The one who got away

Hey everyone. Based wholly on a suggestion from Jet, I watched the final 5 minutes of the UTEP-Houston game. I couldn't help but notice that Kelvin Lewis, the former Auburn guard, scored 28 points in the Cougars' win.

They're headed to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1992.

Auburn is not headed to the tournament.

Lebo lost a ton of talented guys during his six years on the Plains: Lewis, Marco Killingsworth, Lew Monroe, Toney Douglas and Josh Dollard among others. That's a great starting five right there.

  7. Frame - No. I really don't like him.

  8. My vote's for Gene Hackman

  9. I thought PDL's suggestion was a good one - are you saying we don't have a chance? Don't you think someone will look at the Auburn job as a challenge, something to prove?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Eddie-I mentioned earlier that Anderson turned down UGA with $2.2 million being offered. Think it would take more than that to get him to come to AU and Chizik makes only $2.1 million (that was hard to say). I just doubt AU will pay the bball more than the fball coach.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'm telling you. It's Boom.

    Book it.

    ReplyDelete
  12. The "right fit" for Auburn - does it imply/require someone who is familiar with Southern culture and Auburn's small town atmosphere?

    Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Very interesting. It seems Lebo didn't have as much a problem getting players, than keeping them. This is similar to what went on with Tuberville. We had several great looking classes, on paper. They lost something in the transfer from paper to field.

Jay, what do you believe is the cause of the players leaving?

    ReplyDelete
  14. THT...yes it does.

    ReplyDelete
  15. SteveFC - it had to be the shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  16. THT-I hope not.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Don't get fooled into trying to put the football peg into the basketball hole.

    ReplyDelete
  18. That would limit the candidates. There are many small southern schools that have a decent bball team. AU is not one of them, at this time. there is no reason they could not be one of those teams.

    ReplyDelete
  19. THT, it may mean to know the recruiting situation and be willing to live with it. Along with the normal stuff that Jacobs said Lebo had.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anyone watching the SEC tourney? Look at the arena filled with blue shirts. That is fan support. Au bball could take lesson from this. A hard lesson.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am watching. wondered if anyone else was.

    ReplyDelete
  22. win more games?

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think that if JJ doesn't lift the self imposed ban with Kamora, AU is going to get a shorter list of HC candidates. Any big-time coach will walk away if you limit their recruiting field.

    ReplyDelete
  24. George-fan support. I know AU is not UK in bball, but if AU was in this game, you could fire a shot gun at the AU section and not hit anyone.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I hope you are right but JJ hasn't indicated he is willing to do this.

    ReplyDelete
  26. This is true. I just remember going to the games in the late 90s when the beav was packed. I believe winning would change that attitude. Maybe not immediately but it would surely help.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I am uncertain of why we had the high player attrition rate. I can't believe it is the Auburn atmosphere. As for the arena, I would have thought they knew what they were getting into.

My guess would be that it would be the team environment, which ChizCo fixed with the family atmosphere.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I feel attrition was due to Lebo's unbending rules and the way he made them toe the line. So many kids who have been BMOC can't take it.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I just want someone who interacts a little more with the students and the community. Plus one who keeps us out of NCAA trouble. And one who wins games. Am I expecting too much?

    ReplyDelete
  30. He probably did have his rules, but other than Killingsworth, those kids went on to have very good college careers.
I liked Lebo, but maybe he did need to leave, when you look at the big picture.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Guess that's why lebo doesn't hav a job today. that would b a great starting 5.

    Go Cats!

    ReplyDelete
  32. No cincy but we are going to have to have help in the recruiting area by JJ and the powers that be.

    ReplyDelete
  33. digger, you could be right. I don't know, but that sounds reasonable.

As for fan support, that will come to some degree with winning.

Auburn could have better fan support in football, also. But that is partially due to some of the scheduling. There aren't many people excited to see us play Furman or Arkansas State.

I don't mind a weak opponent in the opening game because we have traditionally gotten bit in a game played early, but putting someone like UCLA on the schedule would have helped.

