Column as promised

Hey everyone. I mentioned yesterday that a column would appear this morning discussing how Alabama's 13th eighth national championship doesn't make Gene Chizik's job more difficult.

Here it is: Tigers make solid strides in spite of Tide's rise

Please enjoy.

If you're so inclined, please feel free to discuss the column in the comments section.

  1. I want to know more about Norm's 1:40 a.m. conference call. How does that happen?

  2. "That's right... One could make all kinds of explosives, using simple household items."

    "If one were so inclined."

    ReplyDelete
  3. Glad you're inclined, Mr. Soap.

    ReplyDelete
  4. i felt 'inclined' to post that. sorry. :)

yeah, a 1:40am conference call? well that's just crazy talk.

    ReplyDelete
  5. That was "fair and balanced," Mr. Tate.

  6. Luv,

In response to the previous thread about Tubs saying he likes to recruit.

I agree with Hoopie, Tubs openly admits to being a car salesman, so he's going to say whatever he needs to get what he wants.

I don't think Tubs hates recruiting, he just does it in a way that time might have passed by.

Also, I don't see why we can't discuss coaches past and present when the topic comes up. (Go ahead throw the penalty flag my way.)

  7. Nice Column...beware of the REC.

  8. read and recommended JG.

  9. Good read.

I think the only place that Bama winning the national title hurts us is in the perspective of people not watching very closely.

That being said, we have started fast in recruiting, we need to finish. We started fast in several games (to the point we could have been 11-2 this year) but didn't know how to finish.

    ReplyDelete
  10. RK- Glass half full or empty?

    ReplyDelete
  11. People not watching closely, in my mind, would be a good thing for Auburn. I'm certain Chizik believes that.

    ReplyDelete
  12. War Eagle, Hotties!

Good article, Jay. And I am so happy for Dansby.

I saw a little of the ladies' game yesterday on the tube. They were magnificent.

Jay, I was a little confused by your headline on that blog entry. I was wondering what in Baton Rouge upset Auburn Engineers--bad bridges? Oh well, it is early on a cold Monday morning. Forgive my cognitive limitations...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Minor programming note:

Alabama hasn't been atop our Web hits list since winning the title.

The HABOTN won three times. Yesterday it was my recruiting roundup.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thanks to all of you for reading!

    ReplyDelete
  15. How could I hate on someone for cognitive limitations?

    ReplyDelete
  16. as you've said many times before JG:

HOTTIES > everybody else (especially bammers)

    :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Whatever, Jay. Bama rules the state now. Auburn is about to be sucked into a black hole of mediocrity. Everyone knows that. RTR.

    ReplyDelete
  18. PF, i think marriage has totally ruined you homes. very sad. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Eddie,

Can we just break the glass over Bama's head?

    ReplyDelete
  20. How did Michael figure out my password. It's my porn name, but how could he know what street I grew up on and my first pet's name?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Disgusting.

The authorities, meaning Harrison, have been notified.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Good article JayG. Nice job.

I think it is time to start following recruiting. I generally don't follow it until after the bowl season is over.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I have never followed recruiting; have never eve really paid attention to who signed until depth charts come out in the fall. Reading WTC's mom's comments makes me kinda feel like I do now, even though I feel like I need a dungeon master's guide to keep up and understand what is happening.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Never mind, just break the glass that Eddie mentions over PF's head.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Not my head. Michael's for impersonating me and framing me as a Walmartian.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maybe I need to get wtc's mom on the HoF ... since she's so doggone helpful from March through December with the recruiting updates.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Excellent article deconstructing prevailing assumptions about the status quo.

However, a few additions may have made the article even more interesting, e.g.:

"Simply claiming ownership of that Sears-branded glass football [now situated at a Wal-Mart near you]....

"It was a [better than mediocre team that nearly lost to a McCoy-less UT team led by a 19 year old] with a [teeny tiny] coach [whose stature far exceeds his integrity]."

Petty additions? Sure, but also factual and they bring a smile to my face.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anonymous9:22 AM

Jay ..I'll vote for WTC's mom ...she's awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  29. As usual JGT and most every one else is gone by the time I get on each morning. Latness is due to my ritual morning rise. No details needed.
Jay that was a very thought provoking article. Enjoyed reading it and I too believe this coaching staff is well on the way to bigger and better things.
Some one said "with the problems Tenn has Auburn may have a good chance of winning". After watching the last 15 minutes of the game with Kansas I dun feel too good about that.

Good reading Jay, A hard finish in recruiting this year could set the trend for the coming years.

