Hey everyone. The Tigers have ended their 2-hour practice. Here is what we learned.

- Signee Shon Coleman, a highly rated offensive tackle, has been diagnosed with an unusual medical condition. It is treatable. Research suggests >80% of people under the age of 25 diagnosed with the condition are cured. Coach Gene Chizik acknowledged that Coleman is dealing with a "medical issue" and that he's been in contact with Coleman. It's unclear how this situation will affect Coleman's career.
- Recall that this could be the third consecutive year that an Auburn signee has been sidelined with a non-football issue ... DE Andre Wadley in 2008 and OL Aubrey Phillips in 2009.
- Assistant coach Curtis Luper was quick to point out that Mario Fannin isn't yet the team's No. 1 tailback. He's simply competing for the job along with Onterio McCalebb and Dontae Aycock.
- Aycock missed practice today because he is ill.
- Fannin said he still thinks about that South Florida game from 2007, which saw him lose two fumbles. He believes that was supposed to be his "break-out" game and that his career would have developed differently without the fumbles.
- Assistant coach Trooper Taylor said DeAngelo Benton has made significant progress since last season and now is exhibiting reliability previously demonstrated only by Darvin Adams and Terrell Zachery.
- Demond Washington seems content with his recent move back to cornerback. His speed, size and lateral quickness seem to be a better play at that position. The Tallassee native moonlighted at safety in 2009 because of injuries and depth problems.
First
ReplyDeleteToo bad Fannin still caries the ball like a loose loaf of bread.
ReplyDeleteprayin for Mr C

ReplyDeletegodspeed Coleman. yikes.

Korean for substance!
ReplyDeletewhere are the other 5 posts?
ReplyDeleteHere we go with the weird comment posts disappearing.
ReplyDeleteFannin needs to get past that. The best players are able to learn from mistakes, then forget they happen. It sounds like anything but perfection haunts him. Live in 2010, Wario!
ReplyDeletethat's good to hear about Benton. we need him to step up.
ReplyDeletePost-practice notes are friggin' awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love spring ball, hope springs eternal.
ReplyDeleteAs I refreshed the count went up by one but there were no new comments. WEIRD. Puter's are very WEIRD
ReplyDeleteMs Cleo told me that Aycock will be the man at tailback this year so I'm going with that.
ReplyDeleteGood point, PF.
ReplyDeleteBlogger Tate - thanks for the great news about DeAngelo.
I think Demond could be a superb CB. I can't remember, is he a SR?
7 comments missing. Search party sent.
ReplyDeleteJay G,
ReplyDeleteJust read on some ESPN dude's column a letter about how the beat hacks got to participate in LSU's pro day. This dude fell and broke his collar bone running the 40.
Who among Auburn beat hacks would win EAABWAA's "Beat Hack Most Likely to Break the Collar Bone at Pro Day" Award?
Sometimes Blogger's comments numbering system goes haywire.
ReplyDeleteFannin is right. Fumbles can kill a runningback's career. It doesn't take that many.
ReplyDeleteAs for Benton, that is big news. Zachery and Fannin were okay last season, but Adams was really our only go to receiver.
ReplyDeleteZachary, Mr. Big Play himself? Just alright?
ReplyDelete...unless you're a superstar running back. Adrian Peterson fumbles a lot.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the airline web site,2.0's plane landed at the Oslo airport about 20 minutes ago. It is 22 miles N of Oslo and at 60.193681 North latitude. That's getting on up there! She's just spending the night there before heading further north tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, she'll check in to HABOTN and provide the updates some of you requested.
PF's comment has now vanished.
ReplyDeleteAnd now it's back.

ReplyDeleteTHT,
ReplyDeleteNorway is beautiful. 2.0 will LOVE it there. Oslo is the biggest city, but it is kindof the business sector, nothing too exciting or cultural happens there. Bergen is the best city there.
THT - I bet it's cold that far up north. I don't care for that type of cold.
ReplyDeleteI notice an Alpharetta, GA on Feedjit. That's interesting to me since I believe I'm the only Hottie working/living in that area. The thing is, I'm not there currently. This week, I'm all the way over in Santa Rosa, CA. Maybe since I'm working off my corporate network remotely it somehow figures Alpharetta. Anyway...
