Hey everyone. A fall full of nasty emails -- mostly from the "Midwest," we'll call it -- comes to its emotional conclusion today. The final AP poll has been released.
I'm not worried about the actual poll, which you can find here.
I just want to promote my own poll, which is here:
1. Alabama
2. Texas
3. Florida
4. Boise State
5. Ohio State
6. TCU
7. Iowa
8. Virginia Tech
9. Penn State
10. Nebraska
11. Oregon
12. BYU
13. Cincinnati
14. Georgia Tech
15. Utah
16. Pittsburgh
17. Wisconsin
18. Clemson
19. LSU
20. Miami Florida
21. Texas Tech
22. Ole Miss
23. Oklahoma
24. Auburn
25. Oregon State
SUBSTANCE!
ReplyDeleteNice work, Scottie!
ReplyDeletenear the top again
ReplyDeleteIowa at #7? They won the freaking Orange Bowl. Where is the love?
ReplyDelete#24. i can hang with that.
ReplyDeletethankfully i fell asleep & missed the 4th quarter last nite. i did it on purpose. i didn't want to see bama win. plus, if i had seen UT come back i would've gotten my hopes up just to have them dashed. stupid dead shoulder!
I forgot about leaving Texas at No. 2. It was late when I filed this bad boy.
ReplyDeleteSo, yeah, Texas at 2 ... with Colt McCoy.
i bet the HIBOTN is in an uprage now.
ReplyDeleteOMG Iowa at #7?!?!? Are you insane? How could you not have them in the top5?!?! JGT have you seriously lost your mind.
ReplyDeleteYeah okay the poll looks good and its nice to see our team in the top 25.
By the way if it can't be figured out that first part was sarcasm.
PF: It's AN OUTRAGE!
ReplyDeleteuprage, outrage. it's all good. or not if you're a corn fan.
ReplyDeleteI think you put Auburn about right. The rest of the writers missed it. But if you look no 8 win team made it in the AP Poll
ReplyDeleteI'm not one to hate on other people's votes, but what's the deal with Southern Cal?
ReplyDeleteWhy are they always 10-20% higher than they should be?
well, we beat 2 teams in the final top 25 and were 1 drive away from beating the national champion. not bad for a rebuilding year.
ReplyDeleteLove fest...been going on for a while
ReplyDeleteJay G,
ReplyDeleteI hope you stayed around for the Larry Eustacy (or however you spell his name) segment with Biff. It was nothing less than awesome. Tired, grouchy, and candid. And he laid out some burns on other coaches. Awesome.
I swear it was not a lie.
ReplyDeleteJGT I had to say something to let you know I was there.
scottie I went to sleep also and for the same reasons
ReplyDeletePF sorry I missed it guess I should have stayed for a while.
ReplyDelete#24, rah!
ReplyDeleteWe switched back from regular programing and watched UT's almost comeback last night. I'm glad for that young quarterback that he was able to accomplish some things. He was put in a terrible situation and lived through it. That had to build his confidence a bit.
I guess the outcome proved that once you're toast, it is very hard to un-toast.
Others receiving votes...Auburn 8.
ReplyDeleteWow, other folks aren't feeling the love.
And 2 of those were JGT's
ReplyDeleteIt's funny to see Auburn players tweeting their disgust with Colt McCoy.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know they respected the quarterback like that ...
i'm glad i only mentally tweeted my comments about McCoy. i would've gotten in trouble had they been broadcast. ggrrr.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the Auburn players saying Jay?
ReplyDeleteI haven't been keeping up. Was he not really hurt. No physical damage or pain? What gives here.
ReplyDeleteHey old Geezer really enjoyed the time we all had together in Tampa. Must say two great boys you have.
ReplyDeleteThey're ragging McCoy for not playing ... making references to a Navy captain. I'm guessing McCoy said something along those lines last week?
ReplyDeleteFannin said he took a worse hit from that same team and at least tried to play through it.
OK so they think he just back off and didn't even try.
ReplyDeleteThanks Digger. Same goes for me. Yea, I truly love those two younguns of mine.
ReplyDeleteI'm just gonna leave this here for everyone to enjoy: http://yfrog.com/119geih4mg
ReplyDeleteAnimated .gif of the BEST highlight of your 2009 BCS National Champion quarterback.