In some cases AU will sell itself (Tubby) but in most, staff interest and participation are the key to top recruits (Chiz)

I agree with WERK the CH's MNC will cause a lot of eyes to skim over us, could be an advantage

    ReplyDelete
  31. Not sure those would have made it through the copy-editing phase, Comm'r ... but you have some good ideas there.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i must admit that i actually went to Wal-Mart yesterday to get a new car battery (it was the cheapest i could find) and i saw 2 folks with mullets. i'm sure i would've seen 25-30 had i been in tuscaloosa, though.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Good read, JayG, I have forwarded the column to my peeps.

    How's everyone's Monday going?

    ReplyDelete
  34. What about in answer to your friends 1970 train leaving the station. Times have changed and that train might not even get out of the station in these times.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Primo article dude. Kudos.

    ReplyDelete
  36. dang, nice article--penned very well. Guess you do have a few skills outside random blogging posts Jay!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Anonymous9:33 AM

    Nice read Jay.

There's a couple of more issues I would bring up regarding the Walmartian's supposed ability to keep AU down.

    1. Scholly limits increase parity.

    2. Info Availability: The Bear was a master at manipulating/promising the kids to get them to sign with Bama. Today's info age will limit any coach's ability to tell the kids what they want to hear and reel them in just to keep them away from others.

    3. Today's kids are far removed from the Bear mystique. Many of these kid's(especially out-of-state) see AU as having a much better recent history.

..and No. 4 and most importqantly ...WE WILL NOT GO BACK INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT AGAIN.

    ReplyDelete
  38. My wife and I went to the mall and to Walmart yesterday and tons of Bama gear on display. Disgusting.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Good read there JGT. Auburn just needs to worry about only those things under their control and not worry what that little school in the west is doing. So far I like how AU has handled it.

    LT

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wait, newpapers still have copy-editors? I wouldn't have ever known...

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hey Jet I read an article this am that Larry Dixon is retiring. Would not have even paid any attention to this except I heard him speak in Hunstville many, many years ago and thought he seemed very level headed for a politician.
If he truly is one of the good guys I hate to see him leave at only 67. Most politicians stick around longer than that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. good read as always, JGT. The 70's won't happen again, but Bama's success doesn't make Auburn's job any easier. On the plus side, if beating up on Shula's team made me happy, beating little napoleon and the nashunal champs will make me giddy.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm hoe today......... Septic tank issues.....

    Nasty

    ReplyDelete
  44. your standards might be low Loganville...but that doesn't make you a hoe :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Are intelligent journalists seriously comparing today's environment to the 70s? I'd say there've been a few things that have changed since then that would prevent that from happening again.

    ReplyDelete
  46. THANKS FOR THE READ JAY

    ReplyDelete
  47. So good I had to get a new avatar.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I can't get to page two of the story. Is my browser just stoopid or something?

    ReplyDelete
  49. It just worked for me ... running Firefox 3.5.4 via Mac OS 10.6.1.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Your browser shops at walmart

    ReplyDelete
  51. Excellent, article, Jay G!!! I don't think I will ever understand the bammers' arrogance. They just find completely implausible that Auburn will ever will beat UAT let alone an SECC. And, they have totally forgotten Auburn beat UAT SIX years in a row - like it never even happened.

    ReplyDelete
  52. michael No trouble here in getting to page 2

    ReplyDelete
  53. OGOchoCinco

f the offseason, this is some bull droppings, i am supposed to be in meetings right now, im level 5 pissed=finding out side girl is pregnant

    ReplyDelete
  54. Luv, here is the excuse:

*Bama was on probation and coming off of scholarship losses etc.

    ReplyDelete
  55. That's seriously upset.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ocho should be glad he doesn't have a real job. We don't get an offseason. It's a decent day when I'm not in meetings all day.

    ReplyDelete
  57. ...but, Seanzie, is your side girl with child?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hoopie, I should have read your 9:33 post before I posted!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Exactly, Peter.

That would make Sean's meetings so much worse.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hey I work with a few Walmartian's and I can not find the link to the pictures of them in Wal-mart does anyone have that link

    ReplyDelete
  61. Anonymous9:58 AM

People not watching closely, in my mind, would be a good thing for Auburn. I'm certain Chizik believes that. - Jay G. Tate

    This

    ReplyDelete
  62. Did Ochocinco invent the phrase "side girl" or is this a well worn phrase that I'm (embarrassingly) unaware of? If it's the former, the guy gets some checks for creativity

    ReplyDelete
  63. Several people (bammers) posted on a friend's FB (also a bammer - but a nice one) that they are tired of hearing Auburn fans excuses as to why UAT beat Texas. I told them that the reasons were mostly likely facts and that bammers are the kings/queens of excuses.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Comm'r, you don't have a side girl?

