Here are a few notable comments:
- On what he's planning to do with Anthony Gulley: ``We're going to have more of those conversations as the week goes on. We don't really know what exactly we're going to do. Obviously he's a very good athlete, so he can do a couple of different things. But you can't just throw him out there at corner against the Georgias and Alabamas of the world and say: Hey, good luck."
- On the situation at punt returner: ``Just really disappointing. It just really is disappointing and we've invested a lot of time in it. We've got to get somebody back there that we can count on to do that. Obviously, we don't have anybody at this point we feel like can. So if it has to be somebody new, then that's what we'll do this week. But we'll investigate more as the week goes on."
- On the University of Georgia's football team: ``I've watched a lot of them. Hey -- they're very, very talented. That has not changed. Let's keep in perspective that three of their four losses were to top-10 team. They're still a really, really good football team with a ton of talent. They've beaten some really good football teams. I don't think anything has changed with them."
- On Eric Smith: ``If you ask him to block, he blocks. If you ask him to catch the ball out of the backfield, he does that. He's made some critical third downs and big plays for us. He's got a great set of hands. He's a physical guys who can block 270-pound defensive end. There's just so much he does -- he covers kickoffs, he's on our kickoff-return team. Anything we ask him to do, he does and he's very reliable."

Beat LEGHUMPERS!!! SUBSTANCE
ReplyDelete2 in the BCS
ReplyDeleteI HATE GEORGIA!!!
ReplyDeleteJ-Z- From last thread, try living in Georgia and seeing how much you love those leg humpers!
I was wondering if you went to this
ReplyDelete**REPOST**
ReplyDeleteDear Curtis:
I have USC at 20.
Among the 60 voters in the AP poll, only one has USC lower than me. So if you wanna mouth, first mouth at the 56 voters who have the Trojans higher than me.
I'm almost the last guy on your list.
Love,
jgt
xoxoxoxo
"If you ask Eric to knock someone out, he knocks him out" :)
ReplyDeleteI love Eric Smith. Ran into him at the mall a few years ago (I live 10 minutes from where he played in high school)and saw him wearing an Auburn shirt. Gave him a War Eagle and he said he was going to play there. I didn't follow recruiting at all so I had no clue who he was. I wished him luck and went on my way. I maintain that my luck is what has turned him into a great Auburn player.
ReplyDeleteJay, I think Curtis asked you why your peers have USC ranked so why... not you.
ReplyDeleteCurtis' forefathers were the ones telling Columbus that the world was flat -- after his maiden voyage to America.
ReplyDeleteI'd never shake a baby, but I'd shake the hell out of a Curtis.
ReplyDeleteCurtis says FIGJAM Mickelson will never win a major.
ReplyDeleteCurtis told Henry Ford to keep making buggy whips.
ReplyDeleteCurtis...just another Tim on here.
ReplyDeleteCurtis ragged on the creator of purple because, as he said, "blue is good enough."
ReplyDeleteBut I bet the last buggy whip company to go out of business was the best damn buggy whip company of all time.
ReplyDeletestill buried at work.
ReplyDeleteI blame UA-T.
I HATE UA-T!!!
WARRRRRRRRRR EAGLE!!!
GO TIGERS!!!
BURN THE BULLDOGS!!!
Thanks, JGT!!!
Curtis still believes Morse code will make a big comeback.
ReplyDeleteT. Zach for punt returner!
ReplyDeleteYou people need to pace yourselves..
ReplyDeleteThere are two weeks of hate for Bama upcoming.
Don't want y'all to peak too soon.
Curtis advocated a WWII push in the European theater because, as he said, "nothing bad will happen in the Pacific."
ReplyDeleteFSJ - where did you get the notion that there is ever a trough in my level of hate for UA-T?
ReplyDeleteI hate UA-T 24/7/365 and a quarter!!!
I know I sound like a broken record, but:
ReplyDeleteT-Zach for punt returner.
Curtis thinks Jason Standridge would make a great starter at Auburn next season.
ReplyDeletebest. thread. ever.
ReplyDeleteCurtis thinks Sewanee should be in the SEC next season.
ReplyDeleteCurtis thinks the Blair Witch Project really happened ... and wants justice for the killer.
ReplyDeleteWhat time is the Auburn-UGA game next weekend?
ReplyDeleteI don't know FSJ, ask Curtis.
ReplyDeleteLol Waker.