Its funny how players evaluate and critique each other whether on the same team or not.
ReplyDeleteUsually, they think that they can play harder, take harder hits, pass out harder hits and just don't understand why others can't match their output.
ReplyDeletehaha secondaid. nosepicker
ReplyDeleteThe nosepicking moment was the highlight of the game for me.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to make some (belated) adjustments to our HoF this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteWe'll begin RoF voting prior to Spring Football. Date still TBA.
Good deal looking forward to it. Will there be some ground rules.
ReplyDeleteYeah. The ground rules are ... don't question my judgment on promotions and demotions.
ReplyDeleteAs for Ring of Fire stuff ... that's voted on by the current RoF members. So I'm not accountable.
Well, I pushed for Barkley last time. Look where that got me. Dude is long gone.
I couldn't get the url to work secondaid. I must be doing something wrong.
ReplyDeletenone of us really know how the future will turn out.
ReplyDeleteWe are so fortunate to have Auburn University, the finest institution in the land.

ReplyDeleteNice avatar ehyou. Definitely my happy place.
ReplyDeletePF, that didn't work either
ReplyDeleteI wonder when my voice will come back?
ReplyDeleteoops...try this
ReplyDeleteJGT is there a limit on how many can go in. So many of the RoF Hotties aren't around any more so will that affect the out come in any way?
ReplyDeleteFSJ after the Outback Bowl my came back about Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteThanks PF. That one worked. Noticed that right after one of many terrible series he had. He sure has no presence in the pocket. His best game was definitely against Florida.
ReplyDeleteNo limit, Digger.
ReplyDeleteI think the 2010 class will be a big one.
Any recruiting news today?
ReplyDeleteehyou,
ReplyDeleteI love your avatar. I may have to steal it for something. I am going to my happy place today!!! I love Auburn.
PF, that McElroy highlight made my day! I haven't gone back and read the bazillion comments from last night, but I'm sure it was mentioned that up to 2/3 of the SEC could probably give TX a run for their money without McCoy.
ReplyDeleteGot the day off; got up this morning and turned the tv on Bloomberg - no chance of having to listen to anybody gush about bammer on there. Wrong!
ReplyDeleteHad to endure a 5 minute segment on the greatness of saban and uat.
Is there anywhere to go to escape?
I don't know, Jay. It looks like the R of F is where some posters go to die :)
ReplyDeleteRight here on the HABOTN, Coosa.
ReplyDeleteWell...2010 Auburn Football is here. Can't wait till signing day and then A-Day.
ReplyDeleteclass #2 is all still here...well, mostly. we're in-and-out sometimes.
ReplyDeleteLiking your ballot Jay. Auburn is right where they should be. WDE!
ReplyDeleteWhy are players "ragging on" McCoy? Apparently, he couldn't feel his arm and couldn't throw...
ReplyDeleteSo, Jay G, in your professional opinion, where do think Auburn will be ranked at the beginning of next season?
ReplyDeleteSo rumor is that False Start Ziemba is leaving along with one other player for the draft. My thoughts...really? Do we actually have someone else that is a jr or 3rd year players that is worth drafting?
ReplyDeleteMcCoy didn't move his arm at all while he was standing on the sideline. I found it strange that they put those shoulder pads back on under his jersey.
ReplyDeleteKathy, me too. When he came back out and still had them on, I said, "Why does he still have his shoulder pads on if he's not playing anymore?"
ReplyDeleteEddie, I wondered if Ziemba would leave. Who do you think the other players is?
ReplyDeleteEddie - That would surprise me if Ziemba leaves. Would he even get drafted? I can't imagine anyone else we have who could be anything more than a late round pick.
ReplyDeletecoosa, agreed.
ReplyDeleteScott, there's no escape even on the HABOTN; I had to look at Jay's top 25 and there was uat at the top. There is no escape.
ReplyDeleteBut a good final poll, Jay.
I fear that I am about to be demoted from my NN status on the HABOTN. I suspect going for days without posting will do that for you.
ReplyDeleteMercy, Jay, have mercy! Its already been a real bad week.
