MSU women def. Auburn, 73-58

Hey everyone. Hope your Sunday is going well.

I will be LIVE BLOGGING the women's game (Auburn vs. MSU) beginning around 2 p.m. This will be a Cover It Live-type situation.

Most of you are not into women's hoops and that's fine, too.

I'll be available to talk about a somewhat wide variety of topics, though I will be watching the women's game. Come soak it all in. This is a dress rehearsal for A New Era In HABOTN Game Coverage.

Love,

  4. Somebody needs to step it up and bump Harrison from the quote at the top of the HABOTN.

  5. Kathy,
Thanks for the video on the previous post - it is great! Glad you are getting warm :) I'm home from church, have my snowman pjs on and ready to snooze on the couch!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I won't be here, I'm being dragged to the mall after an exhaustive trip around central FL and the entirety of the state of Georgia.

But I will read through it after I get back. That's my fav thing about CIT.

  7. Where did Scottie B and Kristina go? They've been MIA.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Scottie had been sick, but I've seen him on here.

    ReplyDelete
  9. By the way, anyone who watched the Texas Tech game last night get tired of the announcers campaigning for Ruffin McNeil to get the HC job based off of one game?

  11. I was RK...

That's how WVU ended up with Stewart.

It's crazy to give someone a job based on one game.

    ReplyDelete
  12. If TTech doesn't hire Ruffin they'll have to face the black coach thing, only not just for not choosing one, but passing over one. He seems like a smart man who handles pressure well. Plus, he's cheap and, according to Leach, that's important to them. I think they'll hire him.

  13. Liveblogging Jay's liveblog:

Jay just said that he has a 10 dollar late fee at blockbuster, and he isn't paying.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Jay G just said Nell Fortner and Aubie arm wrassled during a timeout. The match was interrupted when Cliff Ellis ran in and hit Aubie in the back of the head with a folding chair. Aubie wins by disqualification, but Nell maintains the belt.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Jay G just said that although Michelangelo painted the Sisteen Chapel, he is more familiar with the current Sisteen Chapel "custodian".

    ReplyDelete
  16. you talking about the Sistine Chapel or the Sixteen Chapel?

    ReplyDelete
  17. THT, please. I am liveblogging.

And phonetically correct is correct enough when you are liveblogging. There is a lot of pressure, man.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Jay G just said that Chizik, despite what some other websites have reported, has never done a press conference naked.

    ReplyDelete
  19. michael...your 2:52 post sounds vaguely familiar, like something I saw on Raw or Nitro back in the day.

Oh my God!! It's Sting!! We gotta go!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. clutch work under pressure, MJT. Especially with all those sheep under foot.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Speaking of women's hoops.

    Baylor 99 Texas State 18
    UConn 91 Seton Hall 25

I'm always amazed at some of the scores you see in their games.

  23. Jay G just said that research being done at Auburn's biology is showing that Splenda does not taste nearly as much like real sugar as Splenda lovers suggest, and it also might cause AIDS.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Re: Splenda

AIDS = Accelerated Intestinal drive-by syndrome

    ReplyDelete
  25. It wouldn't shock me if Tuberville ended up at Texas Tech. It seems to have his type of atmosphere, similar to Ole Miss.

    ReplyDelete
  26. MSU won, 73-58.

Thanks to those of you who participated.

    ReplyDelete
  27. By the way, I read where Wes Byrum broke the record for points scored in a season. He had 99. I found that very impressive considering the low number of attempts he had this season.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thanks for the live blog JayG.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm not reading anything from the past week. I'm too tired.

  30. PF!! Congrats on the wedding. How'd everything go?

When are we going to meet Mrs. Frankenschmidt?

    ReplyDelete
  31. We had 128 readers and 326 comments today.

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Sorry I wasn't here to support you Jay, but I had an awesome nap!

Are the Auburn women just not going to be that good this year? I guess I was expecting good things after last year.

