Cecil Newton, father of Cam, speaks about Auburn
Hey everyone. I'm working on a story about Cam Newton, Auburn's five-star quarterback signee, and that led me to talk with his father today.
That was fun.
Cecil Newton spoke freely and directly for 25 minutes about everything I asked. He isn't shy.
Here are some highlights:
That was fun.
Cecil Newton spoke freely and directly for 25 minutes about everything I asked. He isn't shy.
Here are some highlights:
- On how they chose Auburn: ``We both decided what to do a few days before we went to Gene Chizik, but Cam was apprehensive. He was leaning toward Starkville. He had that relationship with Dan Mullen and there was a comfort level there. I didn't think that was the right place for Cam. They just don't have all the moving parts. Cam was going to have to be the star. He'd have to do everything himself. I didn't want him to be a rented mule. Auburn has far more varsity players returning, they have more skill players, they're attracting more highly recruited players and it's right down the street."
- On if MSU was the early leader: ``Absolutely they were. Auburn came on strong at the end. A lot of people pre-supposed that (Cam) would hook up with Dan Mullen. He made an official visit around Thanksgiving and that went really well. I just wasn't sure about it. I like Dan Mullen and I think he has a very bright offensive mind. He's just having to go against the odds in Starkville. I just didn't want Cam to be blinded by an affiliation. It was important for us to study Auburn, to study Malzahn and Chizik. Auburn has bright minds, too."
- On how Auburn's recruiting has picked up since Newton's commitment: ``It's greatly encouraging. You can see the momentum snowballing. They've gotten several big commitments and they'll probably get more with the shake-ups we've seen at Tennessee and Florida. Auburn is making a big move."
- On Cam's arrest at Florida and subsequent fallout: ``I believe the media provided a thuggish portrayal of my son -- and that angered me. He went through a pre-trial program, the charges were dropped. One person who didn't disappoint me was Urban Meyer. He's been a professional the whole way. He helped us, talked with us, cared about Cam on a personal level."

parental substance
nice one, just beat me :(
hello Leader
Hi all... been on the left coast in meetings all week... not sure why I am so whipped when all I did was sit in small conference rooms for 14 hours days all week long... go figure..
DL, you're like Brett Favre, summoning the magic that everyone thought was gone.
"Auburn has bright minds, too"
Hope we don't have a Tony Douglas situation.
Tony = Toney
I do love the parental substance. Nice to know that some parents are still helping their kids make big decisions in their lives and the kids actually listen.
"WARM SRPINGS, Ga. — A Georgia woman is in jail after police say she forced her son to kill his pet hamster with a hammer as punishment for bad grades."
Guess not every crazy thing happens in Alabama.
Warm Springs is pretty close to Alabama. LOL
I figured Urban couldn't be all bad! Good to hear Daddy Newton say such positive things about him.
Wow, Cecil just stepped on Mississippi State fans' faces with a hobnail boot and broke their noses.
Toney Douglas? Yummy.
I can relate to the "moving parts" and the "rented mule"......most of my parts aren't moving very well and I still feel like a rented mule most of the time.
On the plus side I'm glad they think Auburn has moving parts....all our young men are cogs in a big ole wheel that is gaining momentum!
WDE!!!!
Jay G. Another possibility for a story is Ladarius Owens and his uncle. His uncle was the 1st black player to ever play at AU, I believe. AS you can guess, it probably wasn't a pleasant experience in a lot of ways given the state of race relations at that time. However, now things have come full circle. It would be a nice contrast to show how far things have progressed in 40 years, and how his uncle was a trail blazer in that respect.
You had me with "rented mule". I like this guy.
it is better to be a rented mule than a hired Jackass... just ask Lane Kiffen...
Jay G. Another idea for you to ponder. With stories being written about Jeff Lebo's job being safe, I have heard the following. AU is afraid that if they fire Lebo, several players may transfer. Given the NCAA rules about graduation rates, it was postulated that this would affect AU's total graduation rates in athletics to the point that they would possibly lose FOOTBALL scholarships? Can this be correct? Or Possible?
