Malzahn likes Auburn

Hey everyone. My friend Charles Goldberg, he of immense Internet fame at The Gold Mine, is reporting that Gus Malzahn has told Louisiana Tech intermediaries that he's not interested in that job.

I didn't pay much attention to this after he reportedly was in Ruston, La., last weekend ... while I saw him at the AU-UK basketball game. That generally means he isn't interviewing.

Anyway, here's what Malzahn had to say:

``My family and I love Auburn and being part of the Auburn Family. Coach Chizik is an outstanding coach to work for and Auburn is a great place to be both professionally and personally. I’m excited about the future of this program and helping Auburn build on the foundation that Coach Chizik has established during the last 13 months.”

So that's one less rumor to worry about. Right?

  1. Who wouldn't like Auburn?!!

  2. I LOVE AUBURN TOO! 3 cheers for sweet productive offense!

    ReplyDelete
  3. It is nice to see Malzahn didn't really leave any wiggle room. He is definitely coming back.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I think he is a pretty straight shooter. I like what he said.

    ReplyDelete
  5. The Gus Bus is getting ready to ROLL!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  6. never envisioned him leaving for La Tech, but confirmation is good!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Huzah! One less rumor indeed.

Now let's wrap up this recruiting class and get crack-a-lackin' on the 2010 season.

  8. HECK YES this is one less thing to worry about.

Big day for us Auburn fans.

All the bammers can EAT IT (that includes my Dad who called me in near glee that Malzahn was reported leaving).

I was so peeved last night, but I remember he was a bammer and can't hear well.

    ReplyDelete
  9. bammers=walmartians

    ReplyDelete
  10. I wouldn't have blamed Gus if he had left for a high profile job like Tennessee, but LaTech would have been a poor career decision. Just win and he will be able to pick his spot.

    ReplyDelete
  11. 16 under par and none blabbing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. G, what are you thoughts and where we may or may not start the season rankings wise? If we do indeed finsih in the top 3/5 in recruiting and filled some holes I think we should start somewhere around 20.

    ReplyDelete
  13. "I don't care what you're doing, DO IT FULL SPEED! If you are opening a candy bar, RIP THE MOTHER F$%@ER OFF"

Just read that quote from Hugh Nall during his Auburn days... kinda like it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. This generally means that he generally plans on returning next season, but in general, if a head coaching job presented itself, he'd generally consider it because that's generally what assistant coaches do.

I'll feel better about it in a couple of weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hey I like Auburn. That Gus must be a swell guy.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Is jet crawfishing on his 3 yr guarantee?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I have it on good authority he'll be here at least 3 years.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Gus still has some play calling things he needs to work on as an OC before he is the main guy.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have it on good authority that this ice cream I"m eating is really good.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have it on good "authoriti" that I am going home.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Agreed RK.

I put some of that down to this being his first year and just as his players were in the middle of grasping a new offense, Gus was in the middle of finding a comfort level in play calling with the players he was working with.

The balance in that should be so much better next year.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I hope Hugh Nall doesn't preach that same message to his drivers now that he is a a trucking executives... although that would explain some things on the interstate.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Mmmm, crawfish.

    ReplyDelete
  24. CH=B, I'd say in the 20-25 range.

    ReplyDelete
  25. This is going to be something we hear alot of for awhile. Kinda funny how nobody came after the former staff like they will these guys. It would be nice to hold on to these guys through the 2011 season.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Alright i've got to get this straight now. After Malzahn comes out and says he's not leaving, Evan Woodbury(Bammer) says he will be a candidate at MTSU. Because MTSU is so much better than La Tech right? Jay, send Evan an e-mail telling him the think before he writes.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Don't let the bammer reporters get you riled up. The fact that everybody wants Malzahn is a good thing. Proves we have a guy who is good at what he does.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I got 3 under par on Digger's game on my first try - 7 silenced, 2 still blabbing. That was fun!

    ReplyDelete
  29. It's probably been posted but Jay G's great article yesterday in the MA is featured in the Bleacher Report on all the Auburn action. I got in my email today...just had to read it ....again!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Scott Choc you and some of those other guys are too good for me.I stll haven't hit par yet. I got to keep trying.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ok...one more "Caption this Pic" for the road....

    Coaches

    I'll go first....

    "Kiss it Bammers!"