ReplyDeleteWhen I read great things like that about E Smith, I think "and his brother is buried on a depth chart somewhere doing nothing."
ReplyDeleteCurtis thinks jet propulsion is a fad.
ReplyDeletePropellers are and will be superior.

ReplyDeleteCurtis still is trying to set up an interview with Sidd Finch.
ReplyDeleteWhere is that guy?
The Jason Standridge comment was priceless.
ReplyDeleteCurtis believes Gen. Sherman was urban legend. A band of drunks were the ones actually setting fire to everything.
ReplyDeleteNo mas sensi on AFI?
ReplyDeletePeter- He quit the show on us. Too much stuff going on for him right now. Just me and E-Bro and maybe Curtis if he calls in.
ReplyDeleteCurtis claims to have written "On The Road Again," not Willie Nelson, and plans to sue the IRS to reclaim his royalties.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter..
ReplyDeleteHere's the full SEC schedule that I found on TI...
Tennessee at Ole Miss (11 a.m. CT / CBS Sports)
Kentucky at Vanderbilt (11:21 a.m. CT / SEC Network)
Florida at South Carolina (3:30 p.m. ET / CBS Sports)
Alabama at Mississippi State (6 p.m. CT / ESPN)
Auburn at Georgia (7 p.m. ET / ESPN2)
Louisiana Tech at LSU (6 p.m. CT / ESPNU)
Troy at Arkansas (6:30 p.m. CT / CSS)
Curtis uses MySpace exclusively because, as he said, "Facebook will never catch on."
ReplyDeleteIll be at dat Ole Miss game
ReplyDeleteJay G bringing the heat. I'm dying after the IRS one.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of Alabama/Auburn playing at the same time....yet again.
ReplyDeleteI guess my brother in law and I'll be doing the two TV setup...again.
jhag, that should be fun times a million
ReplyDeleteNo doubt...jhag will be a free agent this weekend.
ReplyDeleteok, UF at SC and UA-T at MSU.
ReplyDeleteRefs wouldn't dare make a blatantly bad call against The Visor, so I guess that means Mullen will again be the sacrificial lamb.
All hail CBSlive.
Just 2 FSJ? We do 3, plus laptops.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a nice setup Peter..
ReplyDeleteI should mention that I also use my iMac for the ESPN 360 stuff.
Curtis thinks PPL will be an awesome punt returner ... but he needs a few more chances in big games.
ReplyDeleteIn Curtis I trust.
ReplyDeleteI really think it's time we try to block every punt and not even have a fumbler back there.
ReplyDeleteJGT, bringin' the hate.
ReplyDeleteIf only we could find a way to harness that power for good.
gotta see what Oxford is made of
ReplyDeleteRIght now the weather forecast for Athens Saturday looks perfect for an Auburn win, and for us spectators! Granted it is early, and we know how the weather in the south can change.
ReplyDeletePartly Cloudy
High Low
67° F 46° F
Precip: 10%
Spectator Index: 9
jhag, the weather should be OK for you too, unless Ida turns into a hurricane up that way!
ReplyDeleteCloudy
HighLow
63° F 51° F
Precip: 10%
Spectator Index: 8
jhag...
ReplyDeleteI think you'll like what Oxford is made of.
What an awesome thread today.
ReplyDeleteSo we're on the Deuce, huh? No offense to the #3 team in the nation and State, but we're the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry. Put us on ESPN, not them.
ReplyDeleteI so do not want to have to listen to Bob Davie and Mark Jones again. I might listen to the Georgia radio broadcast over them.
JGT - You the man for putting NAVY 25! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteDoes Mr. Curtis dress in drag and think he is Gorgeous George re-incarnated.
ReplyDeleteBack in from my 1st pro game. Watched ATL-Wash. So much going on in that stadium. Why don't those folks sit down and watch the game. Sat on row 27, lower section 15 yard line. Saw lots of action, but as I said folks wanting to walk by to go get stuff all day long.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the service academies, am I the only one who thinks it's wrong the Air Force still runs mainly the triple-option? If you have the word "Air" in your school's name, shouldn't you be a five wide and let it fly passing attack?
ReplyDeleteAs for Army, they should have to run the triple option and reply mainly on a ground game, because, well, they're the Army.
As for Navy, they should run a multiple set and throw and pass equally. And maybe they should only be allowed to play in rain or something.
These are the things I think about.
