Auburn engineers upset in Baton Rouge

Hey everyone. Just a short note ...

The Auburn women have beaten No. 11 LSU at the Maravich Assembly Center. It was the best game I've seen this season.

Alli Smalley hit a 23-foot shot with :03 remaining to force overtime. The Tigers moved ahead with approximately 1:30 remaining in overtime on a shot by Jordan Greenleaf. LSU went scoreless during its final four possessions -- including a botched, open layup at the buzzer.

Auburn (10-6) was led by point guard Morgan Toles and center KeKe Carrier, who finished with 17 points apiece.

It's the team's first SEC win in three tries. The Tigers lost at Florida in double overtime Thursday.

  1. Great win by the ladies!

  2. I ran across an article on the war eagle reader that quoted Tuberville before the 2008 season as saying Lubbock looked like the surface of the moon.

Out of curiosity I did a virtual drive around Lubbock. The surface of the moon is a little harsh, but it definitely isn't the loveliest village on the plains. There seems to be a dirt theme. Trees are small. Everything is flat. I don't think Tubbock will be in my vacation plans.

  3. Kathy...I posted this comment in the last thread in response to your link. If you'll allow me:

All due respect to James Willis's title of associate head coach, but wasn't his move to Bama more or less a lateral one?

    Coach Saban...just...stop talking.

    ReplyDelete
  4. This game is a good sign for ladie's basketball. Sure, you are going to occasionally have a down year, but they will be back.

    ReplyDelete
  5. They'll be back soon.

    ReplyDelete
  6. But will Ashley Judd be back soon?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hahaha, I just read where Tuberville promised a little more running at Texas Tech. Define a litte? Maybe 30 to 40 carries a game? This will be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Jay,
You never said if you were up for a little indoor soccer?

    ReplyDelete
  9. JayG-From your previous thread.

I don't think UA winning makes Chizik's job harder. I don't think it makes it easier either. It is a win and AU will have to work hard anyway. But a bigger question would a UA fan even care? I heard the got bye week from the NFL this weekend anyway and will play the cowboys next week.

  10. SO UGA has now offered K Smart $700k per for 3 years to come to UGA as the DC. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Sound like a lateral move to you?

    ReplyDelete
  12. $700k could make me forget I was on or near a septic tank.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I wish someone would offer me a lateral job at that salary.

Wait a minute, does that mean a lateral move as someone else's wife? Nevermind...

    ReplyDelete
  14. I guess it depends on whether he is leaving your program or coming to your program, doesn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Anyone that takes until 2010 to figure out who Ashley Judd is had zero credibility in any area.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Just heard that Saban told Smart he could not talk to the media until Sabn told him he could.

    ReplyDelete
  17. What if Smart talks to the media to tell them he's going to Georgia? Does Saban suspend him at that point?

    ReplyDelete
  18. The evil empire winning can benefit Auburn. If the 2004 team had faced an undefeated evil empire in the Iron Bowl, they would have likely been in the BSCG.

    ReplyDelete
  19. He has to get his permission PF.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'm out for awhile. Wish I had gotten up to go run today. Maybe Monday.

    ReplyDelete
  21. PF, I don't know most of the music groups these days. I saw the other day where Bounce had a number 1 hit. I have never heard of Bounce, but it is by choice.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anybody told Steve yet that Ashley is an actress not a singer?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Nothing you can say can justify that. She's a cultural icon, rabid sports fan, and most importantly, hot.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Steve, How's the weather in Belize?

    ReplyDelete
  25. About 73 degrees and clear at the moment.

By they way, in honor of Omnica everyone should watch the Big Love season premiere tonight at 8:00 AuST on HBO.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Steve, I bet you know who Tony Franklin is though.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You have an incredible grasp of the obvious, IV.

    ReplyDelete
  28. really a great game, alli's shot was clutch; That was a heartbreaker at UF thursday night and this gives them faith they can win in the SEC, now they can continue the streak against bama wednesday night!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I sure wished I could say the same for you.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks for you concern, but I really would prefer that you wouldn't say anything for me.

    ReplyDelete
  31. What can be said for you. Your turn PF.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I will not be watching Big Love nor Chuck tonight. Not sure what I'll watch but I can absolutely, positively guarantee you it will be neither of those selections. Though Chuck does have some easy on the eyes ladies from what I've seen on the commercials.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why would anyone want to work for a man who tells you when/who you can talk to? $aban is a joke. He might be a good coach, but he a terrible person in my book.

    ReplyDelete
  34. So did everyone like the final episode of "Auburn Everyday"?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Chuck DOES have a number of eye catching women.

But it's also a good, fun show.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Money will make you do it until you get tired of such treatment. Walmartian creater

    ReplyDelete
  37. Coaches asking assistants not to speak to the press isn't unusual, although Saban seems to take it to another level.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Who is Ashley Judd?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ask Steve, Michael. I think she is a singer though.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Where is Kristina? We need her to tell us if Michael is kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  41. She sings in a trio all by herself and a couple of goats.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Not me, PF. 50 is too much fun!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yeah, where is Kristina. Its been a while.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Most Coaches, when telling their assistants not to talk to the media, don't leak it to the media that they said such.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Seriously, where is Kristina? She hasn't been around since Christmas or before. Or I have missed her if she has.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I actually don't think I could survive 21 again, but I'd like to try.