Re: James Owens:
Back in that day, freshmen weren't eligible to play on the varsity team and they had their own team.
In one freshman game against a rival (UGA or UAT, I forget which) we were behind late in the game. James Owens caught a long TD pass (70+ yards) for the winning TD. That kind of iced it.
After what Henry Harris had already done on the BB team, James and Henry were very well accepted.
And yes, if you can't tell, I was an Auburn student way back then.
Sponge, Mike: Great idea.
EX. My sister was there at the time as well. I didn't get there till 79. James has said on occasion that he had some tough times. I'm not saying that in a bad way. It was just a different time. it's nice to see his nephew coming to AU as well.
thanks Jay. I have one of those at least once a year.
I read somewhere that Owens couldn't get a hair cut in Auburn. He had to travel a long way. That was interesting because Shug would kick players off the team for not meeting dress code, including their hair.
I know that listening to Fbaum is frowned upon here, and I have not listened in months. Today, however, I thought I would listen in for a few minutes. According to that unbiased ace reporter, Shane from Centerpoint. Auburn is cheating in recruiting and Dan Mullen has filed a complaint with the NCAA over Cam Newton. They should just rename that show "Fear Factor." Its sad, they just won the MNC and all they can talk about is AU.
They are scared, very scared of the resurgence at AU.
Listening to today's great segment of Hating with JayG.
JayG, here's a little Stockholm Syndrome to change Jay's mind on Muse.
Granted, they're no Oasis, but...
I've also noticed one of the talking points is that Gene Chizik is not really in control of the program. The assts., Malzahn, Trooper and Luper are responsible for good recruiting.
I guess they didn't think to give credit to Chiz for hiring those guys in the first place.
Go figure.
I am out talk to ya'll later
If the Necks think we are cheating they are very worried.
Good read on the Cecil Newton interview. I think he is right in the evaulation of the two schools. Also right about Mullen at Miss State he is like a great salmon swinmming up stream. He may get there and then again a big ole bear may eat him on the way
Was reading on ESPN and came across this nugget:
Florida leads the way with 16 ESPNU 150 prospects, including five of the top 12 prospects in the nation
AU has 6 of the top ESPNU 150 at this time.
Great read JayG. I look forward tothe entire article and the series. Sponge and Mike had some great ideas.
The Espn rankings are a bit funny.
They are.
Has anyone heard from Faker lately?
What about Kristina?
I quit listening to Finebaum about 6 months ago. I occasionally i listen in to see what guests he has. I believe Finebaum, lost what little credibility he had by allowing Shane from centerpoint to come on and spill his drivel, even posting his "articles" on his website. Finebaum is a cancer. Why surround yourself with such negativity day in and day out.
Jay may know, but I beleive Tubby cut Finebaums sources off at AU, thus leaving him in the dark about the inside goings on at AU. Now, he just makes it up.
Jay, I would be interested to know what most real reporters in this state really think of him.
a.) I don't listen to terrestrial radio. Ever.
b.) Finebaum is a good dude in person, mean-spirited on the air. I couldn't live with myself doing the things he does on the radio. Then again, I'm a flunky newspaper guy and he makes my salary every three weeks or so.
Nice report, JGT. Sounds like Cam has a wise dad. Wish LGG Byron could claim one.
I would love to hear from James Owens. I think the first game I saw him play was AU @ Clemson on October 10, 1970.
I "quit listening" the week before the SECCG when he allowed callers to insinuated that Tebow was homosexual. He's become Jerry Springer.
I had my fill when Finebaum had that "caller" call in regarding the supposed racial slur by Coach Taylor. When that clown said "I want everyone to notice I did not bring this subject up", that was the end of my occasional listening to the twerp ("A person regarded as insignificant and contemptible").
Finebaum had some great sources back in the day, when he was a legitimate sports journalist.
Unfortunately, I think he discovered that he could make a ton more money being a Howard Stern wannabe (AL collegiate sports edition). He appears to love money more than his craft.
