OT: Ashley Judd is serious about her Cats

Hey everyone. I was reading through my hero John Clay's excellent blog this morning when I stumbled upon this video of Ashley Judd, UK graduate, talking about her team.

I'm struck by a few things.

a.) You know what No. 1 is. She's talented.

b.) She knows basketball.

c.) She (allegedly) reads message boards.

d.) Every school needs someone like this.

If you're as enthusiastic about Ms. Judd as I am, please watch this video and enjoy: Video: Ashley Judd talks about her Cats

(We're going to the 5 p.m. mass today, hence a rare Sunday morning post.)

  3. I'm not saying I wouldn't stalk her if push came to shove.

    But it won't so I won't.

    Who is Auburn's?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Ravens vs Patriots, who you got?

    ReplyDelete
  6. THT, AU has Barkley!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I don't like Brady, so I have to pull for the Ravens.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Did anyone watch Barkley on SNL last night? It seemed to me the monologue and every skit were about racism. I finally turned it off. I found it incredibly unfunny.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I taped it Cincy, but I haven't watched it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  10. When we want to watch SNL skits, we put in the DVDs of the first season. Now those were some funny skits!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'd rather watch Ashley Judd than Chuck Barkley, no offense.

Plus, Ashley Judd doesn't rip the UK administration after being misinformed that Jeff Lebo was Auburn's first choice in the 2004 coaching search.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ravens already up 14-0.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Love the old SNL skits.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Love me some Ashley Judd.

I posted this in the last thread.

  15. I would rather watched Ashley Judd than Charles Barkley. He's a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  16. werk, those pics were hilarious.

  17. Kathy,
It's rare that something can mae me want to barf my ice cream. You almost succeeded with thatt comment.

Cincy - I did not watch. I think I turned to some old movie.

    ReplyDelete
  18. So I had a friend of mine, a fellow writer, tell me last night: "Saban just made Chizik's job a lot tougher."

And, you know, I don't agree with that. At all.

I think I'll write a column about that for Monday's newspaper.

    ReplyDelete
  19. JGT,
Don't know if you saw my comments on the last thread, but I did enjoy your column today on AU recruiting.

    ReplyDelete
  20. hi JGT. I thought for sure you'd be attending Mass in Lubbock this afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I watched SNL last night... Barkley was good, funny. I thought the skits did lean heavily towards the racism issue... but I thought it came off more like Barkley was making fun of himself pushing the racism issue more than anything

With that said, I'd rather watch Ashley Judd any day... I have always been a fan of her talent.

  22. Thanks for reading, Cincy!

    ReplyDelete
  23. D.Miller,
Maybe. I guess I was just sensitive to it because he has been on the talk shows around bham spewing his Turner Gill nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yep, I enjoyed your article too JGT. Adams is a big boy, but AU couldn't wait on him to get his grades in order. If he was having difficulty in JC, how would he do at Auburn?

    ReplyDelete

  26. Thanks also to you, Kathy!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Loved the Ashley video. She seems to really know what is going on during the game, not just sitting ther being a pretty face which she is.
    Very talented young lady too.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Gotta give congrats to wake for winning the Bowl Pick'em.

    I came in second.

I must sharpen my skills in time for the NCAA Tournament Pickem.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Do you all think Alabama's title affects Auburn at all?

    Am I crazy?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Baltimore scores again, 21-0

  31. If you didn't watch the final episode of "Auburn Everyday" you should. Go the the following link. You don't have to sign in. Just click the free events button and then click watch on the 1st video. http://all-access.cbssports.com/player.html?code=aub&media=136549

  32. If anything JGT, it makes the coaches and players more determined!

    ReplyDelete
  33. At the end Chizik says that some guys on the team didn't even know the fight song. He is making it a point to turn these young men into real Auburn men not just football players. I like this man more and more everytime I hear him speak.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The walmartians winning the MNC doesn't hurt us at all. If anything it will make us stronger. Think about it, a top 5 recruiting class when your biggest rival is doing what they are. These coaches aren't afraid of anything, and I don't think anything is going to stop them from doing great things.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Ravens up 24-0. Brady seems to be throwing this one away, literally!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Conan had a comment about the championship game on friday:

    ReplyDelete
  37. No to the first one.

Jury still out on the second one.

The only affect I could see is everyone coaches and players will work harder and want to reach the same goal as Bama or any other team "BCS champions".

    ReplyDelete
  38. THanks CH=B. I forgot to go watch the last one.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm watching that "Every Day ..." episode.