    ReplyDelete
  47. If you ask a walmartian to take you to their evil leader where do you think you will end up?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Cincy, I like 70 much better.
as long as I am still breathing.

    ReplyDelete
  49. PF, that is a good point. Saban does seem to have some control freak in him.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Kristina ia alive and well somewhere in Alabama. I saw her commenting on Facebook.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I like Chuck. It's pretty mindless, fun entertainment. The agent who keeps a framed photo of Ronald Reagan in his apt is great. That would be Col. John Casey, played by Adam Baldwin.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Michael, Did you fire Kristina?

    ReplyDelete
  53. CH=B, loved the final episode of Auburn Everyday and I hope they continue doing the Auburn Preview using this format.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I wonder if we could get KeKe to play with the men's BB team? She might be a beast with them, then again she might hurt some of them in practice.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Can anyone reacall a coach leaving Saban for a step up? Also Smart went to UGA, but that would matter since Saban doesn't have any kind of loyalty to anyone or place.

    ReplyDelete
  56. *ditto was for PF.

I have nothing against Chuck, I have seen an episode or two, it just didn't make it into my rotation. Since there's no football, we'll probably watch something recorded after F4* goes to bed.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Kathy, how bout the comments from Chizik and some of the players at the end. Doesn't that just make you feel awsome inside? I like how he is running this program. I truely believe he loves Auburn and wants the players to love Auburn as well. How could the players not even know the fight song until chizik made them. What was the previous staff doing?

    ReplyDelete
  58. I think we are going to rewatch the AU-NW game. The two hour version.

    ReplyDelete
  59. THT...exactly. It's not the show with the most depth, but it's a lot of fun and it's a got little bit of everything: drama, comedy, and action. Then there is Yvonne StraHOTvski.

I dig it. I'll be watching tonight.

    ReplyDelete
  60. i gave up on heroes. it got stupider and stupider.

    I miss Monk :-(

    ReplyDelete
  61. Chuck is a great show. The woman on the show make Judd chick not look so good.

    ReplyDelete
  62. You mean the singer Ashley Judd?

    ReplyDelete
  63. I didn't fire Kristina. She might have quit. I don't know.

Anyone know if she went to Disney World before Christmas? I saw an Auburn fan that may or may not have been her... not sure though.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ashley Judd? Who's he?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Just had to change my picture back to Ali! She saved that game for overtime and then the other stepped up! What an exciting game...now can we get the guys to get on board?!

    ReplyDelete
  66. E-Bro said...

    Coach Saban...just..stop..talking

==I couldn't agree more..What incredibly stupid quotes those were in that AJC article. Great coach..but what a horrid little man..

    ReplyDelete
  67. Yeah, players being a less than familiar with the fight song in recent years is disappointing, but I'm not gonna get upset to the previous coaching staff about it.

I'm not sure Lac or Ronnie Brown could sing the fight song right now if you asked them to. That doesn't devastate me.

But hey, I do like that Chizik is going to do a better job witht hat. More importantly, it seems like he's going to do an even better job of recruiting.

    ReplyDelete
  68. She works for you Michael. You should know if she had vacation leave for Disney.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Kristina was at Disney before xmas, yes...according to Facebook.

    ReplyDelete
  70. When he's finished with the fight song, he should move on to the Alma Mater.

    ReplyDelete
  71. PF,
If you see Kristina on FB, would you tell her we miss her? The girls are a little outnumbered on here. Plus I need her to tell me if Michael is kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I have messaged with Kristina on Facebook. She's ensconced with non-HABOTN activities at the moment, that's all.

    ReplyDelete
  73. CH=B, they will definitely be Auburn Men when they leave! Every show makes me proud of our Auburn coaches and players. This was a special season. JJ made the right hire.

Cincy, I also have the 2-hr version of the game. I've watched it a few times. It will have to get me through the long winter.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I have finished my Auburn column for Monday's edition ... just in time for me to attend the 5:30 mass.

    See ya, peeps.

    ReplyDelete
  75. i think he should start with the Alma Mater. It almost makes me cry every time I sing it. MrsTHT and I love us some Auburn.

Yummy! Sweet potato french fries with supper.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I don't know the Alma Mater.

    Not all of it, anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  77. learn it tonight, E-Bro.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I know the original version with the API reference. How about you Digger?

    ReplyDelete
  79. furreal. learn it. love it.

    ReplyDelete
  80. THT...your wish is my command.

    ReplyDelete
  81. On the rolling plains of Dixie, 'neath the sun kissed sky, proudly stands our alma mater API, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  82. bro - I read that message from THT as more of a command to you rather than a wish. But, I get your point.

    ReplyDelete
  83. IV...already know that part, minus the API part.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I love the Auburn Creed. I could recite it when my daughter was at Auburn (she made me learn it) but it is a little rusty. I need to brush up on it.