    ReplyDelete
  32. Funny how many UAT fans were doggin' AU about hiring a high school coach for an OC and now every job that comes open, they want mention his name as a candidate.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Believe or not, I never really followed recruiting that much for AU. I just sort of kept up with it. AU would get a highly rated recruit and the fans were geeked about it. Most fans always talked about rankings did not matter. AU coaches will 'coach 'em up'. Now, two classes later, AU has turned away several highly rated athletes and seem to be on the verge of a top 3 class. (I think AU ends up #2). Amazing turn around.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Before the internet I didn't even know recruiting was going on. Now I read more and more about it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. FSJ
    AAAAHHHH
    CHOOO comes later

    ReplyDelete
  36. My best was 16 under with no blabbers.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Kind of off topic but here goes. At church yesterday morning we sang a hymn that I have sang many many times. For the first time one line stood out differently than before and made a lot of sense.

Sin had left a Crimson stain.
    Explains a lot.

    J/K, sort of

    ReplyDelete
  38. WTC-I was once one of those that thought rankings really didn't matter as long as you were in the top 25. I was wrong. You must be in the top 10 to sustain success. We are starting that path this year. I'm with you..top 3 fo sho. Latt, Whitaker, Jones and 3 others could push us to the top.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Not only rankings but those that qualify. We can't afford sign and place guys right now.

    ReplyDelete
  40. CHB-Even with thoe, I do nto think AU catches UF. they are loading up this year. Funny how that works. Their coach was looking to retire for a while and when he decides to come back, he grabs TOP athletes at all positions.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm announcing my college choice on HABOTN... and I'm doing it RIGHT NOW!

Come NSD, which I believe is the end of February for season ticket holders, I am going to sign with AUBURN!!!

I wonder how long before ITAT and the others report my commitment.

    ReplyDelete
  42. CHB you are too good for me. I may stop playing

    ReplyDelete
  43. digger here is a hint. Look for small landmarks and judge your timing off of those.

    ReplyDelete
  44. You forget, video games became popular during my younger years and adults my age make them a billion dollar industry.

    ReplyDelete
  45. WTC, I really believe it depends on how we finish and how UF finishes. We could finish up with at least 4 5*'s.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Chances are we don't catch them but it is possible. So I guess I'm with you...#2 and one of many victories against the walmartians.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anybody here play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on the PS3?
I just got it... I need some tips, I'm getting my arse handed to me online!

    ReplyDelete
  48. It would take something big to catch UF, and Texas is probably out of reach as well. I expect Lane to work some magic and USC to finish well as well. I think if we close on some of our big recruits we could pass Bama, which would make me a little happy.

No matter where we finish, me thinks this recruiting season is sign of good things to come.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Quit your job and devote your life to it D Miller, its your only hope.

    Did you run today?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anonymous7:38 PM

Back in the day, I ran 10K's. The advice to train up to a 3 mile per run point then go get professionally fitted was the best scenerio in the mid 90's and sounds like it still is.

I pronate and ASICs gels equipped for such were the best.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Dmiller- i've just gotten the game as well. I'll have to play with you online in the near future.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Wake... I did run... shouldn't have... I have a chest cold and my lungs are hating me right now

eddie... did you get Modern Warfare or MW2?
add me, my ID is dmiller1856

    ReplyDelete
  53. Dmiller- friend request sent. I have MW, same as you.

  54. You boys and your video games. We don't have a game system in the Norm household. The F4* will be 3 next week and I'm kind of thinking I might like to get one for him this year, possibly Christmas since we already have his birthday stuff squared away. So, if I do get one, what's a good kid friendly system to get? I'm kind of inclined to think Wii. Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  55. request accepted... I'll be back on getting my butt kicked after dinner...

    ReplyDelete
  56. Norm- just got a WIi and my 4 year old daughter is loving that. Everything else has way too many buttons.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Kid friendly... wife friendly... Wii...

    ReplyDelete
  58. Playing Mario Wii now.

    ReplyDelete
  59. the new Mario game? Or MarioKart?
    We have MarioKart...

    ReplyDelete
  60. New Mario game. It's a fun family game.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Thanks for the insight and validation of my thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Dan, I quote that hymn a lot.

Conecuh sausage on the grill, Alaga syrup and biscuits.

    Now that's a meal.

  63. Was Reed always a 5* on Scout? I see where he is now.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Scout moved Auburn to 5

    ReplyDelete
  65. Auburn University Jay Gogue ranked ninth in salary among survey of 185 public universities.

Gogue is paid $727,000-plus per year.

He believes in Auburn and loves it.

