Hey everyone. So John Brice from VolQuest.com has posted an exclusive interview with Lane Kiffin, which includes this great exchange.
VQ: Will you miss not being able to needle Urban Meyer, or will you still needle him from the West Coast?
LK: No, it's good. Now I can do it and not get fined for it.
And some of you all don't like this guy? Come on.
Michael loves him!
ReplyDeleteKiffikin is definitely something special.
ReplyDeleteinternet soooooooo slow here
ReplyDeleteGot to love Lane.
ReplyDeleteWhat a jerk - have to say though - gonna miss the drama he created
ReplyDeleteKiffin creates more drama than any man or woman I've ever met....
ReplyDeleteYou can't do that to SEC coaches! Only we can do that to SEC coaches!
ReplyDeleteI think he's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI loved that his practices, all of them, were open. OPEN.
I sure am glad Auburn didn't even consider him.
ReplyDeleteHow much fun do you think it would be to cover both Kiffin and Neuheisel?
ReplyDeleteCould Alabama have a better year? National Championship, TN turmoil,....Imagine how they would be if something happened to Auburn!
ReplyDeleteKiffin is one hillarious kat. I hope he keeps it up with Urban "Broken Heart" Meyer.
ReplyDeletewtc, if what you said on the last thread is true about the dead period, Eddie O isn't the only one guilty.
KATHY!!!! BITE YOUR TONGUE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI find him entertaining...however I'm very glad we didn't go in that direction when we were looking for a coach.
ReplyDeleteI got a tweet from that Vol player from last night saying the UT fans broke into their stadium and were having a riot there too. Those UT fans are definitely special.
ReplyDeleteI'm just watching the Bama fans here at work Luv. They are down right giddy. They said if they got news about Auburn, they would have to take vacation!
ReplyDeleteI think Chizik & Co takes very good care of Auburn....
Kathy,
ReplyDeleteif it could get better I don't know if I could handle myself...
Just enjoy FSJ!
ReplyDeleteOk, some on this blog were openly advocating for Lame Kitten to come to AU when it became apparent there was going to be an opening. Time to man up, confess, and admit that would have been a horrible mistake.
ReplyDeleteWhy would you riot your own town and stadium? That's crazy. Good riddance and don't let the door hit you on the way out. TN won't have trouble finding another coach.
ReplyDeleteSteve from Lubbock,
ReplyDeleteThey were trying to in the "gate 32" video. You know a crowd that size would have eventually found their way in.
Steve from Lubbock,
ReplyDeleteThey were trying to in the "gate 32" video. You know a crowd that size would have eventually found their way in.
According to my mom, AU contacted one kid about coming to AU but he is not coming.
ReplyDeleteAU is sticking with who they want now. It is too late in the game for AU. Look for Lattimore, Mack, Whittaker, Thornton or Jones and maybe Swilling as a DB. That is all we have room for unless someone defects or does not qualify, which seems unlikely at this time.
Kathy,
ReplyDeletethe riots were more like a bunch of kids running around laughing. The only damages I've heard about were to a matress someone threw in the street and some kiffin related products, and they were trying to tear down an ugly sculpture that everyone hates already.
I should have added the dead period is for in home visits. My mistake.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing that out.
Those that suggested Mike Leach as a replacement might have a point. Thinking about it, it will be very hard for UT to find a top name coach 3 weeks before signing day. They would likely need to go after an unemployed coach or possibly a coordinator somewhere. This would also say that Tuberville would have likely been a possibility if he hadn't taken the Texas Tech gig.
ReplyDeleteIt will definitely be interesting to see who UT gets with a limited set of choices. The other thing would be to find someone in from a lower divisio, but UT has to feel like they have to make a splash hire before that 100,000 seat stadium comes tumbling down.
I love me some Lane Kiffin.
ReplyDeleteOK, I admit it. I am going to miss him. He was a coach with personality who was fun to hate. He really grew on me over the course of the season.
ReplyDeleteI know from first hand reports that he and especially Orgeron are genuinely a scuzz balls, but I salute him for playing the villain. It was fun while it lasted.
I don't think they go for Leach - to recent a firing and a lot of rumors out there about other things he has reportedly done.
ReplyDeleteI'm really at a loss on what recycled coaches are out there that would be a good fit for UT.