Love it when Ben Tate scored against Ole Miss. He dropped the ball on the ground afterward. Then Darvin Adams picked up the ball and gave it to the ref with a quickness.

I have no idea why Darvin is so meticulous about this. I've asked him about it ... and he just laughs.

    ReplyDelete
  40. G-He is meticulous because I think Chizik demands it. Are you liking the episode so far? Just wait till the end. You will some things that make you say wow how could that be. And then you will see what kind of Auburn Man Chizik really is. If he does as I think he will then he will be at Auburn for a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Jay-I wouldn't see how any sane person could think UA winning the championship made Chizik's job harder. They should take off the crimson colored glasses and think for themselves.
Reasonable folks can admit that UA had a very good team. Congrats to them, but to think AU has it any tougher is foolish. DO they think UAis just going to give playing because UA won?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Kathy-It's worth the 30 minutes to watch it. I hope they do this again next year. Maybe on another network since I don't get CSS on DirectTv.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Ziemba returning for his senior year.

    ReplyDelete
  44. CH=B,
All year they played it on ABC 33 at 10:30 am on Saturdays. For some reason they didn't show this last episode.

I loved it. I do hope they do this again next season.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Stupid of Baltimore to not challenge that last play.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Good to hear about Zeimba he seemed to cut down on the false starts at the end of the season and didn't get beat too many times.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think the Ziemba stuff was bogus anyway. No way he was valued all that highly by NFL scouts.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't know if it made Chizik's job harder..

But I'd be curious as to how it would make it easier.

Auburn already had the "early playing time" thing going for them.

Like Saban said, If I were an elite prospect and somebody told me that I'd never get on the field at XYZ University...that would tick me off...and cause me to want to prove them wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  49. walmartian alert!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Auburn won't have the "come here and play ... guaranteed" offer going much longer.

If they get 23-25 in school prior to two-a-days, things will be changing. There won't be any free rides.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Where did everyone go?

    ReplyDelete
  52. Watching the Ravens?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Talk to you guys later. Wish me luck I am going to the place where walmartians spawn.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Can you pick up some denture adhesive for me?

    Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  55. FSJ,
    You are too funny.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I think not challenging that turnover on the punt is really costing Baltimore. It seemed to totally change the dynamic of the game. And I think it would definitely have been overturned. He didn't have the ball after he hit the ground.

    ReplyDelete
  57. FSJ,
How is Abbie? Does this cold weather cause her more difficulty?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Heck yeah bama winning the BCS title made Chizik's job tougher. When he goes recruiting around the state and has to pass by a walmart, his commute time is now an extra 15 minutes longer.

    ReplyDelete
  59. cincy,

Thanks for asking. Abbie is doing fine. She had a sinus surgery a month or so ago. One of the side effects of CF is that often times kids develop polyps in their sinuses. In fact that's what caused her ENT to refer her to be tested for CF.

The cold weather does present some challenges because you have to be on guard for colds and things like that. She's such a tough little girl and takes all of her medicines & therapies like a big girl.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hey Jay, thanks for the link.

    ReplyDelete
  61. That's a lot for a little girl (and her parents) to handle. We still pray for her to stay healthy and that they will find a cure SOON.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Truly my pleasure, John.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thank you cincy..

    I appreciate it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Ashley Judd = The Best Kind of Substance

Whether UAT wins or loses, it has no bearing on my expectations for Auburn. It also has no bearing on the difficulty of task for Auburn.

Anyone who believes otherwise has been sucked into a Turd-centric universe and is need of rescue.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Amen Brother Jet.

  66. OGOchoCinco

Are there any local flag football games going on I got to stay active playing something

    ReplyDelete
  67. Jay..

You got me hooked on OchoCinco..

    He's a trip.

    ReplyDelete
  68. And I have got to get out of here and go walk for an hour. Got to bundle up also. Later Jay and HOTTIES>

    ReplyDelete
  69. I love Ochocinco.

Jay, I know there are some indoor soccer teams in Montgomery. My son comes over and plays once or twice a week.

    ReplyDelete
  70. OchoCinco is my new-media hero.

He does an awesome job of connecting with the peeps. It's obvious ... he's a good dude.

    ReplyDelete
  71. HABOTN is educational. I now know who Ashley Judd is. I feel blessed.

    ReplyDelete
  72. The only indoor soccer I see is the team I help coach with the REAL coach, Anderson Brooms.

Our team this season is sick.

We have two awesome girls up front, Korean twins in midfield, lots of grinder-type boys and two good goalies.

