BLAWGIN' FER YER NAWGIN: Gene Chizik speaks

Hey everyone. Let's boogie.

  • He arrived at 11:34. Four minutes late.

  • On being good in the zone de red: ``Down there, we have executed well. Gus does a great job. We have been productive when we get down there. Hopefully we'll have another great plan. It'll be more difficult this week than most weeks to get it in the end zone."

  • On last year's film: ``You want to look at it and see what went on. Uh, 36-0 was the final result. There were opportunities in the game that were missed. That's pretty much what you see. Alabama did a great job. Both teams were physical. When you get in these rivalries, the physical nature of the game has to be on both sides of the ball. Alabama's not going to try to trick anybody. They're going to do what they do -- and try to be more physical."

  • This year's matchup: ``We've had our moments when we played physical football. We've had times when we didn't."

  • On players talking about 2008's game: ``We're not living in the past. This is a new time, a different year. This game won't be any different in terms of the fact that we have to do what we do better than what they do. Last year's game? We've moved on."

  • On if he's worried about players dwelling on the 2008 game: "I didn't worry about the players when they were asked (early in the season) if things were going south because of what happened last year."

  • What's at stake for Auburn?: ``Anytime you're playing a rivalry game, it has th epotential to have a bearing on recruiting. We're trying to prepare ourselves for a better bowl game. There's a lot to play for. This game is not an obligation; it's a privilege ... to play in. Somebody's going to do something, it'll go down in the record books and will never be forgotten. Happens every year."

  • On the crispness of Auburn's offense: ``We feel like we need a fast start. The crispness of our offense potentially plays a role in that. We know we need to start fast."

  • On Ben Tate saying he's the state's best back: ``I'm sure that it was very innocent. I wasn't there. I didn't hear it. Ben is a confident guy. He's also very complimentary of others. He was very complimentary of Mark as well. People can make that into what they want. Do I want all of our players to have confidence? Absolutely."

  • Does Alabama have a championship team?: ``They have players. They're one of the teams that's a viable option to play in that game. I haven't seen everybody else out there. I don't know. I don't know who to compare them to."

  • On Antonio Coleman: ``You've seen a better player over the last three weeks to a month. He was basically playing with one hand. For a defensive linemen, that's a tough situation. Never complained. Just worked hard. He's come along and improved every week. He's overcome a lot of things this year, injury-wise, to contribute to our team."

  • That's a wrap.

  2. HATE HATE HATE

    GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  3. His first lines should be:

"First off, let me say this is an important week. We hate those inbred hicks more than you'd ever imagine."

    ReplyDelete
  4. Coach Chizik, what is the worst thing you can say about this Alabama team?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Coach Chizik, if this Alabama team were a jelly bean, what flavor would it be?

    ReplyDelete
  6. that would be black licorice (sp?) HATE SFC.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Coach Chizik, can you list the number of players that have been day-by-day this season?

    ReplyDelete
  8. great photo, btw, Mr TATE

    ReplyDelete
  9. i like lemons. especially from Toomer's.

    ReplyDelete
  10. The four minutes late that he arrived where four mins he took for personal hate time to get ready for the presser.

My skull hurts today, I place the blame on Bama and hate them even more for it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Coach Chizik, have you noticed the direct correspondence with the performance of the Auburn football team and the economy?

    ReplyDelete
  12. word of the day: physical

    ReplyDelete
  13. So who killed the "do what we do" phrase from earlier this year?

    ReplyDelete
  14. at the HABOTN, we DWWD....HATE.

    you're welcome RK.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I wish I could have moved on. I'm still in deep depression from last year.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Coach Chizik, what is the nicest thing you can say about Paul Finebaum?

    ReplyDelete
  17. This week I hope the Tigers do what they do when they win.

I have noticed the connection between Auburn football and the economy, Steve. The tiders aught to be hoping they lose so they can sell those Mercedes to us Auburn folk.

What is the plural of Mercedes?

    ReplyDelete
  18. That's a wrap. Thirteen minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  19. i was just only 5 years old when we ended Bama's 9 year streak over us. it was so nice for 6 years having our own streak. it's killing me we've only lost one. i don't know how they handled the 6.

    HATE.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh well, that was "eventful".

    ReplyDelete
  21. Works for me, THT!