What is up with the comment counter? It keeps bouncing around.. 20-24-23-24-21...
ReplyDeletei posted a few minutes ago & it disappeared. weird.
ReplyDeleteAHHHHHHH! Crisis on the HABOTN!
ReplyDeleteOk.
ReplyDeleteThere appears to be 12 people at Martinsville for the NASCAR race.
what the? Are posts showing up somewhere in the middle of the comments?? We're now up to 29 comments and only 1 after my last post...
ReplyDeleteI took some dayquil... did I take too much? Am I day-trippin?
now 32... surely I took too much dayquil... I think I'm gonna go lay down...
ReplyDeleteIf this posting conundrum continues, I fear I'll have not other option but to demand a full and immediate refund to me from the owner of this site.
ReplyDeleteDidn't wanna do it, felt I owed it to 'em.
that's barely enough for one pit crew. I'm going out on a limb and assume your count is limited to the fans in attendance ;-)
ReplyDeletePF, where did you go yesterday? i can't remember.
ReplyDeleteNorm - although 350 miles away, I'm the Alpharetta person today.
ReplyDeleteNorm - Brrrr
ReplyDelete(but it's worth it for the seal lasagna ;-) )
Scottie,
ReplyDeleteDrove up to Tampa for the Indy Car race, ate lunch at Keegan's in Indian Rocks Beach (as seen on Divers Drive-Ins and Dives), watched the weather get worse, then drove home.
Seal lasagna? Is that a serious food?
ReplyDeleteLived across the Pond for 3 years........interesting and fun...actually hard to come back.
ReplyDeleteI like American dentistry too much to ever want to live elsewhere.
ReplyDeletewhere did you live, WEG?
ReplyDeleteWhy have I not seen Ralph Spy's name mentioned anywhere before Chris Low wrote a blurb on him today? I forgot he was even at Auburn, now we're hearing Trooper likes him.
ReplyDeletethat's hilarious, PF. My teeth are so bad it's a moot point where I live. And MrsTHT's teeth are so perfect, it's a moot point where she lives.
ReplyDeleteah, i thought it was some kind of race. never been to any nascar or indy races. i need to make it over to race here in tennessee some time.
ReplyDeletesounds fun PF.
Lived in Stuttgart Germany in a little german village outside city and then at Ramstein AB which is really little America (70,000+!). Lots of traveling and shopping was done by family!!
ReplyDeleteI just realized a pile of work had quietly accumulated behind me. I'll catch up with y'all when I get home. Hottie Ho!
ReplyDeletehottie ho!
ReplyDeleteNorm - lurk more than post, but often from the Windward Parkway area. Just sayin.
ReplyDelete75% of the avatars on my screen have little red "X"s in place of true substance.
ReplyDeleteThis thing just ain't right
The Auburn Eagle Message Board has a new sponsor. Oh joyous day!
ReplyDeleteblogger is down on the mat right now, will get up before the 10 count?
ReplyDeleteMe too digger. But the digger eagle® is flying proud...so you got that going for you.
ReplyDeleteYea, I considered Zachery alright, not outstanding. While a he seemed to get a lot of long catches, he didn't get nearly as many catches as Adams and they weren't typically the go to type catches.
ReplyDeleteI just got a google server error. First time I've ever seen such.
ReplyDeleteAs for fumbling runningbacks, there was one with the 49ers and then the Eagles back in the 80s. When he didn't fumble he was great, but his fumbles really hurt his career.
ReplyDeleteI am very curious about Ralph Spry too. Apparently his dad is a coach at Auburn.
ReplyDeleteehyou
ReplyDeleteI went out of the blog and came back in and there are a few more avatars but not yours or eddies or several others.
AllenD - we're practically neighbors then. My office is off Windward on Marconi. Cool.
ReplyDeletei wish i had a habotn neighbor. bummer.

ReplyDeleteHow are we to be sure that the photo of someone named "Morgan" is really Anthony (supposedly f/k/a) Gulley? It could be Morgan Hull for all we know. This could be yet another grand conspiracy to pull the wool over our eyes by the Government!!!
i'll take SFC as a neighbor. i've got UT & USC fans all around me at home. seriously, transplants from southern california. weirdos.