    ReplyDelete
  85. THE ALMA MATER

On the rolling plains of Dixie
    'Neath its sun-kissed sky,
    Proudly stands, our Alma Mater
    Banners high.

To thy name we'll sing thy praise,
From hearts that love so true,
    And pledge to thee our
    Loyalty the ages through.

We hail thee, Auburn, and we vow
To work for thy just fame,
And hold in memory as we do now
    Thy cherished name.

    Hear thy student voices swelling,
    Echoes strong and clear,
    Adding laurels to thy fame
    Enshrined so dear.

From thy hallowed halls we'll part,
    And bid thee sad adieu;
Thy sacred trust we'll bear with us
    The ages through.

We hail thee, Auburn, and we vow
To work for thy just fame,
And hold in memory as we do now
    Thy cherished name.

  86. the alma mater and the creed are both awesome, the auburn band learns the alma mater at preseason camp as freshmen so i've known it since before the first day of classes!

    ReplyDelete
  87. We really should know the alma mater and the creed as well as we know the fight song. Otherwise we are just like the walmartians.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I don't know the Alma Mater by heart, but I'm nothing like the walmartians.

    I assure you.

I believe in Auburn and love it.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I do like the Auburn Creed. I do like to think that Auburn people hold themselves to a higher standard.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Thanks Cincy... I always sing it with the band! That's what separates us from the sidewalk alum. Auburn Men..gotta love it!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Indeed IV and it just doesn't sound right without the API. Althought I understand why it was dropped.
    IT just don't sound right!

    ReplyDelete
  92. Furthermore, I think it's safe to assume that there are no walmartian types on the HABOTN (that includes FSJ and Mark). It's what makes this place great.

That Eddie character is kind of a tool, though.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I know E-Bro, I don't know it fluently. But I wager you know more of it than most walmartians know of their alma mater - or even what an alma mater is!

    ReplyDelete
  94. E-Bro,
LOVE your avatar by the way.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Cincy, thanks for pointing out E-Bro's avatar. It is pretty unique:)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Green Bay is coming back. They just recovered an onside kick.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Looks like Arizona borrowed our ST coordinator.

    ReplyDelete
  98. This Green Bay comeback it looking very impressive. They are just down by 7 now.

    ReplyDelete
  99. WHo had the link earlier to Auburn Everyday. I would like to see the last episode.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I can't believe Green Bay has tied this one up. At one point they were down by 21.

    ReplyDelete
  101. That was a great move for the first down.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I'm going to crawl in bed. I'm HABOTN-incapable in bed right now, so...

    Good Night, Hotties!

    ReplyDelete
  103. This is a great game if you don't care about defense.

    ReplyDelete
  104. The war eagle reader actually has a picture of the coaches national title trophy at Walmart. Simply incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Good night THT. Hope your shoulder is healed soon.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Quite the comeback.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Holy Wide Left Batman!!! To OT we go!!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. The Cardinals players may invite their kicker to a blanket party latter tonight. That was a short field goal try.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I like the college OT better. Green Bay winning the coin toss may give them the game.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Thanks, Norm.

El Turbo called to give me the same message. I couldn't post it because I was answering the phone.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Tough break ... the officials see the obvious hold, and miss the helmet to helmet hit.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Aaron kicked the ball right to Dansby.

    ReplyDelete
  113. WTC did you find the episode? Go the the following link. You don't have to sign in. Just click the free events button and then click watch on the 1st video. http://all-access.cbssports.com/player.html?code=aub&media=136549

TC did you find the episode?

    ReplyDelete
  114. sorry for the crazy post. I was trying to post and include an earlier post.

    ReplyDelete
  115. sweet. the game didn't delay The Simpsons that long.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Can't wait for Chuck.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I can't believe The Simpsons is 20 years old. I have never seen a single episode.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Dansby does good:)

    ReplyDelete
  119. I haven't watched much Simpsons for a long time. I am more of a King of the Hill type guy, but I am really looking forward to the Big Love season premiere. It may be the best show on TV these days.

    ReplyDelete
  120. SteveFC,
that picture of the trophy is great; who would have ever thought the national championship trophy would be surrounded by cokes?

    ReplyDelete
  121. We have some really big prospects visiting this weekend. Whitaker, Thorton and Jones are three of the uncommitted guys coming in. I think we could know something on Sunday from at least one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  122. McFadden earned some props from Rivals. He was named to the All Bowl Team.

    ReplyDelete
  123. That NC trophy picture is pretty shocking. I wonder if Saban might be available to autograph bobble head dolls at Walmart at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  124. E-Bro...Tool...you are lucky I dragged you out of the shed to this place...

    ReplyDelete
  125. Sorry I made you cry.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Auburn Tigers.

    ReplyDelete
  127. My kids used to love that joke. We did it over and over and over :)

    ReplyDelete
  128. i guess i am the only one who saw this headline on twitter and excitedly came to read about some engineering competition that auburn lost in louisiana. Oh well. Congrats to the lady tigers.