Gotta go eat....Hotties, keep doin' what you do.

    ReplyDelete
  22. he doesn't have time to talk. he's gotta get ready. go Chiz go!

    ReplyDelete
  23. OK....hotties, gonna have some lunch and then set up the Tailgate of Hate. Later....

    ReplyDelete
  24. I was 6 in 1982 when we ended their streak, so 90-92 was the longest streak I had to deal with as a fan, and that was way to long.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Coach Chizik, in previous games you have mentioned execution will be important. Do you feel it will be important in this game, too?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I read somewhere that UT has a 24 game winning streak over Kentucky. Talk about streaks. That is incredible. It looks like UT would have at least pulled one Miles during those years.

    ReplyDelete
  27. UT is something like 1,000-4 in November due to playing Memphis, KY and Vandy almost every November.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anyone know the atmosphere in Georgia and whether Mark Richt is safe? After the loss to Kentucky, I would think the head hunters would be up in arms. He is the coach I consider most likely to be given the opportunity to find other employment.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anonymous12:02 PM

If execution is so important, think CGC would take requests from the crowd on who goes first?

I think a Les Mis, Paris Uprising theme would be a good vibe for the Iron Bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  30. i'm all for public executions.

    pickin' off Bammers one-by-one.

    HATE.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anonymous12:07 PM

Steve, I've heard he's ok this year if he makes wholesale staffing changes. Who knows though? If he loses to GT, it could be all over.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Richt is safe for now. He has to make staff changes, but they will give him a chance to fix his problems.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think Georgia looses badly to Georgia Tech. Things will get ugly over there.

Meanwhile, here in South Carolina, we is impeaching our governor for associating with a foreign hoochie on the state dollar, or something like that. I may be paraphrasing a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  34. What's a Richt? What's Georgia? What's a governor? All my thoughts are focused squarely on HATE. I HATE UA-T!!!

    GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!

    WARRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Michael, that's blasphemy!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous12:24 PM

Don't make me go all puppet on your a$$ michael. If that is really your name...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Michael, what color of feathers do you prefer?

    ReplyDelete
  38. What are you guys talking about? What'd I do?

    ReplyDelete
  39. michaela is just trying to get us to channel our deepest, darkest HATE. it's all good.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Blindside was a pretty good movie

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous12:33 PM

Rosie is a conundrum ..he may or may not be a puppet, but we've established that he is not a Bammer.

Can a properly Bammer Hatin' puppet be allowed?

Micheal ...sorry to add to your confusion. BTW don't EVER say those words again.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anonymous12:34 PM

...hag, that's what I've heard also. I read the book, but won't get to see the movie until next week.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous12:36 PM

...hag, is your alcohol-related suspension over?

    ReplyDelete
  44. I can confirm also that The Blind Side is a good movie. My hot wife, daughter and I went to see it last night. Thumbs up all around.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Norm, i HATE that you got to see Blind Side and i had to see New Moon. grrr.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anonymous12:42 PM

I'm going to see Blind Side tonight. I'm looking forward to it. Scottie... man up. New Moon?

    ReplyDelete
  47. I am truly frightened at how many of my friends went to see New Moon...

    ReplyDelete
  48. RF, counting the iron bowl i have been to 9 of AU's 12 games this season. New Moon is the least i could do for my wife.

i fought it for a long time, though. it makes her happy so you do what ya gotta do.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Michael!!!!

Never put those two words together again!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh come on, Kristeenih. We all know you are a Twilight Fan. I'll bet you are Team Edward, aren't you?

    ReplyDelete
  51. What words rk? I really don't know what anyone is talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  52. What is new moon and does it have anything to do with a buttocks hanging out a window?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Steve, up until last Thursday, I didn't know what it was either.

    ReplyDelete
  54. .... can I talk again yet, Krustiinnuh? Why are you so scared of everyone finding out how much you love moody heartthrob vampires?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Stewardess and Mrs. Jet are @ New Moon as I post this.

Personally, I'm heading down stairs for a tall cup of some hate juice for another afternoon of vitriol, venom, vehemence, and vituperation.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thankfully my wife has no interest in seeing that movie.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Anonymous1:04 PM

I prefer the chocolate flavored hate juice personally.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I've never seen forest gump or that submarine movie. I will never see blindside. I don't watch movies with satan in them. I don't care if he played the lswho coach in the movie, it's still him and that's unacceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Mhciela, I got over being attracted to brooding men in college...nothing but trouble. And usually big babies besides.

