Schedule update

Hey everyone. Sorry for the lack of posts here lately. I spent some time with the eye doctor on Monday, changed my eyeglass prescription and it took some time to see well sans headache.

I'm better now. Thanks for asking.

Auburn practices today beginning at 1:50 p.m. I'll be there. The best news for you? The first 30 minutes (allegedly) are open to Le Media, so you (allegedly) can expect a video around 3 p.m. That should be fun.

ALSO OF NOTE: Several unsigned prospects will be making significant announcements today. DL Craig Sanders and LB Jessel Curry are expectted to announce plans to enroll at Auburn in January. A few important junior-college players will make decisions today as well.

UPDATE ONE: Our friends at AuburnSports.com report that Craig Sanders, a DL from Ariton High, has signed with the Tigers. He'll enroll in January.

See you then.

  3. I love QB races.....

I hope we can land those JUCO linemen.... it will make recruiting Lache and Latt a little easier if they know they have some mules upfront...

  4. imma let u finish JG, but are those Kanye West glasses you got? word.

  5. Good morning, hotties!! I have missed you. Been trying to read and keep up. I have been slammed with another terrible cold! I am never sick and this is the third cold I have had this fall. Getting tired of it, but finally coming back to the land of the living.

    wrc,
I'm glad you don't keep up with recruiting.

  6. Mosley is as good as signed.

  7. I'm really happy fah you...

  8. I'm going to be out driving all day and won't be able to keep up with the recruiting news on here... Not Cool.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I can yell the information if you prefer.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Smoke signals also available

    ReplyDelete
  11. If hottie A leaves their destination at 6:00am, traveling 60 miles per hour, and Bammer B causes a massive pileup, how long will it take Hottie A to get to work?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jay,
    LOVE the new videos btw

    ReplyDelete
  13. wake, your phone doesn't have the interconnects? You're practically Amish.

    ReplyDelete
  14. HABOTN smoke signals? sweet homes.

sorry to hear that Cincy. hope you feel better.

    and PF....hahahaha. sorry bubba.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Speaking of Bammers in Miami, I had no idea there were any until they won the SECCG. Since then, I've seen no less than 2 cars per day flying dark pink flags. I know, I know. You people in Alabama deal with this every day of the year, but I'm not used to it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. JayGT - re: Mosley, are you talking Brandon?

I'm very happy to hear you are sans headaches. You sure it was the glasses and not all your HABOTN children?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Practically Amish - sounds like a great name for an Emo band.

    ReplyDelete
  18. HABOTN smoke signals, huh? Send some of those my way.

    ReplyDelete
  19. So I been living in this cabin on Lake Eufaula for the past month (my family's not moving until after the holidays). No cable, no internet. I was rummaging around last night and what did I find on VHS?

  21. From Mario Lopez, writer for CalSportsDigest.com...

It all comes down to this. College of the Sequoias (Visalia, Ca) offensive tackle Roszell Gayden will make his college decision today at 4 p.m. PT. The 6-foot-7, 310-pound road grader will sign with either Auburn, California or Oklahoma.

  22. Sensi, what the heck is that goob doing in your avatar? He appears to be air fishing.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Cincy: Glad you like them. It's easier for me this way ... so it's a win-win.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes the smoke signals sound wonderful thanks.

And its apparent I am getting old everytime I see a smart phone. I say things like "new fangled" and "damn techno-gadgets"

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm so old. I had to go to wiki to learn about "emo bands".

    ReplyDelete
  26. THT - apparently I need to research it too. I thought it had to do with that horrible comedian with that same name.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Have you ever seen a poor little boy who's clothes don't fit crying? Then you know emo.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nope. Sorry.

I've seen my soon to be 3 y/o future 4* crying because he doesn't want to get dressed, or for a variety of other reasons. Does that count?

    ReplyDelete
  29. So AC Slater is a sportswriter, makes sense as he was a top notch wrestler at Bayside.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The future 4* is an emo kid? If he starts wearing black eye liner, spank him...that'll probably cause him to rebel further, but at least you won't feel like there's more you could've done to prevent it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. E-Bro said " We need to start the season a week earlier or end it a week later and make sure these guys two off weeks during the season, not just one."

That's going to be a problem, E-Bro. When NCAA expanded season to 12 games a few years ago, they did not expand the number of weeks allowed to play those games. The same rules for when a season starts/finishes apply for 12 game season as for 11 game season. At least, that's what I recall reading once upon a time. All teams in conferences with a championship game lose a potential bye week.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Buffalo figured out the rest issue. Finish the season with games played Saturday, Tuesday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. Days between games: 10, 7, 8, 9...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Jay G, you may have announced, but who'd you vote for for COY?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I didn't vote for national COY.