  67. I set out a few days ago to win 100 straight games of freecell (I cheat and back up when I get stuck). I have 99 straight wins and I'm stuck... I'm pretty pissed.

    ReplyDelete
  68. KAthy... he was bumped up today.. and Kenneth Carter was bumped to a 4* on Scout as well...

    ReplyDelete
  69. I never understood why Kenneth Carter was a 3* after the season he had.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Don't worry guys you can breath easy, I figured it out and made it to 100.

  72. D.Miller - LGG Bryron is Call of Duty all-star.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Wake isn't troubled by ethics or fairplay. He set a goal and achieved said goal. He's a real American Hero worthy of a jingle.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I didn't realize Reed was a 5 star on scouts. I do think that is something new. Scouts tends to be more conservative with their stars. Hopefully Reed will be a great one.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'll expect Jet to have composed this Jingle and posted it here shortly.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The REC quote was below the belt. I may have cheated, but at least I admitted I exist.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Holy Cow!

I just saw where Mobilz posted today!

    ReplyDelete
  78. THT... I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to take on any all-stars... but tell him to add me on the ps3, if he wants to...

  79. To the tune of "Your Cheatin' Heart"

    You're cheatin', Wake!
    At a card game!
    Sometimes you lose,
    But won't take blame.

    You'll hit undo
    So you're not through
    You're cheatin, Wake
    We'll tell on you.

    You win a game
    4 out every 5.
    But then you cheat
    To keep a streak alive.

    You think you're big,
    But you're just a runt.
    You're a cheating jerk,
    Like a Red Elephant.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Creepy Jet, I just listened to Hank Jr sing Your Cheatin Heart. Where are you hiding? The closet? Under my Bed? Surely you can't fit in one of my drawers... I better check to be safe.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Well that wasn't exactly my same train of thought but I salute the quality workmanship.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Wake, I can assure you I don't want to be in your drawers.

    ReplyDelete
  83. HAPPY MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I really should be more careful when I speak of drawers.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I've read in several places that Zac Etheridge will get his neck brace off at the end week. That's terrific news.

    ReplyDelete
  86. So the Fisher kid gets invited because his pops might be around every now and then...i like this strat

    ReplyDelete
  87. So when is MJT day? And do all the hotties get off work for it?

    ReplyDelete
  88. MJT - give me enough notice and I'll be sure not to work on your day.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Looks like Cutcliff took the Vols discipline with him to Duke, they just released 3 players for weapons violations. Since when do Duke players carry weapons?

    ReplyDelete
  90. This guy can't make up his mind!

USC commitment OL Eric Mack of Calhoun County told the BigSpur.com that he will not take an unofficial visit to Auburn this weekend and is totally firm with his USC commitment.

    ReplyDelete
  91. USC is a powder keg.

    Boom

    ReplyDelete
  92. You know, if Kathy wasn't so gosh darn young, I would say SHE was wtc's Mom.

Never misses a beat with recruiting.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Thanks for the compliment E-Bro! I am young at heart!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Kornblut again?

Has this guy got a single shred of credibility?

    ReplyDelete
  95. TheBigSpur.com Miller. Is that the same guy?

    ReplyDelete
  96. I think this guy definitely looks through crimson-colored glasses:

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/328440-looking-ahead-to-2010-in-the-sec-west-in-football-buy-hold-or-sell

I would have to say they did slightly better than expected, though, and by slightly I mean they won eight games instead of six or seven.

Auburn does lose many of the players who made winning eight games in 2009 possible.

Auburn has a good recruiting class coming that some experts rate as high as top 10

Auburn will still get pushed around in 2010.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Never mind, I read his bio. Definitely doesn't know what he is talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Yeah that is a pretty laughable article. Someone who is as obviously biased as him has no business trying to pass off his writing as legit journalism... even if it is only on the bleacher report.

I think he is someone who probably knows football, and his writing isn't too bad. It would probably be an ok read if he was writing about the Pac 10 where he could view things objectively.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Jay/HABOTN folks...

I'm an Atlanta resident and Falcons season ticket holder I saw the Keith Brooking thing getting national air time. He's not an overly popular figure around here.

    Just curious about your thoughts.

    side question:

    Jay vs. Conan...

    http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/6d1caacad1/jay-s-2004-announcement?rel=player

    Jay's video from 04.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Wow, the guy from the bleachreport is either really biased or really uniformed. Probably both.

We lose some key players, but not alot, We only had, what, like 12 seniors or something?

Also loved how he mentioned Auburn loses its 'best' tigh end.