    I'm feeling a championship.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Steve, get real.

If you're serious, you need to move to the mainland from Belize. Now.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Ochocinco is someone who I only recently learned about. Before that, I thought Ochocinco was a game you play in Las Vegas.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Jay, luckily enough I have established my own small country here in Columbia. Sure it is small, a two bedroom apartment, but it does keep me isolated from the world. I like to refer to it as the Hermitage.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jay, are you interested in playing? If so, I can have Tylerson email you the info. This is my baby, not sure when he got so grown!

    ReplyDelete
  77. And there does seem to be a noticeable difference between Ashley and Wynonna.

    ReplyDelete
  82. And channel 646 on Direct TV.

KeKe Carrier is turning into a nice player.

    ReplyDelete
  83. And channel 848 on Comcast north of ATL.

Cincy - you can flip without me. Though, as I told CHB last night, if a flip is imminent and I'm online then I'm vying for it. If for no other reason than to deny FSJ the honor.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Not bad for a first half.

    ReplyDelete
  85. FSJ - thanks for the heads up on the presser, but I guess I'm a little too late. Plus ESPN News is only on the basement TV and that presser just ain't gonna get me down there.

    ReplyDelete
  86. THT,
I missed it, too. I'm sure we will get the highlights.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Can we officially declare the Patriots "yesterday's news?"

    ReplyDelete
  88. Sorry guys.

    They cut away pretty quick..

All I got out of it was that he'd try to make chicken salad out of chicken ........

And that they'd keep the same offense but combine it with and SEC defense.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I miss Bum Phillips.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Bum was a trip.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Great Bum quote ... when asked why he took his wife on all road trips.

"She's too ugly to kiss goodbye."

    ReplyDelete
  92. Ziemba's scouting file did have one positive note ...

"Extremely effective on first and 15."

    ReplyDelete
  93. Alli Smalley is not helping defensively right now. At all.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Tuberville keeping the Texas Tech offense is interesting. I don't think he would have got the job unless he agreed to that, but will CTT be able to stick with that wide open style? Inquiring minds want to know.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Auburn doesn't have that go-to player like Dewanna anymore.

KeKe is helpful, sure, but she's not consistent enough to be a go-to.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Is Alli sick? or just not interested in defense?

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm fine with him making chicken salad out of chicken.

As long as it does not involve BBQ'ing the chicken.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Defense is not Alli's bag, so to speak.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Edgar Allen Poes beating Patriots? Won't the madness ever end?

    ReplyDelete
  100. Aero ...

    Nevermind.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Darvin Adams is at the top of my favorite player list on offense. I have several on defense (AC, McFadden, Bynes, Stevens, Bates! How could you not be excited about this team and coaching staff after watching Auburn Everyday? I hope they continue that format next year.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Everybody picked the Packers.

    ReplyDelete
  103. LSU 59, Auburn 56 with :14 remaining.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Smalley hit a 3 with :03 remaining. Tie game.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Overtime in Baton Rouge.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Not bad against the #11 team in the country. I didn't realize how young we were.

    ReplyDelete
  107. This is a really good game.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Make some free throws.

    ReplyDelete

Shoot some foul shots to win?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Auburn up 2 with :11.5 remaining.

    ReplyDelete
  111. Well done to Auburn's young ladies.

    ReplyDelete

LSU missed the easy layup to tie ...AU wins.

    ReplyDelete

  117. http://blogs.ajc.com/uga-sports-blog/2010/01/09/uga-no-announcement-imminent-on-dc/

Saban seemed to be sending a pointed message to Smart on Friday when he said at a news conference that assistant coaches should not make lateral career moves.

“I’m not pleased when guys make lateral moves because it’s a little bit human nature to think, like my dad used to say, the grass is always greener on top of the septic tank,” Saban said. “You always think it’s better someplace else. You kind of let your ego get involved, and you make moves that you shouldn’t make and really aren’t in your best interests for a career standpoint.”

    ReplyDelete
  118. All due respect to James Willis's title of associate head coach, but wasn't his move to Bama more or less a lateral one?

    Coach Saban...just...stop talking.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I ran across an article on the war eagle reader that quoted Tuberville before the 2008 season as saying Lubbock looked like the surface of the moon.

Out of curiosity I did a virtual drive around Lubbock. The surface of the moon is a little harsh, but it definitely isn't the loveliest village on the plains. There seems to be a dirt theme. Trees are small. Everything is flat. I don't think Tubbock will be in my vacation plans.