Here is the deal about Finebaum, if you'll notice, with the exception of anyone with UAT ties. He will get a guest on the show weekly, like Pat Dye, a former AU player, or tv/radio personality. He will let that guest say what he wants for several weeks, then he will slowly set the guest up, first allowing the callers to crucify him, then starting to crucify the guest himself once the guest is off the air. He will build them up, then throw them under the bus. He's really puts Pat Dye down, but doesn't have the nads to do the same about Gene Stallings. Just sayin
He's the worst kind of lowlife, backstabber. Likes to tear people down, gets enjoyment out of it. I hope some day it rolls back around. Would have been nice if it was Finebaum, not Tiger Woods for instance.
there, I'm done.
Sponge, that's not Finebaum's fault. It's Dye's.
He knows that's going to happen, and he allows it to go on because CraneWorks (or whomever is paying for his spot on the show) pays him enough to take it.
FTR, I seem to recall Tuberville being on Finebaum's show a lot back when it was carried in my area ('02-'04 or so).
Great stuff Jay. It sounds like the reverse of what people were speculating shortly before Cam announced.
I am home and glad to be so.
Welcome home Bro Jet.
Whether we finish 1st, 5th or 10th in the final rankings is not of my concern.
What pleases me that all the major recruiting services have extremely high opinions of many of the players we are recruiting.
It's kinda lika golf ... you don't win tournaments on Thursday, but you can lose them.
He appears to love money more than his craft.
Who doesn't?
Me, I love being retired more than the money. Of course, it takes money to be retired.
I agree with Freep..
Dye knows what the deal is with Finebaum. He accepts it because Crane Works is paying him well to do so.
Finebaum grew up a Bama fan. I've heard him say it on air myself. Now, Finebaum is a Finebaum fan.
For what it's worth here's my take on Finebaum.
Finebaum plays his audience and his audience is primarily Alabama fans and Finebaum plays them like a Stradivarius. I believe his interests are mostly with Alabama 'cause that's where his bread is buttered. I'm not saying he's "biased". My problem is that I can't take anything he says as his honest opinion. I believe everything he says is for effect.
I lost what little respect I had for him at the time Saban was hired. This was also just after UAB hired Callaway. In the past Finebaum I know called Callaway "dumb" along with other put-downs. Callaway had also recently gotten a DUI if I recall and Finebaum alluded to this in his usual smarmy way.
Anyway, Callaway agreed to an on-air interview with Finebaum soon after his UAB hire. In the interview, Finebaum brings up a public statement Callaway had made that he quit drinking entirely but apparently never admitted to a drinking problem. Finebaum asks Callaway why he gave up drinking if he had no drinking problem. Callaway just said it was a personal decision. Finebaum asks him again. Callaway gives essentially the same answer. Finebaum AGAIN asks him the same question. At that point Callaway politely says that they would have to move on or the interview ends.
Not long after this interview, Finebaum gets his interview with newly hired Nick Saban. What was THE issue with Saban at the time? His famous "I'm not going to be the coach at Alabama" quote. Does the bull-dog hard hitting, not afraid of anyone Finebaum bring this up---No. When a caller asked him why he didn't ask Saban about this issue, Finebaum said he just didn't think it was the right time.
Suck up. He dared not risk getting on the s___-list of the coach of the Crimson Tide!
I haven't listened in months. But his show is like a TV soap opera. If you haven't watched (or listened) in a long time. Just tune in for a day or two and you are right back up to speed---same moronic callers, same inflammatory statements.
Did he ever interview Chizik? Did he try to get that interview?
Sorry for the length. But I had to vent.
Hi, FSJ, I've missed you. Can't believe I said that!
The way I look at recruiting is this...
Alabama will most probably finish in the top five this year. That is three straight top five recruiting finishes. That's stout. At this point we are reloading. Then it all becomes about coaching and developing.
With that said, UF is putting together an amazing class.
Thanks cincy...
I've been swamped at work for most of this week.
I needed my hit of crack...errrr HABOTN tonight.
