Trovon Reed finally finds the fax

After a few tense hours, WR Trovon Reed has faxed his paperwork to Auburn.

WR Trovon Reed, 6-0, 175, Thibodaux, La./Thibodaux HS
This Auburn staff has no problem shuttling players from one position to the next, which helps explain why they were so enthusiastic about Reed. He played quarterback exclusively in high school. Auburn believes he'll soon emerge as a play-maker at wideout and those coaches aren't alone -- Reed received offers from every SEC school and plenty of other major programs. He's extremely fast. He's unusually elusive in the open field. He looks like a cornerback, though, and needs more upper-body bulk. Reed looked fine while playing wideout at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, but he has plenty of technique work ahead. Rivals.com and Scout.com both rate him a four-star recruit.

  2. And we're spent. Congrats to the staff for getting the job done.

  3. Tenn just got another big sign...the DC from Boise St.

  4. Welp - Time to try to salvage at least part of the work day. Looks like we are home free now.....

  5. Now, maybe I can actually get some work done...probably not.

  6. UT signed a defensive coordinator?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Does Boise's DC have any eligibility left?

  8. Off to a funeral. Looks like the hay is in the barn

  9. Excellent job by the coaching staff. Can't wait to see this offense with a mobile qb and a defense with more depth.

  10. Toon-day Freaky. I like it. (yes, this is reposted from the other, ancient thread).

Yes, I'm late to the party, but it's been a busy day at work, too.

Merry Recruitmas, everyone. And yes, I'm glad I didn't make the 3.5 hour trek to Spartanburg last night, although it would have been worth it just to hang with JGT and Stephen Davis for a couple of hours.

And I'm glad Reed's in, too.

  11. Fantastic job, JGT!!! You are the best non-AU fan ever.

  12. I love how the LSU coaches (and his HS coach) were begging Reed to commit as early as this morning. Unbelievable that Chiz & Co. snagged the no. 1 player from a state like LA. He may have been the toughest catch of all.

  13. WOW there it is REED!!!!

  14. LaDarius Owens is on the ESPN signing day commercial. His bit is "a national championship." Love it.

  15. What a day! Is it football season yet???

    ReplyDelete
  16. So, are we done? Anybody left or can I pay attention to the man for the rest of the day ?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Really hope he turns out better than his baskeball name-sake!

  18. Looks like AU will finish up at No. 3 on rivals. USC (no.4) just missed on a big time safety (going to WA)

    ReplyDelete
  19. USCw is going to pull in Seantrel Henderson...their class is an average 4.19 star rating LOL

  20. Right about now I am playing in my head a Phil Collins song...

" I can feel it coming in the air tonight.....hold on".

"I been waiting for this moment..for all my life...sing with me..lol...

  21. We haven't had a lot of luck with players from Louisiana. I think one last year was from Louisiana. Before that, it seemed like every time we signed one, they didn't make it to campus.

Glad to see Trovon in the fold.

Next season will be very interesting. Don't overlook our second game, which I believe is at MSU. It could be tougher than you might think.

  22. The prior comments about Ladarious Phillips described him as a FB/DL. If you look at the clips, however, he's playing TB on every play (with a kid half his size blocking). It's amazing how fast he is.

  23. I was hoping for some good interviews from scout/rivals people on the lunch hour show in Montgomery (740)....Stupid me! Just mindless, mindless, beyond mindless babble...Oh well...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Comm'r, I am assuming he will be a DT, but I could be wrong. We really needed one more.

  25. ESPNU courtesy of ESPN360 just decided to work on my computer. bout freakin' time!

  26. Supposedly Kiffikin spent the night in his office waiting for faxes. What a frickin dork.

  27. Wendi Nix is live from the UT sports complex. wonder if i should go say 'hi'. :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Scottie ... you should go see Wendi and tell her the HOTTIES say "Get some."

