK wanted Kodi" repeatedly. He slipped into unconsciousness and was transported to a hospital, where he subsequently regained consciousness.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hey, Jet's Dr, can I have Jet's stereo if he doesn't come out of this? You can check with the family if you need to. I'll wait.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anonymous1:52 PM

I would like to request Jet's collection of AUsome pins from the Terry Bowden era.

    ReplyDelete
  52. can i have the AUdacity one?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Can I get the AUful one from the 1998 season?

    To Jet's Family,

It's my fault, I did it. You are welcome.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Y'all laugh, but I have all those pins. Well, not the AUful one, but the others :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Scott, why is your kid playing baseball in December?

    ReplyDelete
  56. So who gets Jet's Ring of Fire spot? What is the custom, wait for 2 days after death before letting someone take over the spot?

    ReplyDelete
  57. PDWT - Fall Ball. It runs from mid-September - early November. The late season games and practices sometimes involve frostbite, just like the early season in spring baseball. By the way, you have just inspired me to install WT pockets in the Snuggies that I am going to be marketing at the ballpark!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Give it to Kodi. Jet's got a dead arm.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Jay,

    1. I assume Mike McNeil is not coming back this year

    2. Does Aaron Savage even try for a extra year of eligibility?

    3. Who do you think the best walk on is this year?

    4. So much has been discussed of Eltoro Freeman not adjusting well, what about Demond Washington and Nick Fairley, two other juco players, your thoughts on them?

    5. Did Antonio Coleman make a mistake coming back this year?>

    ReplyDelete
  60. Communicating through Morse Code by blinking, Jet has indicated that, should he not recover, he is leaving is stereo to Michael, his AU pins to Scottie. To FSJ, he's leaving his "HabitUAl Offender" pin. Having said that, he is expected to make a full recovery unless RK endorses Kodi as the new quarterback.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Jim Nantz has a 29-year old girlfriend, who wasn't even alive when he and his wife started dating? Awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Kodi for Qb
    Kodi for QB
    Kodi for QB

    ReplyDelete
  63. Decisions decisions.

Do I put Jet out of his misery and endorse Kodi, but by doing that I go against my best instincts as to what is best for Auburn football?

    or

Do I go with my instincts and hope Todd can snap out of it or if not Caudle/Trotter can get the job done and just live with Jet being on here with his tomfoolery and lies.

    Tough decisions on my part.

    ReplyDelete
  64. pete, i read that, i wonder if in his divorce proceedings his talks on the stand in his Augusta National voice.

    ReplyDelete
  65. There is a stereo in play for me, rk. So just try to focus on how smoothly Kodi ran the wildcat this last weekend. And remember how many stars he had coming out of high school? Think of the potential! And think what it would do for team chemistry if Kodi, the same guy who made the preseason speech that helped us go 5-0, all of a sudden became the QB who helped turn this season around. ESPN would give us endless media coverage that would help raise the profile of Auburn and maybe land some huge recruits.

    So rk: vote Kodi!!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. While in theory I support you Michael, and RK, I understand your conundrum. You all know how I feel about Jet - his untimely demise is my fondest wish. I do think I should make you aware of this film. To my knowledge, aside from myself only one other person saw this movie and that person also went to school with Jet and I. So, consider yourselves forewarned:

    Can Jet pull this off?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anonymous2:51 PM

    Jim Nantz has been creepin?

    ReplyDelete
  68. I am sorry RK, Norm, and Michael. My smiling visage is back.

I had hoped to touch the hem of Tebow's garment and be healed.

But he circumcised me instead. Which was painful since I didn't have any anasthesia, and I had been previously circumcised. Either way, it jarred me from my semi-conscious state.

For the record, I have no "AU" pins. I haven't had a stereo in years. But my tomfoolery will endure.

Until you've had an assault rifle with blanks fired at you by a high school classmate, you haven't lived. Or wet yourself in a major league way.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Cue Jim Nantz ...

    "Adultery.

    A tradition unlike any other."