    ReplyDelete
  60. it's apparent that some of you folks have fallen under the influence of misguided family members or, heaven forbid, FSJ.

I HATE UA-T all inclusively and unconditionally!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. did someone mention 'brooding men' and 'HATE'? :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. Kristina,

    Brooding men or breeding men?

    ReplyDelete
  63. chocolate flavored hate juice?

    hmmmmmm.....

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think I will go see The Blind Side tonight..

    Norm convinced me.

    ReplyDelete
  65. '85 TIFFIN BREAKS AUBURN'S HEART

    ReplyDelete
  66. zookeeper...I think that scottie would pass for a brooding man right now. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ah, a good tall cup of coffee.

THT, may I suggest to you the movie "The Devil's Advocate," which provides three wonderful occurrences.

    1. Charlize Theron
    2. Keanu Reeves' death
    3. Saban, as portayed by Al Pacino, bursting into flames and returning to the fiery depths of Hell

    ReplyDelete
  68. Charlize.....

    Now that is dessert....

    ReplyDelete
  69. Bammer,

Don't make me hate Charlize Theron because you complimented her.

    ReplyDelete
  70. can i order a tall cup of coffee with Charlize on top please Jet.

i can't HATE Keanu....i love me some Matrix Trilogy. however, i can HATE some Point Break and some Bama!

    ReplyDelete
  71. If UAT were a jelly bean, it would be a poop jelly bean.

    ReplyDelete
  72. AU HOTTIES love Charlize

Faker and UAT types have the hots for "Monster" Charlize.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Coach Dye throws Tubs under the bus...

    PFD

    I love ...scratch that...HATE Dye...

    ReplyDelete
  74. Anybody see Urban Meyer's presser?

The guy got verklempt 3 or 4 times thinking about this Saturday being Senior Day. It made for good TV.

Probably just sad realizing that Tebow is done in 3 games.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Probably realizing that he's going to have to make a decision about South Bend too.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The prophet of old, Patrick Fain Dye, speaketh wisdom.

    Heed his words.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'd heard he had been going around saying next year would be a struggle too..

    That surprises me somewhat.

    ReplyDelete
  78. The lesser the expectations next year, the better off Auburn will be. Nothing like an offseason of "disrespect" to motivate a team in the weight room and film room.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Dye's quote for tomorrow:

"Alabama's not woman enough to lose to Auburn."

    ReplyDelete
  80. Dye bringing the HATE.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Bro Jet - it's game week; I think we both need to concentrate a little harder. I shouldn't have let work get in the way.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Dangit....

Mark Ingram is on the cover of the next Sports Illustrated issue...

    Ingram

    Oh well..another recruiting tool.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Here comes the Jinx.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Dye speaks the truth about Tommy. His lack or recruiting has really hurt. We have decent starters, but our backups are horrible and/or non-existant. We need numbers and talent.

With that said, I do believe next year's team will be heads and shoulders better than this team--especially if we can enroll 5 guys in the spring to count against this past year's numbers.

We have talent...we will sign talent. Numbers is what we need.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Wow... I cannot believe the stroke of luck there. Thank you sports illustrated!

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'll say one thing..Sports Illustrated has the best action photographs of any magazine. Good stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  87. SI bringing the jinx HATE.

    ReplyDelete
  88. How many times has Tebow been on the cover?

Hasn't seemed to hurt him.. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  89. Didn't hurt Glen Coffee last year either.

    Keep dreaming hotties!

    ReplyDelete
  90. i'm the best running back in this state of HATE.

    ReplyDelete
  91. nothing can hurt Tim Tebow, except that dude from Kentucky

    ReplyDelete
  92. ....or his own player's knee.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Saith Tony Barnhart ...

    http://blogs.ajc.com/barnhart-college-football/2009/11/24/auburn-has-a-chance-to-repeat-history/?cxntfid=blogs_barnhart_college_football

    ReplyDelete
  94. I repeat....

Bill Curry ain't walking through that door..

    And neither is Pat Dye...