I think I like the approach they have taken with the new arena. Building an arena that we could reasonably fill if the program turns around makes a lot of sense. Building an arena that might sell out a couple of times a year wouldn't make sense.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Maybe the interaction problems with the students/fans was an indication of a problem interacting with the players too.

A coach can be tough, but if he is viewed as fair and reasonable, the team will buy in. Chizik is a good example. He didn't hesitate to boot players off the team, but the players still seem to love him.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Gratuitous Ashley Judd in the crowd shot.

She still warms the heart of a 90-something like me.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Steve said:

I understand the UCLA think right now, but that thought process needs to change. AU needs to let it be known they will travel and play the best competition out there no matter what. I am not calling ANYONE out, but many AU fans need to get over the smallish mentality when it comes to sports and competing with others.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree with the football schedule they could do much better than the crap games we have seen lately. Don't have to schedule all big games but there are better teams, that we should beat. that could be scheduled.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It is slipping away fast for Tenn.

    ReplyDelete
  39. 13-2 run by UK and Pearl is still coaching. He didn't bury his head in his hands.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Peal nor Tenn will give up they may lose but they will be fighting all the way.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The play anyone anywhere attitude isn't reasonable. Could we schedule 4 top notch out of conference opponents? It is possible, but probably not a good idea.

The problem I have is with the ridiculous opponents, such as Furman and Arkansas State. Those are a total waste of time. Games like that where if you loose, your coach might get fired shouldn't be played.

The philosophy now seems to be one good out of conference opponent a year, like West Virginia and Clempson. Adding one more wouldn't be bad, but more than that wouldn't likely work out well.

My complaint would be with the other two games. Schedule someone like Southern Miss instead of Furman. Schedule a lower level ACC team for the other spot or even someone like Troy or MTSU.

Those are teams that can compete with us. They aren't likely to win, but they have a sporting chance and would draw a lot more interest.

Saying play only top notch opponents isn't reasonable, but not playing schools that have absolutely no chance no matter how good or bad we are hurts. The wins don't help.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Play any one anywhere does not mean schedule 4 top teams per year. it means I will place calls to play a top team on a home-home basis or a neutral site and have one of those per year and then some competitive teams but zero cupcakes or no more than one.
I am with you one this, I think you may have interpreted it wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The double technical has to go away in college basketball. UK has been starting the scrums and then hitting both guys with Ts is ridiculous.

Either call the T one way or the other or don't count it as a personal.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Stick a fork in Tenn they are done.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Have Clempson as our good out of conference opponent this season isn't bad. If I remember correctly, Clempson went to the ACC Championship game last season, although admittedly I think about half the SEC would win the ACC Championship.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Of course elbowing someone in the man area deserves an ejection.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The elbow in the midsection isn't allowed in basketball?

After watching rugby on BBC this morning; we are all a bunch of fancy lads compared to them.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Scott Drew of Baylor is my choice for HC in basketball. Never going to get him, but I am never going to be able to afford a corvette, but I want one.

BTW, the football schedule is kind of a joke. I dont care about playing the toughest schedule in the country, but give me something better than this year.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I am good with Furman or someone like that late in the year but just one team like that a year. It was good to have them so we could let a few guys rest late in the season but the other games can have a little more beef to them. The thing about Troy is you lose or barely get by it looks bad in state(this year in bball). Then if you blow them away it was uncalled for.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Completely off topic, but I find this story hilarious. Apparently someone made a serious bonehead move.

    ReplyDelete
  51. WTC- agree completely with you about the play anyone anywhere mentality. We had no business turning down the UCLA game other than greed. It makes me sick.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ashley Judd love her some cats. She is a die hard fan. Got to love it.

    ReplyDelete
  53. UCLA was disappointing and I don't even consider them a top notch opponent. They are pretty decent. I don't understand why it wasn't possible.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Also, Aunurn paying more for the basketball coach than the football coach will never happen. Mike Anderson is a pipe dream, even if a good one.