Tommy Trott is an Auburn man and I appreciate all he's given to the program the last few years, but I don't think any Auburn fans are going to be lamenting his departure as a contributor to the football team.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Boy I'm glad Jay cleared that up years ago. Can you imagine what a mess it would be if Conan and him went to war over who should have the Tonight Show?

    ReplyDelete
  102. This is not Brookings first cry-baby episode, guess that's who he is.

    ReplyDelete
  103. I enjoyed www.peopleofbammer.com, and I love pointing out "typical" Bama fans to my brother-in-law who, like most, didn't go there. But I hate going to other college sites and reading Auburn fans who make stupid, biased comments. As my mother taught me, "Don't let anyone out-gentleman you."

    ReplyDelete
  104. I'm happy about our class, but I'm nervous about D linemen. I think that because so many of our recruits have gained *'s late in the recruiting process and after the HS all star games our coaches must be good at evaluating talent and getting sleepers.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Good morning, Hotties.

    Happy R. E. Lee Birthday!

I get to spend it in prison.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Good morning, Hotties!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Good Morning! THT, some refer to my place of business as a prison, but it's not that bad! Hope everyone has a wonderful day and remember, keep hate alive!

    ReplyDelete
  108. Please forgive me if I refuse to acknowledge or celebrate Robert E. Lee Day. I'm glad the south didn't win and I hate the mentality that some believe that day stands for. As far as Robert E. Lee, I enjoy his significance in the history of this country and admire the tough decisions he had to make. E-Bro is a civil war buff and has drug the family to many Civil War battlefields, so I understand that. I just hate the stigmatization and the way some use this previous holiday in the wrong context. I'm very glad that the Holiday was changed to honor MLK.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I'd bet MLK and REL were both righteous dudes.

    ReplyDelete
  110. ehyou- I have no doubts about that. I just see R.E. Lee day used in a bad way, just like the confederate flag. That flag has a lot of history too it, but it is now used in inappropriate ways. Sorry, just my 2 cents and I may get hammered for it.

    ReplyDelete
  111. You know I won't hammer you, Eddie! I completely agree!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Kathy- That post about buy or sell was ridiculously biased. The dude sleeps in bama underwear and a wife beater. Arkansas..a buy? Really? They are doing so well in recruiting. Anyways, anyone can post on bleacherreport, so that is the kind of trash you will find.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Thanks Luv...glad I'm not the only one.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I understand exactly where you're coming from. Both of those guys are used in ways today that would appall them if they were around to see.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I hate the Saints. I hope they get smoked this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I can't believe there was controversy over whether to make MLKjr's birthday a national holiday.

    ReplyDelete
  117. ehyou, why have you developed this hatred toward the Saints?

    ReplyDelete
  118. 1. As a Falcons fan, they're my main rival.
    2. I got sick of hearing "this team means so much to this city" after Katrina. They're still saying it.
    3. New Orleans is a nasty city. Been there twice and felt dirty the whole time.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I didn't realize Cam Newton was 6-6/247. What a hoss!

    ReplyDelete
  120. Ehyou- I hate Favre, and I hope he gets smacked next week.

    ReplyDelete
  121. ehyou, very good points!

    ReplyDelete
  122. I don't hate Favre, but like I said this weekend, I am so over him. So, therefore, I will rooting for the Saints.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Tommy Trott - the best Auburn pass catching tight end since Lorenzo Diamond ...

    ReplyDelete
  124. That's not really fair API.....to Mr. Diamond.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I love that Fisher's kid will be attending Auburn. That's got to be some sort of stamp of approval for the AU staff, to pay for his kid to play football at AU.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Jet Streams ...

    1. Favre, while undoubtedly a talented player, is a self-indulgent jerk. I shall not pull for him.

    2. Lane Kiffin probably has recurring yeast infections.

    3. Take it easy on Gump native Trott (even if he is a TPS guy). Remember, he was coached by Knox for three years.

    4. The Kansas State hoops coach looks like he's gonna kill somebody during a game. He also must be a devoted son because he kept referring to his "mother" during the game.

    5. I don't care about Jay. I don't care about Conan. I don't care about Dave. Go away.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Jet- You need to complete your Top 10 List.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Chan Gailey is the new Coach of the Buffalo Bills. That's good news, since Auburn doesn't play them. How that idiot had our number twice pisses me off, but hey, it was just pre-season, so why should I be upset?