They have to have (for their own good that is) have a coach in place before signing day, right? Kids got'ta know who his coach is before he signs on the dotted line. I have read 3 present commits backing away (pretty highly ranked too), I think there will be more.
LT
The other thing UT could do would be to go after someone like Cutcliffe. He wouldn't have the wow factor though.
ReplyDeleteWith Leach, he is one huge negative in terms of what went on and how he dealt with the university. I can see why they wouldn't want to risk hiring the guy.
I just don't see where UT would have a lot of good choices. Kiffikin did this at about the worst time possible in terms of the university. At least he gave his recruits enough time to go somewhere else.
Eddie ... need help on a demo estimate. Hit me on the FB
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, our official evil empire representative had a good point about an Auburn coordinator last night, but I don't want to consider that.
ReplyDeleteKiffin is Spurrier when Spurrier first came to UF. He says things just to annoy opposing fan bases and stir the pot. A lot of people hated Spurrier back then, me included. As I learned more about him, I realized he said most things with tongue in cheek. I respect him now and think he's funny. All this to say, Kiffin says things to stir the pot and its entertaining, but I don't think I'll have the same respect for him in the future.
ReplyDeleteThe Haitian presidential palace crumbled from the earthquake. That is basically their White House.
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard the Kiffins were leaving Knoxvegas I broke out the Jack Daniel's and put on Eric Clapton.
ReplyDeleteLayla, you've got me on my knees.
Layla, I'm begging, darling please.
Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind...
Kiffen definitely has the power to surprise and delight. I must admit I had begun to be amused by him ("like" is probably too strong a word). I am certaingly glad AU beat him and the Vols when we had the opportunity.
ReplyDeleteHow about Kirby Smart to TN? Going by the St. Nick standard, that wouldn't be a lateral...
I hate that Kiffykins is leaving. He was fun to watch in a crazy cousin kind of way.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the domino effect of these things always scares me. I worry they will bring in someone better, or raid one of our guys.
Kirby Smart would seem to be a possibility too, although with more time I think UT would go for a much bigger name.
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be very interesting to see what happens. It wouldn't surprise me for UT to have someone before the weekend.
Aubie, I thought about that last night too... I sure hope not!
ReplyDeleteThis is also why not getting someone like Turner Gill is a good idea. Should Nebraska come calling, Gill might leave quickly. If I were UT I would look at past assistants/graduates that have a reason to want to be at UT. The next coach can't leave in a year.
ReplyDeleteSteve, you make a valid point, but, Willis had a reason to be at Auburn, but that didn't keep him there.
ReplyDeleteLike your shirt, Aubie! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Eph!
ReplyDeleteWillis kind of get screwed over by Auburn, or at least he felt that he did. They gave him a severance package and then asked for it back.
ReplyDeleteI kind of have mixed feelings on that because technically he was fired and rehired. Other coaches that went somewhere else got to keep their severance. It was just a bad situation resulting from school policy, if I understand it correctly. I don't think the athletic department even had a say in the matter.
Oh yeah, I forgot about all that crap that went with his defection.
ReplyDeleteIf they are dialed into young with SEC pedigree, then they need to go Austin and get it over with quickly.
ReplyDeleteIf they are looking for some head coaching experience, then Butch Davis, Chris Peterson, Gary Patterson and Skip Holtz should be contacted. Pick your own order of that group.
If they are looking to kill the program, call Cutcliffe.
I know this old news since it was published on Jan. 8, but what do you guys think of Schlabach's 2010 Top 25? In particular, where he has UGA ranked.
ReplyDeleteI celebrated the national championship for the dark side by going to Walmart on Saturday. I bought one item (not a clothing item) and left. There was no crystal ball and no crowd at this store. Hmmm...
ReplyDeleteso, is Willis a done to TX Tech with Tubs? how funny....who'd have thought that Tubs would be stealing coaches away from $atan, i mean, $aban. ha.
ReplyDeleteThe problem I had with Willis wasn't that he left, but rather where he went to.
ReplyDeleteI have see Willis to Texas Tech mentioned on here. Is this just an internet rumor or is there a story somewhere about it?
ReplyDeleteSteve, I think that was the problem most AU fans had with Willis.