E-Bro - you're bored
ReplyDeleteIf AU finishes 8-4, this staff deserves a strong vote for SEC coach of the year and a good run at national coach of the year. I think the guy at Cincy will win that, but Chizik has done a very good job to this point. Winning the UK game would have been a world changer for lots of resaons.
ReplyDeleteIf they go 9-3, for sure coach of the SEC and a strong push for national coach of the year.
Just my opinion.
Good video of Dyer and Mosley. Mosley down to TN and Auburn.
ReplyDeletehttp://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/football/news/story?id=4635612
and if we go 7-5, wtc?
ReplyDeleteE-Bro - Navy threw 3 passes and completed 2. They never throw. All about execution.
ReplyDeleteTHT...yep.
ReplyDeleteJGT bringing the pain tonite. nice.
ReplyDeleteAU1NO4, not saying it doesn't work for Navy. It obviously does. Just making a joke, although I do feel strongly that 'Air' Force should do the run and shoot or something.
ReplyDeleteI will never forget the game I went to in '96 Navy against GT at GT. Navy needed to win and did to get in a bowl game for the first time since I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteWhen the GT OLine was lining up, they were a head taller then Navy's D Line it was crazy.
E - I know, it is crazy that it works like it does. Especially when you know they are running. Just not sure who is running.
ReplyDeleteTHT-In a lot of folks eyes they still have done a very good job. Even it does not amount to wins this year, there is a HUGE difference in the play and focus of this team over last years.
ReplyDeleteAlso nice to see AU back in the top 25 in the USA Today poll
ReplyDeleteYou wonder why Navy's and Air Force's success is so much more sustained than Army's, given the similarities (unless I am missing something). I guess just good coaching, maybe.
ReplyDeleteAnybody heard anything regarding AJ Green's status. Contusion of the lung can be pretty painful.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea why. Air Force was always consistant because of their coach and being in the WAC. Army always beat Navy but the tide has turned, like that reference, and Army hasn't recovered.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if more are interested in dropping bombs and being on ships rather than being grunts.
#2 in Net Total Yards
ReplyDeletehttp://espn.go.com/college-football/statistics/team/_/stat/total
I always love it when my 8 year old daughter gets in the truck after church choir and requests a little Rage Against the Machine... And she's going to be the angel in the Christmas pageant.
ReplyDeleteawesome, j-z. Just awesome!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt Kathy..
ReplyDeleteContusion of the lung sounds very painful.
FSJ-If you guys don't make it past FLA, the concensus is Cincy in the Sugar. What do think of that game?
ReplyDeleteEwww..that has Utah written all over it.
ReplyDeleteHope it is UF having to deal with that.
If AU finishes 8-4, several sites a retouting the Cotton Bowl. What do you all think of that?
ReplyDeleteThe highlights I have seen shows mainly positives, but UA looks better than UF now, but I think UF has to be beat before they are dropped. I still think Tebow is tough and will write a chapter in his career if he pulls out another victory.
ReplyDeleteI think we match up better with them this year to be sure.
ReplyDeleteWhether we can win or not remains to be seen.
This weekend was the first time in forever that I thought we had better athletes on the field vs. LSU.
BEASLEY!!!
ReplyDeleteESPN guys are Cotton, Cotton, Capital One.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the new house that Jerry built, but Disney Rules.
Bearcats going down to Pitt. TCU going to BCSCG!!! You heard it here first!!!
ReplyDeleteRatliff with a sack
ReplyDeletethat's just the wishin'n hopin talkin
ReplyDeleteI will be in Disney at that time and could take in the game if they get there. Last bowl game I went to was in Orlando to play Michigan. Horribly cold on New Years night. Record for Orlando. Had to be about 20 degrees.
ReplyDeleteI vote for Cotton.
ReplyDeleteThe Cotton Bowl in the new stadium would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI am excited about Gulley. Players like that are special.
ReplyDeleteWhatever bowl we go to, I'm so proud of these guys. Anything good that happens in Amen Corner and the bowl game will be gravy on a great year. I'm a southern girl- I love gravy.
ReplyDeleteAnd if Eric Smith does everything that's asked of him, why don't we ask him to return punts and not muff them?
ReplyDeleteSince Benton now has his swerve on, let him return punts.
ReplyDeleteI'm a western boy and I love gravy.
ReplyDeleteIt's universally adored.
MORE GRAVY
ReplyDeleteJay, could you tell us how you really feel about Curtis? I just can't get an idea of which way you're leaning...