Luv ... not ranked.
ReplyDeleteNew quarterback, new tailback.
You're safe, coos.
ReplyDeleteHe had shoulder pads on for morale and strategic purposes only. To give the illusion he may or may not be coming back.
ReplyDeleteLobbying for induction may not be kosher, but nevertheless...
ReplyDeleteMy boy James in Bham would likely appreciate being involved with a new "Ring of Fire", since his first one involved an unclean woman, lingering rash, and months of self-doubt and shame.
I agree Jay. Auburn probably won't be ranked.
ReplyDelete...that, and he was begging his coach to let him play.
ReplyDeleteWell it's 11:00 and we still haven't heard from the heater tech. He probably partied too late last night and is still sleeping it off. Down in the single digits tonight. Thank goodness I have the gas fireplace and the upstairs unit is still working.
ReplyDeleteZiemba leaving would be surprising to me as it would with any other underclassmen. The only other players it could be would be Isom or Bynes, but I find that hard to believe.
ReplyDeleteSo if you can't feel your arm, how can you throw a football? I don't get the hate on McCoy.
ReplyDeleteESPN radio is just as bad as the terrible local options today...Pretty much all cousin humpers..all the time...
ReplyDeleteYou are indeed merciful, Jay. I know that deserve to be demoted; I'll do better in the future.
ReplyDeleteI hope Bynes doesn't leave. He sure put the lockdown on Ingram. He struggled at times with that crossing route, but the dude played every snap. Just think what he could do with another year and a little rest.
ReplyDeleteThere are some real idiots driving today. I stayed home. I have no need to go to work today and i'm watching all these idiots trying to drive on ice. Unreal. One camera guy was in one place for like 30 minutes and caught like 4 wrecks.
ReplyDeleteHe's from Texas, Michael! And ya know there's only two things ever come outta Texas!
ReplyDeleteI don't see any horns on him.
ReplyDeletei came in 2 hrs late b/c my driveway was ice. even with melting agent & a shovel i still had to try twice to make it up.
ReplyDeletei took out my neighbor's mailbox last nite b/c of ice too. fun times. :)
I could never hate on a McCoy.
ReplyDeleteThat game would have been much different if he had played. Too bad we all got robbed of seeing that.
COURNTEY TAYLOR.
ReplyDeleteTERRY
ReplyDeleteBEASLEY!
ReplyDeletescottie- be safe man. I'm hoping your neighbors mailbox was not a brick one.
ReplyDeletethanks eddie. nope. it was plastic with a wooden post. just got to dig it up & do the grunt work. he took it pretty well actually. he said he thought somebody hit a house b/c the 'pop' was so loud!
ReplyDeleteHow bout the part last night where Nick Saban said he's proud for the state of Alabama.
ReplyDeleteHuh?
Auburn's still in Alabama, right?
So you think he wants to share that title with us E-Bro? A title for the state means the entire state, right?
ReplyDeletemtd...no doubt.
ReplyDeleteE-Bro...
ReplyDeleteHe's proud of Auburn too....apparently.
I lost all interest in the game once McCoy was out - thus I didn't even make it to half time.
ReplyDeleteAh come on Faker. Don't go there.
ReplyDeleteFSJ, he hates Auburn. He said so on national TV last year!
ReplyDeleteFaker, Don't you recall Saban yelling at his players last year in the IB "Don't you know how much I hate those guys?" Btw, the feeling is quite mutual.
ReplyDeleteFaker, just enjoy your moment.
ReplyDeleteKathy..
ReplyDeleteI was just guessing that since he said he was proud of the state as E-Bro pointed out that he was proud of the entire state.
Can you hate something and be proud of it? I don't know...I'm not a hater. :-P
You said you were in November. Which is it Faker, hater or not?
ReplyDeleteWhere is J-Z? I need a good laugh. The McElroy nose-picking thing is starting to wear off a little.
ReplyDeletesaban-Not proud of Auburn
ReplyDeleteWhen Chiz wins his national championship, let's be sure he tells everyone how proud he is of the state of Alabama.