    ReplyDelete
  70. There is no greater honor than being recircumcised by Tim Tebow. Congrats, Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Jet - while I haven't had a blank filled assault rifle fired at me (I have absolutely no doubt who pulled that trigger); M.L., a friend from another high school and I were fired on from a moving vehicle by some ruffians who attended that big school on Carter Hill. I can't verify it, but I believed then and still do that there were no blanks in that gun.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Is that what he does on all those mission trips? He's probably extremely unpopular in several different countries by now.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Wow, got passed in Virgina by a mini-Cooper deckedin Auburn magnets and flags. What are the odds?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Man, if I had a mini, I would totally fly Auburn flags from it.

    ReplyDelete
  75. If I had a Mini, I either wouldn't be able to get in or get out.

    ReplyDelete
  76. What kind of pick-up line do you think Nantz used?

I picture him standing at the bar, wearing a green jacket, ordering a round of drinks for young women, and saying, "A night in Jim Nantz's bed. A tradition like no other."

    ReplyDelete
  77. Anonymous3:34 PM

Nantz probably asked it she wanted to go tour Amen Corner...

    ReplyDelete
  78. Well at least I can attend my Halloween party stress free now

    ReplyDelete
  79. Anonymous3:36 PM

    What u going as jhag?

    ReplyDelete
  80. have no idea yet, what say you?

    ReplyDelete
  81. "Nantz testified that early in their marriage his wife would accompany him to all the major sporting events he worked around the country. But that ended and he complained she showed no support for his career.

"In 2004, I got the Man of the Year award from the New York Athletic Club. Rudy Giuliani had been the previous year's winner and it really meant a lot to me," he said, his eyes welling with tears. "My mother flew in from Houston, but Lorrie wasn't there." Nantz said he was given an oil portrait of himself at the dinner, but Lorrie wouldn't let him hang it in their Westport home. "It ended up in a warehouse," he lamented.
    ....
"Jim often boasted that Caroline (the daughter) had more frequent flyer miles than most adults," she said. However, when their daughter turned 2 and began preschool, Lorrie Nantz said she decided her traveling days were over.
    ....
The trial over, Lorrie Nantz stood in the lobby of the courthouse sobbing. Stepping from the elevator her husband saw her standing there alone and walked over and put his arms around her.

Together they stood, arms wrapped around each other, sobbing."

  82. With Verne Lundquist as your wing man bellowing, "Yes SIR!" and "In your life! ... Have you ever seen anything like this?!" ... really, how can the women resist?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Anonymous3:44 PM

Speaking of Verne..did anybody hear him ask Saturday if the pass where the Arkansas player fumbled going into the end zone would be ruled incomplete even though the guy had run forty yards?

I couldn't believe it until somebody showed it to me online..

    ReplyDelete
  84. I eard it live, FSJ. I like good ole Verne though, so I give him a pass.

    Oh my!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I heard it FSJ. I was hysterical with laughter.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I heard that, FSJ. Pretty funny!

    ReplyDelete
  87. What should jhag be for Halloween

    ReplyDelete
  88. Anonymous3:50 PM

I think you should somehow become 5'7 and go as Nick Saban..

You could dye your hair...say "aight" fifty times a minute and cuss randomly.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Anonymous3:51 PM

and practice the Saban bump rule on the ladies that night...of course.

    ReplyDelete
  90. well since i'm 6'4 uhhhhhh

    ReplyDelete
  91. I heard that live too.

My favorite over the weekend goes to Dave Neal:

"You know when you see Uga, you know it's Georgia football".

    ReplyDelete
  92. If you're lucky, jhag, that lady that met Saban at the airport will be there.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Buy the illegal alien costume (an ET lookalike thing) with the green card that the politically correct crowd is complaining about.

    ReplyDelete
  94. 1. Verne
    2. Dave
    3. Jesse Palmer's "They're a defense that likes to get off the field on 3rd down."
    4. Chris Fowler's "Cincinnati rushes three and drops nine into coverage."

    ReplyDelete
  95. Anonymous3:54 PM

Or if you are unlucky..the lady that Mike Price met will be there..

    "It's rollin baby...It's rollin!"

    ReplyDelete
  96. Jet,

So I see you're hanging around. This might take some time getting rid of you, but to the people who support me, it's all part of the process.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Anonymous3:57 PM

RK...you even speak like Saban with your talk of "the process".......

    ReplyDelete
  98. Anonymous3:59 PM

    Jet...

I love stupid things people say on air....

A newscaster in Birmingham a few years ago was describing a grisly crime scene where someone was shot multiple times...and he said "the authorities believe it could be murder.."