    ReplyDelete
  129. Awesome move by the Bills...fire one unsuccessful head coach for another...that's how you win in The League.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Conan's hair is one of the scariest things I've ever seen.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yeah, those pre-season losses to GT didn't hurt us as they were pre-season, right? We still went on to win all of our SEC games after that, right?

    ReplyDelete
  132. So I am hearng that Ole MIss can only sign 22 this year due to their API that Nutt inherited.

    Interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  133. WTC- You sure it has nothing to do with the 36 he signed last year? :)

    ReplyDelete
  134. As for Malzahn's statement, I concur with Jet's response to it.

Off topic...the other night (and last night) I was watching the UConn women's basketball team. They showed an interview with Auriemma and obviously he and Saban are from the same mold. He said many of the same the same things that Saban has said regarding streaks and championships.

    ReplyDelete
  135. As an Auburn Fan in Georgia, we have a 2 game losing streak to GT and a 4 game losing streak to Georgia. We have to change one of those this season.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Eddie, I, too enjoyed Jet's list and think he should add to it.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Luv- I would say you are dead on about that assessment. The guy is all business. My old roommate and E-Bro's for a short time, used to be the head trainer at UCONN Men's Basketball team and he said that Auriemma was serious all the time and Calhoun was almost the opposite. My old roommate ended up with a nice Championship Ring while there, but always said that Women's basketball was bigger than Men's and a much tougher ticket.

    ReplyDelete
  138. And when he sees that you are good player, he is extremely tough on you. They were talking about Maya Moore and the fact that she wanted to leave because he is so tough. Her mom wouldn't let her because she went to UConn to become a great player and felt that she wouldn't without Auriemma.

    ReplyDelete
  139. It's amazing the success that Summit and Auriemma have had and yet they are completely different coaches in their style and demeanor.

Speaking of old coaches, I like Nell Fortner, but I miss Joe Ciampi. Do you think we could hire Joe to coach the men?

    ReplyDelete
  140. Eddie,

We have a few streaks I'd like to see end very soon.

4 in a row to UGA
3 in a row to LSU
2 in a row to Arkansas
2 in a row to Alabama

Four teams on our regular schedule have winning streaks against us that have to stop.

    ReplyDelete
  141. This should be our football intro video this year:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2Xt2yHCgwI

    ReplyDelete
  142. Good morning Hotties.
If we are at 5 or better after signing day I will be happy. I do not beleieve there is much difference between No. 5 through No.1.
Happy Robert E. Lee Day It should still be a holiday.
Martin Luther King had a great cause and moved it forward tremendously.
But he had the morals of an alley tom cat.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Not to start a controversy, but what did Robert E. Lee do?

    ReplyDelete
  144. I realize he was a great General, but that constitutes having a national holiday named after him?

    ReplyDelete
  145. War's over. Sherman dropped the big one.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Robert E. Lee fought for what he thought at the time was a just cause, by the way which was not slavery, but the right of the southern states to conduct there business without the interference of the Fed. Government.
He had high morals and ideals a southern gentleman of the first order.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Lee's birthday is not a national holiday, but is in several Southern states. In most Southern states, it's been combined with the federal MLK Day.

I believe Virginia makes the Friday before MLK Day its Lee Day, giving each their own day.

That is an expensive proposition as it raises the costs of state government by one-half for mission criitical employees such as prison guards, Troopers, mental health, etc., which run 365 days a year. They earn time and a half on holidays.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I'm with Eddie. R.E. Lee Day is something taken out of context by many and meant as an affront to racial harmony. Is this really still an official holiday in some states?

Lee himself was against slavery, and in time tried to free all his slaves, though he did view slaves as sub-human.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Jet...the Kansas State b-ball coach is oh my god crazy. Guy freaks me out. Has crazy eyes galore. At the end of the game, he said they have another "crazy Big Twelve game" coming up on Saturday. I thought to myself, "Speaking of crazy..."

  150. Digger, I mean no respect, but there have been a lot of people throughout history who have fought for just causes. Should we declare holidays for all of them too?

    ReplyDelete
  151. I'm going to declare a holiday for myself...oh wait I already have one.

    ReplyDelete
  152. The Beastie Boys fought for their right to party, no day off work for them...yet

    ReplyDelete
  153. For some reason, I thought about you the other day and asked where you'd been, but I got no response.