    ReplyDelete
  33. PF,
Were you able to watch the game? I know that might not have been the preferred activity for your missus on her first married day.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The ladies hung with them pretty well until the middle of the second half. I was reading and article and came back and suddenly they were beaten down pretty bad.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Should have used that modified wedding ceremony that said "Do you take this man and Auburn football to be your....".

    ReplyDelete
  36. There was a big screen at the brunch. I listened to the the second half in the car. I made her high five me every time we won.

I think the words "I am my beloved's, and my beloved and his love of Auburn football are mine" were uttered. I can't verify it, though, because I don't remember anything from the ceremony but trying to not get Tebomotional.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Okay,off I go. I'll check back in Wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I have dwelled on it, thought about it, debated it with myself, and come to a conclusion. Yesterday was the all time "most clutch" performance I have ever seen from an Auburn team, at least in the last 30 years. More clutch than Bo over the top. More clutch than Jason driving us down the field to beat LSU. EVERY Auburn team I can think of would have succumb to the odds, and dude would have run it in on the fake field goal. But not these boys. They just absolutely WOULD NOT QUIT.

I'm excited about what this D can do next year. Once we get loaded up with some fresh legs, we are going to be pretty tough; because we already have some boys out there who are "MANS".

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yes, more clutch than that one too.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Phred, I do think the D will be tough next season. In thinking about it, I think you are right. What they did was much more impressive, even than the drive against LSU. Frankly, I don't know how we stopped them. How could Northwestern have worn our defense down more? I have a lot of respect for all of those players. They are definitely men.

    ReplyDelete
  41. digger - yes they were Big 12 refs

SteveFC - I think NW coach made a tactical error when he took the usual route of defense first in OT. Our defense had been on the field the last few minutes of the game and would have had to be right back out there for OT. But following standard strategy, NW gave our defense a breather.

    ReplyDelete
  42. we watched the game earlier this afternoon and I was AH MAZED at the effort of Craig Stevens on that sack non-fumble that won the game the first time in OT. It was superhuman.

    ReplyDelete
  43. THT,

How you doing after the car crash? Do you have coverage for foot races on your auto insurance?

    ReplyDelete
  44. THT, you are probably right. I have also been thinking about the decision to fake the punt. I think it was a good one only because the NW kicker got injured. If he isn't injured, why not just keep pushing it to additional OT's. Byrum probably deserves some credit here, because the NW coach had to be thinking there is no way he is going to get in a kicking dual with Byrum against whoever their backup was.

If it weren't for the injured kicker, if I were the Northwestern coach I would have happily pushed for additional overtimes. I don't know how long our defense could have held. Apparently Washington had to be carried from the field at the end of the game, I am assuming because of cramps.

    ReplyDelete
  45. By the way, I really admired the Northwestern team and the way they played. They had nothing in terms of a running game and still gave us all we could handle. That team was very well coached.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Missed the ballgame. Since I have to go back to work tomorrow, I had to get the Christmas tree down. The holiday is officially over. I had the football game on and kept hearing Will Herring's name mentioned as well as Sen Marks getting his first NFL sack.

  48. IV - pain, lots of pain. The price of stupidity.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Phred,

That was impressive because it's easy to get down on yourself once you think you've won only to have the rug pulled out from under you...much less to have it done several times in the span of minutes.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Good to see 51-year-old Tony Richardson still playing in the league.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thoughts ...by tommyd

It's MUCH easier not to get violent and lose control at an Auburn game when you're actually at the game surrounded by other Auburn fans you can vent with.

It was a GREAT pleasure to finally meet our fearless leader and a good many of the hotties that were able to make it to Tampa and survive another WV like weather game. Y'all are awesome.

IV it was an honor sir. AU365 it was a great time!

Our team is going to be just fine. I'm convinced now more than ever that Gene Chizik knows exactly how to handle the reins of a major conference football team, and will be able to get these kids in position to succeed, if they're willing to do what it takes.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I've always like Tony Richardson. He is a good Auburn man.

    ReplyDelete
  53. MrTommy-Well said. I could not have said it better. I hope FSJ's team takes us lightly next year. They wil be good again, but I think Au willbe much better next year.