    ReplyDelete
  55. boise state said anybody any time no return game. how did the SEC not take that. run auburn, alabama, Fl., and LSU at them in a row

    ReplyDelete
  56. I sometimes feel dirty for liking Three Days Grace.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Good gamewith Duke - Miami. Duke up by 7 with just under4 to play.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I agree 110% with Cincy. The next coach not only has to know how to coach and recruit but also interact with the Auburn family. I have said on here before that I love Bruce Pearl because of how he interacts with the students and fans. Without fan support you can not sustain a program. I'm going to watch the games whether we are good or not, but I am in the minority. As much as a hate fair weather fans we need them to get this thing rolling. Once it gets going and people begin to grow up Auburn bb fans then it will be easy to keep going..coach after coach.

    ReplyDelete
  59. We need to play UAB in football AND basketball!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. JGT -I have absolutely no idea what TDG is, so I must be pretty clean.

    ReplyDelete
  61. JJ better end this Komera voluntary ban.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Brady understands the SEC, but would be the last fall-back choice if we get turned down THREE times.

    ReplyDelete
  63. THT- Canadian rock band. But that's about all I know.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Take it easy edwin..we do not need to play UAB in football. It would never happen but say we lost that game. That would be the worst lose in school history and would be bad for recruiting.

    ReplyDelete
  65. As for Anderson, check out this post of Feb. 10 b former AU football player Dr. Rob Pate. www.eyesonauburn.blogspot.com

    ReplyDelete
  66. So has Nike gotten into tinkering with the basketball unis as well. Notices both UK's and Dukes are similar in style

    ReplyDelete
  67. That 8th home game i$ ju$t too tempting.

    ReplyDelete
  68. UAB is div. 1 non cupcake. The $ stays in state. Fear of losing is an immobilizing and non productive mental state. I have attended AU football games since 1965, and the most disasterous losses were '07 to U of South Florida and Miss St. back to back. I still say those two losses dooomed TUBBS.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm bored. Hubby is making me lay low today. No Braves, no Auburn sports, no good movies. Tired of reading my book. Can't someone stir up some good gossip or something?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Ohio State and Illinois are in OT

    ReplyDelete
  71. Regarding Rob Pate's assessment ... the problem there was Ed Richardson, who demanded that Mike Anderson come to campus for an interview. Anderson (reasonably) recoiled at the request and Dr. Ed pulled the plug on the whole Anderson enterprise.

That's not Hal's fault. Or Jay Jacobs'.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Making a good candidate cone to campus for an interview is assinine.l, especially if said coach is employed.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I hope Ohio State loses. I don't like OSU.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Illinois holding onto the ball at the end of the game and end of OT is CRAZY. Now o to double OT.

    ReplyDelete
  75. OK, Eddie, you convinced me. I'll go watch.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Got to love college basketball and this time of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Anonymous3:05 PM

When the NCAA went to a 12 game season, they failed to extend the season by a week. You almost have to schedule a cupcake to make up for the missing open date.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Nova- but you don't you don't have to schedulemultiple cup cakes.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'll take a cupcake in Game 9 or 10. Otherwise, I'll stick to ice cream. And we don't have to play tOSU or USCw in Game 1, but a Washington State or similar opponent would sure beat the heck out of an Arky State.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Jay G is correct in re Chainsaw Ed.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I don't think we should play more than one team out of conference that has a reasonable shot to beat us. Clemson is that team in 2010. We've got enough games in the league that will give us all we can handle.

I don't want us playing FBS teams, but scheduling an out of conference game late in the year is difficult.

We get so wrapped up at what happened in 2004, that we seem to want to run to the other way. Or it may be a matter of fussing about ticket prices for the lesser opponents.

    ReplyDelete
  82. my thoughts have nothing to do with '04. Just a desire to see games that are at least semi-interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Jet- turning down UCLA is pathetic on our part.