ReplyDeleteTweet of the day from Terrell Zachery: "Just finished a workout and running route with Emory Blake and Cam.its official Cam Newton is a BEAST...yea, im cosigning haha"
ReplyDeleteFrom Pat Forde at espn.com:
ReplyDelete"At this rate, Lane Kiffin is an 8-5 season at USC away from a $50 million contract to coach Peyton Manning and the Colts."
That's a great quote.
Willis to TTU?
ReplyDeletehey how about mr. Spurrier to Tenn... leaving SC out of luck and pushing that sweet 5* RB our way...
ReplyDeleteLane's a scumbag. Wreaked havoc in that program for 14 months, then sold out his players 3 weeks before signing day.
ReplyDeleteGreat call by USC: Sanctions loom, so they hire a guy with a horrible track record and knowledge of the rules.
It's perfect. Let's hire a retard.
Forde also wrote a pretty damning article of USC athletics a few days ago.
ReplyDeleteIt's even better in retrospect.
Thanks Luv
ReplyDeleteJ.Kev: You forget that USC is the NCAA's Golden Child. Do you really think it's going to give them anything more than a wrist slap for the Bush incident? That is why Kiffin's comments on the main page are both hilarious and terrifying.
ReplyDeleteBush incident, no, because nobody told them anything.
ReplyDeleteMcKnight, maybe a little.
Lack of Institutional Control because everyone knows (but can't prove) what actually went down, coupled with the basketball stuff, very likely.
Loss of a few scholarships, erase five or six wins, and probation. Doubt they even get banned from postseason play...yeah, wristslap, but they better keep Lane under wraps when on probation.
I hold that the AD got some really stinky weed from Mexico before he could bring himself (or come up with the idea) to hire Kiffin.
ReplyDeleteI like Plaschke's Headline
ReplyDelete"Lane Kiffin: a lightweight for USC's heavyweight program"
http://www.latimes.com/sports/college/usc/la-sp-plaschke-usc13-2010jan13,0,4294526,full.column
So Satan is now in charge of the SEC.
ReplyDeleteVQ: So did you fly to Orlando and that's where you cemented the deal, at the American Football Coaches Association convention?
LK: No, I was going because it's mandatory for the head coaches to go to the SEC (meeting). We had a meeting with (commissioner Mike) Slive today, and Nick Saban ran it.
Rich Brooks tweeted last night that he's "seen it all now."
ReplyDeleteno way he wasn't jerking that reporter around with that comment.
ReplyDeleteRich Brooks knows how to Tweet? I've seen it all now....
ReplyDeleteI'd be shocked to know he even had a cell phone.
Jimmy, that article is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteKnox Kiffin is a year old today.
ReplyDeleteOk, so let's assume that a few of USC's wins in 2004 are nullified. Who's the BCS Nat'l Champeeeeen that year?
ReplyDeleteI ask because I still believe Denial is only a river in Egypt.
Commish, UAT will probably find some way to claim it.
ReplyDeleteComm'r, I would think it could become a vacated title. That is about all I would make of it. I wouldn't really care for a NC won 6 years after the season. The is too bameresque.
ReplyDeleteLane Kiffin already has a USC twitter page.
ReplyDeleteAwesome.
Here's Lane first tweet as USC coach:
ReplyDelete"Its not easy being Lane Kiffin. I want to thank all my fans.. that i have left"
Good point, SChoc. They're probably already displaying it ... at Wal-Mart.
ReplyDeleteWhat is that, number "ateteeeen"?
It just doesn't get much better than this.
ReplyDeleteSorry I can't stick around now, I am exhausted from streaking last night through Knoxville. I avoided the cameras so that I would not be on TV but I got a rousing applause from the students as I pissed on a Kiffin t-shirt.
Catch you all later.
Scott, I literally LOL'ed at that!!
ReplyDeleteI'm cashing in on the Lane Train. Selling all my Kiffin shirts on Ebay to Vol fans for desecration. These hillbillies are truly committed.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteUA won the first half against Auburn who finished no. 2 in 2004 therefore they will be BCS Champs.
ReplyDeleteWas that really Digger on that driveby? LOL
ReplyDeleteCommish, why don't we leave that alone unless it actually happens?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen this article posted by Clay Travis regarding Kiffin's antics @ Tennessee?