I guess I forgot. It would have been Brian Kelly.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Fall Out Boy = just another group which Norm is not familiar with.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah, lets extend the season, but don't bring up playoffs, and the fact division 2 is going from 12 teams to 20 teams for their playoff. Don't mention Mal Moore being scared to death of teams after bye weeks either, i guess he will want ours the first week of the year instead of before bama. I guess nobody will get to play bama after bye week now.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Bin:

Scared of teams after a bye week? If that were the case we would have not shown up to a bunch of games this year.

    ReplyDelete
  38. FSJ,

You've won 13 games and your AD is complaining about his tough schedule. Bless his heart.

    ReplyDelete
  39. ...and how would fear = not showing up?

Who was it that said they play every game with fear and thrive off of it?

    ReplyDelete
  40. speaking of obscure bands, does anyone else like the Baton Rouge band, Potliquor? They predate Practically Amish and other emo bands.

    ReplyDelete
  41. B-Matt reports that Craig Sanders, DL from Ariton, has signed with Auburn.

    ReplyDelete
  42. wtc definitely has a Dungeons Masters Guide (as mentioned in a song sung by Rivers Cuomo).

    ReplyDelete
  43. I understand that Coach Chiz was waiting on Gayden when he returned from his visit to Cal.

Gayden, Moseley, and Adams are AU bound!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Yea! Last year I was hoping we could sign Sanders, then in the spring he committed to that other school and I was very disappointed. Today is a most happy occasion.

Thanks for keeping me informed, Recruiting Sleuth Tate.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Mr. S peeks out his head like a turtle, which is apropos since he has a fat little turtle for an avatar.

    ReplyDelete
  46. MY whole thing with this is how can you complain about it. Ya gotta play someone after your bye week. Our bye being earlier might have won us another game. It seems pretty slap fight like to me to complain about this. I guess we need to move the IB back to B'ham, too. Gino Toretta and Rashaad Salaam called.....

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jason White, too.......

    ReplyDelete
  48. A quick story on C Sanders.
When AU coaches made the now famous limo ride around the state, they stopped at his school and made a big pslash in the paper. Of course the local call-in show in Montgomery was doggin' the limo thing, and I think two days later Snaders commits to UA. Longshore ripped AU coaches for the pitiful showing of the limo ride and how lame it was, etc. (Didn't get any recruits, this is childish, I wouldn't be impressed by it, etc.)

I haven't listened in about 3 motnhs, but I would guess he hasn't brought that up again. I am not saying it worked, but I would not expect him to give it any credit for working in AU's favor.

    ReplyDelete
  49. so Big Ten+1 may expand to a dozen.

ESPN's Big Ten blogger "Here's my realistic list of Big Ten expansion possibilities:

    Missouri
    Syracuse
    Pittsburgh
    Nebraska
    Rutgers
    ______________

ok, he's smoking something funny. Why on earth would Missouri or Nebraska want to leave the Big 12 for a crappy conference?
Pittsburgh seems the best option from both sides of the equation. But Big 10's yearning for east coast presence may help Rutgers or Syracuse. Either of those would weaken the conference.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ole Dogs Big Ten candidates in order:
    Notre DAme
    Pitt
    Syracuse
    TCU

    ReplyDelete
  51. Just shows the Big Ten's detachment from reality of they think they can get Missouri and Nebraska, though maybe those teams feel it will be easier to get to a BCS Bowl in the Big (not) Ten. Probably right.

Still, I don't see anyway that happens.

    ReplyDelete
  52. anybody think Kentucky would consider jumping to the Big Ten+1?

I bet WVa would love an invite. HA! Ain't gonna happen.

    tOSU will blackball Cincinnati.

    Maybe Louisville?

    ReplyDelete
  53. If Brandon Mosley signs with Auburn, that is huge. He was the least likely of the five early signings I thought we were going after. I had read that FSU and Ole Nutt were ahead of us.

Curry and Sanders were considered locks. Gayden was likely. Adams was possible. Mosley is the one I didn't think we would get. I hope this news is true.

    ReplyDelete
  54. E-Bro - that was a list of Adam Rittenberg, an ESPN Big Ten blogger, not from the conference.

Digger, ND wants no part of the Big Ten.