    ReplyDelete
  29. Steve, he probably will be a DL for AU. My point is that you don't see many 270lb kids with good enough quicks to play TB, let alone so well!! He will make a heck of a DL.

  30. Jet....if only i could break away from work. if only....

  31. May be a little late on this but Bonomolo is on board...That's curtains right?

Just read elsewhere that Bonomolo's paper are in. Better wait for Homer to make sure tho.

    ReplyDelete
  33. i just told a fellow co-worker about Wendi Nix being within 5 miles of our office. he about fell out of his chair. good times.

    ReplyDelete
  34. No doubt. Homer has the final word.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I heard that as well, thats it, 27 for today 5 for 2009. Thats a wrap.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Jay G. ... so who was the big surprise that didn't happen?

    ReplyDelete
  37. The Jones kid from Ark didnt sign, so I assume thats when we went with the Fullback that will be a DL,

    ReplyDelete
  38. USC may have the most impressive class. They only have 16 recruits, but they are all about quality. If they sign many more, they could be the number 1 class.

    ReplyDelete
  39. A year ago on NSD it was a celebration in the bammer media that rivaled the mythical national championship aftermath.

Today..A comparison to Auburn and all other great SEC recruiting classes that have failed. Shocker!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I really wish we had gotten Byran Jones, but we will be fine. Our depth issues are gone. Now we just need to get these guys some experience.

Welcome to the new recruits, many of whom will fill out our special teams. It should make a world of difference.

Steve ..I guess Kiffen will back the press down a bit with this class. That is until he commits his next stoopid act.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Had to get a C in the class with Pugh moving on after next season.

    Great, Great day.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I am glad Kiffikin went to USC. I had no problem with Pete Carroll. Kiffikin is fun to dislike.

I think I am going to like Derek Dooley at UT, too. He seems like a good guy.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous1:32 PM

It will take a couple of seasons before this class makes a huge difference. At least we won't have such a precarious depth chart.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Derek Dooley does seem like an outstanding guy. Though ESPNU gives all the credit to $aban for Dooley's success..

So I guess UT should be thanking the little one for saving their class and keeping them top 10. Good grief.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hoopie, this class will impact the defense and special teams immediately. I don't really see any of them starting on defense, but you will definitely see some new linebackers get playing time. It will make a difference.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Bonomolo's papers were "cleared" while I was getting some grub at Momma G's. They were in at least two hours ago ...

I'll put up a new thread momentarily.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Momma G's......jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  49. And they will be working with guys that have been in the line of fire. Hopefully they can coach them up as well as be that much better not having to play all 117 plays in a game

    ReplyDelete
  50. Anonymous1:35 PM

According to Scout.com, Bono is in. Are there anymore surprises? OR is the hay in the barn? (don't hate-couldn't resist)

    ReplyDelete
  51. had momma g's last night....good stuff, and good class

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anonymous1:36 PM

    Momma G's rocks

  53. I am euphoric over our class of signees. Congrats to Chizik and Co. for working their butts off. I'm sure the dividends will soon be showing.

And thank you Jay G for working your butt off for our pleasure ...and your paycheck. It is very much appreciated.

What's up with Tubs and his Raiders......how did he do?

    Just asking!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Jay G gets a 2 hour lunch?

    Re: recruiting

    GAME ON!!!!"

    Saban's response would be:

    MEMO

    From: Nick Saban
    To: Gene Chizik

    RE: recruiting
Nice work. Let's see if you can win a SEC CG and BCS with them in two years.

    Love,
    Nick

    Gene's Response to the response

    "MEMO

    To: Lil' Nicky $aban

    Re: SEC and BCS

    GAME ON.....JACKASS!!!!!!

PS, Quit wearing that stupid tight white t-shirt under your coaches shirt. You don't have guns like me.

Also, my wife wants to tell your buddy Paul to get off his knees while he is in your office. She will not appear on that show.

    See ya later little man.

    Your Pal,

    Gene