    Well no kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  99. The announcers on the U that had the AU game have to had something quotable. They were pretty bad. I do remember Huard using the phrase "Dial up" about 5 or 6 times. Everything the coaches did was "dialed up".

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hmmm, "have to had" is not very quotable.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Anonymous4:04 PM

Stuart Scott and Chris Berman are the two worst things to happen to sports announcers as a whole.

Now everyone thinks they have to essentially be a comedy skit.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I liked Berman when I was 10, but at 33 he's not quite as entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I'm old school. Dan Patrick, Keith Olberman, Kenny Mayne, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Rich Eisen was cool too.

    ReplyDelete
  105. RK,

Like Kudzu and herpes, I'm forever.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Anonymous4:15 PM

I used to like Craig Kilborne too.

I liked Patrick and Olberman too.... (on ESPN)

    ReplyDelete
  107. "Would that be an incomplete pass" Verne Lundquist on the Childs fumble on the 1

One of the dumbest things said by a play by play announcer ever!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. I think Mark Jones' "he was pushed out of bounds at the 84 yard line" during the West Virginia game is the best of the year so far.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Patrick and Olberman were my favorite Sportscenter duo, but I Mayne, Van Pelt and Kilbourne were all good.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I liked he and Danielson tried to move on and pretend it didn't happen. I can imagine the glance Gary shot Verne when he said that.

I vote for Gus Johnson to eventually replace Verne. That guy brings it every day of the week. Doesn't have a lot of college football gravitas, but I'll let it slide.

    ReplyDelete
  111. A few of the current SC guys are good (I like the LA crew), Van Pelt is great, but I liked ESPN back in the mid to late 90s before it became a caricature of itself.

Sportscenter commercials never get old, though.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Gus Johnson sometimes gets a bit too excited, but he is good.

He also does MMA on CBS.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Gus gets way too excited, but it never gets old. He called that Denver Broncos-Cincinnati Bengals game earlier this year where the Broncos won on the long, tipped pass, so you can imagine the gusto with which he deliverd his commentary.

    Here's the call.

    ReplyDelete
  114. After Verne's miscue on Saturday -- and I'm a big fan -- I'm beginning to think he might have one foot in the gravitas.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Per al.com ... Jon Solomon blog ... SEC fesses up on unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Arkansas ... dodges on the pass interference calls.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Both were bad and it assumes alot to think Arkansas wins regardless, but the unsportsmanlike personal foul was as worse, if not more, than the A.J. Green/Charles Scott. The guy was playing football. The play wasn't over, some guy tried to block him and he did his job and just shed the block.

The PI call was bad too, but PI calls are blown every game.

    ReplyDelete
  117. FSJ ...

I learned today that Jefferson Countians are not in the jury pool for the Langford trial, which increases the likelihood for a conviction, but I'm a cynic that says I'll believe it when I see it.

    ReplyDelete
  118. All these announcers and no one has mentioned Keith Jackson?

The way he used to call Iron Bowls was the best there will ever be.

    ReplyDelete
  119. The Man at work - 1985 Iron Bowl

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dr5t2h61pBE

This was the game that taught me as a child that hearts can break...

    ReplyDelete
  120. KJ did the 2002 Auburn-USC game in LA and I was up in the pressbox before the game right next to the ABC booth and I could hear him going over gamenotes aloud with his distincitve voice and just thought, holy crap, that's Keith Jackson.

    It was a nice moment.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Keith Jackson is my favorite announcer of all time on all stations. He is the best.

    ReplyDelete
  122. This is called 'Come Fall'

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQ_4wSujsU8

    Pure. Poetry.

    ReplyDelete
  123. cincy - you are correct. Nobody can top Keith Jackson.

Well, Lindsey Nelson could have given him a run for his money.

I hate morning games. I don't get to Auburn nearly enough, and morning games cut a huge chunk of time out of my pre-game loitering on campus and in town.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I still hear Keith Jackson and Frank Broyles covering the Iron Bowl in the 80's.

I always considered Jackson a closet Bama fan. Am I just paranoid?

Ron Franklin is a classic college football voice buried by ESPN. SEC night games aren't the same without him. Tragic.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Keith Jackson loved the Bear, no doubt. But he was fair.

