Looking at: AU @ Vanderbilt men

Vandy has a unique gym to say the least.
I am out until after NSD.
I will be checking in from time to time.
Jet, maybe HK or 5 guys next week?
I love Memorial Gym.
WTC ... contact me through FB ... and let's try to work it out.
Unique is being nice.
Out until after NSD?
Where are we supposed to get info from your mom now?
WTC and his Mom are going pay site strictly through NSD.
We'll never see him again. Once they go pro, they never come back.
Jet is kidding
right
right
Jet ??
I used to enjoy reading Chris Low.
I shall return with obtuse comments before national signing day.
wtc,
You can't leave us like this. You have turned us all into addicts, and now you say you are taking away our drugs?
Enjoyed Conan's last show. His final comments regarding NBC were classy and professional.
No more wtc news? What about mom?
I've always found it easy to be classy when someone writes you a $33 million check.
Furr played in 12 games this past season for Memphis, starting in two of them. He recorded 15 tackles in those 12 games.
http://www.gotigersgo.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2009-2010/teamcume.html#TEAM.DEF
His buddy Jarmon Fortson had 41 catches for 537 yards and 4 TDs for the Florida State Seminoles.
Unfortunately the week of NSD will be very busy for me. I will have to follow along through Twitter.
JGT, please tweet often!
WTC has a Classic pusher mentality... get you hooked, then take it away....
After a few days... they jack up the price on you.
I'm working on brisket this morning...again. We are "struuuuuuuggggggling" with brisket. There's such a fine line between overdone and tough.
I'm going to try the Myron Mixon method to cooking brisket at a higher temperature.
He's a three time world champion on the BBQ circuit so maybe I should do what he does huh?
There's a BBQ circuit? I mean, do people go pro and stuff?
Oh yeah Phred..
This may be more than you want to know but there are actually two circuits.
One is run by the Kansas City BBQ Society and one is run by the group that runs Memphis in May.
There's a show on TLC right now about a few of the pros...Myron Mixon is in that group. He's won Memphis in May three times. According to the show he's won nearly $700,000 in prize money over the course of a few years.
My brother in law and a friend of ours started a team this past year and entered a few contests. We didn't win but we did well enough to get hooked. We are expanding the number we are going to compete in this year. I'm probably the more serious one on our team. They are more interested in the social aspect of the competition. We are in no way professionals. Some of these guys have $20,000 in grils and motor homes like you see at Alabama or Auburn games.
That just leaves me speechless. I would have never imagined. Any guys from our former coaching staff on the circuit?
Things that just make you continue to laugh.....and also wonder why this guy was born on 3rd base.
Lane Kiffin has only been the USC head football coach for 10 days and has already committed his first secondary violation.
Volquest.com is reporting that the former Vols football coach picked up a recruit from the airport in a limo.
that recruit was Ambles.
I also saw where $aban is "bumping" into recruits again.
As the wise Herman Edwards once said.
"You play to win the game!"
LOL...I don't think so, but you never know.
There are several strong teams from Alabama though.
The most prominent is the group from Big Bob Gibson's BBQ out of Decatur. They have won Memphis in May twice I think.
I've said it before ...
"If you ain't secondarily violatin', you ain't 'cruitin'.
I feel like a kid again. I'm about to eat a Tostino's frozen pizza. I got 4 for $5. I forgot how good these things were.
FSJ, were you laughing at my comment? If so, that came directly from Driskle himself.
you might have been laughing at the BBQ boyz reference.
Hawt Cartoon Auburn Chick loves BBQ.
Never done brisket myselg though. Can you share some tips?
I was laughing at the BBQ Boys comment.
There is a time and place for BBQ. The time is noon or 6 p.m. The place is anywhere that serves good 'cue.
CH=B...
If this turns out good I'll tell you what I did.
As it stand right now I'm the one needing brisket tips.
I wonder if Jay G (president of the Meo Stansbury Fan Club) is watching the Starkvegans take on the Infidels.
In other news, AU has about 30 bigtime 2011 recruits in town today. I love these guys.
Name That Player was fun.
I would be at Vandy today, but testing for the software launch got pushed from last weekend to this weekend.
Something tells me that I will be glad I did not go.
