Big Cat Weekend: Maybe Not The Best Idea Ever

Hey everyone. So Auburn today released requested information about Big Cat Weekend and the punishments levied by the Southeastern Conference for secondary violations associated with that event.

The documents are numerous. As we like to do on the HABOTN, let's just do a tidy summary.

  • Big Cat Weekend occurred on Saturday, May 30, 2009.

  • It occurred during a weekend when 23 PSAs (that's how the NCAA refers to prospective student athletes) gathered at Auburn and learned about the program.

  • After those officially sanctioned activities ended, Auburn officials reported that eight of those PSAs attended an "impromptu" event at Toomer's Corner. Fans gathered, recruits were announced to the crowd, Aubie was there, trees were rolled. A good time was had by all.

  • PSAs are not permitted to attend an event like that. It's considered a "simulated game-day activity". It's also wrong to announce the names of PSAs . It's also wrong to for PSAs to be in the presence of boosters.

  • Those are secondary violations.

  • Auburn reported those violations to the SEC on June 30, 2009.

  • Here's what Auburn self imposed:
    • Auburn agreed to conduct "multiple education sessions" for athletic employees regarding NCAA rules.

    • Auburn agreed to provide literature for boosters to better understand their prohibition from PSA contact.

    • Auburn also eliminated one official visit for each of the eight PSAs who attended the Toomer's Corner celebration.

    • Auburn provided a written letter of reprimand to Trooper Taylor. (I don't understand why Taylor was singled out; six assistant coaches attended the event)

  • The SEC responded on July 31, 2009.

  • The SEC accepted Auburn's self-imposed sanctions, then added a few more:
    • The SEC banned Auburn from meeting with six PSAs until Sept. 15, 2009: Jessel Curry, Kahiri Fortt, Eric Mack, Trovon Reed, Marcus Lattimore, Lache Seastrunk.

(*Auburn never identified the other two PSAs who attended the event.)

    • The SEC limited Auburn to one phone call to each of those six PSAs in September.

    • The SEC banned Taylor from all off-campus recruiting activities through Nov. 30, 2009.

    • The SEC asked that each of the six assistant coaches who attended the event (Taylor, Jay Boulware, Jeff Grimes, Curtis Luper, Tommy Thigpen, Gus Malzahn) receive written reprimands.

  • Auburn complied with all that.

  • The NCAA then reviewed all that and decided the punishment fit the trangressions.

  • Now you know.

  1. Double standards

  2. So Trooper hasn't been able to recruit off campus since May?

    ReplyDelete
  3. I still disagree. Big Cat Weekend was a big hit. The 8 official visits were worth it for all the publicity it generated. The rolling of Toomer's, not so much.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I don't have a problem with Big Cat Weekend either. Great recruiting vehicle.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Kathy, that is correct.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Everyone sure Rollinson is grades related. I hear totally different.

    ReplyDelete
  7. wtc: I didn't hear grades.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Lots of recruiting info out there today. I'll try to get everyone updated with what I know.

    ReplyDelete
  9. AU is triyng to squeeze some kids to make a decision sooner rather than later. They really do not want to wait until NSD before they know if they are getitng someone.

    ReplyDelete

If wtc says it ain't grades...I'm going with that.

    ReplyDelete
  11. WTC- I'm not sure on grades. Just what was being said and that a suspension was coming. The only thing that would lead you to believe it isn't grades would be the fact that Finals haven't started yet if I heard correctly. I would bet your side is probably correct, but I haven't heard anything else.

    ReplyDelete
  12. OK, if you hear different, can you tell us what you are hearing?

wtc, I'm assuming you are not under any prohibition of unsourced rumormongering imposed by the Montgomery Advertiser legal dept, so this question was directed to you.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yea. wtc is not bound by my rules.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Could Malzahn pull a big recruit from LSU?

Lockup Whittaker from GA. He is in the fold.

