Practice report, 3/29

Hey everyone. Auburn is practicing right now. Here's what's happening.

  • TE Phillip Lutzenkirchen didn't participate in practice today. Not sure what's going on with him.

  • Signees LaDarius Owens (linebacker) and Jeffrey Whitaker (defensive tackle) attended practice today. They were just checking out the drills. "I can't wait to get up here in May," Owens said.

  • The main punt-return guys today were Mario Fannin, Eric Smith and Philip Pierre-Louis.

  • Ryan Shoemaker was booming spiral punts like mad. He looked good.

LaDarius Owens, a 2010 signee, stopped by to watch practice. He said today is a teacher work day at school, so his family came down to visit his uncle ... former Auburn standout James Owens.

Another signee, Jeffrey Whitaker, also rolled into town for a short visit.

  3. Is Fannin going to be an all purpose back or really sink into the running back this season?

  7. Is it normal for Phillip Lutzenkirchen to show up to practice naked?

  8. Photo gallery is up for your enjoyment.

  9. A highlighter company is missing a golden opportunity by not signing Malzahn up to endorse their product.

  10. Jay G, Do Owens and Whitaker look just as athletic/physically imposing in person? Whitaker looks like a BEAST.

  11. Micheal,
I don't want to see PL in the Bday suit, ok!!!

  12. JayG -

We've seen pics of Newton and Gaydon & Mosley. What about Curry and Sanders? Do they look like HS kids, or like guys that could contribute in 6 months?

  13. JGT,
You think CGM borrowed the Stretch Band Idea from a MOM keeping reigns on there child like at the grocery store and mall?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I haven't paid much attention to Curry and Sanders to this point. We only get a few minutes to shoot.

  15. How's Mike Berry looking today?

  16. Denver airport security = not much fun..

  17. Good stuff. So what's with Gulley's name change...is this an alias?

  18. That's cool, I know the QB and RTs are higher priorities since we have to have them on the field.

  19. I just had some brunswick stew for lunch... got me to wondering if 2.0 is going to try the seal lasagna when she gets to Tromso tomorrow night.

  20. those are great photos, JGT. I just realized you had added some more. I'm a bit slow.

  21. We need 2.0 to share details from the trip ... since "overseas" to me is crossing the Mississippi River.

  23. Shon Coleman update.... I found this on another site...

--Here's quotes from his mom from a few days ago (from her facebook page):

"FBF...Wanted to give everyone an update on Shon. We received his diagnosis today and he has a condition called ALL - Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The good news is that this particular type of Leukemia has a 90% cure rate after treatment, so the odds are definately in our favor. He has been admitted to St. Jude for immediate treatment. The road for Shon over the next several weeks is going to be tough, but he will get through this. Thank you for all the calls and prayers, and please continue to pray for him and my family. Much love..."

"Today was a good day for Shon. The eye and ankle pain that he dealt with yesterday subsided. He began his chemotherapy regimen last night. His spinal tap results were great. No cancer cells were found in his spine or brain. This is great!!! His white cell counts are down today. We're headed in the right direction. Please keep the prayers coming:-)"

She also says he's coming home from St. jude today--

  24. I expect Auburn to address this after practice. Sounds like Shon has a good chance to get through this without any major changes to his life plan.

  25. War Eagle to Shon and his family! We are praying for you!

JayG, I hope you are okay now. The photos and info are great.

  26. Prayers sent for Mr. Coleman and his family.

I pray for the day where all diseases affecting kids are cured.

  27. Regarding Gulley/Morgan, it seems to me that I heard that his family is not his birth family. Maybe that's the reason for the name change.

  28. Are ya hanging out with Chris Low while he's in town? I met him briefly about 2000 while I was living in Knoxville. Seemed like a decent enough dude.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Does Cam Newton look like he is twice the size of the other quarterbacks?

Prayers for angels to surround Shon in this battle.

  30. Jet, the only time I have been pulled aside and searched was in the Denver airport. They act like they are Wash. DC and have this power and stuff. I have to be reminded not be smart aleck when I am at the airport.

  31. Y'all be sure to vote for the All Decade Team if you haven't done so already.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Jay, bringing the heat. Thanks Jay. I am ready for some football!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. My prayers go out to Shon and family and will continue until he is deemed clear of this dreaded ALL.
JGT good substance and really enjoyed the photgallery

  34. When did Aussies start dominating American open wheel racing? Lots of accents out there, including the top three in today's Indy race. With the Europeans and South Americans, Danica was the only American in the top 10.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Man, I hadn't heard about Shon Coleman having medical issues. Screw football. Just get better.

  36. ESmith returning punts is a surprise. Also, I am surprised Demond isn't returning punts.

  37. I have nothing about Michigan State, but if they win, someone named the SABANATOR will win the HABOTN bracket challenge. That cannot be allowed to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Sabanator = Salsa Shark?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Maybe that just means they want to terminate Nick Saban.