ReplyDeleteThe Government is also deleting posts on SEC related sports blogs. I got it from a reliable source (Tea Party blogosphere).
ReplyDeletei'm driving and won't be able to "Beasley!!!"
ReplyDelete:-(
Speaking of tea party, Mike Lupica says the Tea Party is "dripping with hate." Biff (@MorningVent) tweets "Mike Lupica is Queer." Is there anywhere but Jackson,MS that he gets away with that? Hillarious (whether I agree with him or not).
ReplyDeleteDon't worry THT... we'll step up for you if the blogger comment counter doesn't go haywire again.
ReplyDeleteBeasley!
ReplyDeletenice work MJT
ReplyDeleteNobody's gonna count to call you out, MJT.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of hate, has everyone seen the video on the Ben Tate FB page where he spies a UAT helmet @ ESPN?
ReplyDeleteWho is this guy behind the camera. He is this guy behind the camera.
ReplyDeletedid i PF? did i really?
ReplyDeleteTERRY
ReplyDeleteBEASLEY!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHELLO KENNESAW, GEORGIA!
ReplyDeleteok, my work is done. drive safely THT.
ReplyDeleteI lived across the pond for 13 years, then we moved to East Vaughngumpery from Wetumpka. Oh, you meant a different pond.
ReplyDeleteMario shouldn't forgive himself yet. I know I haven't. His debt remains on the books until he does something special this year.
Hearing good stuff about Tony the Tiger.
Auburn Baseball still the top hitting team in the SEC.
ReplyDeleteI lived down the road from a pond. There was a big gator in it.
ReplyDeletebut far from the top in pitching... which is the problem.... that and errors
ReplyDelete[huge sigh]
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's got a pool...and a pond. Pond would be good for you.
ReplyDeleteChris Low is here today.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that means you'll get some Auburn stuff on his blog as the day progresses.
Received an interesting tweet, but there is not story linked: "BreakingNews: Tennessee man pleads guilty to plotting to kill Barack Obama, dozens of other black people in 2008".
ReplyDeleteAnyone heard about this? Apparently someone found another stupid reason to go to jail.
As for SupurMario's talk about the Auburn Parking Gestapo -- I never park illegally. Never. I know I'll be the guy they get the one time I park illegally.
ReplyDeleteSo, no, it wasn't me.
a friend of mine was diagnosed with another form of leukemia a few months ago. he had to spend a week or two in and out of the hospital to get things under control. now it is just pills for the rest of his life and the prognosis is good. i hope SC has the same type of future.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy with Auburn pitching at this point. There's still some issues, but he starters are mostly eating up innings, and the bullpen has come a long way...
ReplyDeleteErrors, on the other hand suck, even if almost everyone has been moved around.
PF - you lie.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with PF on the error thing. We had a pitchout in Saturday's game that the Abbott & Costello would have been proud of.
ReplyDeleteI just read where South Carolina is running the "Wild Cock" formation. Now, doesn't that sound scary.
ReplyDeleteb'doom ching
ReplyDeleteScottie B with the clutch performance. I'm not even in his league.
ReplyDeleteYAWN
ReplyDeleteI love hearing IT geeks argue on conference calls about who is doing something stupid and who doesn't understand the impacts of what they are saying.
ReplyDeleteThis thirty minute call has been going on for an hour and a half.
Anybody see the clip of Tebow helping a dude propose to his girlfriend?
ReplyDeleteTebow
My only question....Which HABOTN Hottie is this?
Let me state this plainly. There is nothing more redneckish than combining college football and wedding plans.
ReplyDeleteThis has got me thinking. What Auburn standout would I want to help me propose to prospective wife?
ReplyDeleteMaybe Bo Jackson, and I'll have him say, "Bo Knows Commitment."
Oh, I don't know about that, Steve. A little football mixed in works great. My daughter had a very classic, beautiful wedding, but we had the Auburn Tiger Eyes for the groom's cake. And they left the reception at the Grand National to everyone waving Auburn shakers imprinted with their names and the date. It was AUsome!!