    ReplyDelete
  54. This -------------->
was obviously taken before the Pens lost and before I used myself as a battering ram.

  56. THT you broke it. I have NO avatars even after clicking yes as I always do.

    ReplyDelete
  57. FUnny stuff there Jet.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Keep Austin Weird...and evidently redneck free.

    ReplyDelete
  59. what exactly did I break, digger?

    ReplyDelete
  60. THT not sure but right after you posted with arrows pointing to your avatar and I refreshed the thread all avatars have disappeared on my page. They were there now they are all gone,

    ReplyDelete
  61. ok, I've changed my avatar back. Did that help?

    ReplyDelete
  62. Anonymous8:17 PM

Watching Bull Durham, my all time favorite baseball movie.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Watching football. My all-time favorite sport.

    ReplyDelete
  64. This is indeed strange. Each time I refreshed in the past a block came up asking some question and I would always press yes and the avatars would appear. Now if I press yes they stay gone and if I press No they come back.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Watched Field of Dreams on Christmas a week ago. Always hard not to cry at the end, especially if watching with my Dad.

And I'm not even a big baseball fan.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anonymous8:19 PM

    Football season is done.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Otherwise, Major League is my favorite baseball movie of all time.

That or The Sandlot. It's probably a tie.

    ReplyDelete
  68. It must be opposite day, digger.

Me and my ice pack are going to bed. And no, I'm not referring to the lovely wife.

    ReplyDelete
  69. that's blasphemy, NoVa!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I don't think you really had anything to do with it THT. I upgraded Exploer today and now I am having strange things happening in other places also. I was just kidding you about it. Put that picture back up it looks like it was shot by an expert.

    ReplyDelete
  71. While nowhere near the same level of passion, I am a Charger fan. And I'll watch football if it's on -- just about no matter who's playing.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Jet...Indiana vs Illinois.

    Would you watch it?

    ReplyDelete
  73. LOL, digger. That photo was shot by Rainbow City's finest portrait photographer!

    ReplyDelete
  74. I watched Colorado State @ Idaho earlier this season. You can't go wrong with college football.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anonymous8:25 PM

    What?

Auburn is done until September, the Skins are done and the only game left is a Bama game.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'd watch Indiana State vs. Illinois State.

I watch hoops a bunch, too.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'm watchin' Duke-Clemson in b-ball right now.

    ReplyDelete
  78. For some reason I always tend to like the announcers better for pro football games. I wonder if it is my imagination, or maybe it is because the college announcers just don't know that much.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm lookin' forward to TCU-Boise St. tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Great pic THT..

I'm sure by Thursday I will be in rare form.

    ReplyDelete
  81. E-Bro - is it March already? I thought we just started January.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Faker you will be a basket case by Thursday.
Couldn't find any greens and blackeyed peas in Tampa. 2.0 searched all over with her cell phone magic.
When do you want to meet at Pruett's?

    ReplyDelete
  83. I wouldn't exactly call us done until September. I am looking forward to recruiting. Also, I bet we have a starter named at QB in the spring.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Never too early for college basketball for this guy.

Texas-Bama and TCU-Boise St. take priority for my sports viewing this week, but college basketball games will never be too far from gaze when channel surfing.

    ReplyDelete
  85. NoVa
tomorrow night TCU vs Boise State
Tues night JGT's Corn People vs Ga Tech
Wed night Troy vs Central Michigan
    Thur night Texas vs UA-T

    ReplyDelete
  86. Let's face it, college football is now a year round sport.

It's just not played on the field from January-August.

    ReplyDelete
  87. After my 8:30 post, I have no doubt I will rest better tonight. Good night, Hotties!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Have they come up with an official apology for the Boise State/TCU winner?

    Dear ,
Please excuse us for ignoring you and your fine football program in selecting a national champion. We sincerely apologize and believe that is one of the top institution in the country.