Phred, I think there is also at least one 2010 recruit..D. Robinson
FRANKIE!
i'm getting tired just watching the pace of this game
lett!
Auburn successfully making the game ugly. Fundamentals vs. Vandy is a losing proposition. They will out-fundamental you.
Make it a street fight.
Auburn in the half-court offense is ... uh ... not good.
yep need to keep it a quick pace or it could get ugly
I don't know how to do the link thingy.
This guy is in AU today. Watch the video. You ain't never seen nothin' like it never.
Well, once ... but that was a long time ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYZuUn6UUQU
phred-nice video, #34 is always good right?
Holy cow.
quick someone take a picture of the stat line we're shooting 100% from the line
Got confused. He's not at AU today. I sure hope he is soon though.
WTC is checking out till after signing day....is there a dead period with WTC and his mom? :)
Auburn Basketball...sigh.
bama just beat miss state
Phred -- that team went 6-5 in Class 4A.
Their defense must have been HORRIBLE.
That's too bad, because that kid can fly and levitate.
Lebo looks like he visits the tanning bed daily on my HD TV.
At least they look a little more like they can play basketball.
he must cause we havent seen the sun in auburn this year
I don't think Kenny Williams is in Auburn today ... unless you know something I don't.
This team looks like it is being coached so far.
I've decided I am not watching another Bama basketball game this year. They lose whenever I watch and seem to play well when I don't watch.
Very impressive list of 2011 recruits on campus today! Some serious players in town!
hope this isn't like the UT game and we play well in the first half and come out cold
FSJ- That is usually that way Auburn basketball is for me. We will see if that holds true today.
So is this SEC Network deal the best or what? I mean, you can find a lot of SEC games on. I love it.
It's raining 3's for Auburn right now.
the bread is rising. just realized Auburn/Vandy is on TV.
Eddie, I love it especially this basketball season, it frees up FSN and others to carry more womens games too, which was nice when they upset LSU
Auburn Basketball: Dropping bombs on the Vandy Commodorks.
I love it!!!!!!
alright folks, I'm off to work where hopefully I'll get to finish watching this game, maybe they'll get a winning streak going
The SEC network tends to have a sucky picture. I'll take more games over fewer with a better picture though.
Salmon are carnivorous. They just said so on the radio.
Anyone ever been to Vandy's basketball arena? It is the weirdest setup I've ever seen on tv, but I've never been their live.
I love Memorial Gym.
It feels like a stage you'd see at the opera. Everyone needs to go at least once. Nothing else like it anywhere.
Getting sloppy here at the end of the half.
Thanks for the insight Jay G. Might need to find a reason to attend.
Jay,
I went a few years ago when Vot and that class were freshman.
Auburn was lucky to score 50 points in that game, but Memorial Gym was a wonderful place to watch a game.
I grew up in Nashville, I love this arena,
It's a great place to see a game.
These Bud Light "Too LIght..Too Heavy" commercials are great. Just saw the one with guy throwing pebbles to "Amy's" window and then took a wrecking ball to "Amy's" window. They are great.
Auburn/Vandy not on here in Chattanooga, we get Ole Miss/LSU on the SEC network.
I'm out for the weekend Hotties, hope the men pull it off.
Ok, I'm also super excited for the Olympics, way more than the Superbowl. Watching freestyle skiing right now and it's awesome.
Jay G - I was wrong about that. I misread what I was misreading. But somebody please send the link to Gus. He needs to see that!
I think Auburn played a pretty good half. They had some movement on offense (usually don't), hit free throws (usually don't) and rebounded (usually don't).
Well...this looks familiar.
I think Auburn is trying to see how fast it can give up a 13 point lead. Good lord.
I wish Lebo would yell at the refs and players who make mistakes. Not all the time but sometimes you have to in order to get a spark. All he does is make stupid little faces.
Well, this game is almost over with. Lebo is only able to play one good half of basketball a game. It's pathetic.
Once again, the men have blown a nice lead...
Well, so much for using part of my tax return (which isn't much to begin with) to get a mini-laptop so I can keep up with the Hotties while watching tv. Buddy has to have surgery to remove bladder stones - this will be his 2nd one.
And finally...the lead is blown. I hate LEBO!!!!
Eddie, I agree...pathetic.