    ReplyDelete
  65. So my officemate can't get to page 2 either, and we all have our stuff up to date on all our browsers.. leads me to believe the evil IT blocking demons have somehow struck again.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I'm the queen of typos today. UGH.

    ReplyDelete
  67. are your flash and java up to date, though?

    ReplyDelete
  68. You and your officmate are bothing reading the Advertiser at work? I'm at least leaving the other dude alone and letting him work while I slack.

    ReplyDelete
  69. PF don't know about micheal but I stopped flashing years ago and my coffee is all gone. Is there something that he can do about his computer?

    ReplyDelete
  70. I don't know that the other dude actually is reading it. I just messaged him the link and asked him if he could get to page 2. Yes, we instant message each other though we are only 5 feet away. But there is a third guy in the office who is a lot older than us, and we can't speak freely in front of him.

    ReplyDelete
  71. LOL Luv if you are Queen I am definitely the King of mispelling.

    ReplyDelete
  72. PF: I do have a "side girl" but do not refer to her as such. I just call her Mrs. Saban.

    ReplyDelete
  73. It's a term of endearment, kind of like "Stiffler's Mom."

    ReplyDelete
  74. Great Article Jay,
Thank you for adding me to the NN list,
you have created a great community for Auburn fans near and far.

    ReplyDelete
  75. digger used to be a flasher?

    ReplyDelete
  76. A Monday morning final offer on the Goody's, then it's avatar changing time.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Luv, I didn't see you around this weekend so you get a pass, but bammers are to be called walmartians from now on.

    ReplyDelete
  78. G, can you post your recruiting article from yesterday?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Anonymous10:27 AM

Not sure Ms Saban would make a good side girl.

Ms. Kiffen? ...good for all sides.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Digger ...

I am Larry's constituent ... have known him for several years. He was the presumed future congressman from this area until he got into a race with someone who could self-fund -- Terry Everett. I am sure he's disappointed that he'll never get to be a committee chair, or in the leadership because the Republicans never took control. He would have faced an uphill battle in the GOP primary this June. It's as good of time as any to retire.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think I want to be a politician one day. They have the best side girls.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hell yes! That's exactly what I am screaming. Another reason to love this staff. They could give a rip about Saban and the Tide. What does that have to do with us? Nothing.

Tell you what I see happening over the next few years ... a whole lot of national attention focused on the state of Alabama because we have TWO of the best football teams in the land.

    Now THAT will be fun.

    ReplyDelete
  83. So should we start guessing now where Pete Carrol might land in two years after his failed NFL stint?

    ReplyDelete
  84. Marathon all-nighter con-call over. 3 hour nap behind me and a lot of work in front of me.

Nice article Sportswriter Tate, especially the stuff on the 2nd page. That part was epic.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Per usual, great column JayG.

    I ain't sceered.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Commentor Norm, you know how to hurt a guy.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Pete Carroll to tOSU in 2012. Maybe to Penn State is Joe Pa is not actually a robot. Definitely somewhere cold and miserable, though.

    ReplyDelete
  88. This comes from the flasher of the 60's
Jet I wish him well, like I said he seemed genuine and up front.
    Eat your heart out PF.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Digger, if you were my age, and did the same sort of thing, you'd be a registered sex offender.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Being older than dirt my previous exploits have long been forgotten and very few are alive to squeal on the facts.

    ReplyDelete
  91. What if other sports were as high profile as football? Chizik's challenge would be nothing compared to Alabama's swimming coach (or Auburn's gymnastics coach, for that matter).

    ReplyDelete
  92. By the way, AU's gymnastics team barely lost to UAT on Friday. AU's Coach Thompson mentioned something about how you can't "play defense" in gymnastics. Wouldn't that be cool if you could? There would be some serious hits off the beam, vault, and uneven bars Gymnastics would probably immediately soar to 2nd place behind football in TV ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  93. full contact gymnastics > lingerie football.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Sounds like a great idea Scott... I think you should get on that.

The only thing better than cute college girls in leotards is cute college girls in leotards tackling each other.