    Please accept our sincerest apology,
    BCS Championship Committee

    ReplyDelete
  89. digger,

I'm actually taking off Thursday and Friday of this week (let's face it I'll be worthless on both days) so if you are available any of those days shoot me an email.

Of course if James Spann is correct, we may be digging out of a significant snow for this part of the country.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Snow in Alabama? Isn't that like trying to find a Catholic in a Southern Baptist Church?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Good Lord...James Spann has the high for Saturday at 18...Are you kidding me? A low of 5...

    ReplyDelete
  92. Exactly Steve...

I remember in 1993 we got just enough to be annoying in Tuscaloosa while family members here in Gadsden and up in Leesburg were without power for five days or so.

    ReplyDelete
  93. FSJ, have you been drinking or are you in Minnesota?

    ReplyDelete
  94. No...just looking at ABC 33/40's (out of Bham) website.

    ReplyDelete
  95. How bout this?

Cincy finished above TCU in the final BCS standings. If Nebraska had beaten Texas, we would be watching a Bama-Cincy matchup on Thursday.

    The horror...

    ReplyDelete
  96. FSJ It doesn't matter to me. Since it will be at lunch time could we try to beat the bad weather and do it earlier in the week?

    ReplyDelete
  97. On Thursday, I am seeing a 50% chance of snow in Hartselle and a 40% chance in Birmingham.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Wise up people. Move to beautiful Columbia, SC. We have predictions of clouds, but that is about it.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Just going by what they are saying here...

I'm sure it will change fifty times by Thursday..

    Bammerham Station

I will say this for Spann though...He was on Fox 6 at the time....He was the only weather person in Bham predicting a big snow event in 1993 early in the week. The rest didn't get on board until a couple of days later.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Ha, it is halfway through the game and NachoStinko hasn't caught a sing pass. Bless his heart.

    ReplyDelete
  101. digger,

I'll look at my schedule for the early days and let you know.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Hey FSJ, that forecast appears to be from that SNL guy that played in Caddyshack.

    ReplyDelete
  103. FSJ good enough we can talk later

    ReplyDelete
  104. LOL..

I think he does their weekend stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Jet-you going to to the bball game on Saturday at AU?

    ReplyDelete
  106. If I had to guess, WTC, I would guess not. I'm gonna guess Mama wants me around the house.

    ReplyDelete
  107. SupurMario27

Ok so here is the problem...I hate alabama but at the same time they are a SEC team...we need the wins...lmao..nevamind..LET'S GO TEXAS! WDE

    ReplyDelete
  108. Not a problem to me.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I just had a reader say I'm racist for using Beetlejuice as my avatar. I'm still trying to figure that out.

Racist? He's my favorite Stern Show personality.

    No idea on that one.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Sounds like a case for the ACLU.

What would they say if you had a picture of Stern as Fartman?

I'm all for living in a PC friendly culture, but damn.

    ReplyDelete
  111. As Beet would say: "Who, me?"

    ReplyDelete
  112. The reader that contacted you is an idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Jay,

are you really looking forward to AU basketball season?

    ReplyDelete
  114. Good morning, Hotties.

Instead of a long drive to Pittsburgh today, MrsTHT talked some sense in to me, so I'm trying to track down an orthopedist, instead.

Anybody want 3 tickets to see the Penguins & Thrashers tomorrow night? (it's not in Atlanta, btw)

    ReplyDelete
  115. I hope all the Hotties will join me tonight in watching the best team in college football. Go Frogs!!!

They have a very difficult task tonight, taking on a superb 13-0 Boise State team that they beat in a bowl game last year. A la AU vs Wisconsin, we all know how hard it is to beat a team two times in a row in bowl games. Hard for everyone but Texas, that is.

    HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. THT,
I am so sorry you aren't going to the game. I know how much you were looking forward to it. Hope you can get into a doc easily this am. Surely you have some connections?

    ReplyDelete
  117. Off to work after a 10-day vacation, and unfortunately, today and tomorrow will be 12-hr days listening to all the Bammers dribble about their game. I'll try to catch up tonight.