    ReplyDelete
  95. FSJ,

If you are into accuracy, the man who will be walking through that door has the same number of victories in that stadium as does Bill Curry.

    Just sayin'.

    ReplyDelete
  96. i'd like to spit some beechnut in that bammer's eye.

    ReplyDelete
  97. The only similarity between that game in 89 and this year's game outside of Alabama being undefeated is that one team was a physical, beat you up team....and the other was finesse....

Wanna guess which one was the physical team in 1989?

    ReplyDelete
  98. That changes this week.

    ReplyDelete
  99. SI Photographers = No. 1 in my rankings.

    ReplyDelete
  100. SI photographers #1
    HABOTN photographers #2

    ReplyDelete
  101. I bet they have a fortune in camera equipment.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Where do Hefner's photographers rank?

    ReplyDelete
  103. they're solid @ #3 FSJ. solid.

    ReplyDelete
  104. crap, i'm talking to a Bammer. i HATE myself for that.

    thanks Norm.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Scottie...tsk tsk.

    ReplyDelete
  106. i know, i know. i feel all dirty.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Whoever shot this glamor shot is #1 in my book:

    ReplyDelete
  108. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Let me try this again...

Scottie...Aubies generally feel dirty after talking to me.

    Don't feel bad.

Jay, blogger needs to allow users to edit posts.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Yeah Jay. Use your connections to change blogger.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Is my SI coming Wednesday or Friday this week? Either way, it'll be before kickoff, and I'll be excited to know it's sitting in my mailbox making hate babies to send out and cover Ingram's karma.

    ReplyDelete
  112. i think everyone should bring the SI's to the game friday and stick them with needles like voodoo dolls.

i am confident it will help. you can't stop VOODOO!

    ReplyDelete
  113. best perspective yet on the Les Miles debacle from Andy Bitter:

Some Dude: What are your thoughts on Les Miles clock managment at the end of the ole miss game and then throwing his qb under the bus?

Andy: Has he ever played a football video game in his life? That should be the first thing ADs do to determine whether someone is capable of coaching their football team. A 12-year-old with NCAA '10 on Xbox knows how to manage the end of a game better than Miles at this point.

Not related, but Jay G loves video games.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Now ... you doo that voodoo that you do so well!

    ReplyDelete
  115. I've played friends who have lost track of the time at the end of some NCAA football. Then again, they don't get paid 3.75 million to do it.

    The handle says it all.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Jet,

I wondered when that line would come out....

    LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I've been posting on Bitter's chat. We're buddies.

    ReplyDelete
  118. But I am not "some dude"

    ReplyDelete
  119. wait, I read that wrong...not what I was saying at all, Jay G. As I said, totally unrelated statement.

    ReplyDelete
  120. after some detective work...nevermind. I'm an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I will never click on another link by michael. Just ruined my day Hate bammer hate bmmers hate all connected to bammer's

    ReplyDelete
  122. What the heck is going on in here?

    ReplyDelete
  123. Someone steal michael's identity?

    ReplyDelete
  124. Everyone and their mom in the state has pegged Alabama to blow Auburn out on Friday, yet the line is moving in the opposite direction. Is this a testament to all of the delusional Alabama fans we are surrounded by?

    ReplyDelete
  125. It's a testament to the fact that while upsets rarely happen in the Iron Bowl....close games are almost the norm.

    ReplyDelete
  126. wait, what? I can bet on Bama to give up less than 13.5 now?

    ReplyDelete
  127. I got a testament of hate for your bammer [expletive deleted].

    ReplyDelete
  128. What is your prediction on the game FSJ?

    ReplyDelete
  129. FSj ...

    Norm is the Norm.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I wanna go Old Testament on UAT!

    ReplyDelete
  131. fire, brimstone, that kind of stuff, eh? i can dig it.

    ReplyDelete
  132. unfortunately, close games are The Norm when AU wins. Not necessarily when the infidels win.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I'm more in the 28-17 range...

but I am by no means a prognosticator.

I expect us to pull away late....Auburn will play their best game of the year and keep it real close until the fourth quarter.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I want FSJ to turn into a pillar of salt.

    ReplyDelete
  135. PF - I think it would be more beneficial if Ingram turned into a pile of pepper.