Link
The article alleges that Kiffin went to great lengths to establish USC traditions at Knoxville, while ignoring UT's own. If any of it's even remotely true, how did that not come out in the last year? You'd think there'd be some grumbling somewhere.
Weagle, as you wish. The Commish Dude abides....
ReplyDeleteSorry if already posted:
ReplyDeletehttp://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2010/01/12/volunteer-sources-say-kiffin-never-embraced-tennessee/
Weagle, sorry I was posting as you were. You were kind enough to link it.
ReplyDeleteYou'd think that if that article is true the fans would be saying, "Goodbye and good riddance!"
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone else think the Wild Boys thing is really really lame?
ReplyDeleteI dunno, Seanzie. I always thought Kiffin and Orgeron were pretty funny in that show, stripping down to their underwear and messing with wild animals and stuff.
ReplyDeleteAubie, is that shirt for sale anywhere?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it's already been posted somewhere on here, but did anyone see the comments from one of UT's commits? He said that Orgeron called him before it was officially announced and told him not to enroll at UT the next day.
ReplyDeleteThis is also comedy gold: Lane Kiffin's USC Presser
ReplyDeleteThe Bama homers at WNSP interviewed Dan Wetzel of yahoo Sports this morning, and his response to every USC question was, "I just don't think they care." This was the answer, regardless of whether the question was about the impending NCAA investigation, Lane Kiffin's conduct, Kiffy's HC record, or violations at UT. It didn't matter. They apparently don't care.
That article about Kiffikin playing USC video at UT is simply incredible. I can't imagine it. If it weren't from such a credible source, I wouldn't believe it. Incredible.
ReplyDeleteFor those of you that had hoped we would get Kiffikin, please wash your mouths out with soap.
I know some were concerned with the Chizik hire, but God bless Chizik. He is a real Auburn man.
I'm not sure if there is a NCAA rule agains that but there is certaintly an unspoken rull against it.
ReplyDeleteClay Travis spent more than a year carrying water and making excuses for Lane Kiffin. At times I thought he was defending the indefensible.
ReplyDeleteI read that column this morning. I think it's telling that it's all from the perspective of a player on the team and his broken heart.
Clay's book, "On Rocky Top," is one of the 10 best sports books I've ever read. But he's eating lots of crow.
Clay Travis is like millions of other UT fans. Deep down they always knew Kiffin was big trouble, but they wanted to believe in something good for the future.
ReplyDeleteIt won't take them long to realize that they'll be much better off when the smoke clears.
E-Bro, I have to agree. Kiffikin had train wreck written all over him. The real train wreck will likely occur at USCw now.
ReplyDeleteGreat Link Weagl.
ReplyDeleteI saw/heard the article WalMartian. I also heard it reported that it was an Official University of Tennessee cell phone he was using. UT officials got word of it and cut off all cell phones immediately.
ReplyDeletePer Forde of ESPN:
ReplyDeleteParis Hilton has paid more dues than Lane Kiffin.
J Kev - completely agree about Clay Travis. He was great at deadspin, I have read excerpts from his book and it is really good too, but this last fall when he began to lose all kinds of logic in his articles (especially the one about the hostesses) out of his UT fandom and Kiffin worship. Kind of weird he is spearheading the "Kiffin was never good for us" line of thinking all of a sudden.
ReplyDeleteAnd he had a lot of info in that article... almost seemed like he has been sitting on it... some might say "hiding it".
I think the Muschamp to UT talk has already started to die down.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess they make a run at Patterson from TCU.
Count me as one who fell off the Clay Travis bandwagon this fall. I liked him alright at Deadspin, but I really liked him at CBSsportsline.
ReplyDeleteFew weeks ago, he wrote an article basically calling Urban Meyer a d-bag and saying he's an I Me Mine guy who takes the fun out of football.
I was just like...wha? You talking about Urban Meyer or Lane Kiffin. Take the blinders off buddy.
Michael:
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. The center quoted in the article is one of the players that Clay really bonded with during 2008 while he was researching the book.
I imagine that piece was for the most part in the can. I can certainly see Clay's staying in touch with several players for sourcing purposes.