Well, Lucy just pulled the football back. I thought for a moment there that Faker was going to say something nice about the class of recruits that Auburn is putting together. Nope. Ball withdrawn.
I mean this is an Auburn blog right? If I wanted to know about the UAT recruits, guess where I would go? If I wanted to know about Gator recruits, guess where I would go?
Welcome, Klaus.
I think you're right -- UAT vs. UAB. I know who wins that one.
Guys, you are right about Dye allowing it. I'm just saying PF gives him no respect, but gives a ton of respect to Stallings. I don't think he's ever confronted Stallings about UAT's probation and Stallings role!
Tubby was a regular on PF's show early on. On there rarely if any in the last couple of years. So, PF goes from praising Tubby in the early years to denigrating him at the end, in typical fashion.
Agree that PF plays to his audience. Bama callers and advertisers pay his bills. Thus, a lack of credibility. Kinda like the backdoor deals going on in congress now. Just sayin
you can apparently view cam newton's performance in the jc nccg at www.njcaa.org/tv
i could not get the video to work for whatever reason and didn't have time to screw with it. probably don't have the right plug in or something.
the reviews i read somewhere else said great runner, decent passer that cgm can help. it did mention he seemed to have a little accuracy trouble with the short screens and swing throws. that sounds familiar... compared him to ksu josh freeman.
Callaway does sound dumb as a rock, however.
everyone on pf's show show is a protozoan's waste.
Chippy. I am a little concerned about Cam's passing, even though I haven't seen it yet. Worried we have a guy that can pass like you are describing. Name is Burns..
Whittiker at UGA this weekend. He is there w/ a UGA commit, another DT, same guy he roomed with at the under armour game. They will put the hard press on him.
Someone's mom said not to worry, we got him. Buuuut, I still wonder. We need DT's badly.
It's coming back...stay tuned
i just watched his rivals highlights again. of course, there are no short passes in it. what i do see is a guy that is not going to hang out in the pocket for 6 seconds looking for darvin and get crushed from behind. dude has some serious skills when he gets into the open. matt jonesish but maybe not as fast.
"Auburn has bright minds, too."
In the classroom as well.
Yep Chip. thats the good part. We will see a part of Mahlzans offense we didn't get to see this year. With Cam or Tyrik. Also, I think Trotter can run as well. Saw him in HS, but not to the level that Cam and Tyrik are likely able to.
i just can't wait until he steps up in the pocket to avoid the blitz and there is 20 yards of green in front of him.
Jay-Z rappin 'bout Haiti on TV right now.
Anyone but me think it's funny that Milton McGregor hires a PI to follow Alabama's anti gambling Czar? And catches him gambling?
Who is good at online shopping for tech products? I need an external hard drive for a good price...
Finebaum gets all of you to discuss him, which says he wins.
Chip Chip, thanks for the link. The video is working for me.
Not me D. I can tell you where you can find some stupid good deals, but you'll have to be patient. These office supply stores will run specials, office supply, Staples, that are sometimes way cheaper than you can get anywhere. I've bought a couple of camera's, laptops, etc that way.
Steve, no money goes in his pocket for us discussing him on a blog. Now....if we call his show and complain....that's a different story.
Any Hotties out there have any experience with hip dysplasia in their dog? My 7-yr old golden has it in both hips. Right now, they are treating her with medicines to make her comfortable. My vet, an Auburn grad, told me there would come a time when she couldn't get up and then we had a couple of options. One is a total hip replacement and the other is a FHO. Hip replacement would have to be done at Auburn at approx $2500 vs the FHO he could do at a cost of $500. After some research, I'm leaning toward the THR. Any advice would be appreciated.
Sponge, don't underestimate the value of publicity. As Kiffikin will testify, bad publicity is better than no publicity.
The commentators mentioned how important it is to take away Cam Newton's passing game. Interesting. They also said he threw to 13 different receivers, beating out Todd by about 11, typically.
I watched a video of Cam that someone put on THE blog. I am sure it only showed the good stuff but it was impressive. He hit guys 30 and 40 yards down the field and they didn't even break stride.