TCU would jump at the opportunity, but I think Big Ten will be motivated by vanity, i.e. they want everyone to see them. So, I think they'll look in the general direction of NYC. I hope I'm wrong and that they use logic and good sense in their choice.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anonymous10:24 AM

If I read correctly, the ESPN blogger is projecting Missou or Neb to go to the Big10, not the Big 10 projecting such. As usual, it is an ESPN guy that is under presssure to say "something/anything" that has put out delusional.

Momma says: "talk long enough and you will eventually say stoopid stuff".

    ReplyDelete
  56. Notre Dame already competes in the Big 10 in basketball if I am not mistaken, but I think they will still be a no go in terms of football.

I have read about Kentucky being a possibility, but I don't really see it. Kentucky could do themselves a bigger favor and join the Big East. Let Georgia Tech back into the SEC and that would work very well for me.

I have heard the Missouri and Nebraska talk, as well as Iowa State. Iowa State might make more sense here, but Nebraska would be huge.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Iowa State would make a lot of sense, but I seriously doubt the Big Ten+1 wants them.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Anonymous10:34 AM

I think that Gayden is very important, wish we could get 2 Juco OL in Jan.

Watching Curry in the GHSA AA CG, he is a smart, savvy ballplayer with excellent fundamentals. He will probably need spend a year or 2 bulking up enuff to contribute at MLB, similar to how Bynes does now. I don't think he is fast enough to play on the outside in the SEC. Of course our LB depth issues may cause him to be on the field next season, especially on special teams.

Regardless of all that...getting him in Jan. to count as a 2009 recruit is awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Anonymous10:38 AM

I prefer Ky in the SEC. it gives us more basketball cred and their location is not a recruiting threat.

A successful GT in the SEC would compete against AU much more for recruits than now.

    ReplyDelete
  60. The Big 10 just wants to get to 12 so they can have a championship game, so Iowa State is a possibility, but adding Nebraska would definitely be the shocker. Adding Pitt would make a lot of sense too.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I would love GT in the SEC, and yes it would be more competition. The ACC swapping GT for Kentucky wouldn't be bad either. The ACC with Kentucky basketball would be pretty awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I realized it was the Big Ten Blogger's wishlist and no the Big Ten's, but let's face it, he's basically an extension of the Big Ten. Just like Low is a homer for the SEC, I'm sure this guy is a bit of a homer for the Big Ten.

When I said the Big Ten was delusional, I meant the Big Ten in general, its fans and media included.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Anonymous10:43 AM

I guess the Big 10+1 wants to position for a conference playoff. I can see ND or maybe Pitt. Anyone else would just be a filler team to get to 12.

Would this conference then be named the "Big-12-Too"?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Why would Kentucky leave SEC money for Big East money? That's just crazy talk. Besides, the SEC would find a way to keep them for basketball.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Anonymous10:44 AM

Playing GT regularly again would be great.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anonymous10:48 AM

PF ..agreed ...the Ky fans I know relish the fact that they regularly own SEC BBall. Their newfound FB success is OK also.

I would expect a an earthquake in the Bluegrass if theis was seriously considered.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hoopie - I think they would be the Lesser XII Conference.

E-Bro - those yanks are all delusional, and not just about their football.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think Pitt or Cincy would make a good addition. Although ND would be the logical choice.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Anonymous10:56 AM

I was reading yesterday that Mosley dropped AU...G- why do you think he has all but signed? I would like to get rid of Arkansas and get ND to join the SEC so we could put them in their place.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I know Notre Dame is not interested in joining the Little 11 but it would make sense for them to. They do not want to lose their lucrative contract with NBC. Plus they can continue to play U of Lollipop and get a pass for doing so.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm gonna start writing random stuff on the HABOTN so I can come back later and say "I read that..."

    ReplyDelete
  72. by the way, I read that Kentucky was an option for the Big East.

I think South Florida will be the next SEC team.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I read that "South Florida will be the next SEC team."

    ReplyDelete
  74. I read somewhere, can't remember where that south Flaorida is going to be the next SEC member? Any one else see this and does it have legs.

    ReplyDelete
  75. PF...the next step is to start referring to yourself in the third person.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Remove Arkansas from the SEC, they don't fit in anyway and add Georgia Tech or Louisville.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Peter Frankenschmidt is a badass, as opposed to an asshat, like SteveFC.

    ReplyDelete
  78. The third person thing would be great.

Also, put the article "The" in front of your name when referring to yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Is it plagiarism if you repeat your own lies?

    ReplyDelete
  84. dig - If you cite your source properly, I think you're alright.