If Beasley (Clemson commit) changes his mind on his upcoming official, we are done at the LB position. Looks like CJ Moseley and Petey Smith will be pals on the sidelines for a few years if Beasley come over.

    ReplyDelete
  15. wtc, what LSU recruit?

I don't blame them for not wanting to wait until signing day. You can only commit 28 this year correct?

On Rollison, I heard he wasn't attending class, but that's just hear-say.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Is that good or bad JayG?

    ReplyDelete
  17. WTC- you talking about a DE?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Eddie-I think he plays TE.

    ReplyDelete
  19. WTC, you can say what you want.

    ReplyDelete
  20. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Eddie I think he plays TE. Last name is Dickson. His bro plays at LSU.

LSU is close to unloading it's offensive staff.

    ReplyDelete
  22. There was something that occured of campus. Think ESmith without the sucker punch.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Kathy-I did not say that about Dyer earlier today. i heard it but do not believe it is true.

    ReplyDelete
  24. wtc, are you kidding me? Another fight? Crazy....

    ReplyDelete
  25. Someone told me they didn't think Dyer would qualify, but I haven't heard anything about his grades at all. Have you?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Athletic dept now thinks all recruits are going to qualify so far. If so, they have room for 5 more in this class for 2010.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The kid from Linden, AL was the question but he has made enough progress at this new school to make it in.
Dyer is avery good student. no problems with him at all.

    ReplyDelete
  28. WTC- I just saw Travis's bio. Is that why they are planning to now gray shirt Dakota?

Interesting. I hear Crowton is out at LSU. Any truth?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thank you wtc! Great news about qualifiers. Can't waste those LOI any more.

    ReplyDelete
  30. OK, wtc and Eddie, y'all are making my head spin with all this news tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Jay G- What's your opinion on whether you think Tubs will be UGA's new DC?

    ReplyDelete
  32. AU is pushing hard for an OL named Roszell Gaysden. I've been told if he comes, he will start day one. He is very good. (6'7" 310lbs)

    ReplyDelete
  33. WTC- i've heard the same thing. That would be awesome to get that big OL. We need him.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Eddie-do not get on the Rollinson express just yet. Look out for the Moseley Express. Not sayin' anything, but the kid is a winner everywhere he has been.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Good grief. So much for a random Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  36. WTC- so you are buying what Chizik may have said about Mosely yesterday. I heard that. I hope he is right, but I still don't put much stock in the Mosely express just yet. With that said, the Rollison Express has been derailed again.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Only question about whether Dyer would qualify is whether he would qualify to enroll in Jan, or wait until the summer to come.... I think it ends up being the summer.

    Rollison + SkyBar = suspension...
SkyBar is not supposed to admit anyone under 19...

WTC... Dickson would be a good addition, but where does he fit in the class... we don't have many spaces left to fill that aren't already slotted....

For some reason the staff likes Beasley more than CJ Mosley.... it is their choice of who to take. But, again, where do they fit in?

2 DT, 1 DE, 3 OL, 2 CB... that fills the 8 remaining spots would have... and that means 3 people have to be sign and place... Where do we have room for another LB and a TE?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Almost too much info from JGT and all the other Hotties. Love it keep it coming. Don't mean to make light of the bad info but I love getting info early.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Coaches love Mosely... he is definitely one to keep an eye on in the QB race this spring. Coaches have raved about how he has ran the scout team this fall...

Gayden is a May qualifier... unless he is knocked off his feet at Cal this weekend, he would be AU's to lose, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  40. D. Miller- where does Dakota Mosely fit in your numbers. I'm reading gray shirt possibility.

    ReplyDelete
  41. So Kansas coach Mangino resigned. Way to go Kansas. Force out the only coach who brought you real success in my lifetime. Welcome back to Vandy status in the Big 12.

    ReplyDelete
  42. DMiller-He could fill Trotts role. He and Lutz will play that role.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Anonymous8:57 PM

    Here's a rumor I heard....

Both Bama and Auburn will have top 5 recruiting classes this year......