    ReplyDelete
  136. PF - you want Bammer to turn from one POS into another form of POS?

    That's authentic frontier jibberish.

    ReplyDelete
  137. The highlight of the game will be for me when FSJ turns to Saban and says, "Son, you're on your own."

    ReplyDelete
  138. If Auburn wins, I'm driving to FSJ's house to roll his trees and paint his bbq grill orange.

    ReplyDelete
  139. 1982 game on ESPN Classic at 4 p.m. CST

    ReplyDelete
  140. The highlight of the game to me will be when FSJ says to Saban "...are you in show business? then get your feet off the frickin' stage!"

    ReplyDelete
  141. LOL..you guys are cracking me up..

I wish I had enough room in my car to store the toilet paper that would be necessary to roll all of your yards after Friday's game.

    ReplyDelete
  142. FSJ, I live in a condo.

    Bammer Fail.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Jet,

The 84 game was on earlier....Love that kicker Auburn had.

Didn't he transfer to UF and end up beating Auburn a year or so later?

    ReplyDelete
  144. Sean...I'll roll your front door then.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Condo- an apartment house, office building, or other multiple-unit complex, the units of which are individually owned, each owner receiving a recordable deed to the individual unit purchased, including the right to sell, mortgage, etc., that unit and sharing in joint ownership of any common grounds, passageways, etc.

Sorry Bammer, I know I must have left you confused for a minute.

    ReplyDelete
  146. FSJ ...

Yes, I was there for the Florida game.

His name will not pass my lips.

    ReplyDelete
  147. McGintey or something like that.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I really mean it this time. That boy was then and I'm sure still is a loser.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Is it Friday yet? The build up to this game sucks. At least the students are out and can do whatever they want to pass the time. I'm stuck at work on a slow week!

    ReplyDelete
  150. Against UAT, his kick was the only time I've seen in a college game where a field goal attempt hit the pylon in the corner of the end zone.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Agreed Jet...it wasn't even close.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Okay, I successfully did nothing today (well, I sorted through 7 2500 page PDF files some lawyer sent over only to find that there was nothing relevant in any of it). Happy Turkey, I'm going home to pack. Hotties, get together, get maps out, and Jet, organize the hate posse. WDE. HATE BAMA!

    ReplyDelete
  153. I was born in Dec. of 1984. Just to give some perspective.

    ReplyDelete
  154. POINTS ALLOWED BY AUBURN

    1st Q: 65
    2nd Q: 67
    3rd Q: 77
    4th Q: 88

    Hmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Just to give you more perspective - I'm older than you. A lot older than you. But, Jet's a bit older than I am so I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Fits in with my prediction..Right Jay G.

    ReplyDelete
  157. And I am younger than Norm, but older than you.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Can I unread JGT's last post? Can someone help a brutha out?

    ReplyDelete
  159. For the love of Eltoro, Jay G thinks we're givin' up 297!

    ReplyDelete
  160. Nope Norm...It is done.

Zookeeper is older than me too...right?

    ReplyDelete
  161. Must be that whole depth issue thing Steve discovered...you know in September.

    ReplyDelete
  162. I think I write a country music song ...

"The Wreck of the Ol' 297"

We can play it at the No. 6 dance.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Funny, bammer. I'm not older than you, no.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Wiser, but not older.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Apparently, Auburn is not a deep football team from a depth standpoint.

    ReplyDelete
  166. And just because I haven't posted 3 in a row in a while...

    ReplyDelete
  167. I have a lifetime winning record against Bama.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Jet! All in my way and stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  169. ooooohhh...

    Epic Fail.

    ReplyDelete
  170. False start ... No. 73.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Hardly Epic, drama queen.

    ReplyDelete
  172. ok..

    Aubie Fail..

Has a nice ring to it.

    ReplyDelete
  173. We got to figure out where we're at. Why we're where we're at...

    ReplyDelete
  174. Where's Norm?

    It's first and goal!

    ReplyDelete
  175. It depends on what the meaning of the word is...is.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Whaddya want?

    New page!

    ReplyDelete
  177. It's rollin' baby!

    ReplyDelete
  178. Touchdown Auburn!

    ReplyDelete
  179. People screwing up my page flip.

    ReplyDelete
  180. New page...new hate.

    ReplyDelete