Yep, Todd only saw one route, Adam's. Still, he overachieved.
We shall just have to see with Newton. I am hoping to get an idea with Chip Chip's video. What makes a great QB isn't the great passes they throw. It is the bad ones the don't.
Todd did very well for who he was. He was the best we had and played pretty smart.
Steve thats why I said it was good stuff only. It did not show any bad throws and you know he made some
So the Auburn Men's team goes to Nashville to play Vandy tomorrow. That may get ugly.
Kathy,
Our first golden boy was diagnosed with hip dysplasia when he was only about 6 months old. When the vet described what we were probably facing it seemed overwhelming. But he told us to keep him on the lean side, keep him well exercised and put him on Missing Link with glucosamine. We did that and he died at 13, never having any problems with his hips.
Sorry I can't give you any advise on either of those procedures. I would just keep asking around and see what results people have had.
Found out our granddog is just a knucklehead. His test results all came back perfect. Vet says he probably just doesn't drink all day while they are at work and then drinks a lot in the evening.
Any Au BBall game this year may get ugly. Not sure we can even beat bama this year, and their horrible.
IV, if I may answer your (rhetorical) question: If you wanted to hear more about UAT recruits, you'd go to WAL-MART.
Also a good place to learn about Pondscum. Twerp, indeed.
Due to different state rules, Blinn college has 85 people on their team, while Fort Scott has 55. That does seem a wee bit unfair.
Sponge I am afraid you are right. Thank goodness my Tide associates are football crazy only and if we lose both games they want even know it.
Sometime in my lifetime we WILL have a good BBall program.
Thanks Cincy. Glad your granddog is OK. I've got a lot of dog people out there researching the 2 alternatives for me. We're praying it will be a couple of years before we have to make a decision.
I watched a little of a high school championship game earlier here in SC. One of the offenses was intriguing. They used 0 wide receivers. For the year they had 4000 rushing yards and 300 passing.
It was weird to watch. Typically about 9 or 10 players would line up on the offensive line. Just before the snap 2 or 3 would move into the backfield.
Well, Sponge, that means you are going to live another year - cause it isn't going to be this year :)
Kathy: My first and old dog, a German Shepherd, had progressively worsening hip arthritis (not dysplasia) first diagnosed at age six. At age 11, it became a huge quality of life issue. To make a long and sad story mercifully shorter, I pursued some ill-advised treatment to lessen his discomfort and prolong his life; I didn't want to let him go. Big mistake for his sake and mine. Lots of regrets to this day. My friend and his vet (also an Auburn vet grad) was doing his best to warn me, but I didn't listen. I should have listened.
I did not pursue hip replacement, because it was not a viable option. Other than that, I would take your vets advice sooner rather than later.
Kathy,
I have emailed my daughter who works with the Golden Retriever Rescue in Nashville to see what they recommend. WIll let you know when I hear from her.
Her husband took her out to an art exhibit tonight, so she could think about something else besides the events of the last couple of days.
Thanks Cincy. How is your daughter?
She is doing pretty well - fine physically. She went back to work today, thought it would be best to get back to her routine.
Basically she is trusting that God is sovereign and she trusts His plan. Thanks for asking.
Interesting watching Newton in the JC national championship game. He didn't start running the ball until they got close to the red zone. Suddenly, he started running like a tail back. Very impressive so far.
Had one of my favorite type plays in this JC championship. A defensive linemen recovers a fumble and returns it for an almost touchdown. It was called back for an illegal block after the fumble recovery.
Grrrr, just saw Newton throw a bounce pass while on the run.
break down the film for us sfc. do the dirty work for us!
I will do what I can, Chip Chip. So far Blinn is up 10-0. They have been comparing Cam to Tebow, which is probably more fair than most comparisons to Tebow. He does run like a tailback, but he seems to be very selective about when he runs, which I like.
the accuracy of his short passing game is what was called into question. i hope gus can teach him to throw it. that is AU's problem on the quick screen, poor positioning of the throw taking the rb or wr's upfield momentum away as he adjusts to the ball.
todd also didn't have the zip on that pass that i saw in other systems that utilize the quick passing game like what tub's new gig used to do.
cam looks like he can throw deep all day long.
i still think more matt jones than tebow from what little i've seen.