ReplyDeleteI hope Chiz has a chance to do just that E-Bro.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't expect him to be. It's a rivalry. I ran into so many of the insufferable "go SEC" communists yesterday that I didn't know what to do. There's plenty of ways to bash that joyless s.o.b; but he's a hell of a coach and I don't want to sound like I expect him to be "proud of" Auburn...
ReplyDeleteStrange how breaks seem to work for some teams. No other sweetheart team in the running for the game and then the QB plays only 5 snaps.
ReplyDeleteCould it be Satan on the sidelines and a few souls have been captured.
BTW, I am not a hater either, I am much more of a loather.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the saying?
ReplyDeleteStars fell on Alabama.
With just a tad of detester thrown in.
ReplyDeleteDoes Urban Meyer say he's proud for the state of Florida when he wins a NC.
ReplyDeleteDoes Pete Carroll says he's proud for the state of California?
Before, I've only not liked Saban b/c I'm legally obligated to (and the fact that when he smiles he looks like Jack Nicholson's Joker in Batman).
After that comment last night, though...
I can't wait to listen to Finebaum today......NOT.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that statement falls in the same category as "I always pull for Auburn except when they play Alabama" BS that the rednecks love to say. Its a crock and they know it.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to listen to F'baum for the next 9 months....
ReplyDeleteMy brother and and I had a series of texts last night from 8:28 - 8:33 CST discussing UAT's deal with the devil. I wonder how many of UAT's fans realize that their souls have been sold? I guess most of them probably wouldn't care.
ReplyDeleteI am never gonna listen to Fineblab, I have Jay G. Tate. Who could ask for anything more?
ReplyDeleteI work with 3 AU guys. They were all "pulling for the SEC".
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I have this Haven of Hatred where I can commune with like-minded folk.
I think Auburn is worth of a 20-25 spot...24 sounds about right.
ReplyDeleteWith that said, I don't think Clemson, GT, WVU, Ole Miss, Central Michigan, OK State, etc. are any better than AU, and all are above "us" in the poll.
Oh well, the only spot that matters right now to me is the #1 team in the polls, and where we are in recruiting. We close on these recruits, I like our chances vs. that team that resides at #1.
Lunch time, beef pot pie, yummy.
ReplyDeleteCam Newton Convoy!!!
ReplyDeleteWe about to go hunting Bahr.
We've Got a Big Ole Convoy...
Trying to find the positives...
ReplyDeleteFour SEC national championships in a row from three different teams.
How crazy is that?
Wish to hell it wouldn't have happened, but it has. Time to move on and get ready for 2010.
I appreciate your support, IV!
ReplyDeleteehyou, I find that hard to believe. Have you checked their Auburn credentials?
ReplyDeleteWe're under a freeze warning, but my thermometer outide say 69 degrees and I'm wearing shorts.
ReplyDeleteIt's a head-shaker dude. They act like it's no big deal that Bama won while there's a knife in my gut every time I think about it. Thank goodness for distilled spirits....come on 5:00!
ReplyDeleteThe last two Great Achievements in UAT football history:
ReplyDelete1981 -- Coach Bryant wins 315.
1992 -- UAT wins national title.
The years following were kind because we got our houses in order and moved with one purpose in the right direction.
The first effort was sustained for several years, the second faded quickly because Bowden -- literally -- was not big enough for the job.
History should serve as a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.
Jay,
ReplyDeleteSorry if this has been asked but ESPN is reporting that USF is firing their coach...Could Tubs be a candidate for that one?
FSJ ...
ReplyDeleteTubs is a much better fit at USF than Texas Tech. He's recruited the state of Florida for years.
I consider USF and UCF the real perfect fit schools for Tubs. USF is the lone BCS school in my mind where it makes sense for him to want to go and for them to want him.
plus, Tampa is warm, and he likes warm...
ReplyDeleteFaker...ESPN has already listed Tubs as be very interested in the job.
ReplyDeleteSo you're saying that Lee Ziemba might be leaving for the NFL early? He's jumping the gun? Premature, even? This is SHOCKING to me.
ReplyDeleteWhy wait for 5 o'clock ehyou? Or maybe just buy a clock that all the numbers are 5's - my old boss had one.
ReplyDeleteDoes Auburn still owe USF a return game in 2011 or 2012?