    ReplyDelete
  84. fine, I'll just save it for the next thread ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  85. easyedwin

I am not up for in-state games with Troy and UAB in football nor basketball you lose to them and it is not good for the program you blow them out and you look bad for running the score up. I am all for schools like (La. Tech, MTSU, North Texas)

    ReplyDelete
  86. I wish we would play Troy and UAB. Bring it on.

    ReplyDelete
  87. "I'm on the iPhone."

I'll continue to say that at the time that presented itself we weren't sure where we were yet to accept that game. I realize it's a minority opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  89. How bout some big east teams

    ReplyDelete
  90. it should be noted that Pate didn't write that entry on Anderson and the fiasco 6 yrs ago--it was the other author, Zack.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Anonymous4:32 PM

West Virginia is Big East and we just did a home and home. JJ seems to have a 1 BCS opponent a year philosophy.

I agree we need more middle ranked teams and 1 cupcake for a break.

    ReplyDelete
  92. has anyone thought about checking to see if Tubby Smith is willing to come back to the SEC?

    ReplyDelete
  93. GB, I think Tubby would be a good hire. He is familiar with the south and I think he is a pretty good coach.
    Sweet 16 - 5 times

  99. With AU and UNC stinkin it up, it's no wonder I haven't watched even a nanosecond of tournament basketball.

Less than 11 days till football!!!

    ReplyDelete
  100. Can't say I'm interested in Tubby. I don't think we need a coach on his last job.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Being scared to play UAB and Troy says more than loosing to them.

Hire Sylvester Croom as the new BB coach. He has previous head coaching experience in the SEC. He has the skin color to please the racists. Our sister school was criticized for not hiring him. He would definitely cause a stir in the media. He runs a clean program. He knows coach speak.

I do think eliminating the ridiculous cupcakes is more important that scheduling another big time school in football each season. We already take one.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Being scared to play and not making sense to play are two totally different things. The only win in playing UAB or Troy is that the money will stay in state.

    ReplyDelete
  103. MrsTHT and I have been watching Eli Stone episodes via Netflix. Did any Hotties like that show? We've really enjoyed it so far... we're a few episodes into season 2 now. I never even heard of it when it was on TV. The only reason we found it is because the dude who plays Eli Stone played some role in Emma, and MrsTHT was apparently smitten.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Note only would the money stay in state, but the wins would be more impressive than Arkansas State or Furman.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I have never heard of Eli Stone. Thanks. I may check it out.

By the way, the season of Big Love was pretty much a disappointment. Whoever heard of a season that is 9 episodes long. It was too much shoved into to few episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Inning over 7-6 ASU.

    ReplyDelete
  111. the problem with scheduling "lower tier" acc or big least teams is that by the time you schedule uconn 5-6 years out, they are inevitabley on a hot streak by the time AU plays them. see usc, gt, wvu as examples over the last ten years of that happening to us. then you may end up playing two or three above average teams if the cusa, sunbelt or mac team on the schedule happens to be any good. unfortunately for us fans, we need furman on the schedule to have the extra off week.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Wheels coming off. ASU 10-AU 6 bottom headed to top of 6th.

    ReplyDelete
  113. It doesn't seem my campaign to hire Sylvester Croom as basketball coach is going to work out. What a shame. It would definitely be an interesting hire.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Way off topic, but while perusing craigslist I have found the following for sale: 1 box ammo, a male corn snake, 3 tattoo chairs, a princess potty, jig making equipment and a Civil War re-enactors Officer's tent. Amazing what you can find.

Anyone need me to do any shopping for them? I told you I was bored.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Since I have successfully killed our thread, I guess I will go to bed. Night, hotties!

    ReplyDelete
  118. Spring forward ... bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Spring Forward - check.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I'm not sure losing to the #2 team in the nation makes our baseball team subpar. Too early to tell on that yet. I think we still have a great season ahead. Played great in the first game, lost it pretty big in the second, let's see how today goes. War Eagle, Hotties!

    ReplyDelete
  121. The measure of the baseball team will be "do we make the SEC tourney". Only the top 8 teams attend and we have been absent for 6 years. The venue is the Hoover Met (Regions Park). I stay in Hoover and have had NO real reason to attend, since we have not made the cut.