Auburn has committed 7 fouls to Vandy's two in the 2nd half???? Most of which happen to be on our 2 big guys who guard olgilvy.
That guy gets too many calls.
Luv- Best of luck with Buddy's surgery. Sucks to have to spend money that way.
I thought I read on here that Auburn may give Lebo two more years. I just don't see how they can.
Eddie, it really does. The vet bill yesterday was $311. That, of course, had to be put on the credit card. It may be my own fault, though. He was supposed to be on a special diet after the 1st surgery, but the food was around $17 for a 5lb bag.
Great. Technical difficulties...I guess Auburn's play is so bad is tearing up the live feed.
Anybody else having technical difficulties? I've been having them the whole game. The HD just went out. Fortunately, the SD is still up and running.
LOL I thought the same thing, Eddie!
Luv- Yeah, i've go a screen saying "Technical Difficulties...please stand by."
You don't have an SD channel? Although, you many not want to watch. I can't watch 'cause I'm upstairs at the puter, but I can hear it.
Great, they have now put the Steve Harvey Show in place of the basketball game. This blows.
It's now 54-61
Luv- it's the same on both SD and HD. They have pulled the plug on AU Basketball game in Atlanta.
The team seems to be having a ton of technical difficulties, as in technically, THEY CAN'T SHOOT.
Luv - $60+ for a 20lb bag.
Thanks for the update Luv...I'll maintain this...LEBO NEEDS TO BE FIRED!
I've got Frasier, now.
Cold shooting and both bigs with 4 fouls = 31-13 run for Vandy in the 2nd half.
LOL, stupup!
Norm, you must speak from experience. Yeah, the 20lb they have now is $67. I told them I'd have to wait on that.
Well...good news..I've stopped watching Auburn too..Apparently I'm bad luck for them too.
$3/pound? That dog eats better than I do on some days.
With that state-of-the-art colliseum opening up, they HAVE to get rid of him.
PF, like I said, he's not eating that. He's been eating Beneful.
Now wifey is making me watch figure skating. Good grief, this last 30 minutes has gone down in flames as far as entertainment value.
FSJ, maybe they'll come back now? DOUBT IT!
This was a complete repeat of the Tennessee game and a reversal of the Kentucky game, just not as bad.
60-63
anyone else having issues with the game? My station went out and now I have no idea how bad we are getting beat.
I gotta question for you guys...
Did Charles Davis play football or basketball?
Wow, hell is freezing over, 4 FTs in a row. 63-60 Vandy
Luv,
I think he was Safety at TN if I am not mistaken.
65-60 Vandy 6min and change.
Vandy already in the double bonus.
This comment has been removed by the author.
OMG Sullivan just jumped up and went for the basket. He made it, but was called for an offensive foul.
Is it too late for us to hope some Vandy student hits Hargrove with a tennis ball?
4 fouls each on Frankie, Knox and Lett.
The 3 guys we cannot afford to have in foul troule......ARE IN FOUL TROUBLE.
Frankie has at least 2 offensive fouls today.
60-67
FInall...coverage back on.
67-60 Vandy.
BTW, I am at work, sucking up time and a half, and doing nothing because, well, I am not sure why.
stupup, then why is he calling basketball?
Eddie, you got coverage back in time to see that! OMG PATHETIC
From up 13 to down 11...yeah, that's real good coach. You the man.
Luv,
I have no idea. I said I thought he was a Safety at TN. I wouldn't be the house on that information.
67% in the second half? Do we just think this is one big game of horse?
Do we run the same play every time on offense? The high ball screen with the drive/kick out to the wing? It's like Vandy is just waiting for it.
Luv - 11+ years of experience paying dearly for our Golden and her special diet and medical issues. The $ we've spent on her over the years could've bought a pretty decent car. But, she's still the best dog I've ever had no matter the cost.
Seanzie, I really know nothing about bball, but so many times it seems to me they aren't really trying to set anything up.
stupup, I also thought he played football.
I think Charles Davis was an UT Football player. Feel fairly sure of that. Why is he doing basketball....why is Brad Daugherty doing Nascar?
Sorry Luv, my fault, no malice intended on my part.
I do have an idea why he is calling the game.....no real basketball announcer can stomach watching Auburn at times.