ReplyDeleteThis may have already been posted, but...
ReplyDeleteCam Newton video minus rap
This may have been covered already... but how much of a See You Next Tuesday moment was it when Lisa Salter asked Colt McCoy about how it felt to miss most of the game?
ReplyDeleteI hate sideline reporters. And Brent Musberger. I hate a lot of people right now.
I was kinda hoping Colt would just start crying and walk off...instead, he let me down and answered her question with more class and composure than Tebow ever could.
ReplyDeleteVintage Bammer MNC shirt...anybody notice anything?----->
ReplyDeleteI thought Colt showed a lot of class - my heart really hurt for him. Can't believe people are ragging on him about not playing. Don't they think if there was any way in the world he would have? When was the last time you tried to throw a pass without being able to feel your arm? And from the reports he was asking to play, it was all those around him who wouldn't let him.
ReplyDeleteSC,
ReplyDeleteOnly shows 6 NC?
I just listened to your segment from earlier Jay G...and how dare you wish upon me and E-Bro that UT Chattanooga hire Terry Bowden. We don't want that guy in our town.
ReplyDeletePF,
ReplyDeleteI don't think the USF game was a home and home series. I think it was just a one game deal.
I'm not a fan of Musberger either J-Z, His act is a little to corny for my taste.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jet, E-Bro, & Peter...
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think Tuberville is a perfect fit there.
j-z...I agree about the question....very see you next tuesday.
Great video SC.
ReplyDeleteFirst time really seeing him. Seems pretty accurate. Really impressed with his pocket presence in those situations.
Also dug the Explosions in the Sky music. I feel like that music should have been the soundtrack for Garrett Gilbert and Texas last night.
RK...Huesman seems to be doing just fine after year one, no?
ReplyDeleteE-Bro,
ReplyDeleteI think so, but he could have gone 0-11 and I'd still not want Terry Bowden darkening our great city.
RK...true dat. True dat.
ReplyDeleteWERK...
ReplyDeleteHow do you feel about Bill Curry residing in your fine city?
You got it, Cincy. That was obviously before Wayne Atcheson revised history. I wonder if AU could have gotten away with the same thing. I'm guessing not, as the Bammer media would have torn us apart.
ReplyDeleteBill Curry's a great man. He's welcome in the Noog anytime.
ReplyDeleteI thought Bill Curry was in Atlanta leading the Georgia State football team, who will beat Alabama late next season.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind Bill Curry at all. What was he 0-9 vs Auburn?
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I forgot he's at GA State now. He probably moved.
ReplyDeleteChoco Scottie... When can I expect my commemorative fantasy football MNC chocolate creation? Either that or you could send me cash...
ReplyDeleteFSJ - since you're one of only 3 reasonable UAT fans I come across with any regularity these days, I'll say kudoes on a job...done (J. Peterman). I don't expect to have to offer any sort of congratulatory statement to anyone else in the near future along these particular lines. All those other UAT fans I come across will still get my scorn and contempt.
ReplyDeleteGive the devil his due: Jimmy Sexton is good. The funeral home hasn't come to pick up the body from the house, and he's got Tuberville as one of three front-runners for the job.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the other candidates are:
-- a coach who has a domestic abuse issue in his past. That won't fly at USF considering the terms under which Leavitt is leaving.
-- the offensive coordinator of one of the most inept offenses in the nation.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteJay, You are welcome dude, I got your back.
ReplyDeleteHungover, tired and work are three words that just don't go together.
ReplyDeleteAnyone have a Goody's then can send me?
j-z, that was a real championship that you won, unlike Bammer's asterisked one from last night (although you probably had a deal made at the crossroads, too). If you go look on your profile on the fantasy football site, you'll see your fabulous golden trophy. You will need to check with the commissioner to see about any financial awards (including paying me to create anything in chocolate). Just tell him I will not accept that Monopoly money he had at the OB Bowl.
ReplyDeleteApparently I should have participated in the wager bowl pick em... Can I get a high five or something from somebody for winning the bowl pick em?
ReplyDelete*High 5 for Wake*
ReplyDeleteSeanzie, i feel ya. i need some too.
ReplyDeleteSean, here you go---->
ReplyDeleteYou can have one too, Scottie.