    ReplyDelete
  95. I was looking at the FTH list and there are a few on there that need to be 2010 ROF inductees. I think Tar Heel deserves first consideration. I don't have a vote, but that's my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  96. A (minor) footnote to JayG's story: Blake Sims' de-commitment the day after the BCS game. If UAT is now an unstoppable machine, why would anyone decommit?

    Just sayin'....

    http://blogs.ajc.com/recruiting/2010/01/08/blake-sims-de-commits-to-bama-reopens-recruitment/?cxntfid=blogs_recruiting

    ReplyDelete
  97. Jay, what can I say about the article that has not already been said? I will just add, please keep up the good, no great, work. We need you.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I think I'll wait until my 11 year old is out of gymnastics before pitching the full-contact idea. After that, I'm all over it!

    ReplyDelete
  99. THT was on my list until he got on narcotic painkillers. I'm not sure that we want to have someone who is practically Rush Limbaugh on such an esteemed list.

    ReplyDelete
  100. The arrival of Saban certainly had an effect and is partially why the 2008 recruiting class was down, but ChizCo has definitely proven that they will compete with Bama.

There are also negatives to winning a NC. For instance, more players will be likely to bolt for the NFL. Also, there is less room to rise. Recruits see a team with little playing time available.

What it boils down to is the difference between the programs will come down to coaching, and I do like our chances at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  101. How do you think Tubs figured in to the previous recruiting efforts, Steve?

    ReplyDelete
  102. Steve, Michael is kidding.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Have I ever said that I have a strong dislike for walmartians?

    ReplyDelete
  104. I'm not so sure MJT is kidding. If only Zookeeper were here to confirm this for us.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I just got an email in response to one I sent out to my mailing list about the Wal-Mart Tour, 2101, that said this:

    http://blog.al.com/bamabeat/2010/01/attention_the_wal-mart_trophy.html

    Roll Tide!

    Gentry Estes is a goob.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Jay G's column the lead post on Chris Low's SEC Blog!

    ReplyDelete
  107. So was Ocho using that as an example, or is his side girl really knocked up?

    ReplyDelete
  108. Jay's article makes some important points, like how Bama's rise actually helped us get a New Year's day bowl.

Also, he mentions the offensive slow down to allow the defense to rest. That gets into something I really like, which is the areas where I can see improvement next season. This 8-5 team has plenty of areas they can improve.

Defensively and special teams will likely be better with more depth, even with the loss of Coleman and McFadden. This will allow Malzahn to crank up his offense, which offers improvement there. Additionally, if Newton works out at QB, we could see significant improvement there. Todd was a manager. Newton could be a weapon.

There are plenty of reasons to be proud to be an Auburn Tiger.

    ReplyDelete
  109. "The NCAA allows programs to sign a maximum of 28 players to sign Letters of Intent. Only 25 of those, though, are eligible to enroll in classes."

Jay, that is an SEC restriction, not an NCAA restriction.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Regardless of who's idea it was to do the Wal Mart tour it's still funny and trashy.

    ReplyDelete
  111. 28 part is the SEC
    25 part is the NCAA

    ReplyDelete
  112. PF, it's still funny, no matter whose idea it was. Seeing the toothless masses in their Bammer regalia waiting hours to see the trophy is amusing. The only real difference in how they would be spending their day anyway is that the line is longer.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Correct, THT. The 28 limit is the Nutt rule.

    ReplyDelete
  114. SC - have you had a spike in orders for "tainted" chocolates since the BCS game?

    ReplyDelete
  115. I read that Dunnaway and Brown are lecturing everyone for making fun of the walmartians Wal Mart tour. I hate sports talk in walmartianham.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Scott C, I hope you don't expect to be paid for identifying when I am kidding. Beacause you ain't gettin nuttin.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Saab is going bye bye. GM says they haven't received a decent offer for it, so they are shutting it down. That stinks for people owning Saab.

    ReplyDelete
  118. He said "Nutt." Heh heh heh heh.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Why don't we add some of those other football championships? We've had a lot of unbeaten seasons. Here's what I came across back in 2005.

2004 National Champions, National Champions, (People’s Choice National Champions) (13-0, 9-0)

    ReplyDelete
  120. I claim all of those championships plus any more that you can come up with.