If it wasn't already offical it is now......LEBO IS FIRED.
Foul trouble, 0-7 from three point land in the 2nd half.
You cannot blow a big lead anymore efficently than this.
Norm, we have spent AT LEAST $2000 over the past 5 years. Not nearly as much as you, but when I don't have it, it's a lot. I love him, but after this surgery, he won't be having any more.
Wow...missed the layup. Why am I still watching?
D. Reed is terrible.
I could have done without seeing those 2 plays.
I just got off the phone with a couple football commitments: LaDarius Owens and Demetruce McNeal.
I like em both!
Owens was laughing because John Chavis is coming for an in-home visit this week. "I've told him over and over again that I'm 100% Auburn, but he's still telling me how good I'd be at LSU. I feel like I owe it to him to hear him out. He's worked really hard. I've been honest with him that I won't be going to LSU, but if he wants to come ... he's welcome."
stupup, I didn't take your answer that way. I was telling you that I thought he played football too and couldn't understand why he was calling basketball.
UGH...we are going to the game next Sat.
Lett has fouled out.
Thanks for sharing Jay G. I can't wait to see LO in pads at Auburn.
I have everyone beat on dogs costing money. I have two and one of them has epilepsy and the other has an enlarged heart. Both are on two different medications that I have to refill monthly. I'm one vet visit away from a Jerry's Telethon.
After I thanked Owens for talking with me, he added: ``I'm glad to help you do your job. Call me anytime."
I don't hear that very often.
Wow, LO sounds like a class act.
I don't know how people afford dogs with medical issues AND children.
Comedy moment: Ogilvy misses both free throws...Malone gets the rebound just to have it stolen from him and then he fouls the guy...guy hits two ensuing free throws.
He sure does, Freep
Luv,
I felt bad after reading over my last two posts directed at you. I try to write consicely and sometimes it doesn't sound right when I read them back.
I applogize for any confusion.
I just can't see any possible way Lebo can stay for another year. Go spend $2mil and get us a good coach. New facility+New Coach=Better recruiting and more wins.
stupup, I wasn't offended in any way! No apology necessary!
WOW, it has really come to this.....Larry Williams Jr. got to play.
I agree 100%, CH=B
Stu- Stop stalling...get to work :)!
Luv - I don't know about others but in my house we afford it by being boring and not having much of a life. But, we're pretty happy with ourselves.
Let's see, for entertainment tonight, I actually bought a big puzzle to do. Haven't done one in years, but my daughter is now into them, so we got her one and I got one. Should be fun.
Eddie,
I wish I could, but the developers are not developing fast enough. If they would hurry up I could test and we could all go home.
Stu- You are not a lab test subject are you? I mean, no chance you come out a bama fan after the developers develop. :)....I Kid!
Norm, we are boring too. The only time we do anything is during football season.
Side note: I got to thinking the other day. The thing I enjoy most about this blog is that I think everyone on here seems to realize there is another human being on the other side of the computer (or in wtc's case, two, counting his mom). It makes it nice to post and chat on here.
Alot of sites are not like that. For example: Bravesjournal.com (run by a bama fan) is not. It is nice to come in here, chat about a really bad basketball team or something else while I am stuck at work.
Big props to everyone for that.
Eddie,
No joke, I was raised a Bama fan (aka a walmatarian) and was diehard for 20 some odd years. Yodaddy334 can tell you stories.
However, I saw the light after attending Auburn. (It took awhile, cause Bama was ingrained deep.) Being an Auburn fan is awesome. It is truly great to be an Auburn Tiger.
Speaking of the Braves (notice I've refused to talk AU basketball?), do they play commercials on the radio in other markets outside of the ATL area about Cox's last year? I only listen to non-XM radio in the mornings during my 10 minute drive to the office but there's one playing here regularly that bugs the fool out of me. Joe Simpson says "ask anyone to give you a one word description of Bobby and they'll say 'he's the best'". Uhm, I know I only went to school in Alabama, but isn't that more than one word? It's the little things that bother me.
I agree Stu that's why after a short time lurking I decided to join. The 1st few times I saw this blog I didn't understand anything that was going on. It didn't take me long to see everyone was Au fans (FSJ excluded) and everyone was nice and polite to one another. It's nice to chat with like minded people who care so much for Auburn.