    ReplyDelete
  122. MrsTHT is back in class and LGG Byron is home. His flight from London diverted to Boston yesterday. After 5 hours there, AA put the passengers on a 5 hour bus ride to JFK, where they arrived around 11 pm. LGGB and a few others spent a few hours trying to find out what flight could get them to RDU. They took a cab from JFK to LaGuardia at 1 a.m. and got a flight out at 6 a.m. Piece of cake compared to 2.0's flight home at Christmas. And still quicker than our trip home the day after the first "liquid" scare several years ago.

So.... do we have a basketball coach?

    ReplyDelete
  123. I doubt we will hear about a basketball coach anytime soon, but I have been reading up on the candidates and have come up with my own favorites.

    1) Tony Barbee
    2) Ron Hunter
    3) Johnny Jones

I really do hope we go after a current head coach. The more I read about Chuck Person, the less I liked.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Norm is reporting that Chuck Person does not have a college degree. This eliminates him from consideration for the head coach vacancy at AU as it's an NCAA requirement that head coaches have received their degree. Norm cites THT as his source for the NCAA requirement information.

    ReplyDelete

I tried going back through yahoo and still couldn't get there.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Hey, I just read where Chuck Person can't be the head coach at AU since the NCAA requires head coaches to have a college degree which he does not. I read it on a reputable blog so I consider it to be true.

    ReplyDelete
  127. I don't think Person would have been a good choise anyways. Get a young up and comer like Barbee. Anderson would have been the smart choice in 2004, but he isn't likely an option now.

The only knock against Barbee which might eliminate him is that he has no ties to the south, from what I have read.

Jacobs came up looking very smart with his Chizik hire. He would look like a genius with a similar hire for basketball.

    ReplyDelete
  128. I am so sick of UK fans (about 99.44 percent of them) who whine about every foul called, no matter how obvious, and then are still whining when the officials let them get away with things that other teams couldn't.

I am certain, though, that our venerable blogger is in the .56 percent.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Hello 2.0 Hope you are doing well

    ReplyDelete
  130. norm, i read on an unreputable blog that person is currently working on completing his degree. i'm not sure if through AU or u of phoenix, but it said he has been working towards it. good for him regardless of the AU job. i would still prefer an experienced college coach or one with both college and nba experience.

    ReplyDelete
  131. This basketball game is pretty good. Sadly I think this is the most I've seen of Kentucky all year.

    ReplyDelete
  132. jgt tate throws furniture at his kids when a foul is called on uk. he's just like the rest of 'em!!!

    ReplyDelete
  133. i would still think years of basketball experience and winning would somehow trump a piece of paper from xyzU when i comes to coaching bball, or in any sport for that matter.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Wow... we're going to overtime... or are we.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Miss state should still get in IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Getting a degree means a lot towards getting any job, but in terms of the NCAA it makes good sense that they would want their coaches to have degrees. Encouraging kids to get their degrees is a big part of being a coach, so a coach without one would be in an awkward position. Remember, these coaches are still basically faculty.

    ReplyDelete
  137. i think jeff lebo and AU would have loved to put up with wall and cousins' "attitude" this year. its called winning. if you are going to be an elite program, you are going to have to put up with less than stellar attitudes off the court as nobody is under any delusion that uk is just a stop along the way to the nba next year for wall and maybe cousins. AU folks better hope that is the reality that comes with our new program smell. i would love to have a couple of one and dones over the next 5-6 years. that means AU is recruiting at a high level and probably winning consistently.

    ReplyDelete
  138. a dude on a pay site posted this comment in response to 2011 wr rod woodson jr. committing to bammer after naming AU his leader last weekend. (his father is former bammer qb rod woodson/uncle former AU te lamar woodson). suddenly bammer is all about a "family atmosphere etc. etc." instead of "getting me to nfl as quickly as possible."