We're trying to book Clay for tomorrow. He's been pretty smug lately. Kinda big-times us.
Question for the blog: Has Lane Kiffin done anything other than get people (diddy) to help him get into really good high paying jobs, and then bs his way into the next one? I mean he doesn't have an exemplary coaching record, or a huge base of experience. Why do these schools keep calling on him?
ReplyDeletemuschamp wont coach at saban's rival school.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen anyone make this point, so thought I'd ask/offer it:
ReplyDeleteIsn't even more idiotic for Kiffin to go back to USC, with the impending NCAA investigations- -since HE was the recruiting coordinator during the time period they are investigating? Learn from Calipari- -you break the rules, but then you leave that program and don't go back. Make them pay for your mistakes.
Why would you go back to the scene of the crime?
Tommy, I have wondered the same thing, even back when Tennessee hired him. Because someone is a decent coordinator, doesn't mean they are a great head coach. From what he has done at UT, it doesn't appear he is even a good head coach, other than his choice of assistants.
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that USC grabbed him. It is a hard call of who won this one, USCw or UT.
So, I'm coming back from doing a portable CXR and there is a person standing in the doorway of a patient room wearing a shirt that says something about 13 NC's. A doctor walked by and said, "Hey, I like your shirt!" After I had passed, I said, "Too bad they only have 8."
ReplyDeleteAny possible positive outcomes on the recruiting front for AU out of the mess at UT? Guys maybe who are between those 2 schools and now may lean AU's way because of the uncertainty and mess?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI see an article at ESPN entitled "Lane Change". Pretty clever.
ReplyDeleteSteve-
ReplyDeleteCool. I can't think though if there is any last minute switching- -that turmoil at UT, still no D Coord at UGA, etc., etc.- can do nothing but help us (being a stable, on the rise place).
Brandon Willis might be a possibility at DT.
ReplyDeleteWDE, I don't think Auburn was really after anyone that was committed to UT. I think they have their final six in mind and will put all efforts towards them.
ReplyDeleteWillis has now committed to UNC. Our coaches really want Whittaker, Thorton and/or Jones for DT.
ReplyDeleteI think Boom's holding out for the job at UGA in a few years.
ReplyDeleteer... the HC job.
ReplyDeleteIs Lance Thompson still in TN?
ReplyDeleteScratch Brandon Willis. He is headed to North Carolina.
ReplyDeleteSeastrunk is no longer taking his official visit to USC this weekend.
ReplyDeleteE-Bro,
ReplyDeleteIf you are near a TV, Ch 12 has the Mike Hamilton press conference on right now.
Seastrunk might be the most interesting possibility. I am sure we would find a place for him.
ReplyDeleteI read a comment on a blog that suggested coaches, just like players, should have to sit out a year between gigs. I find that idea intriguing. It would certainly be more fair to the players.
There was an recent article where Seastrunk's grandmother and mother told him he couldn't go to TN because of all the recent troubles their atheletes had gotten into. Now that same coaching staff has moved to USC.
ReplyDeleteThanks RK!
ReplyDeletewe should all be thanking Kiffin for being a tool right now. so, thanks Kiffin. cheers!
ReplyDeleteI remember that Kathy. It can't hurt our chances but I still think we get Latt and Seastrunk goes to Oregon.
ReplyDeleteKippy Brown seems like a pretty classy guy.
ReplyDeleteThinks he's a legit candidate for the UT job.
When asked about whether Kiffin asked him to come to LA he responded:
"I'm not an LA guy."
Hamilton sees no scenario where Fulmer comes back to coach UT.
ReplyDeleteNot a big surprise there.
There have to be several easy jokes available with this:
ReplyDeletehttp://blog.al.com/spotnews/2010/01/ua_committee_approves_purchase.html
Kippy Brown wore our 244 out when he was QB at Memphis State in 1975.
ReplyDeleteI like Kippy Brown, he's from Sweetwater, TN. However I seriously doubt they will give him the chance as the HC.
ReplyDeleteHEADLINE: Alabama's two largest institutions for the mentally ill to merge
ReplyDeleteNice, Jet. I couldn't think of one, but I knew I could count on a Hottie.
ReplyDeleteI did see in the comments section on that article where someone said, "Now fans can visit friends and family right after the game."