G also provides good info and other chip in as well.
Stu- Cool story about being an Auburn fan. As far as the blog, we are all here for the same reasons. Most lurk for awhile and then start posting. I've really really enjoyed this blog and it feels like family here.
Well, I'm off for a run. Check you guys later!
Norm,
I have not heard any braves commercials up here in Chattannooga, so I quess not. I like Joe Simpson as a color guy, but I don't think he is the bright bulb in the box.
I am going to mute the TV this year since Chip is doing all 162 games. Boog was the best we had since Ernie Johnson, but ESPN jacked him.
Yeah the developers finished something. I'm back to work.
I'll shut this thing down rather than have it become a flame war.
I have shut it down before. I'll do it again. I have nothing at stake financially, so this thing can go dark and I wouldn't be upset.
With that said, I hope it never comes to that again ... and we can stay rational and intelligent indefinitely!
Did I miss something?
What elicited this response from JayG?
IF you shut this place down down... we'll riot with pitchforks on your front lawn...
We've had a few testy moments here and there, but other than that folks here are pretty civil.
A big part of it is the Google ID requirement, and the byzantine signup process, both of which I heartily approve.
Most of it is due to the diligence of our proprietor/moderator.
JGT: he's good at his trade.
First, wtc goes on sabbatical and takes his mom with him. Now, Jay threatens to shut us down if we don't behave. Could it get any worse?!!
And, Jay, surely you would miss us if you shut down the blog? Are we just a job - don't we mean anything to you :)
Oh, BTW, I heartily recommend that everyone spend as much as is necessary to keep their pets healthy and help them lead long, happy lives.
My lovely spouse, Mrs Dr Freep, DVM, approves of this message.
Dang..I miss everything.
E-Bro/Faker, see stupup74's post from 3:01 pm.
JGT's response wasn't a warning, just an explanation for why HABOTN is, well, HABOTN.
Jay G.,
How long have you been blogging the HABOTN? I know I lurked a loooong time before I posted.
I've been around pre-Franklin days. When did you have to intervene and get nasty with us and shut it down??? Did I miss it???
I started posting when I realized this was a place where the Auburn Creed is really practiced.....with a little, well a lot of zeal, humor, thoughtfulness, ribbing, care, even an occasional take down when needed, but mostly a place where we actually care about each other and Auburn, even if some of us wouldn't know each of from Adam's housecat if we passed on the street.
Our commonality...is that a word(?) is we love Auburn, and I don't know how Faker fits in.....but somehow he does. Guess he keeps us real.
Faker fits in because he's a good guy, and he doesn't let his allegiances overcome that. . .most of the time, anyway. . . ;-]
Thanks Freep..
Reading comprehension and Bammer are two things that usually don't go together.
To clear the air: I'm not mad with anyone and I haven't seen anything even remotely flamy of late.
My mini rant was in response to CH=B's comment about this place being a respectful place.
If it strays from that state of grace, the nefarious element will be eliminated by any means necessary.
Missin: I think I started blogging in early 2006? Nobody at all commented for months and months.
Then Phred and Scottie and a few others got on board. The rest is history.
Back to our regularly scheduled program......LEBO MUST GO.
and I might add we still love Auburn when we suck ....at some things some of the time, .... just saying!
Lets just say G moves on one day to cover another program or sport. What will we all do?
I remember Jay disabling comments briefly at some point after i joined in October 2008.
techy peeps.... Seagate freeagent Go external hard drives? Yay or Nay?
I'm looking for a good, reliable, spacious but relatively cheap external hard drive to store music and photos on, in order to free up my laptop hard drive...Suggestions?
Looking at the Seagate Freeagent Go 320GB drive... for $79.00....thoughts?
I remember that too Faker, I thought he meant literally "shut it down" for a specified time...not just banhammering.
D Miller, Seagate is a good name brand. I would go for it. External hard drives are the way to go. Personally, I have 3 500GB external western digital myBook drives that have worked well for me. I basically have redundant backups on them and in the case of my computer turning to crap, I just hook up another and I am good to go. I would also recommend setting up something to regularly back up your internal hard drive data to the external drive. I have daily backups that run early in the morning.