Keith and Frank were the greatest pair ever. It sounded like two old guys on the porch talkin' football.

    Whoa, Nellie.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I have to say, I loved Franklin and Gottfired on Saturday nights in the fall on ESPN. But I'm warming pretty well to Blackledge and Nessler together. I've always like Blackledge, but wasn't crazy about Mike Patrick, but I like Nessy.

He lives in Atlanta, has called SEC basketball games for years. He gets it when it comes to the SEC.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Nessler and Blackledge are good. Getting Griese and MacGuire away from Nessler was a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  128. AUFan - I agree; I really like Ron Franklin. I wish he was paired with Todd Blackledge in prime time.

    ReplyDelete
  129. THT- I agree 100%. Franklin and Blackledge would be great together.

Jesse Palmer, on the other hand, makes me hunt the mute button on my remote.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Ron Franklin, I thought, used to take potshots at Tuberville, which bothered me at the time.

For some reason, it doesn't bother me as much as it used to.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Jet,

An evil midget who describes himself as "humble and forgiving."

    ReplyDelete
  133. Hating on announcers is one of my favorite things to do. 5 worst, not limited to CFB:

    1. Bill Raftery
    2. Joe Buck
    3. Tim McCarver
    4. Paul McGuire
    5. Billy Packer

    ReplyDelete
  134. Nova...
    That's great...truly great.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Tyrik Rollison said on facebook "My time is around the corner"

    Interesting

    ReplyDelete
  136. Anonymous6:16 PM

I think Tyrik's corner is in the spring, but I could be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Spongebob just stuffed a pinata with deviled eggs.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I would be shocked if Rollison didn't redshirt. We would basically be waisting half a season of his elligibility.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Anonymous6:44 PM

They made an Astro Boy movie?!

    ReplyDelete
  140. AUfan ...

    Yes, you are correct.

I know, I know. It's his "raftery-isms". I roll my eyes about a thousand times during his games. (they're not in order, Joe Buck would be at the top)

  142. I'm with Jet.

    ONIONS!!

  143. Raftery's energy sounds forced to me. I used to really dislike him, but now I don't mind him.

  144. Interesting CBS report on the murder of Steve McNair.

  145. It's the 3 octaves rise in his voice that really do it to me.

LOL....Tennessee supposedly requested to wear orange jerseys this weekend and Saban told them no..

I didn't even know that you could do that...

    ReplyDelete
  148. I've always wanted to tell LSU they can't wear white at home and make them wear purple so we could wear our whites. I don't understand why they get to change the rules.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Mind games!!

FSJ, nice long interview with Nick Satan on Low's blog todoay.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Would this staff actually burn Rollison's redshirt right now???? That is the rumor of the hour. Shall be interesting to see.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I don't mind wearing the home unis at LSU. It never quite looks right, but I realize the white jerseys are a big part of the LSU legacy, so I don't begrudge them for doing what they do.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Anonymous7:47 PM

Home team has the choice of color or white.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Nova- Home team does not have the choice, they have to have approval from the away team to wear white.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Anonymous7:50 PM

I could see them burning the redshirt if they are giving up on this season and want him experienced for next.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Bro- That facebook quote is correct and it seems to be gaining ground. I'm curious to see.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Eddie,
I thought that was right, but I didn't want to say because I wasn't for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Nova- When you say giving up on Season....what is there left to play for than maybe a little bit better bowl?

    ReplyDelete
  158. Are y'all hearing anything about Rollison aside from his facebook quote?

    ReplyDelete
  159. How's West Virginia? How's the weather?

    ReplyDelete
  160. Anonymous7:53 PM

Isn't that all there ever is to play for? That and pride.

    ReplyDelete
  161. Maybe it's misdirection from Tyrik for LSU. :)

If it's legit, then the curtain is closing on the Chris Todd era and they have absolutely no confidence in Caudle or Trotter to see out the year.

    Hopefully it's a rouse.

    ReplyDelete
  162. West Virginia is.....cold. Always seems to be that way when I come up here.