    ReplyDelete
  44. FSJ- I hope you are right for once.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The only violation of any consequence is Trooper not being able to recruit off campus. The rest are not that big of a deal.

Based on the pub, the Tigers obtained, I would say it was worth the penalties to have committed the violations.

    ReplyDelete
  46. FSJ-You mentioned earlier that Sal could be leaving. I hear Jimbo Fisher is waiting until Sunday to call. Also hear that if some will pay the same thing, and I do not know what he is paid, McElwain wants to go back out west.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Here's a rumor I heard:

Zookeeper is going to eat too many m&m's tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Rumor has it R grner asked Richt about the DC job and he was turned down. Look for him to show up at FSU, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Tyrik is due to grades. He also was not at Skybar with the other players for the birthday earlier this week.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hey, FSJ, are you still on TI as well under the same name?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Anonymous9:00 PM

    wtc,

    You are correct on Sal....

I've read that McElwain is trying to get some of the lower level HC jobs this year.

I don't think Kirby leaves FWIW..but I could be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Mark-the off campus recruting thing has already passed I believe, if I read the story coreectly.

    ReplyDelete
  53. wtc, I got the distinct impression, that CNS has not been happy with McElwaine's playcalling lately.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I heard Richt my go after him, from Barnhardt, but I doubt he would leave.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Eddie... I have not heard gray shirt for Dakota... it would certainly help.

    My math:
Right now we have 22 commitments. Curry and Sanders plan to enroll in Jan. so that makes 20 currently to count towards the 2010 class. That includes Dakota. With him, I figured a redshirt year to beef up to OL size.
28 limit minus the 20 current leaves 8 spots left to fill.

    ReplyDelete
  56. The Civil War is a good game so far State 13 Oregon 14

    ReplyDelete
  57. WTC- that's what I heard about Gardner. Looks like he is on shakey grounds with UGA at best. That is funny. Richt is in panic mode if he loses Gardner. Gardner will make it personal to take as many recruits with him as possible.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anonymous9:03 PM

    Reese's pieces > m&m's...

    At least according to Abbie.

    I don't eat that stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Dmiller-the onlyproblem is you can only get 25 in so you have room to get 8 commits but only 5 can get in for 2010.
    Is that not correct?

    ReplyDelete
  60. That OL from College of the Sequoias ... been on their list for months.

    ReplyDelete
  61. hey guys,

    Topics:

    1. Rollison- guy who has inside knowledge(like they all do) said Rollison got intoa fight. They guy claimed to be friends with Phillip Lutz and he said Tyrick got into a fight, but a guy on here said it was grades so who knows.

    2. Big Cat Weekend- well worth it, we needed to make a big splash with recruits and get our new name and staff out there.

    3. LSU-My best friend is an LSU freak, he is on all the sites and some inside guy they all swear is right and comes on only with big news said the same thing that LSU is shaking up the offensive staff.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I understand the role Dickson would play... he is an athletic TE, good blocker...
But, how does he fit into the math portion of the test?

    ReplyDelete
  63. WTC...correct about the 28/25 thing...

Even thought the staff expects all of their commits to qualify, they actually need 3 to be sign and place...

    ReplyDelete
  64. D. Miller, why couldn't some count towards last year?

    ReplyDelete
  65. PDWT- LSU freak is awesome at what he does.

Lache Seastrunk- there seem to be tea leafs that still point him torwards Auburn, but it seems like everyone else seems to beleve Lattimore is the back AU is going after hard.

    ReplyDelete
  66. DMiller:
    2 DT, 1 DE, 3 OL, 2 CB

    DT: Whitaker and Thornton
DE: KAdmas if Lemonier doesn;t decide quickly
    OL: Mack, Gayden, Stone, Cullen
CB: Mike Harris, Eric Russell, J. Robertson

Those are thepones I think they are hitting hard.
The russell kid is a top KR/PR in JUCO and said he loves to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  67. NCAA....BBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. D. miller- the only thing that makes sense would be the potential gray shirt of Dakota. Rivals has listed that as a real option for him. Shocked me when I saw it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. They visited with Dequan Menzie this week... hoping he can come in as a Jan enrollee... Brandon Mosely - OL as possible Jan enrollee...Lawrence Gibson as a possible Jan enrollee...