    ReplyDelete
  85. someone titled a blog post "Frankenbummer" in 2006. I don't know why, and the blog doesn't explain it. I thought Michael or Jay G was the author of that term. Hmmm.

    ReplyDelete
  86. A hottie citing a source? Hahahaha. The Hot One is required to do that. His example is largely ignored.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Norm I will remember to do that.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Most of my sources are just my imagination running away with me.

So should I always site The Temptations or maybe the cover version that the Rolling Stones did of that song?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Temptations should be avoided unless you know like Tiger that you will never be caught.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Coach $atan is quite ill. It's serious. How do I know? My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw him pass out at 31 Flavors last night.

  91. Reuters and AP still waiting for confirmation.

    YES but here it is

    ReplyDelete
  94. It's never too early. I'll be gutted if we don't win in Tampa, but I'm already in a 2010 frame of mind.

  95. Jay,

Glad to hear that you are taking care of your eyesight. Good vision is a blessing, something I can assure you that I don't take for granted since I have type II diabetes. I am scheduled for my eye exam soon also and believe me, I will be there hoping for a good report. Continue to take care of yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I had to take a look at some of the results from the early pick. And ya know for the most part the teams that they have put in the top 10 end up in the BCSCG and occasionally the teams listed as 1 and 2 in the AP actually make it to the end (04 and 05 most recently). But doing a quick glance, about 50% of the teams they list in their top 10 are not there by seasons end.

  99. Juco Standout Mosley Signs With Auburn

    ReplyDelete
  100. so that's three signed today?

Who are these people? Why should I be excited about them? Are they gonna pull hot tail?

    ReplyDelete
  101. we could really benefit from a Mosley Hat Trick in this signing class. Come on, C.J.!!!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Cincy,

I am running a bit late today with my posts, but I am really glad that you are better. I sure wished that you were going to the OB Bowl, I would love to meet you. Any chance it may happen?

    ReplyDelete
  103. Brandon Mosley, most recent signee, is from Georgia, by way of CoffeyvilleCC in Kansas. He prefers playing TE, but mostly played DE in JUCO. I've read on some AU blog somewhere that he's likely an OL project for AU. So, who knows. We just signed a DE or TE or OL. Take your pick.

    ReplyDelete
  104. either way,its a good signing, right THT?

    ReplyDelete
  105. ...and I've still got up to 5 tickets for Cincy if she figures out a way to go.

btw, IV, you'll be sitting directly behind 2.0.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Can't answer that for at least another year, mytommyd.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Is the answer
    B,
    C,
    D, or
    E (all of the above)

E!!! We want Brandon, CJ, and Dakota in Auburn!!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Just reported that Gayden will be an Auburn Tiger!!! That's huge!

    ReplyDelete
  109. THT,

Do you think I can handle that? The picture you sent of the tickets show that I am getting show seats 2, 3 & 4, of course I have to sit in 4, where else would IV sit? I have a feeling that my senior, Digger, is sitting in seat 1 on the same row the IV threesome will be sitting. I have tried and tried to get Mrs. IV to go along, but to no avail. That would have relieved you of one of the five you have left. It is not to late yet to get her to go. We will see.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Our coaches are setting a standard that's going to have an effect and hopefully will continue for many years to come. I really like the way they are working.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Lunch time. Out for awhile. Carry on.

    ReplyDelete
  112. So for all those that were worried about our O-line recruiting....guess that answered that. Nice job Chizik and Company!!!

This OL class will be rated close to best in the nation in the recruiting rankings when it is said and done.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Nap time already Eddie?

    ReplyDelete
  114. reported where, Eddie?

I was thinking that since JAYGTATE has been scarce since early this a.m., he must be on his way to California to live blog Gayden's signing event. I can't wait ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  115. Nap time is about to end for Abby and then we are off to the Studios.

    ReplyDelete
  116. THT- It's on Rivals. Gayden is faxing in his papers now.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Gayden, Mosley, Curry, and Sanders all in. So who will be the 5th? Adams

    ReplyDelete
  118. I thought Gayden wasn't signing until 6pm?

    ReplyDelete
  119. Forgive my ignorance on January enrollees, but is 5 the limit?

    ReplyDelete
  120. Christmas covered-dish at the office ...

    Honey baked ham
    Turkey
    dressing
    green bean casserole
    sweet potato casserole
    mac/cheese
    corn casserole
    butter beans
    creamed corn
    squash casserole
    collards
    pineapple casserole
    homemade roll

And that was before I hit the dessert table.