    War Eagle!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Good morning, Hotties and War Eagle! Did Mother Nature forget that this is Alabama?

I'm sorry I didn't get to meet any of the Hotties last week. With the downpour right after Tiger Walk, I didn't know if there would still be a "meet and greet."

Tar Heel, why do you need to see an orthopedic doctor?

HOOK 'EM HORNS! HOOK 'EM LIKE YOU'VE NEVER HOOKED 'EM BEFORE! HOOK 'EM LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  119. I'm with the Speedwagon, Fannin knows.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Cincy, I didn't think the Lady Tigers would be SEC champs again this year with the great players that graduated, but I didn't they lose by 15 points to MSU either.

    ReplyDelete
  121. LUV - in an act of spasticity, I busted my shoulder up pretty good.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Ah! Is that what you meant when you said you used yourself as a battering ram?

    ReplyDelete
  123. PMarsh has a good article with his comments on officiating at the Outback Bowl. I had no idea the roughing the FG kicker penalty should have been a no call.

Maybe I'll watch the game again today.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Good article, Tar Heel.

I think the incidental facemask penalty needs to be reinstated.

It is beyond my feeble mind how for so many games this season Auburn racked up the penalty yards, while the opposing team had very few. Is Auburn really that undisciplined?

Also, when we watched the game again yesterday, on the game-tieing (sp??) TD, a Northwestern receiver clearly false started and it wasn't called. We rewound it twice just to be sure.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Morning Hotties - when does the cold weather go away?

    ReplyDelete
  126. Not soon enough, Norm.

    ReplyDelete
  127. LUV - what section were you sitting in? we paraded HABOTN.COM around during halftime.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Tar Heel, we were in section 245, but at halftime we moved to the section behind the band.

    ReplyDelete
  129. morning hotties. glad to be back in front of a computer. not so glad to be back at work. :)

    ReplyDelete
  130. "Kathy said...
Where did Scottie B and Kristina go? They've been MIA."

thanks for the love Kathy. my internet went kaput at home last week so i had to read the habotn from facebook on my phone. i just couldn't post. my computer & comcast aren't getting along and they both think the other one is the problem. very frustrating. :( i am back to full strength i think from my sickness. thanks to all who showed love there too.

    ReplyDelete
  131. Scottie B - are those not some awesome caps in my avatar!

LUV - I think we made it as far as Section 240.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Work Sucks, but glad to be back on Habotn!

    ReplyDelete
  133. yall look pretty good THT. not sure if you got my text message during the game or not, but your placards were fantastic! i worked on a painting up until christmas eve for my mother-in-law then got sick. your idea was MUCH better than the banner i was thinking about. superb work my auburn friend!!!!! i wish i could've been there with you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  134. yep, I got it. And thanks for that great Christmas text/card!

speaking of text msg, just turned my phone on and got the latest Pens update...another loss! I think that's 5 in a row.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Interesting observations from PMarsh. I found it hard to believe that as maligned as their O-Line was pregame that they kept our D-Line at bay and there were few, if any, holding calls.

Also, the replay official made it apparent early he was not the overturning type. For better or worse.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Mornin' HOTTIES,

Still recovering from the Tampa trip, however, I have got to get my lazy butt up and walk today cold or not. I am so excited about the future of Auburn football. I believe that I witnessed the beginning of something great at the Outback Bowl. It also was the most memorable football trips I have ever made. Good times with my sons.

    ReplyDelete
  137. THT,

Get to the doctor with that shoulder and next time THINK.

    ReplyDelete
  138. So I guess we won in spite of the officials efforts, or lack of effort to call a fair game. I wonder why they would do that?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Also, I'm really beginning to doubt Malzahn's ability to call a game. He has some moments where the flow is good and the right play for the situation is called and then we go into a 5 drive funk where fart around doing stupid stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  140. What a game Sat. You guys that were able to go are very fortunate.

norm...you feel about the cold as I do the heat. I'm loving this weather.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Did I put the HABOTN into a state of shock by calling out The Genius?