Cullen and Gayden would both be May qualifiers. I only see them taking one of them, and right now, I think they prefer Gayden.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Eddie,

Agreed, Lattimore goes elsewhere, but Seastrunk is who I want, he has been quiet, I bet he signs in Feb., also I am excited to see our recruits and potential recruits down here next weekend in Mobile for the AL/MS classic.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Seastrunk has scheduled an official visit with AU. Seastrunk did not have a good of a year as projected. His mom told someone at LSU that he and reed were going to college together. LSU boards are all in a tizzy about it.
Dyer likes Lattimore alot. Looks like AU staff is all in with Lattimore but I just can't tell about the Seastrunk thing.

    Crap...

I forgot the BBQ show was on...... grrrrrrrr..

    ReplyDelete
  73. OK, color me confused.

I thought the new 28 rule only counted for the current year's class.

Which means we could actually sign 33 total - five who qualify in time to count on last years class, 3 to sign & place (or greyshirt) and 25 to get P.A.I.D. to play in the fall.

    Am I off base?

    ReplyDelete
  74. i dont math after 5 p.m.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Mark... the 28/25 that I mentioned is seperate from the 5 that they will bring in as Jan enrollees to count back.

WTC... I think we're both thinking along the same lines.

DT: Whitaker, Thornton or Bryan Jones
DE: Only way they take Adams is if he comes in as a Jan enrollee... Lemonier in May
    OL: Gayden, Stone, Mack
DB: Russell (if he can come in as Jan enrollee) Darius Robinson, Brad Roby

    ReplyDelete
  76. WTC- those be the tea leafs I was talking about. Just get one of them. I'm ready for the return of the Mack. He needs to swith commitments.

    ReplyDelete
  77. also, does anyone know where I can buy some cousin eddie white shoes from the national lampoons movies, I would pay top dollar for them.,

    ReplyDelete
  78. Feerless... you're right... only catch is that the 5 that count backwards would have to be January enrollees.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Mark is right. Well worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Dmiller-I don't think the Jones kid gets an offer. Unless one of the two in GA do not come.

    ReplyDelete
  81. DMiller-You are on top of it. It is tuogh to figure who is in the 09 and the 10 class.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Good night all. Early workout in the am ad always. Someone push 4 am back for me.

    ReplyDelete
  83. You already can't make it to class? That's a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I did, Eddie, back on the first Sunday in November.

The Federal Gummint only lets me do that once a year, so long as I put it back every spring.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Or put it forward.

Dang, I always get confused. Maybe they should give the job to a younger guy.

    ReplyDelete
  86. WTC... I agree about the Jones kid... he is a fall back in case they miss on Thornton.
However, with the staff upheaval at UGA, I think it helps us considerably with him.

    ReplyDelete
  87. was it the sociology class carnell and the players were in a few years back? lol..:)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Fearless please make tomorrow Saturday?

    ReplyDelete
  89. In the meantime, if you're not watching ESPN (or following the action on 360) you are missing some stellar QB play, and very little defense.

You don't often see two teams successfully run their two-minute offense for a TD in the same two-minute period.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Go Gators...and Tebow...

    ReplyDelete
  91. Anonymous9:31 PM

    Freep,

What do you think about Saturday's game?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Jeremiah Masoli: It came down to Auburn and Oregon.

Tony Franklin liked him a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'd rather have made yesterday Saturday, but that would have made Saturday Monday. I don't know if I could handle that.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Malzahn supposedly met with the Jones kid this week while in Arkansas recruiting.

Trooper had an in-home visit with Lemonier today.

    ReplyDelete
  95. It sounded so simple when I asked for it.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Tate, Masoli would not grow his sideburns like Franklin liked them so he chose Chris Todd.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I think I'll play hooky tomorrow and shop.