"auchamps: Bammer doesn't have a family atmosphere. Next thing the bammers will do is try to fly an elephant around the stadium"

i just found that extra funny for some reason.
i hope they forget to put an *ssbag on the elephant when it soars over the crowd.

  149. Peter Graves, of Mission Impossible fame has passed away. Many don't realize he was the brother of James Arness of Gunsmoke fame.

Some AU beat writers have mentioned that various potential coaches names have "surfaced". Is the AU AD department that leaky? ...I doubt it. OR did the sportswriters exaggerate the validity of the possibility of the names.

As far as I'm concerned, unless the names were leaked from someone in the AD, these names are just a SWAG and a waste of time to discuss as anything other than entertaining speculation.

  154. no, I had no earthly idea that Peter Graves and James Arness were brothers. MrsTHT knew but apparently never felt compelled to share her abounding knowledge with El Stupid.

We just got home from Charlottesville. After her class today we toured Monticello and Ash Lawn/Highland. Then meandered around on unmarked roads just to see what we'd find.

We stumbled upon this absolutely out in the middle of nowhere. There was a HUMONGOUS home for sale (probably twice the size of the one shown on that web site). The "info box" was empty except for an old wasp nest. We wondered if it was still being built or if they had just abandoned construction after about 90% completion. That whole "subdivision" had a "belly up" air to it. But they've still got a web site.

  155. THT,
I was looking at the website you posted and hubby asked what I was looking at. Houses, I replied. We have three he said, please do not look at anymore! They are huge aren't they?

    ReplyDelete
  156. We only saw 3 or 4 houses, only 1 was definitely occupied. Lots of empty lots (if you can call 20-40 acres a "lot"). We couldn't believe the HUMONGOUS house was a spec home.

Found a pic, it's the bottom left one here. The road, probably at least a quarter mile away, curved around where you could see a brick guest house or some other structure in back.

THT ...I'm jealous, I've yet to visit Monticello, etc. We've had to abandon 2 trips that were planned to that area.

There's not much landscaping around those large homes. Maybe the spec builder ran out of $$$.

I'm out the door back to work. Can't wait to see everyone else's reaction when I finally go to daylight savings time this afternoon ;-)

  159. Good morning, Hotties! Why do the weekends always go so fast?

Has anyone else filled out their bracket yet? I did it last evening. I printed it out and showed it to my friend and she said, "Your Final Four are all #1 seeds. Do you realize that almost never happens?" I told her I didn't know they were all #1 seeds by the time I got to the CG. It just kinda happened that way. Oh well, it's still fun seeing how it all plays out!

I was shocked on Friday when I heard the news about Lebo. I really thought they'd give him more time. You were right, Jet!

  169. I don't know if I believe the scale this morning, but I have lost 30 lbs since the start of the year.

(I don't think I have lost THAT much, but everyone in the competetion weighed in on that scale, so I will take it.)

I think the real number is closer to 25, but I am proud of me.

  170. Stu- Congrats. Keep up the hard work and make it a life change. Its an awesome thing! Congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  171. Way to go, stupup! 25 or 30 - that is huge since the first of the year! COngratulations!!! I could have lost that much, too...if it weren't for Graeter's ice cream...and Girl Scout cookies....and hating to exercise...but I'm getting there. Are you dieting, exercising, spill your secrets :)

Every time I watch something like "The Pacific" I am overwhelmed by how useless and pathetic the following generations (including mine) are.

  177. When video evidence of your stupidity exists for the entire world to see, do you submit a claim on your insurance to repair your car vs. rock damage? Would they pay if you did?

  178. Good morning Hotties it rained again early early this morning. I will be glad when the warm dry weather arrives. I think I will go ahead and fill out my bracket. I know so little about basketball nationally that I should get a big laugh out of this.

  179. the leak is plugged, at least momentarily. I'm here briefly in hopes of seeing a master work his craft.

    Norm, it's almost time.

  181. My bracket is in. My house is empty for two days, and all I've got to watch is the play-in game tomorrow night.

I guess I'll be watching the DVR versions of the bowl game and the Ole Miss game to entertain myself.