    ReplyDelete
  142. I mean Friday, my internal calendar is all screwy.

    ReplyDelete
  143. Morning Hotties....

It was a cold, cold drive to Bammerham this morning.

The good news is that it is a short (hopefully championship) week for me!

    Have a great day!

    ReplyDelete
  144. Sir Sean ...

I didn't care for the 2nd Kodi pass play, nor putting him in the 'Cat at the goal line on 2nd down before the Byrum FG. Other than that, we did roll up 400 plus yards and we didn't have the ball that much. We're still short on playmakers on offense. We didn't get people open other than Darvin. That's got to change.

As for the pass rush, most of the game, we rushed 4, so they had 5 blocking 4. Our problem all season was LBs in coverage. When you're playing D. Hood and T. Bell (who will be a good player one day) plus the suspects at LB, you'll get picked apart.

Go back at watch it, most of the picks came when we sent 5 or more to pass rush.

    ReplyDelete
  145. Jet, agree with you on Hood and LB's in coverage. I thought the LBs did ok and thought T. Bell might have earned himself the NB role next year.

I think the idea of Kodi as an offensive weapon needs to be reevaluated.

Is there anywhere I can find the game online?

    ReplyDelete
  146. I wish kids were back in school today so I can hoop.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I agree with PMarshall after watching the replay last night. It is hard to imagine that one team has that many penalties and the other team has so few. I thought the face mask was a bad call at the game, it was almost right in front of us and it looked like a bad call in real time. I really don't know what the coaches or players can do about the calls when in so many cases they shouldn't even be a call.

    ReplyDelete
  148. It irritated me on the last kickoff that Washington was clearly no longer moving forward and allowed him to be stood up and hacked for a good 3-4 seconds before falling down.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Jet-I agree with your conclusions. I think Jay's posting the other day about Gus having to adjust his offense due to the lack of defense was pretty good.
My problem though is the same as Sean though. How does Au get up by 14 early the past 3 games and let the other team tie it up. It seems to me, we run a lot of motion early, score on the confusion of the defense, then it is like someone says 'Well that's all we got' and we go in a shell. AU stops running the motion stuff and the opponents defense stars to play normal schemes to stop anything we do. If it weren't for Adams, this offense would have died several deaths this year. AU had alot of big plays to him that bailed them out of trouble throughout the year.

  150. Anyone remember the number of penalties UK had in the game at JH? I think they had 0.

Did AU have more penalties in the game than any opponent we played?

    ReplyDelete
  151. Too many penalties. I understand it is year one and we have some talent deficiencies but sometimes the playcalling is way too cute and why the heck do we not run more in short yardage situations on 3rd down?!

    ReplyDelete
  152. Jay, do you think that effect on your avatar will make you less racist now?

    ReplyDelete
  153. mytommy it was a delight to meet you last Friday. With the seating arrangement we didn't get much time to talk maybe next time the opportunity will give us more time.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Digger, it was great meeting you, sir. And yes perhaps at the next grand HABOTN function, we'll get a chance to meet a good bit more.

Thanks again THT for getting all that organized.

  155. Sean,

I've been saying the same thing. I like the offense, but sometimes the play calling drives me crazy. Mainly with the use of the KodiCat, it seems to kill momentum and nothing creative seems to come out of it. (However, any time Kodi puts the ball in the air we are tempting fate.)

We are creative early in the game with a lot of motion, then after the scripted part of the game is over we tend to go into a shell.

Overall we put up good offensive numbers, but I think the play calling could be better as well.

  156. 11 straight days off from work, it was no fun coming in today.

  157. What was interesting at the bowl game, whenever they did the Wildcat with Kodi, you could hear the "uh-oh" and the prediction of the inside run. I do believe if we simple fans can figure that, the opposition probably has too. I really wish he would have gotten his passing skills honed to a greater degree.