    ReplyDelete
  98. its hard to work during the holidays....

    ReplyDelete
  99. wow, the 10 sided dice are out and rolling today...who brought the dungeouns master guide?

    ReplyDelete
  100. let's play hooky pat

    ReplyDelete
  101. Honestly, Faker, I'm stumped.

Two weeks ago I thought Bama would win with relative ease. After watching them struggle to score against the worst defense in the SEC, I'm starting to lean the other way.

But when situations like this arise, I look at the historical trends, i.e.:

    - In the entire history of the SEC, Bama has never gone an entire decade without at least one conference championship.

    - Since Paul W. Bryant returned to the Capstone, only one Bama HC has failed to win an SEC championship by the end of his third season.

Plus, I think all the Tebow adulation may bring the Gators some well-deserved bad karma.

So I think Bama pulls it off. Call it a hunch.

    ReplyDelete
  102. If we are able to get the guys you all are saying then we should be really close to pushing for that top spot. On Mack I have heard that he really wants to come to Au but has a baby and that is what is keeping him from making the switch.

    ReplyDelete
  103. carmela, i play hooky everyday, my boss just doesnt know it until i turn in my expense reports..:)

    ReplyDelete
  104. PDWT,

I'm your man. Was just shoe shoppng a few days ago, and saw lots of white shoes on the racks....refresh my memory, were Eddie's shoes bucks or loafers?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Sounds like you have a good situation.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Pete, Loafers, I have looked at goodwill, no suck luck.

Carmela, I do, insurance is recession proof, so its not so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  107. To me, Big Cat Weekend was like staying past curfew for the BEST TIME EVER in high school.

(If you know what I mean.)

Mom and Dad ground you for two weeks. And you've got a grin plastered all over your face the whole two weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Aldo carries a pair of white loafers that you can probably get online, as does Allen Edmonds (but for a much higher price)...if you're serious, though, I saw some at DSW here for 70% off I could probably hook you up with. They had around 5 styles of white loafers in every size....I hate white shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  109. PDWT-WHo are you with in that business? What type do you handle?

    ReplyDelete
  110. wow... if the word from the who's is accurate... count Seastrunk into the equation...

Supposedly Seastrunk's mom made a comment recently that Lache and Trovon will be playing together in college...

    ReplyDelete
  111. They shouldn't even be manufactured.

    ReplyDelete
  112. pete, writing it down, there is an ugly christmas sweater party i go to, so it needs to be legit, eddie outfit and all.

    ReplyDelete

#1. TR--No class = No play. Simple as that. You are getting free room, board, clothes, medical attention, training, and other "perks" in return for going to class. Not too shabby.
#2. Bama will lose by 14. Sorry FSJ, just the truth IMO. Tebow, love or hate him, wins. His teammates believe in him. They follow him. Oh yeah, and CBS wants to have his baby.
#3. Trooper was in Mobile earlier this week. Don't know why, but he was at a HS bball game down here.
#4. NL Christmas Vacation is the best holiday movie ever put onto film.
#5. ummm, I am stumped for now.

    ReplyDelete
  119. If wtc says it's not grades related, then I'll go with it not being grades related.

Hopefully Rollison will update his twitter or facebook while we can anxiously await his words.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Don't forget, they have a leg up this week becasue UAT has to practice and entertain the coaches for the super 6. AU gets a week on the road. I am sure they would rtade that for the SEC champ game, but that will come later I hope.
i would say he was seeing CJ Moseley if I was guessing.

    ReplyDelete
  121. So I don't remember who was complaining about alabama running illegal pick plays in the iron bowl, but not sure how we can complain about that and then think Big Cat weekend was OK.

I totally think it was worth it, btw. Absolutely. Just curious what the difference is??

    ReplyDelete
  122. The difference is the Refs didn't call them. I have no problem with a offense choosing to run a play they may be called for, but the refs should call it.