    ReplyDelete
  121. That's what I thought, too, PF.

JAYGTATE is going to be really steamed iwhen he gets out to California to live blog Gayden's signing and he finds out the party is over.

Btw, how do I know JGT is gone to California to live blog it for us? I read it somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Peter- That was the story originally, but he went ahead and sent it in according to his Coach. I'm not sure on the number of people you can sign in December, but I believe it is in accordance to how many scholarships you have used from the class that you signed in February and along with the 85 max. I think this staff is only going after the number of quality players it think can make this team a contender. I believe they could sign more than 5, but WTC would have to confirm that. I'm not 100% sure.

    ReplyDelete
  123. What's everybody's limit on schnitzengruber?

    ReplyDelete
  124. Off to the parks. Catch you all later!

    ReplyDelete
  125. Anonymous12:54 PM

Early grads can enroll and count back one recruiting class. The number depends on how many players under the 25 class limit a team is. In Auburn's case I think we had 20 enroll this past year. So that is why the coaches are trying to get 5. Of course you still have to make sure you don't go over the 85 limit which in Auburn's case is no problem..thanks former coach that I can not name.

    ReplyDelete
  126. You think the dude in the Auburn sweatshirt there to support of oppose the Scientology resort in Sandy Springs?

    ReplyDelete
  127. It's twue, it's twue.

    ReplyDelete
  128. if we bring in 5 towards last year, and 25 for '10, that's close to 50 right there for '09 and '10. That leaves only 35 for the '07, '08, and '06 (redshirt) classes.

Who likes to crunch numbers? Tell us whether or not we'll have to jettison some current scholarship players if we do add 5 to the '09 class and a full 25 in the '10 signing class.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I can't believe we got Mosley. I just read the other day where we were third behind FSU and Ole Nutt. This is very impressive. All of these early signings are players that can contribute. I like Sanders and his 400 pound bench press. He is a monster.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Frankenbummer just read today that he is awesome. Awesomeness really helps in life.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Last year's class and the year before lost some due to Chizik kicking them off the team. We only brought in 19 or 20 last year and not all of them are still around. I do think we could be easily over 80 here, which would get us back into the normal range. I am very excited. I am convinced that most of our decline in defense was due to some players playing every snap. I am looking forward to seeing a lot of new blood on the field. Several of the incoming linebackers will play immediately.

    ReplyDelete
  132. scout has reported juco te/ol brandon mosley has signed with AU.

    ReplyDelete
  133. It is on rivals too. We got Mosley. Very impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I am convinced that most of our decline in defense was due to some players playing every snap.

    Convinced, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  135. I would like to give credit to the right person but don't know who was first.
But I understand that Mosely is signing with Auburn
Please take the claim if you think it is you.

    ReplyDelete
  136. I just read that they are taking the Heisman away from Ingram, details to come out shortly.

    ReplyDelete
  137. They are taking the Heisman from Ingram, more to come.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Oh, I did that out of order didn't I PF?

    ReplyDelete
  139. For the less educated.

Convinced - to bring (as by argument) to belief, consent, or a course of action : persuade

    ReplyDelete
  140. What are you insinuating there?

    ReplyDelete
  141. I get confused sometimes...I was working on the new PF rule, but geez I got it backwards.

  142. digger, I said as recently as last night that Mosley was going to FSU or Ole Nutt. I am shocked by that one. Of the five I thought we were trying to sign, I thought him the least likely, with Adams a little more likely. Curry and Sanders were most likely. Gayden is someone I felt pretty good about, too.

    ReplyDelete
  143. AU has received signed papers from Sanders, Curry, Brandon Mosely, and Roszell Gayden today.
Ken Adams has supposedly delayed his decision.

Picking up Gayden is a huge pickup! Look for Brandon Mosley to redshirt and Gayden is probably the front runner for the starting RT gig.

  144. SteveFC and Peter Frankenschmidt will meet at the monkey bars after school today to address a "significant difference of opinion," sources are telling TMZ.com

  145. I'm convinced that three hours is too long for a conference call, even if I am working from home.

    ReplyDelete
  146. So there was an argument otherwise, asshat? C'mon, you're convinced, like that's some groundbreaking thing that came to you after much thought and cosideration? Educate me on the process you took to get there.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Has anyone heard that Adams may not sign due to grades? I saw a comment about that from a very unreliable source.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I read that PF and SteveFC are going to rumble later today, pass it along.

    ReplyDelete
  149. PF, educating you would be like trying to teach a rock to speak. No thanks.

