Auburn men lose at Vanderbilt

Hey everyone. Jeff Lebo and the gang lost their fourth SEC game in five tries today in Cashville, 82-74.

Auburn led by 13 points early in the second half. The Commodores went on an 11-2 run ... and the rest is history.

Lucas Hargrove led the way with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Vanderbilt was led by Jeffrey Taylor's 18 points.

The Tigers (10-10, 1-4) resume play Thursday night against Ole Miss. That one will be played at The Beav.

Eddie, explain the Favre hate. He is from the south, unconventional, and an old guy doing good. Why do you dislike him?

3:26 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Steve ... I don't like Favre either. He's a self-indulgent drama queen ... from southern Mississippi.

3:27 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Favre is a tool. The way he went out of Green Bay is absolutely classless. The guy has been as good and bad for his teams thru the years. If I lean to one team that I root for in the NFL, it would probably be the Packers. I can't stand that Favre and he is nothing more than a glorified drama queen. I hope he gets killed today!

3:28 PM
Blogger Unknown said...

I admire how unconventional he is at times. He does things at times that are considered bad fundamentals, but he succeeds anyway. I do believe we faced Favre while he was at Southern Miss. Beat him, if I recall correctly.

Steve- For all the hype Favre has, he only has 1 ring. He chokes more times than succeeds in these moments in his career. I hope history keeps repeating itself.

Kathy- Yeah, If Bama was a player, it would be named Favre.

Miller - if my business data relied on it, there's no contest between Western Digital and Seagate. Seagate wins hands down. The corporate world and the Server and PC makers do too as they go with Seagate. However, for your purposes of an external drive for your home PC, you should be fine with a WD. I'm not aware of any issues there.

Next question?

Blogger Unknown said...

Eddie, I do like the Packers and wish Favre was still there. I actually have never been crazy about the Vikings. My most fond memory of them is when the got Hershel Walker to take them to the super bowl. Instead, they took Walker to retirement.

Sorry guys, but Jet and Eddie you are both wrong! Question, do either of you know Brett personally? Mrs 365 graduated from Southern Miss and we have been to his farm outside Hattiesburg quite a few times. He is nothing like you say just a guy who absolutely loves football ... as to all you think of him just remember you are judging from media and stories you hear

3:34 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Steve- Make no mistake, I do not wish that Favre was still with the Packers. I'm glad he is gone. Aaron Rodgers is better than Favre right now and at this same point in his career, he has way better numbers. I think Rodgers could end up being better than Favre and I will predict he wins more Superbowls than Favre.

I don't blame him for not quiting. He loves football. He know he is old. He just still apparently has the talent to play.

365- You don't say you are retired, you keep your options open if you still feel that way. Nobody is going to change my mind about this. I think Favre is one of the most overhyped QB's in my lifetime.

Yea, I have seen many do that. In Favre's case I am just glad I don't view him like I did Muhammad Ali and his comebacks. There is a point where you have to say enough is enough, but Favre still seems to have it. He is one of those QBs that aren't prototypical. You wouldn't teach a QB to do some of the things he does, but somehow he makes it work.

3:48 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

Steve- you are right, a conversation between you and I is a fruitless endeavor most of the time. You would take Favre based on his name, but Rodgers is now the better QB in reality.

365- It has nothing to do on whether you work or don't work, retire or not retire, it's how you handle your business. Favre, say what you want and I know you like the guy and have met him, but he has handled his business poorly in this manner.

Seagates makes some of the best HDDs (Barracuda, Momentus, SSDs). However not every seagate drive is a good drive.

Maxtor was a crappy brand (like LT mentioned). They went under and were bought by seagate. Both Seagate onetouch and Seagate FreeAgent are actually Maxtor HDDs.

I'm not very comfortable with seagate external HDDs for that reason. YMMV.

I'm sure Mr. and Mrs. Favre are nice people. But I'll stay with my opinion that a lot of Favre's histrionics have been self-indulgent -- evidenced by his appearance on the commercial for Sears.

I don't question his competitive fire, or his legacy as a player. But, like Eddie, I don't appreciate the way he's handled the situation.

Jhag is right ... Favre IS America. Hey, look at me.

My in-laws live in H-burg and my paw-in-law retired from USM. By all local H-burg accounts Farve is a nice guy on a personal basis.

My problem with Farve is that at the end of a season he announced his retirement ...then decided ..NOT.

