Whitaker chooses Auburn
Hey everyone. Defensive tackle Jeffrey Whitaker of Warner Robins, Ga., has decided to sign with Auburn on National Signing Day.
On why he chose Auburn: ``It just felt comfortable. There was no question. I couldn't turn away from it. It just felt like home."
On what he wants to do on the field: ``I'm going to be that three technique so hopefully I can move some guys out of my way and make my way to the quarterback or running back."
On his relationship with other Auburn recruits: ``The class that's coming in -- there's a pretty big bond. We've been keeping in touch for quite some time. They've been keeping me on the radar."
On the decision-making process: It wasn't tough. It was aggravating. Everybody was calling you and this and that. When I was little, I said I wanted to be a rock star celebrity. After this, I just want to be a simple person. It wasn't tough. Pressure is whatever you make of it. There wasn't any pressure. It was just aggravating from time to time."
On his training regimen: ``I've got to run. I've been eating, but I've got to run now. You just made me go from happy to sad. I don't even know what to say anymore! I have to run, train, sweat, hydrate. Same 'ol, same 'ol."
On living the dream: ``It's a dream that I probably never though would happen. We came up hard. We didn't have the Nike brands. I can remember a day coming home and having holes in my shoes. I'd look in my closet and there were like four outfits. My mom, I wish she was here. About five and a half years ago, she passed. It's a dream, but I'm not done. I'm looking to keep getting better. Hopefully one day, when it's all said and done, then I can evaluate myself as a player."
On the effect of Tracy Rocker on his decision: ``It was a big one. That's the main thing when you're making a decision like that -- who you're going to be around a lot. The head coach is nice and everything. Your position coach is going to be like your head coach, you'll spend time with him, learn a lot from. I think he's a guy who's going to have my back 100 percent."
On his plans for 2010: ``I always say when you get the redshirt, it's determined by how hard you work during the offseason. If I came in and 340 and overweight, yeah, I think I'd be redshirted. I'm pretty comfortable. I'll come in and make an immediate impact because I'll work my butt off and come in looking to do some great things."

jhag ..the lesson to learn here is to not show up with a bunch of arrogant attitude about something you know nothing about. You've been busted for that on here several times previously and just don't seem to get it.
IMO when you do that, you come off as somewhere between a jelly dart and a village idiot. You come on e here one night spewing "certainties" and then casually mention that "things changed" only a week or 2 later.
At least man-up and apologize to Turfman and the others that you've called out.
Spewing rumors with attitude in order to protray them as facts should be left with those punks over on Tigerdroppings.
jhag, I am so jealous. It is in the 20's in Nashville. Headed to Fairhope and the Grand Hotel on Thursday - I sure hope it is warmer!
Wow did you really just write all that, you must really have something against me...and on the internet, now that is funny
Brace yourself Hoopie.
I think you're about to GET SOME!
Pretty sure things change all the time in recruiting so Im not listening to whatever you just tried to get across for one second
So, Chromers.... I should ditch my non-beta Chrome for the beta version? what is different? Other than the ability to run scripts and extensions? What are the essential extensions/scripts I should look into?
not gonna get some yet, but if buttons are pushed, certainly going to allow Hoopie to generously "amass a portion'
jhag...you're getting soft in your old age.
Dmiller- I think they are kidding., but someone should take that site down. it is very disrespectful.
I looked at some other links. they have one witha picture of KA's brother and you can make fun of him at a certain blog.

It is annoying reading that x team is paying players if you lose a recruit....no matter where you read it...Alabama boards, Auburn boards, or even here.
FSJ
is this what you speak of?

Good Morning Everyone!!
Its off to work time. Hoping for a Big Day comes Auburn's way today.
I have read where Lattimore wants a college that is as much like the small town he plays football in. That would seem to say that Auburn would be the place, although Columbia doesn't have the feel of many big cities. It kind of reminds me of Huntsville in terms of size, but that is probably misleading because it is much flatter here. The Auburn area still has that small town feel. I like our chances.
Good morning, Hotties!!!
JGT - please have a safe trip to/from the upcountry

I think it was rivals that said Lattimore most reminded them of Ronnie Brown. That seems like a good comparison since Brown could pretty much do everything too. Lattimpre does seem to be the ideal type of player that Malzahn looks for, a player that will allow him to run his offense without so many substitutions for specific plays.
So what's everyone doing for Recruitmas Eve? Traveling to the in-laws? Or is the family coming home?
Any last minute shopping?
I am going to go run a obstacle course in the cold rain... Some people just don't get this holiday.
Well, I'll probably be at the doctor's office. Both Mrs. Jet and Stewardess exhibited flu-like symptoms.
Thanks to everyone that suggested Google Chrome. I'm lovin it. Like DMiller I would like to know the difference between the normal/beta version and how do I know which one I have?

CH...
I don't think Chrome is in beta anymore.
Ok, I switched to Chrome and giving it a test drive. So far, I like Firefox better, but I will give it time.
All the tea leaves point to Lattimore being a Cock. I hope that is wrong, but lots of info suggesting that to be the case. Jeffrey Lee of Auburnsports.com backed out of covering the announcement. That means not good IMO, because Jeffrey Lee has always planned to be there because he thought Lattimore would be an Auburn Commitment. This class is solid, but it really really needed Lattimore to get that national boost as being one of the best, so this news really blows to me. I'm excited what the staff has done and this is one of the only true recruits that they have put the full court press on and maybe struck out on.
Good morning, Hotties! Tomorrow is the day! Also, the season premiere of the final season of Lost is on tonight!!
As for Lattimore ... he seems like a fine young man. The pressure to stay home must be incredible.
It's hard for me to be upset for a young man to choose a school close to his home (when we're far away), and that school has been recruiting him all along.
Maybe he'll surprise us, but I doubt it.
I'm not upset at Lattimore at all or any kid. Just bummed that he was close to being a Tiger. Apparently Auburn will be looking at 1-2 surprise commits tomorrow. I'm curious to see who they may be.
I just installed a linux version of chrome called chromium. The obvious first thing I miss is the ability in firefox to zoom in. Does Chrome have this? It is one of the neat features of firefox because it zooms both text and graphics.
Morning folks, we're almost there.
Miller, that link for the UAT board is no longer active, dang.
Don't know anything about the beta version of Chrome. The version I've been on for about 9 months works just fine for me. In my personal experience, beta versions of something have all the faults/problems/irritations/bugs/security holes/etc that say a 2.0 does not. The differences and improvements between 2.0 and beta can be staggering. Of course, in my personal experience, "beta" and "2.0" refers to wives. So, it may not be exactly the same thing.