  151. I prefer the flagpole area...and for the record, I was just ballbusting until someone decided to become an educator.

    ReplyDelete
  152. That would be Ken Adams, the Auburn signee who didn't qualify and committed to UT. Supposedly we had a shot with him but I have read where he may have grade issues that would prevent him from signing early.

As for Harry Adams, I would color him gone.

    ReplyDelete
  153. PF prefers flagpoles, CNN reports.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Dude, my rocks talk all kind of smack. It's awesome. I'm a genius.

    ReplyDelete
  155. VolQuest is reporting Ken Adams torn between Auburn, Tennessee, and North Carolina and that he will not sign today. If he doesn't sign early, I think we pass on him.

    ReplyDelete
  156. PF and his love of flagpoles will be the subject of a BBC documentary.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Is anyone else aware of another early signee we are pursuing besides Curry, Gayden, Sanders, Mosley, and Adams?

    ReplyDelete
  158. Leon Hart and Lee Tilley.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Leon Hart's elligibility is over. Tilley I don't know about.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Frankenbummer read somewhere that the BBC is coming to America for something about flagpoles....don't let them take our flags!

    ReplyDelete
  161. We signed both of them too early, I think they are ready now.

    ReplyDelete
  162. How about Greg Smith? A long time back I read where he thought he would play the first game after he arrived on campus. He is suppose to be a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Greg Smith is another good choice, but I'm not sure how well he did at Chattanooga State other than he is over drawn on his cafeteria card.

    ReplyDelete
  164. JaMarcus Russell? Has he got off the sweet leaf yet?

Trey Blackmon? The greatest linebacker for about 3 games Auburn has ever had.

It just goes to show you that until they actually do something, there is no telling.

Clint Moseley may end up being the biggest surprise of all. Both Trooper and Malzahn seem high on him. If I remember correctly, he came from a very small school, so he is going to be very interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  165. What was the name of that offensive linemen we got from FSU? Was it Aubrey Phillips? What happened with him?

    ReplyDelete
  166. Ken Adams? I wonder if that's the same Ken Adams I went to high school with in days of yore. I'll ask him and report back to you.

    ReplyDelete
  167. There are a couple of guys Auburn would love to have that would be early enrollees, but they are currently committed to other schools. Not sure if they have sent in papers yet or not.
Interesting theory being tossed about that Adams is waiting on what Auburn wants to do before signing, ratherthan AU waiting on Adams. (meaning, do they want one of the other guys or Adams)
The names that come to mind are Lawrence Gibson (prep OL from Hargrave) and Bruce Irvin (JuCo LB). Dequan Menzie (JuCo DB) might still be on the radar, but doubtful.

  168. Thanks D Miller.

By the way, for those of you concerned about the economy, things appear to be getting better. The company I work for announced a surprise bonus for the end of the year and we are actually getting raises in 2010, which is new. Hopefully this means things are getting better everywhere.

  169. FYI-AU would really like to sign Ken Adams. He took his last class/exam the other day. No details yet as to whether he passed. If not, AU will not wait on him. The reason AU was slow to warm to him earlier was his grade situation (from what I have heard). He supposedley is delaying his announcement to see whether he is a December grad or not. Would not be good to announce you are coming to AU and then not graduate in Dec and have AU not want you any longer.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Dmiller-I think Irvin is now a fall back plan if Adams is out of the picture. Not 100% sure, but AU wants Adams if he graduates. I was told today, AU will not wait very long though.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Norm - does he still have eligibility?

    ReplyDelete
  172. Thanks wtc. I had read that somewhere, but I didn't consider it credible.

    ReplyDelete
  173. rats! I type too slowly.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Very true. I think AU gives Adams some leeway, but they can't afford to wait on him forever. They need to fill that 5th spot.

    ReplyDelete
  175. THT - probably so, since to the best of my recollection he never played football. But, maybe he's a phenom/natural athlete even if he is nearing 50.

    ReplyDelete
  176. You remind me of the kid a while back that announced he was going to sign with a school that never made him an offer.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Norm, I await in awe of your awesome page flipping awesomenosity.

    ReplyDelete
  178. For those that do not know, Gayden is a BIG guy (6'7" 310lbs) that has played for 2 years in JUCO. He should be one of the starting tackles next year. His last visit was to Cal on 12/11/09 and when he returned home, Chizik had already flown out to Cali to visit him when he returned. AU really wanted this kid. They got him. These coaches know what they want and have worked hard to get it. Just thinking how many ex coaches would have done that?
