Calling around on Cam Newton: First and Last Part

Hey everyone. I am working on a story about Cam Newton, Auburn's 5-star quarterback who signed last month. He played sparingly during two seasons at Florida. He played all the time at Blinn (Texas) College.

I've been talking with the Southwest Junior College Football Conference coaches who schemed against Newton last fall.

Here's what Donnie Bigby, head coach at Northeastern Oklahoma, had to say.

Newton's numbers in Blinn's 55-42 win against NEO:
17-29, 302 yards, 2 TDs

*OF NOTE -- Newton was suspended for the first quarter.

Bigby on Newton: ``He's the most athletic and skilled quarterback I've seen since Michael Bishop. (Bishop, who later starred at Kansas State, played at Blinn in 1996.) You could tell he had tons and tons of potential. I'm talking about raw talent you just don't see at this level."

Bigby on what NEO did to match up with Newton: ``He's such a big kid. He looks like a defensive lineman, to be honest. I think he'd be a tough matchup on his own -- if he was the only guy on his team. The thing is that he had a great supporting cast last season. We couldn't just worry about him, but he created a lot of problems."

Cars = I have owned so many. Bought my first one in 1954 and must say ALL have been made in America by one of the "old" big three. I drive a car 10 years or longer. I have had excellent service with all but one and it was about 9 years old when it gave me a problem.
Good maintenance and good luck accounts for this magnificent run.
Everyone has there ideas and chices on what they buy and enjoy riding in.

2. I've owned (and LOVED) Nissans. My first car was a Datsun. Datsun wasn't a US Domestic brand. Models are different here. Cefiro, Silvia, Auster, Sunny (=Sentra), Patrol (=Pathfinder) and Navara / Winner (=Frontier).

It's a mess.

digger - one of our rare non-toyota cars was a babe magnet aka Chrysler Town & Country minivan. I loved that car. It just flat up and died when it turned 10. Our 4Runner is 14 years old. We have every intention of keeping a car 10 years when we buy it.

There've been 2 cars in my time which did not make it to 10 years. The first was an Oldsmobile something, had to replace the engine (covered by warranty) and it was just never really right after that. Volvo 740GLE, had to replace engine and transmission which ain't cheap on a Swiss car. Dumped it as soon as possible after that.

Afternoon Hotties!

My 2 cents:

Best car I EVER had was a 1971 Chevy Malibu. My dad gave it to me as a graduation present from Auburn. I graduated in 1974. (That was when parents got the new cars and gave the kids the used ones.) I was most appreciative!

That car was made out of real metal. It was a silver bullet with a black vinyl top. That baby could go!

Needless to say I gave it to my son when he was sixteen in 1993 and his brother inherited it in 1995.

They were the envy in high school. They loved that car.

Unfortunately I came home one day and hubby had sold it right out from under me and it was MY car. To this day it is a sore subject and not talked about. That is the one thing that still pisses me off to this day.....so I'm going to quit now, cause I'm getting mad!!!!