ReplyDeleteYou have to have your priorities. Due to risk management, I cannot say which should be put first, but you have to have your priorities. Lumping things together can spoil both.
ReplyDeleteWhy oh why do I feel the need to read the comments after videos?!?!?
ReplyDeleteI hear what you're saying Steve, but I'll defer to the all wise and knowing Cincy on this one.
ReplyDeleteThanks, E-Bro, I don't know much, but I KNOW weddings :)
ReplyDeleteI hear Big Al has gone as far as Vegas for weddings.
ReplyDeleteHere's a little taste of a classy Auburn wedding :)
ReplyDeleteOkay Cincy, you got me. I do like the photo.
ReplyDeletecincy...
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it was a beautiful event, but i just can't look.
Beautiful indeed Cincy. The template for all future Auburn themed weddings no doubt.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite things - Auburn and weddings! Both just make me smile.
ReplyDeleteFSJ - not only have I been on those calls but I've been in the meetings with the people in question all in the same room. My first day on my big L.A. project last year I was stuck in a meeting which started at 5p and lasted until well after 9p. If they'd skipped the finger pointing and blame game, that meeting could've been 1 hour tops. Unfortunately, I was just an "invited guest observer" and not functioning in my role as PM. I'd have NEVER allowed any of my meetings to fall into that type of crap. It's no wonder the timelines on that massive project are shot.
ReplyDeleteYeah Norm..I wasn't running this one but it essentially turned into a shouting match.
ReplyDeleteTwo guys married to their positions that were in conflict with one another.
High comedy.
Fannin is not the only one who still thinks about that USF game in 07...ugh!
ReplyDeleteRalph Spry was one of the WRs that got mentioned quite often last year when players were reporting on their closed scrimmages. I recall hearing about him scoring several TDs and doing well overall. It should be interesting to see if he can break into the rotation.
FSJ,
ReplyDeleteThat is where my son has carved out a little niche for himself while in college. He was the middle man between the IT computer geeks and the business leaders who knew what they wanted but didn't speak computerese. It has worked well for him as a college business, hopefully it is going to translate to a real job in the next few days :)
FSJ - I bet while you were in the meeting, you texted others in there with you about the two folks in particular.
ReplyDeletecincy,
ReplyDeleteAuburn actually has a minor program designed to solve that very problem, called Business-Engineering-Technology. It basically teams engineering and business students together and forces them to develop a product with a business plan, then pitch it.
Yeah..except I was using our IM platform.
ReplyDeleteWe were comparing it to a geek version of Ali-Frazier
Blake,
ReplyDeleteTyler did kind of the same thing, got his Industrial and Systems Engineering degree with a minor in business and a minor in computer something.
I know it will sound like a bragging mama (and I am) but Tyler is a rare mix of a very analytical thinker and a great people person. My husband says he is an engineer with a personality :) I think he will do great things! He loves working with business leaders and computer geeks and translating between the two.
cincy,
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome, my Dad always calls me an accountant with a personality. Unfortunately I felt like the only one, so I am pursuing the entrepreneurial path instead of sticking to the only industry not only still hiring, but recruiting on campus :'(
Is Tyler still in Auburn?
He is. He graduates in May. He has had several job offers and is currently waiting on the one he really wants with a company in Huntsville. He has done the HR interview and is just waiting on the formal offer. Or that is the hope.
ReplyDeleteHe is in 10x better shape than most of my friends, I bet you are proud!
ReplyDeleteI am running a few franchise tax offices in Auburn/Opelika for now, but I want to start my own business that would use Tyler's skill set. I will have to keep him in mind as a potential poaching target once I get off the ground ;)
There is nothing more entertaining than a good ole fashioned geek fight if you getting payed by the hour to listen to it. When you switch from consultant to salaried employee, somehow it changes.
ReplyDeleteExactly Steve.
ReplyDeleteFerb is totally infatuated with Vanessa Doofenshmirtz. I can't say that I blame him.
ReplyDeletethat made absolutely no sense to me.
ReplyDeleteTHT...
ReplyDeleteGet with it man.