Chip Chip, I have seen a couple of poor ball positioning on short throws. There was the bounce pass and there was another where he delivered the ball at about knee height for seemingly no reason, which caused the receiver to not catch it cleanly.
Cam Newton is sitting out a series, which is something I would like to see at Auburn. We rarely get the backup playing time. Blinn is comfortable enough to do it in a championship game, which is impressive.
Crap!!! Newton comes in once they get down to about the 26. On the first play after coming back he throws an INT. He hits the guy from the other team square in the chest. It was as if he didn't see him at all.
“At this time, the family of Marcus Lattimore has stated they will not release any information about his recruiting until Feb. 2. On Feb. 2, at Silver Hill Memorial United Methodist Church, Marcus will address the public about his decision. Please refrain from e-mailing, texting or calling Marcus or members of his family in regards to his recruiting."
on his rivals highlights there is a linebacker he's playing against that is blitzing him and the kid can't weigh more than 150. the general talent level he was playing against was abysmal by sec standards. it is promising that he beat out uf's current starter for the #2 spot behind tebow two years ago.
Kathy, it sounds like he has made a decision and is sick of the recruiting process. Hopefully people will respect the wishes of the family.
Because of the INT, Blinn is now down 14-10. I am starting to get the impression this guy has Kodi type issues. Hopefully Malzahn can help him.
They just said that Newton had only thrown 4 INTs all season prior to that one, so maybe it was a fluke. It just looked ugly.
Cool interview.
Hey, a tornado hit my house last night. It just knocked out a couple of windows and tore up my roof, though. That tornado was a sissy.
Michael isn't kidding.
at least kodi won't come in to run the wildcat on 2nd and short to put us in 3rd and long. not bashing kb, just the timing of all the times gus did it.
This comment has been removed by the author.
be careful what you say. that tornado may have a big brother.
michael,
Sorry to hear about the tornado. I'm glad you are all safe and it didn't do more damage than that.
Supposedly Fort Scott is known for great defense, so I may be being a bit hard on Newton. They are bringing the pressure.
Michael, you get hit by the tornado over toward the 5 Points area? Glad you are OK. A lot of people got surprised by that one.
My dream house is in Huntsville. I am going to build it someday.
michael...glad to hear you kicked that tornado's a$$.
I heard about a tornado hitting Huntsville. My two best friends live in the Ville, but they weren't close to it.
Glad to hear that nobody was seriously hurt.
Yeah Kathy, we are one of the lucky ones in the 400 yard swath of damage that runs northeast through five points.
I am amazed, though. I was sure we wouldn't have power back for a week. All of the poles were completely knocked down in my vicinity. Huntsville utilities kicked some butt last night and today.
All the trees fell away from my house, so we are pretty fortunate to get out with as little damage as we did.
Sounds like you got lucky, Michael. Glad to hear it.
Cincy, come by a dream house historical home in Five Points, Huntsville, AL. And be ready for a tornado or two!
I am pretty upset I wasn't here for the Tornado. That would have been a cool adrenaline rush.
My wife was in the car about a half mile from the tornado with the kids, and she high tailed it out of there. She was pretty freaked out on the phone with me.Power lines and stuff were snapping all around here. Once she was safe, she was pretty upset with me for asking if I could finish my basketball game. Second half was already half way over anyway. And it was a league game.
Earlier this week it was reported by some Alabama media outlets that Thornton had eliminated Auburn (probably because he canceled his visit to The Plains last weekend). Not true, he said.
“No, no, no,” he said. “I still talk to them down there. I haven’t eliminated Auburn. Auburn is still a contender on my list.”