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever found anything that gravy doesn't make better. And I mean anything...
ReplyDeletegot gravy?
ReplyDeleteTEAM 105!!
ReplyDeleteGRAVY!
ReplyDeleteDitto Jay's stance on gravy. Well except replace "boy" with "girl"
ReplyDeleteI could be wrong... Gravy might not help Curtis.
ReplyDeleteI had gravy on blocks of cheese today, and it was surprisingly good.
ReplyDeleteWake... I'm intrigued. Details please.
ReplyDeleteI've not yet tried gravy on my ice cream. But since we're out of Hershey's, I may be willing to try it.
ReplyDeletep.s. I'm going out on a limb and predict that MrsTHT restocked the supply of Hershey's while I've been at work today. Can't wait to get home and have some ice cream!!!
I wonder if Sutton's Drug Store has gravy biscuits on their breakfast menu. I'm gonna find out tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteIn Canada, Burger King sells french fries in a cup with gravy and melted cheese on top, and it's awesome.
ReplyDeleteIf Choco Scottie were here, I'm sure he'd tell us there is such a thing as chocolate gravy.
ReplyDeleteI know in my mental image of heaven, there's chocolate gravy.
Couldn't you just melt chocolate and call it gravy?
ReplyDeleteChicken fried steak with country chocolate gravy.mmmmmm...
ReplyDeleteThat would be too easy. Add cream and butter...that might do it. Maybe ganache is french for gravy.
ReplyDeleteMom's Chocolate Gravy
ReplyDeleteI dunnok, Kristinal. Gravy needs a melted fat that chocolate doesn't normally have.
ReplyDeleteWas at a wedding between a southern girl and a Sicilian guy... odd combo. So they had both italian and southern food there. I had some cheese and gravy on the same plate, we all know what happens when you have gravy on a plate with other food, it gets all over everything. So I ended up with cheese with gravy on it, it tasted pretty good.
ReplyDeletethe key ingredient is flour. It just ain't gravy without flour. Trust me, I'm a Southerner.
ReplyDeleteI didn't say it would be gravy, just that you could call it that.
ReplyDeletekey ingredient is melted fat. flour is a binding and thickening agent for the fat.
ReplyDeleteChocolate Gravy & Biscuits
ReplyDeleteuses "cylinder roll biscuits". That's a felony in my house.
Those canned biscuits are only good if fried
ReplyDeleteWith lots of powdered sugar, PF
ReplyDeleteit's eerily slow here at work (finally) for the past hour. Which means just one thing. All heck will break loose when it's time for me to leave and I'll be stuck here working instead of at home eating ice cream.
ReplyDeleteAnd covered in powdered sugar...gravy.
ReplyDeletecanned biscuits suck.
ReplyDeleteBut have you had them fried and covered in powdered sugar?
ReplyDeleteNo..those are called red neck beignets
ReplyDeleteYour point?
ReplyDeleteI vote any where in Florida so that I can attend but if not Cotton would be sweet
ReplyDeleteNo point..
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a good change of pace if you like fried things with powdered sugar on them.
call. 'em what you want, bammer. I call 'em awesome.
ReplyDeleteArrrrggghh. My keyboard keeps inserting wstuff wsince I wspilled wsater on it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had 'cue in 2 weeks. I can't wait to get some next Friday night on our way to Asheville. And Saturday night on our way home!
ReplyDeleteTHT...
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with you man?
Two weeks without Q?
it's painful, FSJ. I ate a year's worth of 'cue in October, so I figured I should take a break. But 2 weeks is more than I can stand.
ReplyDeleteI will be in Lexington, NC next week. My vegetarian sister is just gonna be out of luck one night because I will be eating some BBQ while I am there.
ReplyDeleteHey..could u pick me up some while you are there?
ReplyDeleteKristina - I am green with envy! And jealous, to boot!
ReplyDeleteI was in Baton Rouge during the Lexington Barbecue Festival this year. I should have been in Lexington.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge fan of Eastern NC BBQ, mainly because I like my sauce to have a little ketchup in it...
ReplyDeletebut..I like all BBQ as a rule so I'll sure eat it.
I'm with you, faker.
ReplyDeleteWilbur's (Goldsboro) is real famous Eastern NC barbecue. I had it last month and wasn't impressed.
ReplyDeleteNew thread UPZ.
ReplyDelete