    ReplyDelete
  121. CH=B wouldn't that put us on the same looooow level as the walmartians?
    Received in email:
We all like the You are a redneck if jokes. here's one with a different spin and makes me a redneck
You might be a redneck if: It never occurred to you to be offended by the phrase, 'One nation, under God.'
You might be a redneck if: You've never protested about seeing the 10 Commandments posted in public places.
You might be a redneck if: You still say ' Christmas' instead of 'Winter Festival.'
You might be a redneck if: You bow your head when someone prays.
You might be a redneck if: You stand and place your hand over your heart when they play the National Anthem.
You might be a redneck if: You treat our armed forces veterans with great respect, and always have.
You might be a redneck if: You've never burned an American flag, nor intend to.
You might be a redneck if: You know what you believe and you aren't afraid to say so, no matter who is listening.
You might be a redneck if: You respect your elders and raised your kids to do the same.
You might be a redneck if: You'd give your last dollar to a friend.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I'm gonna stick with 57. It seems pretty legit.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Barrack Oboma does some of those. Redneck President? I dunno.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I claim every first down we have gotten over our entire football existance as a national championship.

Why not, I've seen almost equal accomplishments claimed.

    ReplyDelete
  125. ...because you're better than that?

    ReplyDelete
  126. It's funny how the only ones that claim "13" are UAT and the bammers. Just because they claim it, doesn't make it true.

I don't know if this has been discussed, but did anyone see The Sports Reporters yesterday? I do watch it, but I forgot yesterday. Apparently, John Saunders told UAT they only have 8 NCs.

    ReplyDelete
  127. "You'd give your last dollar to a friend."

Well that might be going a bit too far.

    ReplyDelete
  128. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I personally have won 7 cool guy national championships today alone.

    ReplyDelete
  130. I saw that LUV and posted it. I thought it was pretty funny. After he said it they all kind of laughed.

    ReplyDelete
  131. RK, don't push it too far!!!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Damn, I hate that I missed that!!

    ReplyDelete
  133. You people are too hard on the Bambi. I mean, they should be admired. Before the Bear got there, they claimed 1 NC. After he retired, they claimed man, including are 5 before he got there. What other team can win national championships in years decades after the seasons have passed? You got to admie that.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Digger, I guess we are all rednecks then!

    ReplyDelete
  135. CH=B, the theme the last few weeks has been that they are getting called out. ESPN made a Bama alum say it, all of the graphics on the TV have said 7/8, Jay G's made a point to mention it, there was an article recently written questioning the guy responsible for adding the extras, and Luv just wrote that John Saunders called them out on the best show on television yesterday.

Didn't your parents ever use the "just because everyone else is doing it, doesn't make it right" line on you?

    ReplyDelete
  136. CH=B has a point. But, I can just hear the bammers if Auburn and Auburn fans started claiming 12 NCs! Not only are the kings and queens of excuses, but also double standards!

    ReplyDelete
  137. Hey, eight national titles is impressive. They should be proud.

    ReplyDelete
  138. RK...exactly.

That eight is not enough for them shows a detachment from reality.

  139. The bottom line is that NCs claimed before the great depression mean about as much as....um, someone help me here. Heck, the ones in the prior century are pretty much meaningless.

    ReplyDelete
  140. I agree that we should only claim what was rightfully given to us. Please scratch my previous posts.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Minnesota's got a bunch of National Championships. Do we consider them a "storied program?"

    ReplyDelete
  142. Princeton is the most storied program in college football.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Shouldn't Princeton get an automatic BCS bid?

    ReplyDelete
  144. G, can we get that walmartian crap removed from the main page?

    ReplyDelete
  145. PF...yes.

We're talking about the school where Craig T. Nelson and Dick Van Dyke's brother coached at, right?

    ReplyDelete
  146. Michael-Did you get to read page 2 of Jay's article yet? I could not believe he included pix of those barely clothed cheerleaders in that article.

    ReplyDelete
  147. E-Bro, Hayden Fox and Luther Van Dam both coached at Chattanooga before moving on to coach the Minnesota State Screaming Eagles.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Pete Carroll going to the Seahawks is interesting. There is nothing like leaving on a low note.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Better than leaving on a lower not (pink slip).

    ReplyDelete
  150. THT, not so much, but did have a call about some this morning.

Michael, no compensation necessary - just trying to save you from yourself. You are paying Kristina too much, though.

    ReplyDelete
  151. RK...roger that. When Hayden Fox won the Super Bowl with the Orlando Breakers, he spoke in glowing terms of his time in the Scenic City.

Dobber played at Chattanooga too, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Does Carroll leaving change Seastrunk's plans? Does he end up at Oregon?

    ReplyDelete
  153. He got his as the empire was crumbling and got out.

Had he stayed a month longer, he might have really left on a down note.