ReplyDeleteScott, I couldn't get the link to work...
ReplyDeleteTry this:
ReplyDeleteBryce
folks up here have nothing but good stuff to say about Kippy, but don't consider him to be a strong candidate. he doesn't have that 'wow' factor in his name. shame, b/c he seems to be a good guy.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how many UT fans are still drunk and singing Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name" re: Lane Kiffin.
ReplyDeleteThe PBR overruneth, the redneck is in full swing and bad 80's coping music fills the air.
People are really having fun (at 'Bamer's expense I might add) in the comment section on that article Scott. I quite enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI don't consider Kippy a candidate at all.
ReplyDeleteThat's just what Kippy was saying. That he considered himself a legit candidate.
Hamilton said he knew about Kiffin leaving on Saturday.
Shon Coleman picked up a 5th stay on rivals...we now have 3 five stars
ReplyDeleteAre you sure, Jhag? I heard he moved up to No. 22...but don't see a 5th star?
ReplyDeleteI am rested and well.
ReplyDeleteIt will become evident that this is a win for Tenn and a loss for USCw. This D'bag is a cancer and will grow rapidly in the warm Calif. sun.
The Lane Change should have read "quick Lane Change, watch out for wreck ahead".
I wonder if young Knox Kiffin is due a name change?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, never really anticipated a merger between UAT and Bryce. The surprises just keep coming.
ReplyDeleteTrojan Kiffikin, or does that sound too much like a porn star's name?
ReplyDeleteI just read where the Fed said the recovery is going well, other than there aren't many new jobs. So, are they telling 15 Million Americans who are out of work to enjoy the view from the sidelines?
ReplyDeleteSteve: There's too much primo SPORTS infotainment to be talking about the Fed. What's next, whether to plant Blue Grass fescue or Bermuda?
ReplyDeleteHow about "Traveler"?
ReplyDeleteHermit Kiffin?
ReplyDeleteSee, the USC mascot is "Traveler", and the kid is gonna be traveling all over as Lane Kiffin changes jobs, and...nevermind. Let's just stick with the Trojan jokes..."Gosh, Layla, if I'd had the Trojans, Knox might not even be here".
ReplyDeleteThey'll just nickname him Troy.
ReplyDeleteSo if Coleman gets a fifth star, then should we assume Rivals expects him to decommit?
ReplyDeleteOk.. got the son's name and the nickname. I think every possible angle of this story is now covered.
ReplyDeleteHABOTN: coverage you can count on.
By the way, anyone notice that our average height of the EE @ Auburn is higher than our basketball starting lineup?
ReplyDeleteTHT
ReplyDeleteHow's your shoulder?
If he turns out to be a slow-witted fat boy, they could rename their son Peter Kiffin, which would fit well with USC.
ReplyDeleteJust logged in to Scout's Vol forum page - 13,000+ online right now.
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable!!
Anybody else think how incredibly strange that this was kept a secret, and when announced was almost a complete surprise? In this day and media age - no leaks? Pretty amazing side story in my view.
ReplyDeleteThis is being reported on the Sports Time Network.
ReplyDeleteBreaking News: UT offers Mike Leach; Troy Calhoun second in-line
By Dan Harralson and Nick Taylor
The Sports Times Network has learned today, through a close source, that The University of Tennessee will ask Mike Leach to become the next head coach of the Vols. If for what ever reason Leach were not to accept the offer, second in-line is Air Force's head coach Troy Calhoun. Coach Calhoun is a great friend of The Sports Times Network and is a class-act. We hope the best for him if he accepts an offer by Tennessee (which we were told he will if Leach does not) or stays with The Air Force Academy (if Leach were to accept UT's offer.)
God Bless,
The Sports Times Network
I find it hard to believe Leach is their man.
Rivals now ranks OL Shon Coleman the 22nd best overall prospectin the country. Golly!!
ReplyDeleteHoly. it can get even better if Leach hires Jim Leavitt as the defensive coordinator.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't know until yesterday.
ReplyDeleteMike Hamilton asked Kiffin on Saturday if he was interested and Kiffin said "I would listen if they called."
They apparently didn't call Kiffin until yesterday morning and he took the job yesterday afternoon.
Comm'r, sorry. I should known to have requested permission from you first.