Then he held a FAREWELL SEASON to say goodbye and then ....NOT

Then he came back and played for the Jets and then retired for the 3rd time and the ...NOT

Now he is playing for the Vikings.

Any bets on whether he retires and comes back again?

I admire Farve's physical conditioning and Qb skills, but totally disrepect his decisions.

I'm pretty sure Farve beat AU on November 10, 1990. He engineered a 4th Qtr drive. I sat in the East stands with the sun in my face adjacent to the USM fans.

The I/L are now in their 80's and live in a high maintenance place on a lake in Oak Grove. We will need to move them to NW Ga in the next few years. We keep making more frequent trips to keep them organized ....it will eventually be too much.

They wouldn't leave as Katrina approached, so I drove into H-burg with chainsaws and generators and got there just in time. It took 3 days to get out of there.

Pro sports are geared to getting to the playoffs. Undefeated is just not that important. It's a bidness, it's about championships and all the product/ticket sales that come from that. It's one reason I don't like pro sports.

If you want to see every game count, keep watching college football. Sure every top college team has some pushover games and those are planned to give starters rest and backups experience, but to get to the championship you must normally win them all.

Uh..oh ....I hope this doesn't start the ubiquitous CFB playoff discussion.

With all the chippiness in here tonight, perhaps we can have some more Michael, Harrison, et al., to supply the dippiness.

Back at you Peter. You are the one starting the crap. I'm just tired of it.

I hope it keeps you up all night, you little ninny.

Ok, the word ninny made me laugh.

I love that it gets under your skin. Hugs and kisses Peter.

Blogger Kathy said...

Sounds like a lot of testosterone in here tonight.

7:10 PM
Blogger Norm said...

Well, yeah, if you got you one of those then I guess you're not too dumb. FB is cool for catching up with old friends and stealing some of their pics. I found a lot a few weeks ago in a drawer, a couple of them may even interest Jet.

7:10 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

Ha, the jokes on you. I traded in my skin many years ago.

7:11 PM
Blogger Spongeworthy said...

jet, life is too short to log on and get chippy,,,,on a blog. i get enough of that in my daily routine. not looking to add to it. those looking for a fight should call finebaum.

Come on, we can flip this thing. Keep posting Peter.

In the words of Motorist King, "People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids?...It’s just not right. It’s not right. It’s not, it’s not going to change anything. We’ll, we’ll get our justice....Please, we can get along here. We all can get along. I mean, we’re all stuck here for a while. Let’s try to work it out. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to work it out."

Shut up, Norm.

7:15 PM
Blogger Spongeworthy said...

norm, how would prez bush say that?

7:15 PM
Blogger Norm said...

'Shut up' because I called you an ignorant slut, or because I mentioned I'd found some pictures which could interest you? Or just for general purposes? These details are important to me.

PF ...you're not one of aliens ...like on the show "V" are you?

Those guys got fake human skin with reptile skin underneath.

They can trade in their skin and if they don't, you can't get under it anyway.

7:17 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

Oh, I get it. Only the winner should get a trophy. Everyone turn your trophies back in, please.

Norm, yes.

THUNDERDOME!

7:18 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

I've never seen V, but if that's the premise, they're in for a lawsuit. I'll expect a countersuit out of them, seeing how they've got a semi-famous television show, and all I've got are a bunch of people that hate me on the interwebs, but I'll be prepared.

7:19 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ya know ....when you really think about it. "Ignorant slut" is a whole lotta slammin for 2 words.

7:20 PM
Blogger JgobravesHAG said...

Norm are you saying you disagree with me often or just on the Favre topic?

7:20 PM
Blogger Jet said...

You're not hated, PF. You're just misunderstood.

7:20 PM
Blogger JgobravesHAG said...

Who wants to fight me?

7:20 PM
Blogger Norm said...

jhag, I was just kidding with the list. On the Favre front, I just don't care one way or the other.

7:21 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Jhag ... I'd press rewind and try to watch it, but Mrs. Jet just came in the room, so that's out.

7:22 PM
Blogger Peter Frankenschmidt said...

that'd be interesting. jhag's young and stupid, but he's quick and has a big heart.

I'm gonna give him 7:2 odds over SteveFC, even for everyone else.

7:22 PM
Blogger Jet said...

Can I start the rumor that Jhag is the love child of Madonna and Favre?

7:23 PM
Blogger Eddie McCoy said...

7:2 odds over SteveFC...lol

7:24 PM

I think you just did.