    ReplyDelete
  154. I always thought Dobber was Mike Dubose.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Dobber = Mike Dubose, now that is funny. I can see the similarity.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Dobber is Dubose w/o the infidelity.

    He's a one woman man.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Holy crap, whoever made that shirt must be on a registry somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I just don't get Carroll going to the Seahawks. Isn't the USC head coaching position much highly regarded than the Seahawks head coaching position? I just don't see it, unless it is just the money. I think he is suppose to make over $6 Million a year with Seattle.

    ReplyDelete
  159. wtc - no, I have not yet read page 2. I have decided it doesn't exist, in fact. It is like the MNC of Jay G Tate article pages. Just because you guys are talking about it doesn't make it real.

    ReplyDelete
  160. This has been a helluva day so far...

    ReplyDelete
  161. OK, HABOTNistas. Time to focus.

I am reminded of a great American football philosophizer -- Dennis Green.

"They are who we thought they were."

We expected them to win. And they did. Let's move on.

Whether they've won 8, 13 or 750 national championships, it doesn't matter. The pertinent number is one. The one they won last week.

The rest of it is just chasing a houndstooth ghost in a haze of Chesterfield cigarettes and the smell of cheap scotch.

Ask yourself this: is Auburn football better off today than it was the day Chizik was hired? Absolutely.

    Do you see the path?

It's time to cut the "Eat Me" cake and unleash the "Deathmobile" on the Cousin Humpers and everyone else who stands in the way of us and our goals.

Are you with me? Let's do it!

    ReplyDelete
  162. Think I'll pass Jet.. :-P

    ReplyDelete
  163. Steve,

    Two words: NCAA Sanctions!

    ReplyDelete
  164. I am with you brohan.

    ReplyDelete
  165. I have a confession to make: though rooting for Texas, I am happy for Alabama that they won. I haven't had any negative feelings toward them. I haven't run into any jerk fans. All the fans I know have been completely cool about it.

But what I think it comes down to is that Auburn's future looks great now. I don't even want bama to slip the next couple of years. I want them to stay strong so we can have some epic Florida-Florida St circa 1990's clashes that decide the fate of humanity and have the nation's attention. This is a 180 from my previous hope that bama gets put on probation and dies a slow death littered with losing seasons.

So anyway, I will bring the hate on the week of the Iron Bowl, but other than that, I am cool with 'em. For now.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Exactly PF...

Pete is bailing out before the hammer comes down.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I was going to send the creator of "NO, I WILL NOT PAY 3.99$ A MONTH TO USE FACE BOOK FROM JULY 9TH 2010!" a nasty message saying how stupid she was for forming a group based on a false rumor, but then I looked at her pic and decided she was too hot to berate.

    ReplyDelete
  168. I use to think Tennessee player promotions were bad.

    ReplyDelete
  169. michael...

I agree. I think LSU is on the way down. That leaves a void in the top two in the West. I expect Auburn to make a run at it.

    ReplyDelete
  170. Sweet Sassy Molassy PF...

    ReplyDelete
  171. I thought so, too...beats UCLA in the pics posted last week by about a pretty wide margin.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Sweet fancy Moses indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Well, it's close. Maybe not a landslide.

    ReplyDelete
  174. PF...
    Wow! She can.....ahh nevermind.

    ReplyDelete
  175. This quote isn't mine, but I love it: "Alabama claims national titles bestowed by the UPI, AP, ESPN, and FWA polls, as well as all future national championships won by Alabama fans playing any version of EA Sports NCAA Football."

    ReplyDelete
  176. Chb: what walmartian stuff can I take down? I don't see any.

    ReplyDelete
  177. She makes me want to listen to the USC band play "Tusk."

    ReplyDelete
  178. Donny's pants are getting tight.

    ReplyDelete
  179. UGH! The bammers are out in full force wearing their crimpsum and houndstooth at the Shelby Baptist ER. One woman was wearing a HUGE elephant necklace. I'm glad it's quittin' time!

    ReplyDelete
  180. Time to flip this bad boy!

    ReplyDelete
  181. Is Norm available?

    ReplyDelete
  182. PF and FSJ, you beat me to it. That is EXACTLY why Carroll is leaving.

    ReplyDelete
  183. I guess it's up to me.

    ReplyDelete
  184. Has Norm gone back to sleep?

we need him to flip the page.

    ReplyDelete
  185. PF: I forgot to mention that Rebecca Andersson is not just a Facebook friend; she's my "side girl."

    ReplyDelete
  186. Is she knocked up?

    ReplyDelete