    ReplyDelete
  123. FSU just took a 4 star DB from Bama, Mike Harris, ROLL TRIBE!

    ReplyDelete
  124. That is hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  125. To the Auburn faithful, I'm sorry. I will get this issue corrected. I want all yall to know I expect more of myself and things will turn around. WAR EAGLE!!!

    Tyrik Rollison

    I still like this kid.

    ReplyDelete
  126. difference between secondary violations and on-the-field cheating?

    ReplyDelete
  127. Anonymous10:02 PM

pdwt- not a clue.. a student of mine came in wednesday and said his dad was at a game and called him, and then TT was on the other end telling him war eagle and how they were working on a #1 team for next year. the kid didn;t know what game his dad was at... kid's only a 7th grader..they're kinda dumb at that age, and they really don't pay attention to where their parents are at.. sorry..

    ReplyDelete
  128. Anonymous10:02 PM

    cheating is cheating..right?

    ReplyDelete
  129. Rose are red,
    Big Cats will wear blue,
    If we sign studs,
    NCAA, go hump your cousin.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Most good teams run pick plays all the time. They hardly get called unless they are @ the goal line.

UAT runs one where the ref is the pick. I like that idea. Maybe AU can run it next year.

I saw the 'no call holding' on Zeimba and was fine with it. I wanted the block in the back call on Carpenter on the flair pass, on UAT side of the ball, where AU got a facemask penalty.

Most calls work themselves out. Those happened out in the open and was surprised neither was called.

I have no problem with the BCW stuff. Secondary violations are like Ruffles with Ridges, you just can't have one.

    ReplyDelete
  131. heard that the under armour h.s. all-star game will be around the same time and place as our bowl game. good recruiting time.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Wakerider where that come from?

    ReplyDelete
  133. Whatever Auburn does is golden.

    Whatever Bama does is despicable.

    This applies to all circumstances.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Anonymous10:05 PM

    exactly wtc..

I've never seen a pick play called that wasn't near the end zone.

    ReplyDelete
  135. I'm not foolish enough to think that the kid who steals a bag of candy has commited as much of wrong as Bernard Maddoff.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Facebook Carmela, I'm a loser who is friends with some of our football players.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Dmiller-Harris is off the board now. Next.

    ReplyDelete
  138. bear, i know what you mean, many people say they are sports fans, but that is overstated, i have been places hundreds of times where a big time sports celebrity is right next to them and they had no clue. too funny, but yea i understand.

    ReplyDelete
  139. So rumors rumbling FSU is gonna hire Bud Foster away from Va Tech, that would be nice for ole Jimbo

    ReplyDelete
  140. so, FSU is stealing defensive players from Bama, and don't even have a DC. Awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  141. That is not a pretty injury for Oregon State, he does not look happy. You gotta feel for the kid.

    ReplyDelete
  142. You know, Rodney Garner could coach TEs and special teams. Just sayin'.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I'm really happy. I can hate FSU in peace, finally. I've always hated them, but found Bowden to be fun to listen to, and believed him to be a generally good guy. With him gone, and Jimbo at the helm, I can hate with no internal conflict.

  144. How do these compare to what UT got for all of their secondary violations?

    ReplyDelete
  145. wtc... I never thought Harris was a serious option for AU...

    ReplyDelete
  146. PF...
Are you in my head? I had that exact sequence of thoughts yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  147. If you ain't secondarily violatin', you ain't recruitin'.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I've pooped bigger secondary violations than that.

    ReplyDelete
  149. WTC, if you did, then I consider that a lack of institutional control.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Was institutional or intestinal?

  151. The OSU HC is a bammer.

    Go Gaytah.

  154. Ummm, Jay, could you post a more depressing thread than the last two? I'm still breathing.

  155. Ducks-Beavers is a tad entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Did anyone hear the legitimate disbelief in the announcers voice when Erin said that was the second broken helmet of the night.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Ducks/Beavers is always entertaining, but when they refered to the wild beaver, it sounded pretty scary.