Wait, I got engaged on ESPN College Gameday. Someone (I still don't know who) custom made a banner for us that they hung outside of our rehearsal dinner with an Auburn and UGA helmet. The only hint of football at the wedding was my father in law's bowtie, which was a subtle and classy piece, though. We did have the Outback Bowl on at brunch the next morning, but it was not intrusive. I don't think we're rednecks, but college football played a big part in developing our relationship, so we had some elements naturally woven into some of the periphrials of our wedding. I doubt many here have been to a classier event.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, having Tebow involved does scream redneck. :-)
Blake,
ReplyDeleteI have personality damnit. Just ask me!
Blake,
ReplyDeleteI vouch for PF, he is full of personality. He's cute, too ;)
You doubt many here have been to a classier event?
ReplyDeleteThree words: Waffle House Wedding.
Get some.
Well, if many of the hotties have been to Waffle House Weddings, then I stand corrected. It don't get no classier than that right there.
ReplyDeleteThat line could be intrepreted as something unbecoming. Please pretend you didn't read it.
E-Bro...I'll take your Waffle House and raise you a Wal-Mart wedding..
ReplyDeleteThat video was truly frightening.
ReplyDeleteWonder if they had a chicken melt after the ceremony?
ReplyDeleteI feel it is morally wrong to schedule a wedding on a Saturday during football season.
ReplyDeleteI had an ex who tried to tell me she wanted a fall wedding. I told her that was fine, I had always liked the idea of a wedding on a Friday night.
Man, I love the bleacher report. I was reading an article explaining why we would win the west and right near the top it says we had "inexperienced linebackers". Ummm, we likely had the most experienced linebackers in the nation. There just wasn't many of them. Okay, ElToro wasn't up to speed, but inexperienced linebackers was far from the problem.
ReplyDelete115 snaps in one game sounds like experience.
ReplyDeleteA great story about one of our guys. Hope it's okay to post this link. Sorry if this has been discussed already.

Rise and shine, Hotties!!!
ReplyDeleteWARRRRR EAGLE!!!!
Click Here for the above story referenced by Dale.
ReplyDeleteAll you sleepy heads, I just spoke briefly to 2.0; she was on the bus from the airport to town (Tromso, Norway), at 69.68 N latitude, it is well inside the Arctic Circle.
ReplyDeleteHer internet signal was very weak at hotel last night, but she did see your posts yesterday. She hopes for greater success this afternoon when she checks in to her Tromso hotel. In the meantime, she's off to get some lunch. I forgot to ask her if she was going to try the seal lasagna.
God morgen fra Tromsø, Hotties!
ReplyDeletegreat success!
ReplyDeleteGood morning all. Got up to do my 1st morning workout. Kind of tired but I heard working out in the morning is the best. This is the start of my 2nd week of P90X. I feel like I'm about the vomit. Just though you all should know.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, PF.
ReplyDeleteCH=B - I just googled that to see what you were talking about. It looks painful.
I don't know if this has been posted, but saw it on a board on another site.
ReplyDeleteThe Marietta Daily Journal had a sweet story about a teen-aged Down's syndrome girl going to her high school senior prom. A lifelong friend had asked her last summer. The boy was Philip Lutzenkirchen.
On the day before the prom, the girl had a high fever -- as high as 102, but was able get it under control. On the morning of the prom, the story said Lutzenkirchen suffered a concussion at practice. Due to medical advice, he was held in Auburn too late to be there for pre-prom photos, but did arrive at the dance to keep his date with the girl.
So that answers the question about Lutzenkirchen, but tells us something even more.
Jet, you big sleepy head. You've got to get up earlier than this if you want to scoop Dale.
ReplyDeleteThat article reminds me why I love Auburn and her people. It is about so much more than football.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Dale and Jet. Great story.
ReplyDeleteWho wears #15 now?
ReplyDeleteGood morning, all!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great story. You can tell that she is an appreciated young lady. Cudos to her parents and community for that. She will likely accomplish much.
wow, lots of ladies here today! Where's Kathy? War Eagle Girl? Luv? MLF? Missinit? Who did I omit?
ReplyDeleteand AUMom?!
ReplyDeleteJet is a lady.
ReplyDeleteOf course! The Queen of HABOTN!!! How could I be so disrespectful. A thousand pardons, your Highness.
ReplyDelete