Rollison playing this season has pluses and negatives. It means they don't have any confidence in Chris Todd and also do not want to have a QB controversy heading into Spring Practice meaning they want Tyrik to be the guy next season and don't want to risk there being another long drawn out affair. It also means the believe the other QB's on the roster that are not freshman suck in their opinion. We shall see. The fact that Tyrik posted this means that it didn't come from the coaches. Could Tyrik be playing a rouse, yes, but that would be giving Tyrik way more credit than he probably deserves. I think he is probably getting a big look right now at the QB spot. Chizik would never say that he intended to RS Rollison. He said it looked to be heading that way, but never came out and said that he was indeed being redshirted meaning he was always willing to play this card if necessary, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Burning Rollison's redshirt at this point would be insane. Surely they won't. If they do, I will start vomiting Coosa-aid and it will take a long time to get it out of my system.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I agree Coosa. Burning his redshirt now, seven games in, essentially means he'll have less than a three and a half year college career.

I'm not so sure I wouldn't rather just go 6-6.

    ReplyDelete
  165. The only way Rollison sees action this year is if Todd's shoulder is hurt again.

    ReplyDelete
  166. But wouldn't it make sense to burn his redshirt and let him get some good game time experience this year? So what if he has a full four years but has to spend the first half of next year getting experience. I'm no expert by a long shot, but I do see some advantages to going ahead and starting him now.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Anonymous8:06 PM

I think they wanted Tyrik in the fall but he just didn't have time to get up to speed.

If he is as advertised there may not be any advantage to saving the redshirt. Players with pro potential tend to leave early. The philosophy seems to be to use em while you've got em.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Nova- I don't think it was because Tyrik wasn't so much up to speed as it was how good Chris Todd had looked in practice. The staff thought they could win this season with Todd. If Todd had not looked good, I think Tyrik would have been the starter by now. That's just my opinion. You could be right.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Even if he plays now, he'll still be on a learning curve next year. I don't think five or six games means he'll be good to go next year. Jordan Jefferson at LSU is proof of that (and I'm sure now that I've said that, he'll burn us big time this week).

    ReplyDelete
  170. Anonymous8:10 PM

I'm not campaigning for Rollison, I just don't see burning the redshirt as a huge problem.

I doubt we'll win many more with a freshman QB, but I have little confidence we'll win many more as it is now.

    ReplyDelete
  171. I'm not a coach, though. If coaches thinks it benefits us in the short-term and long term, who am I to argue. In Gus (and Chiz) I trust. I guess we'll learn a good bit more tomorrow and see if this rumor has some legs.

Be interesting to see what JayG or wtc had to say about this.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Anonymous8:15 PM

He'd be 5 (or 6) games further on learning curve and would have gone up against some of the toughest teams in the SEC.

They could also see if he's really who they want or if they need to open the competition in the spring.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Anonymous8:16 PM

I agree on that. I trust Chiz and Gus on this one.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Are we speculating because of a facebook status, or is there more evidence? If Todd is injured, I don't mind burning his redshirt. Playing time. That's what these kids want. Losing does not help recruitment. Doing what you have to do to win, or plan for the future, does.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Anonymous8:21 PM

I don't know if there is anything more to the rumor than the facebook thing. It's interesting to speculate on though.

    ReplyDelete
  176. If this coaching staff recruits like they seem like they will be able to, then in 3 years we'll have someone there to replace Rollison...so if he helps us now more than the others, play him.

    ReplyDelete
  177. I agree with RK and my Bro meaning that if Gus and Chizik think he helps, then play him, if not, keep him in the garage till next season.

Rollison Express back on track???? We shall see.....

yes yes yes yes yes yes

    ReplyDelete
  181. With all the stuff last week about facebook and players I wonder if TR is in the doghouse now?

    ReplyDelete
  182. If and that is a big IF CT arm is giving him problems I am all for it. With CT and a bummed arm it is like slowly dying and knowing there is nothing you can do about it

    ReplyDelete
  183. Storm- We want a winner not a looser!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  184. Anonymous8:45 PM

We want what's best for the team Storm. Is that Todd, Rollison, Caudle, Trotter or Burns?

Todd is definitely having a problem whether it's in his arm or his head.

    ReplyDelete
  185. All I know is it sucks to sit there in the cold and think SHIT here we go again!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  186. The question would have to be IF this staff (WHICH I DO LIKE AND STAND BEHIND) will make a change if a change needs to be made!

    ReplyDelete
  187. I just posted on facebook that my time is coming. For some reason it has not stirred up much of anything