ReplyDeleteWhat a day to be busy...oh well, I see I've missed all the fun.
ReplyDeleteGetting Leach makes sense with the short time frame, but for a team that has consistently had issues with team discipline, this is a pretty dramatic change. I wonder when the beatings begin?
ReplyDeleteLeach is the anti-Fulmer & Kiffin.
ReplyDeleteRK, that is for certain. I can see why UT would do this. It is a very big name. I thought Leach would basically be black balled, but I hadn't considered a team in this type of a desperate situation. They had to have someone quick and he is a big name who would likely be willing to jump at the chance.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteLeach is not a bad guy. His worm gear does not always make connection to his drive gear but that just means his brain is not always running.
ReplyDeleteHe would be a good hire.
Lubbock Steve: Permission denied - generally.
ReplyDeleteNow there will be pirates running around everywhere. Of course UT fans were already considered butt pirates...so.
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of worried about losing Shon Coleman. How soft of a verbal is he? I read somewhere he was seriously reconsidering lately.
ReplyDeleteAnd ironically, if Knoxville is still standing after the riots, it is a much better position than Texas Tech. Leach with Vol talent could be pretty scary.
ReplyDeleteThanks Comm'r. It is always nice to hear from the peanut gallery.
ReplyDeleteColeman has been a soft verbal all along, so I wouldn't get overly concerned.
ReplyDeleteMakkah with all the fast starts in recriting in this day and time hopefully everyone has there quota and even if he is not solid he will not find an opening.
ReplyDeleteLeach to UT??? So much for the notion that the soap opera headed west. And to think all we'd have in the sports world for entertainment this Winter was basketball (zzzz).
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be some technical difficulties going on at rivals. The evil empire is no longer ranked as the number one recruiting class. They should clear that up shortly, I would think.
ReplyDeleteI believe there isn't a whisker of difference in the top 5 recruting classes and not much more in the top 10. So anywhere in there would be fine with me if Auburn lands in that group.
ReplyDeleteSteve, Judge Smails is here in the peanut gallery. He'd like to know if you have a job (other than waxing authoritative on this blog 24/7).
ReplyDeletewith Rivals' currently shuffling of stars we are currently #4. wow.
ReplyDelete1. Florida
2. Texas
3. Bama
4. Auburn
5. Oklahoma
6. USC
not bad guys, not bad.
In other more bizarre news, I am seeing rumors of Leach going to UCLA to replace OC Chow when he heads to USC.
ReplyDeleteI believe Bama's class is getting full...should that be the case, AU stands a very good chance of passing them in the rivals rankings.
ReplyDeleteRumors move faster than a fart in a hurrican.
ReplyDeleteChoise Tenn head coach UCLA OC
Take your time this is a hard one
I wouldn't believe anything at this point until there is an official announcement.
ReplyDeletechoice dummy
ReplyDeleteI just read an article a few mins ago where it talked about when Kiffin arrived pictures at the athletic dept at UT being replaced with pictures of players at USC that Kiffin, and that videos they would show on junior day and stuff like that would be all USC players and nothing related to UT.
ReplyDeleteNow of course, why wasn't this brought to the media's attention last January or June when they had junior day?
All of the sudden people were upset, but it took them 8 months to be vocal about it.
digger, it is okay. We don't take off for spelling. I would get killed on grammar at times.
ReplyDeleteWell...it is what it is RK, you justify it and try and explain it away at the time, if you're a UT fan. Now you look at it like why were we so stupid?
ReplyDeleteRK- I just read that and amazed how silent they have been to now being upset. The fact is that they did not care and now they do because they were jilted. This stuff just keeps getting better and better.
ReplyDeleteEddie, it is quite amazing, I agree. I would have been fired up about it from day 1.
ReplyDeleteIt's called making a deal with the Devil.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately for them, Lucifer may have came to collect earlier than they had hoped.
So what else is there to talk about, I'm already growing bored with UT, my sister, who attends, is already over it.
ReplyDeleteA couple of fun links:
ReplyDeleteEvanston city council
Walmart line
Time to flip it!
ReplyDeleteWho's ready?
ReplyDeleteNorm?
ReplyDelete200.
ReplyDeleteGuess it had to be me...
ReplyDelete