    ReplyDelete
  158. JGT that hurts to hear about Masoli, he is a stud...
Nice game we got going here

    ReplyDelete
  159. Ducks have been down to the beavers all night... but the Ducks just went up...

  160. Wild Beaver.... sounds interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I'm married. I wouldn't know anything about that.

    ReplyDelete
  162. Just got home and flipped the game one when they were talking about it....it's loud there.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Interesting on how things work out.
Neil Caudle was rated as the 7th best QB in 2006, behind, Stafford,Mitch Mustain, Josh Freeman.
Just ahead of Chris Smelley (went to So Carolina and now plays baseball at UAT)Greg McElroy was 11th, Sam bradford was 12th, Christian ponder was 14th.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Did anyone else find Craig James of Legeritt Blount and LeMichael James as , "A heck of a 1-2 punch." a tad inappropiate

  170. A Trooper B-ball note- his son plays on the 8th grade team at Auburn. He was also quite the punt-returner(ironic I know)on the 8th grade football team this past football season.

    ReplyDelete
  171. So Garner may be leaving UGA... and Orgeron may be leaving UT...
    interesting...

    ReplyDelete
  172. Nite hotties, it's tomorrow already in the ETZ.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Garner a possibility as DC at Memphis... Vic Koening name mentioned as possibility as DC at UGA...
Orgeron possibly heading back to USC

    ReplyDelete
  174. They sure love to rush the field up there....

    ReplyDelete
  175. Congrats Oregon. I'm for pretty much anybody over USC.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I'm not a big fan of the SEC's stance on rushing the field. You telling me you wouldn't have wanted to do it if we had beat Bama?

    ReplyDelete
  177. I don't know wake...we might be a little too crazy. Something bad is likely.

    ReplyDelete
  178. wow, it's taken me 30 minutes just to get caught up here. I soooo wanted to watch the game last night, but was feeling real yucky. So I went to sleep instead. Woke up at 2 and watched highlights. What a great game!

I'm over Rodney Garner. Memphis sounds like a great place for him.

Thanks for all that recruiting talk. Sounds most interesting.

    WARRRRRR EAGLE!!! and TGIF!!!

  179. FIVE TICKETS available in the HABOTN section for the Outback Bowl. That's section 232, on the Auburn side of the field. Assuming it's sunny, the sun will be at your back, not in your eyes. $80 per ticket includes shipping. If interested, contact me via email link on my blogger profile.

    GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!

  180. "I wanted the block in the back call on Carpenter on the flair pass, on UAT side of the ball, where AU got a facemask penalty."

    Me too.

  181. Wake,

If we rushed the field if we had beaten Alabama I would have been greatly disappointed. I hated when we did it against Florida in 2001. It's just not what fans that are at a top level program do. You rush the field when you never win those kinds of games, when you are never expected to win those games, you don't do it when you see yourself as equal or better than the program you are playing.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Well maybe not greatly disappointed, but we're better than that.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Regarding Rollison's suspension:
    diggerforAu said...
He will find out this ain't high school and if he ever wants to see the field at Auburn he better get with the program.

Exactly, Digger. I hope he takes heed!

I still think BCW made a big impact on the "PSAs". What exactly is a "secondary violation"?

  184. RK ...

When you don't know who you are, that's the type of thing you do. Of course, when you have more uniform combinations than lottery ticket combinations, you don't know who you are.

Yeah, see. We weren't expected to win that game...and we aren't equal or better than that Bama team. We were worse (thus the loss), but played harder and almost came away with a pretty big upset. You can sit in your seat with your golf clap and old person pride. I'm pretty happy if the students are excited. I was a student once and it was great to get so excited that I would want to jump over the bushes and run around like a fool. Yeah, running around like a fool pretty much makes you one, but it feels really good when you're doing it.

  191. TGIF Hotties!!!!!

Got to watch the 4th quarter at the Gym this morning of the Oregon / Oregon State Game. Very good game.

    Jay G- Loved that link.