    ReplyDelete
  158. If CM is the starting QB 9let's not get into a starting QB discussion though) I think the wildcat goes away. He is big and fast enough to run the ball or throw it to keep the defense guessing which he will do. IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  159. The Wildcat is a great tool to use when you actually have the right people running it. Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, Felix Jones and RunDMC. Kodi Burns does not have the ability to do what those guys do.

  160. up from my nap...

Sean - we proved early on that we are almost incapable of gaining a yard on the ground in those short yardage situations. That has been, by far, the most disappointing aspect of our offense in each of the past 2 years.

BTW - where were you at the game?

mytommyd, IV, digger, AUFan - y'all made the Outback Bowl an absolutely FANTASTIC memory for the THT crew. Thanks!!!!!!!!

2.0 (proving she is 2.0) is making me go to the ortho clinic today. I set up an appt with a shoulder specialist for Friday, but she thinks I need to be seen sooner than that. I think she's right. Y'all have a great afternoon!

    HOOK 'EM HORNS!!!

  161. If it were my decision, next season the only time Kodi would touch the football is as a receiver. The wildcat with him at QB in the middle of the field makes me crazy. Kodi has my respect but he is not a strong runner and a total fail as a passer. Put him in the slot and use that 4.5 speed in a match up with linebacker, but that's it. IMO

  162. THT, I was there, we came up, me and another guy, but the women got lost and of course when they came up and saw the rain, I was forced to move up into the empty seats. So we ended up a few rows back.

    ReplyDelete
  163. I actually thought the two balls Kodi threw Friday were the best two he's thrown this year. Didn't like the play call afer the first pick, but two things stand out:

Both defenders made incredible plays to make the pick.

He didn't get much help from the receiver on either throw.

  164. Rich Brooks changes certainty from 80 percent he's gone to 100 percent he's gone.

    ReplyDelete
  165. That may be Jet, but I recall watching, on the first one, the Safety was sitting on it. The second pick was a great play by the DB.

  166. Is the SEC ready for the Joker?

    ReplyDelete
  167. He's a Joker, he's a smoker, he's a midnight toker ...

    ReplyDelete
  168. Rich Brooks had a good run at UK. I wonder if the Joker can build upon the foundation.

    ReplyDelete
  169. Rich Brooks was a heckuva coach.

Probably the second best coach in UK football history. I'm not a Kentucky football historian but I think he'd have to be up there based on their history.

  170. I'm heading to lunch, y'all better flip this thing before I get back.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Y'all be on ya baddest behavior.

  172. Somebody page Norm.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Faker, I'll be he's lurking nearby.

    ReplyDelete
  174. It is very interesting to me that we are already talking about 2010. That tells me everyone is excited from what happened with this team and are looking forward to much progress this spring and fall. I think that is a good assessment.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Rich Brooks is the best coach Ky has ever had. The second best moved on to Texas A&M and then on to other endevors.

    J/K Faker

  176. i was at UK when Brooks was hired. people were furious. he easily succeeded more than anyone ever thought he would. hats off to him.

    ReplyDelete
  177. I think that the biggest improvement will be in the LB and DB positions. That will help to open up the defense more, giving Roof better choices on sets to call. I also think as the depth on D improves, it will help Gus get more of his O in the game. I can't wait. I wished we were teeing it up this afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Has anyone been able to find the 2010 schedule on line anywhere? I've tried and have come up blank.

    ReplyDelete
  179. Today is my first chance at HABOTN posting since leaving for Tampa. I'm sure every possible comment has already been made about the game. However, I was wondering if anyone besides me waited to cheer on the 3rd time we won the game until the refs ran off the field and into the tunnel.

Btw, nice to meet the Hotties in Section 232. It was a brief meeting, as I arrived just as the placard parade was starting, but still nice to shake the hands of some fellow Hotties and to put faces with names.

  180. Okay, I am doing my part to get to a page flip. Help me.

    ReplyDelete
  181. IV,

I think I saw it the other day.

I think y'all have like eight home games again..

Looks to be a good schedule to make a run at the west, IMO.

I think the winner of the Iron Bowl wins the west next year.