    ReplyDelete
  154. thanks for noticing Luv, no one else cares.
I went to Hawaii for Christmas, which was awesome. Then work was crazy for a while. Now things are pretty normal again

  155. how many people were off work yesterday for lee or king day. I was not

    ReplyDelete
  156. Hawaii is awesome. I went there for a week during my senior year in high school. We stayed on the main island of Oahu. I have been wanting to go back ever since.

  157. Only people that work for banks or the government, bigdaddy.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Got to love a gov. job

    ReplyDelete
  159. I just found out today that I'm actually allowed to take a vacation. But I still have to work pretty much every holiday.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Coca-Cola was off yesterday. We're neither bank nor government.

    ReplyDelete
  161. We stayed in Oahu and Maui. Maui is the prettiest place I have ever been. I'd love to go back, but that trip ain't cheap

    ReplyDelete
  162. Seanzie, thanks for the correction! I thought it was just a government and bank - and school, forgot school- thing.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I have heard that about Maui. We lucked up. The trip was through my high school and we got the whole trip - airfare, two meals a day and all the things we did - for $650. Even though it was over 20 years ago, I still thought it was a good deal.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I think they just pick a day early in the year to give us off. The next company holiday is Memorial Day. That is a long way from today.

    ReplyDelete
  165. I've been to Maui and Oahu. More to do on Oahu, Maui is nicer...both aren't cheap.

The wife and I ran through about 1,200 bucks in a week. This does not include airfare nor lodging.

    ReplyDelete
  166. The farthest west I've ever been is Arkansas. It wasn't beautiful at all. Hawaii sounds much nicer.

    ReplyDelete
  167. We have a "Founder's Day", although we still have to work that day. Our next holiday is Easter. So I get to take Sunday off, just like every other Sunday this year.

    ReplyDelete
  168. LOL, mrtommyd!

BTW, how did you like The Intercontinental in Tampa?

    ReplyDelete
  169. WTC, People are saying that Mack isn't going to visit and it finished with recruting, but he hasn't said that to anyone connected to Auburn. I think he is just trying to shut up the USCe faithful. I think he is ours come signing day. Like I said yesterday we finish in the top 3 in recruiting and begin a series of wins of all kinds against the walmartians.

    ReplyDelete
  170. My employer was closed yesterday but I still worked over 6 hours throughout the day/night. Of course, I worked some over the weekend too. But I'm just dedicated like that. Well, that and hospitals go down if I don't pull off what I have to pull off.

I've been to The Big Island of Hawaii, Oahu and Kauai (too lazy to verify spelling). The whole trip was incredible but I don't feel a need to go back to The Big Island or Oahu. We will revisit Kauai possibly within the next 12 months.

  171. I'd like to go run down some ice dealers with my man Dogg. That would be sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Thornton says Auburn panicked and that turned him off. Yeah, right - Auburn will have a lousy recruiting year because we don't get him. When asked to define the "panic" it was that Auburn told him that we needed a decision now or we were going to move on. Yessir that's panic! lol

  173. Do I want to give holidays for all that have fought in just battles, not hardly, but to take one away from Robert E. Lee to honor Martin Luther King is wrong. As stated above Lee's was never a national holiday and it probably shouldn't have been
but why change the States holiday to a national holiday for King.
I hate the way history books have been modified over the years to suit the eggheads in education.

  174. I promise that is my last word on the this subject.
Go Chizik & Co finish BIG in recruiting.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Its nice to be in a position to tell someone you need an answer or you will move on.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I've been to the big island, Kauai, and Maui. Kauai is my fav - most natural. Maui was expensive and resort-oriented. Kaanapali is an affordable area of Maui, but the properties are older. I was at the big island on business - nuff said.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Never been to Maui or any of the i's but I have been to Jamaica and it was awesome. Plus it was all inclusive.

    ReplyDelete
  178. The Intercontinental, LUV, was wooooonderful. Wifey and I had a fantastic time there for that long weekend!! I hope your room was just as excellent as ours.

  183. Anonymous11:54 AM

Georgia state employees get a Confederate Memorial holiday. Those civil war dead folk are many generations old and only a few folks I know have any idea who or if any of their relatives died in that war. I say it is time to stop that holiday.

My Virginia ancestors go back to pre-civil war times. I know of land/monies lost because of that war, but I don't know names, who died or much of anything else that happened. I'm told that there is some cool stuff to be proud of, but I don't care. I didn't do any of that stuff and never knew anyone that even knew those ancestors. Those are just names on a family tree. I care about today and the ancestors I've known personally.

National Memorial Day is certainly worth honoring and I've known several that died for our country.