He also said his decision is not interdependent on what Jeff Whitaker decides. Auburn and Georgia are both after the big defensive tackle from Warner Robins. “No, not at all,” Thornton said. “I love competition. I know Jeff. It’d be fun if he and I came to the same school. Who knows?”
http://blogs.ajc.com/recruiting/2010/01/21/mike-thornton-says-kiffin-orgeron-make-usc-a-serious-contender/
No, Michael, historical home says money pit to me. Give me new and shiny and no maintenance! This house was in Hampton Cove or one of those similar neighborhoods. The neighborhood was just ok, but the house was spectacular. Built by Jeff Benton homes I think.
Michael is kidding.
You did not finish your basketball game.
Jeff Benton? He's not one of the better builders in the area unless he's change his style.
Blinn is behind 19-10. Fort Scott scored 19 unanswered points. I am interested in seeing how Newton reacts.
One thing I do like about him is he doesn't hesitate to turn into a running back. He goes from QB to RB in the blink of an eye. There is no hesitation.
Nono, I know better than that. But I did ask to finish it, and would have seriously done so if she had allowed it. At the time, we didn't actually know it had hit the house though. My wife said she thought it went through our part of the neighborhood, and I thought naahhhhh, what are the odds?
I thought that was his name - maybe not, we looked at a bunch of houses when we thought we might move there.
It was the floorplan of this house that was so amazing. I'm planning on building it someday. Of course that works against my hubby's plan of a condo in B'ham and a condo in Auburn.
Hampton Cove is too far out for me. Those peops have to drive too far to work.
I want to build it in Auburn. Is it redundant to have a house and a condo in Auburn?
Newton does have issues setting his feet and over throwing receivers down field.
You won't see any feet first slides with Cam. I just saw him dive head first to make it back to the line of scrimmage. He is a man. The OK State coach would like him.
michael,
I didn't know you lived in Huntsville..
Huntsville is probably my favorite city in Alabama.
Beautiful area of the state.
FSJ,
You been to Auburn? Most magical, wonderful place in Alabama. Truly God's country!
I use to work in Huntsville at Teledyne Brown. Back about 1990 we had a real nice Tornado hit Huntsville. I go to set in a vault at work while all the fun was going on.
One of the reasons I remember that day so well is the reaction of my boss. Security came around and said nobody leaves the build. My boss said screw you guys, I am going home. Okay, I do paraphrase a bit, but apparently the tornado was in an area close to his family, so he was out of there.
I'm with Faker here, outside of Auburn of course.
The Ville has it going on. It's just the right size for a city and has good surroundings. I never get tired of driving on 72 from the Noog to the Ville.
Doesn't it also consistently rank in the top ten places in the US to live?
I am to the halftime of the JC national championship game. I am not sure I can tough out the second half. No, I am not tired. It is just the motto of Blinn college is "I'm in with Blinn". Listening to some lady say that about a dozen times and you will want to pound your head into a solid object.
Good night all, you too Faker (Lucy), but this is an Auburn blog, not WalMart.
Huntsville is a pretty bright spot in the south. One of the least "country" spots in Alabama without all the crime. I approve.
Definitely a step above Memphis, where I grew up.
Michael,
What part of Memphis?
Michael, but Memphis has more culture. Graceland!!!
Being from Arab... I love the Huntsville area...
Personally, I have always admired the Alabama pronunciation of Arab.
speaking of loving something... I am watching Casino Royale for the first time... who is this brunette?!! Wowza!
cincy, I lived in Raleigh, Parkway Village, and in the county just south of Germantown at various points in my tenure in the Memph.
Conan's knocking it out of the park right now.
Classy.
I cant wait to watch Cam play....its gonna be exciting
From what I saw of Cam's play in jt JCNCG, he is a very impressive runner and adequate passer. It will be interesting to see how Malzahn working with him affects his play.
Yea the offense will transform since todd couldnt run for his life last year now he can run zone reads and options with Dyer, Lattimore Onterio..itlll be fun
Good night, Hotties. Y'all have a great Saturday. MrsTHT and I will be out of town until about supper time. See y'all then!
WARRRRR EAGLE!!!
D. Miller...
That would be Eva Green...
She's on my list.
Mine too.
Big time.