ReplyDeleteNice poll JG, however I'd move Florida/Bosie up to 2/3 respectively and drop TX to 4th.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sentiment, Scott.
ReplyDeleteHey, come see me. I buy Goodys by the caseload. Great stuff!
ReplyDeleteNo problem, I've got a whole pack of 'em. J-Z, don't get excited. The store I got those at didn't have the Hollywood Henderson commemorative packs.
ReplyDeleteIt's time for us to switch banks. Compass just came out with a new checkcard for bama. The press release states: "In the Nick of Time." How LAME!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLuv,
ReplyDeleteYou can't get away from them, bammers are everywhere!
Either Goody's or BC used to make a fantastic allergy powder, but it had whatever that ingredient was that the FDA banned in the early 2000's, so they quit making it.
ReplyDeleteKudos to not dropping Texas. Too often a team looses a close name to a higher ranked opponent and falls like a rock.
ReplyDeleteSo, Bud's Best and Compass need to be boycotted. Who else? It may be impossbile. I really and truly may have to move. It makes me sick how INCREDIBLY biased this state is. Um...I don't think it's good business practice to alienate ANY market.
ReplyDeleteLuv, they're trying to capitalize on the Tah'd success...and it will work, it will be all the rage for about 2 months and it will die down. If not I am moving to Colorado.
ReplyDeleteDid Tar Heel and 2.0 ever say I could have her room in her absence?
ReplyDeleteBud's Best will be tough to boycott. In addition to their own products, they make stuff for Keebler and other big companies. It's still worth a try, though!
ReplyDeleteOne Goody's or BC powder is too many.
ReplyDeleteDid you see the commercial, Scott? It won't be hard for me.
ReplyDeleteChocoScott...
ReplyDeleteYou ever done any hand modeling?
I'm just saying it will be hard to know whether you're boycotting them or not since they make stuff for other companies. I'm sure the commercial was horrible. I saw one from some other company that ticked me off at the time, but now I can't remember who it was.
ReplyDeleteehyou, I took that one out of the oven mitt just to help out Sean and Scottie B.
ReplyDeleteWatch out for irons. Just sayin'.
ReplyDeleteI saw a US Postal Service jeep delivering mail in West Atlanta today flying a bammer flag! I didn't get the truck number but I'm pissed. Years ago I saw a State Trooper car in the Gump with a bammer bumper sticker, got the car number and complained. They said they'd handle it.
ReplyDeleteAPI, every time I see a company van or truck flying a bama flag or with a bama magnet, I get pissed.
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is you get pissed alot.
ReplyDeleteJust feel sorry for them. They don't know any better. We are the smart and fortunate one's! They don't know what they are missing. Great to be an Auburn Tiger!!!
ReplyDeleteI just went to grab a burger and only saw 2 Bammer flags the whole time. That's hard to do on any day in Bammerham.
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking of my 8 year old son dealing with the mini-bammers at school today. I hope he's hanging in there. I have lots of not-so-fond memories of dealing with them back in the 70's.
Michael had better be kidding.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteJet,
ReplyDeleteCould you help get a petition started in the legislature to allow Lee County and any other counties around Lee that would like to join to secede from the state of Alabama, thus creating the 51st state of the nation. You could live anywhere you would like but pay your taxes to the State of Auburn.
ESPN reporting that Pete Carroll is very interested in the Seahawks job..
ReplyDeleteAnybody wonder if he's thinking of getting out before the Bush/McKnight stuff blows up?
When I told my 7 yr old this morning that Bama had won, she was crestfallen. She said "Oh no, daddy, what are we gonna do?"
ReplyDeleteJim Mora, Jr. is evidence that an effective HC can't try to be everyone's best friend.
ReplyDeletePaging Dr. Doofenshmirtz...
ReplyDeleteI don't think ncaa would do anything. They are just a commercial organization now.
ReplyDeleteMallett bypasses draft

Ole Miss bringing up the rear in the west next year?
ReplyDeleteHeave Ho
ReplyDeleteInteresting Kathy,
ReplyDeleteI think if he had a successful bowl game,
he may have come out.
This just means that Alabama will loose in Fayetteville.
